Recom Miles Quaritch x Fem Reader. Pt. 5

Well well well, here we are. Um, so I'm gonna be starting college in exactly a month...that'll be fun. And I'm looking for a job, that's fun. I got back from vacation in Arkansas and now I'm posting this from my boyfriends house. Yippee.

Warnings: Angst! Blood and death! Gun Kink! Degrading/Praising!

As always Minors DNI. Let me know if I missed anything...i posted this from my phone and it wouldn't let me edit sort of. Enjoy <3

Your eyes remained closed while your arms raised up, as if to protect you from gunshots. You expected to feel something, anything. Your body shook and when you heard something fall beside you, you finally opened your eyes and peered down. A quick inspection and you were fine, bullet free. “Oh god, Colonel you really shot them…” You heard Lyle mumble. Your head snaps to the side, Alex lay on the ground clutching their chest.

“Alex-” You fall to the ground and place your hands over their chest. They’d been shot in the left and right rib in lower and higher areas. “Oh god Alex, don’t-...I’m..I’m so sorry!” You knew you couldn’t save them. Their lungs were punctured on both sides and you had no equipment to help. Alex grabs your hand and you squeeze their hand, holding it with both hands. Your vision blurred with tears but you could see Alex barely give a soft smile. “Alex I’m so sorry, I’m so so sorry..” Your voice shook and you brought their hand to your head. “This wasn’t supposed to happen. Not like this.”

You squeeze your eyes shut and let out a sob. Slowly, their hand lost its strength but you didn’t let go of it. Footsteps approached you but you didn’t look, you didn’t let go. “Doctor.” It was Z-Dog. “...We can’t do anything for them.”

You open your eyes, turning and looking up at her. Behind you, Miles spoke. “Dr. Alex was a traitor to our operation and I won’t be harboring any more traitors.”

“Alex could have faced a trial back at the camp.” You stood up quickly and turned to face him. “You killed them in cold fucking blood!” He didn’t show any emotion towards you. Trying to keep a fearless expression, you pull the gun off of Z’s hip and aim it at him. The rest of the team seemed to become apprehensive. Quaritch didn’t flinch, instead he smiled. “Tell me why I shouldn’t do the same!”

He held his hand up, telling the team to lower their weapons while he inched closer to you. “Doc, everyone knows you’re not a killer.” His eyes were so relaxed, his ears were even perked upwards, as if he were more than happy to watch you threaten him. You knew if he got any closer he could snatch the gun away from you. You also knew any of the soldiers could shoot you down just like he did Alex. You felt your blood boiling at the thought. You wanted to look down at them but something kept you from doing so. Your finger twitched on the trigger and you realized their blood was still on your hands.

“You didn’t need to kill them.” Your voice shook. Miles stopped. “You know they’re going to question you when we get back.” And a voice in the back of your head told you the same thing. In fact, what’s keeping him from killing you too? He must know, or at least have some idea this was all your plans, not Alexs’.

