I want more villains who care about their henchmen. I wanna see the bad guy fly into a rage because the hero hurt their very favorite bungling goon and it was nearly his birthday.
Things I would love to see more of in movies/tv:
Not focused on high school and acting like it’s the be all and end all and high school is where everyone peaks and it’s all downhill from there, can we PLEASE get university/college shows or even after that? Would love to see more mid-late 20s and beyond thanks.
Also on the topic of people in their 20s and beyond can we get realistic shows that don’t act like we’re all mad successful? Many people my age live with their parents, or roommates, and I’m not talking about some apartment in NYC. That shit is really unrelatable with a lot of millennials/gen z. I get the “yas queen” factor of having people my age running companies but it would be nice to get more middle-class rep. I’m sick of it being either weirdly rich or in poverty.
On that note, can we stop acting like creatives are rolling in dough? Most photographers, writers, etc that I know have to have it as a side hustle or at least have a second job because creatives don’t get paid shit. Characters like Carrie on SATC are extremely difficult to relate to because most creatives do not earn anywhere near that amount.
Just…platonic relationships? Idk a lot of my early 20s was me with my friends, I dated a little bit but my friends definitely encompassed my life a lot more, and I would really love to see more of those connections rather than the focus being on getting a partner.
Less focus on sex all the time? Idk why everything involving adults has to involve sex and getting laid lmao there’s a lot more to life than that.
The characters aren’t all model-thin and sample-sized. I get that’s definitely some women’s figure, but it would be awesome to see more representation of varying sizes where they aren’t “stand outs” (aka considered the “fat” friend). Idk man I’m a size AU 10 / US 6 and it’s pretty ridiculous that even that is considered “big” or “curvy”.
Queer characters where the focus/their story isn’t about their queerness.
Characters who genuinely do not want kids and don’t miraculously change their minds about this because they meet the “right person”.
Characters who don’t really know what they’re doing with their lives career wise and that’s okay, instead of being treated like every character has a “goal” in mind.
Characters wearing clothes that aren’t fucking designer clothes lmao.
Idk I really just wanted to see people in their 20s-30s who are human, who are getting by day to day but don’t necessarily have heaps of money aside and who are just taking things as they come, because that’s where I see a lot of people in my age group right now.
Also normalise couples not getting married, not everyone wants to and so many movies/shows treat it as a natural “conclusion” to a character’s arc.
How come “Adult” animated “comedies” always resort to the most juvenile middle school humor imaginable like they’re made by 14 year olds straight out of football practice
Like we get it, you can say the fuck word and make the dick jokes, did you just hit puberty?
