Animation Vs Minecraft - Blog Posts

So with the terrible Minecraft movie trailer dropping,

I've seen a lot of people bringing up better stories in the world of Minecraft, like Story Mode or the books or the SMPs, but may I add another option that would be a way better use of your time and money than the Minecraft movie (esp cuz its free)?

Animation Vs. Minecraft

(Note: contains out of context spoilers for this series to give you a sneak peek of what's waiting for you)

There's a good chance you've seen the first video, since it's one of the most watched minecraft videos on youtube, made by the same guy who did Animation vs Animator.

But did you know that the stick figures pick the game back up and continue the series?

There are now three completed seasons packed with fun episodic content that naturally blossoms into a larger, engrossing story that amounts to /several hours of animated content/. It's got fun characters, gorgeous fight scenes, and even musical numbers, all told with next to no dialogue!

The whole thing is a love letter to Minecraft, with way more passion and knowledge of the game than WBS.

New episodes would show off the latest updates, like when the main characters explored the ancient cities and lush caves before they were officially released.

There are even homages to the Minecraft animation community, such as the episode featuring Monster School (my favorite part of this is the way they purposefully imitate the old janky animation in Herobrine's movements)

Not a fan of piglins always being villains? While there's certainly some bad piglins in this series (though I'd argue they're under duress), the main cast also befriends some, include this adorable piglin child.

Still not over Reuben's death from MSM? Well they've also got a pig (named Reuben by the community), and it both doesn't die, and occasionally does some badassery himself!

Speaking of the action, this series doesn't just reference minecraft's world and creatures: it expands on the mechanics and worldbuilding, creating avenues for some truly incredible action that can only be achieved within minecraft. It takes full advantage of the medium and world.

My personal favorite example of this is the team's expansion on the Lucky Blocks mod, exploring the idea of a "randomizer" power to its fullest extent.

The action scenes are the kind where you have to watch them five times over because each character is doing something completely unique and fun.

All in all, this series is funny, gripping, and adorable, and is worth your attention far better than some corporate schlock.

Lapis was made by her creator like any other stick figures, but they only made Lapis to do work for them, and doesn’t really pay attention to her.

Her being like a naive child back then didn’t see any problem with it and continued to do what they said and such, while also wanting attention from her creator.

After doing her duties and work, her creator decided to delete her, since they had no use for them, Lapis was scared of the thought she was gonna die and managed to leave the desktop before she was deleted.

After leaving and meeting other stick figures while she went around the internet, she decided to hang out in minecraft, where she met Red

I also wanted to write a story on why they met but I don’t write well, and I don’t have the motivation lol

Also Lapis’s true name isn’t Blue, or Dark Blue or anything like that, her creator just named her Stickfigure, Lapis was just a nickname from Red and she just went with it.

She doesn’t like the name cause it made her sound like a tool, also hence the reason why she hesitated on her name, in an old comic I made

So I started watching Animation vs Minecraft recently….

And per usual I gotta make an oc of sorts

Dark Blue?…. Blue two?…. I just call them Lapis for now lol

They meet red first, Red thinks they’re Blue at first, but them realizes it’s a different blue

They sort of get to know each other even thought other blue doesn’t really know how to interact with another stick man

Since blue is already taken Red decides to call them Lapis since it’s the darker blue dye in minecraft… I think

And he gives them a piece of lapis as a token of their friendship, even thought it’s only been a day

I read the top half so I read tsc as "to protect creatures" and tco as "to protect destroy"....I am fool and cannot read lmao

i honestly dont get why people dislike yellow. hes my favorite 💪💪 great engineering minds think alike

great analysis! but id like to give my two cents over the "least atletic" part, because its kind of true

i mean, looking at the fights closely, yellow heavily focuses on providing support and quick thinking over logistics. when he does attack its because its too convenient of an opening to not go for it

plus hes the worst at parkour. he literally found out about the command block trap because he kept falling too much XD

i don't think its a bad thing. hes a good fighter, just not extremely focused on it like TSC or red. bro has his own interests. people who call yellow useless are either children who just wants to see sick punches or, as you said, people jealous of yellow's screentime

...depending on factors I might keep going after part 5? Like maybe Purple or something? But uhh anyways...

Okay, so Yellow is essentially the resident "nerd" of the group. He likes redstone, command blocks, strategy games, and coding. He canonically has glasses as well (when his face is visible), and he is quick to implement his ideas, especially during battle.

Examples:

He was quick to throw his staff at the minimize button because he understood where Greenscreen was getting his power from.

He was quick to begin making a plan to escape the piglins (whereas Blue froze instead - check part 1).

Yellow is someone that can understand what needs to be done and do it efficiently.

But, er, sometimes...

...he can get carried away. His inventions and mind can get away from him sometimes and cause consequences for him and his friends. Prime examples of this are the lucky block episode - (he literally got POSSESSED because he took apart a lucky block and used the glowing magic orb thingy to make gifts for his friends) and the Actual Short: Upgrade, where his invention essentially destroyed their house.

But now I kind of want to talk about more recent occurences with Yellow. As most of us know, there was a comment on one of Green's vids that said that Yellow had lackluster acting, and another one saying he was useless in the skit, both hearted by Green. In my opinion, the "useless" portion is fine (the comment was probably talking about Yellow's role in the skit), but Green could have responded better to the one about lackluster acting.

And this got me thinking - Yellow's probably really insecure about this kind of stuff. He is already the least popular out of the Color Gang (and Purple, Chosen, Dark, King, and Corn Dog Guy) - I'll explain my theory as to why in a second (hehe).

AND...I've also been seeing a few comments and fanfictions saying Yellow is the "worst fighter" or "least athletic" of the group??? These mostly stem from his kind of unconfident fighting stance in this scene...leading to him getting clapped (even tho everybody got clapped without the weapons).

And now my theory as to why Yellow is liked the least.

In my humble opinion, all four of the fighting quad had roughly around the same in the beginning. Of course, Second is the main character, and he lives up to that title, so he'd obviously have way more fans. But each of RGYB have different personalities that appeal to different segments of the audience.

But we obviously don't like it if our favorite character isn't having screen time or any contribution...and we also don't like it if another character that isn't our favorite is getting more screen time. Like Yellow in Animator vs Animation.

He's the one who hacked into Dark's computer and brought Alan's cursor to the Outernet, and kept a level head while everyone else was freezing.

And he's the one being wanted by Rocket Corp, while the other three were cast aside. He has a larger role in AvA than Red or Green or Blue, and I think many of us kind of dislike him for that. Heck, when I first watched the Showdown, I disliked it slightly as well.