“And I’ll answer all their questions with the truth. As I said before. They were a traitor, communicating and possibly conspiring with the enemy. I wouldn’t take the chance of getting me or my team captured or killed.” He stepped closer and kneeled down. “What will you tell them after you’ve killed me, Doctor?” You felt a violent tremor shake your body as tears flooded out your eyes. Quaritch grinned at you and took the gun out of your hands. “Besides,” He pointed the gun at your shoulder and pulled the trigger two times. Two clicks sounded and you gasped, your face going pale. “You can’t kill anything with an empty chamber.” He tosses the gun back to Z-Dog. He then took something out his pocket and tied your wrists together.You look down to see he ziptied your wrists. “We’ll have to question you back home. Now, let's set up a perimeter, we’ve already wasted enough daylight on this sob story.”

~~~~~
Every few minutes, Lyle and Z would glance back at you. Twice, Lyle had offered some water or a snack bar from the medic bag he confiscated. You didn’t answer him, or even look at him. Z-Dog gave Lyle an uneasy look, and Lyle sighed and shrugged. He decided he wouldn’t bother you anymore, knowing you were questioning the group of recombinant soldiers and their leader. Z was even more conflicted. She’s never seen you so intent to take someone’s life. When you pulled the gun from her holster, she was more worried about the repercussions you’d be facing rather than the death of Colonel Quaritch. Maybe she’d be worried about both but seeing you in a different light had (dare she say) frightened her. However, you never pulled the trigger.
Everyone in the group knew for certain you wouldn’t have pulled that trigger.
You were sitting against a tree staring at a flower that resembled a lilly. It was better than looking at the tarp that covered the body. It was further away from you, closer to the trailer but you could still see it. The soldiers converse while glancing in your direction once in a while. You didn’t want to look at any of them. Could you trust any of them entirely anymore? You never should have put trust into them in the first place. It was a bad work decision. You were their doctor. They were your patients.
Boots made their way towards you and you turned your head to look away. A sigh was given and then they squat beside you. Miles grabbed your hands and yanked them closer to him. You felt water hit your hands and turned to look at him. He was pouring out a water bottle over your hands. “I should have given you something earlier. Blood does stain after a while.” You wanted to yank your hands away but you could see in his eyes that he had consequences planned if you did. So you stared at him. Not in anger or in grief. You gave him a dead stare. Miles held your stare, then tilted his head down. “When we befriend people, and come to know and trust them, we look past their flaws. And when someone you know closely is accused of something outstanding, we tend to doubt and deny that of being possible.” He uses a torn cloth to wipe away the blood. “Most of the time we come to understand that what happened was not our fault. The person we thought we knew, was not who they made themselves out to be all along.”
“You didn’t have to kill them.” Your voice was low and hoarse. You didn’t realize it until now, but your throat was dry.
He ignores you. “But sometimes, we disagree with what we know.” His eyes meet yours. “We know better, know that deep down this person was committing serious crimes.” His stare was telling. Your eyes widened, because he knew. “But we choose to look past them anyway.”
He drops your hands but doesn't move. “I don’t understand what you’re after here. You know what I did. And from what I can tell you already knew.” You glance at the others but they aren't listening. “You didn’t shoot me because, what? You want more information? If you’re worried about someone shooting at us, well congratulations it already happened and it wasn’t the scientists hiding in the trees somewhere. It was you.” You spat out. “The scientists here aren’t out for blood like you, they just want food and supplies. That’s all I was doing, giving supplies.”
“Giving them coordinates to attack supply trains and use the Na’vi to take them down and steal the supplies. Correct?” He had taken his knife out when you weren’t looking and was playing with it, twirling it between his fingers.
“The electric trains that carry weapons?" Your eyebrows knit together as you think. "I didn’t send info about them, only meals and first aid.”
He was quiet for a second. “Alex did.”
“How-...What? I don’t understand this, the scientists didn’t want weapons, they only wanted supplies…” You blink a few times while looking down. “Alex wasn’t, they didn’t have the scheduled times for the trains unless they were-”
There was some yelling from the jungle and one of the soldiers came out with a screaming and hissing Na’vi child. Miles was up and walking over to investigate. Another soldier came out with two more children. They seemed small enough but from this distance, they were definitely taller than you. There were four children in all, two boys and two girls by the looks of it. Then they found a human boy with long dreads and an oxygen mask. You decided it would be best to stay where you were.
Miles was asking each kid a question and none of them seemed to be happy about it. He had finally gotten to the human kid and squatted down. You watched their exchange last a minute or two, then Miles stood and said something to one of the soldiers. When you looked at the other kids again, you saw the older girl staring at you. You looked away and wished you weren’t in this situation.
~~
It had been maybe 15 minutes and you noticed the children were whispering to each other in an almost panicked way. You look at the other soldiers but they didn’t notice. You stayed sitting against the furthest tree and decided you should probably get ready in case something happened. Which you were right. A soldier near you was shot with an arrow directly through his chest. You gasped and pushed yourself away. The rest of the soldiers were looking around, trying to see the attacker. You snap out of your trance and crawl over to the fallen soldier. You check his pulse but he was gone. You reach into his holster and grab the knife to carefully cut the zip tie off. You then quickly run over to the kids and duck down near the oldest boy. He was pushing his siblings away but you held your hand out. “C’mon hurry up, there isn’t much time.”
He stared at you skeptically but you sigh and grab his wrist, lucky that they were also cuffed with zip ties. “Why are you helping us?”
“I probably won’t be alive to help anyone later.” You got the tie off of him and handed him the knife. “Get your siblings free and hurry it up.” The sound of a helicopter made you look up.
Above the trees, the helicopter that brought you all here was lowering. It wouldn't be able to touch the ground but it was blowing the trees away. You tried shielding your eyes from the flying pieces of leaves and sticks when an arm grabbed you. You gasped as you were hoisted up. Then the ground below you started getting smaller. You became motion sick but held it together. Inside the helicopter you were thrown into the seat, getting strapped in by Miles. Besides you, the human boy with dreads was huffing, as if he had been fighting.
Miles looked at the both of you before sitting down in his own seat. You stared at him, then looked at the kid next to you. He looked like a teenage Tarzan, in a way. When he looked at you, you spoke to him. "I thought you got away with the others."
He didn't answer, only turning his head to look out the window of the helicopter.
~~~

Once the helicopter was taken back to base, you and the kid were escorted into two separate rooms. The boy, Spider, didn't speak a word to you. You hoped he didn't think you were a part of this.

Well, when you really thought about it, you were. Come on, you're their doctor.

You hear the door open and look up, expecting the general or someone of high status to walk in and demand what all your crimes were. Instead, Miles walked in. He looked fine, but you could tell something was wrong. He came and sat down, sitting across from you. His fingers tap the table as he thought of what to say but you beat him to it. "Well, by that look and your posture I take it I'm going to be executed…"

His eyes shoot up at you. "You're not being executed, or tried. You were attacked, and killing Alex was the only thing I could do to save your life."

You stare at him in confusion. "What? Attacked? I wasn't -"

"You got knocked on the head pretty hard, you found out Alex was a mole." He reaches up and pretends to touch your head but he yanks your hair. You yelp and reach up to grab his hands. "They hit you over the head with the bag, nearly finishing the job." He was staring at you hard, his jaw moved, like he was chewing something.

You stare at him, slowly leaning back in your chair and crossing your arms. "Why are you helping me?" You whispered, not realizing you had lowered your voice. Miles only looked down at you, his chewing finally stopped. You thought maybe he was chewing the inside of his cheek or lip.

"The doctors want to examine you, make sure you don't have any head trauma." He ignored your question but you felt that maybe you weren't ready to know his reasoning. He sighed and rubbed his face, finally muttering. "The boy we picked up."

"His name is Spider…I think."

"His real name is Miles, Miles Socorro."

You met his eyes, confusion crossed your features once again. "Miles Socorro? What like, he's your son?"

He didn't answer yet. You really looked at him, then for odd reasons, your face flushed at the words coming from your mouth.

"You're his father."

"That seems to be the case."

"So..then his mother-?"

"Died." His face was unreadable. "She fought in one of the last battles…and I thought she had left the planet with the baby. I was misinformed."

"Well babies can't travel in-"

"Yes I know I know." Miles sighed, finally looking at you. "we're trying to get him to tell us where the others are hiding."

You nod, looking down at the table at his hand. You ball your fingers into a fist but not out of anger. "What will happen to him after that?"

Miles seemed to be dreading that question. And he sensed you had more questions to ask. "I don't know. I didn't know he was here."

The door opened and a young woman around your age came in. "Sorry to interrupt, but we just need to check up on Dr. Linear."

Miles smiled and stood up. "Of course, we don't want her passing out."

You look up at him, watching his face carefully. He didn’t give anything away, only walking towards you and helping you up out of the chair. The doctor informed you which room you’ll be heading to and Quaritch assured her you’d get there. Once the doctor left, he turned to you and looked at the side of your head. You stare up at him in confusion.

“I’ll come by later. You’ll be given the rest of the day off to recover.” He leads you out the room. Before you turn away however he grabs your arm and yanks you closer to him. “And knock it off with this hero act. Before you really find yourself in some trouble.” He stares down at you, something hiding behind his eyes.

“Or what? You’ll have to kill me yourself?” You shot back. He grabs the back of your hair and yanks your head up so you would look at him. He smiled slightly at the gasp you let out.

“Careful princess, you’re not out of the fire yet.” His ear twitches when he hears people speaking down the hall and he lets go of you entirely. Turning, he walks away and you have to take a moment to compose yourself and curse at how easily you folded for him.

The rest of your day went by rather quickly. You were examined, asked to do this and that. The doctor noted that you were lucky to leave with nothing but a bruise. It made your eyes narrow but you agreed. She didn't know better.

You were given the rest of today and tomorrow off for recovery. The young doctor would notify your officers and the rest of your team that you would be out. But you had a feeling everyone already knew. She sent you on your way back to your room but you had other plans.

Making sure no one watched you, you would enter your office and close the door. You looked around the office and were pleasantly surprised to find that everything was left untouched. You sighed while walking to your desk. You didn't have your keys on you so you couldn't unlock the drawer that hid your old Morse code machine.

"How did I know I'd find you here?" A voice called from the door and you shot up from behind your desk. Of course, Quaritch was there walking in and closing the door behind him. You rolled your eyes and relaxed a bit. "Up to no good? Playing little miss hero again?"

"I'm not doing anything. I was just making sure my desk wasn't trashed." You shot back defensively.

"You were making sure no one found the communication machine hiding in your desk." He had raised his voice as he stepped closer to you. His ears were pressed back in aggravation. "You need to leave this alone."

You were filled with rage again, boiling over the top and you rounded the desk so you were in front of him. "You need to leave me alone Colonel. You should have just fucking shot me while you had the chance!"

In the span of three seconds you were laying on your back on the desk with a gun pressed against the side of your head. Quaritch had his other hand spread against your chest with a smirk ghosting his lips. You had to catch your breath from how fast he had moved. "I believe it's time I put you back in line."

You narrow your eyes, almost ignoring the gun now. "Oh? Like how I had you on your knees last time we were in this ro-" his gun was shoved against your mouth and you let out an annoyed groan. It was a smaller gun, a pistol probably. But of course it was larger to comfortably fit the hands of the Na'vi soldiers.

"Kiss it." He was staring down at you, his gaze was hard and something about that look made you shiver. You glanced down at the gun once again, then slowly up at him. You press your lips to the side of the gun and kiss it, then moving higher, you kiss it again. His eyes moved between your eyes and your mouth while that hard look he was holding faded.

He pulls the gun away, then grabs your arms and holds them above your head on the desk. Then he places the barrel of the gun against your clothed womanhood. You struggled against his hold but knew you weren't going anywhere. "Miles what are you-"

"Shut up." He presses the gun against you and you gasp at the feeling. Then he holds it there. "Ride it." You looked up at him shocked and confused. "Buck your hips against the barrel or I'll fuck you with it instead."

You swallow thickly. Glancing down at the gun, you notice he never took his finger off the trigger. You bite your lip and do so. Letting your hips rise up off the table and slowly drag up the barrel of the gun. Then your hips move back down and you groan. You weren't a genius when it came to gun anatomy and names, so you couldn't say what was pressing against what. It was disgusting and dangerous. But…

It felt good.

You move your hips again, eyes fluttering when something rubs against your clothed clit. Why did it have to feel so good? A chuckle breaks your focus and you look up at him. "Who knew you were such a filthy slut? Look at you. Fucking yourself against my gun." He leans down and presses his mouth against your neck. "What a pretty little slut you are…"

Your heart was racing and a whimper escaped your lips. You kept thrusting your hips against his gun while he pressed small teasing kisses against your neck. He wasn't giving you anything too heated which you hated. You needed him to touch you, bite you or something. Anything.

"Miles please-" A shudder runs down your spine and you look up at him.

He looks at you with that hard gaze. "Please-" he ruts the gun against your clothed cunt and you gasp. "-what?"

You wanted to cry out, but kept yourself composed. You slowly bring your hips up against the gun and back down with a soft moan. "Please fuck me."

He sighed while looking down at his gun. He pulls it away and chuckles softly. He puts the gun into his holster and turns his attention back to you. "Are you going to do what I tell you to?" You give a quick nod, desperate to feel him. "Good girl." He picks you up by the arms he was still holding and pushes you out the door of your office.

You turn to him, confused as he closes the door behind him. He gives you a grin and puts his hands on his hips. "Go to your room. Get some rest. Maybe I'll visit you tonight, maybe I won't."

And he turned away, walking down the hallway away from you. You took a step forward but paused. The nerve of this guy…to do what he just did and then leave like nothing happened! With a huff of frustration you turned and began heading to the rooms where you stayed.

Recom Miles Quaritch x FemReader Pt. 4

I will post the A03 later<3

!!!WARNINGS!!!:: Smut! Nothing crazy, consent on both ends, mentions of guns

!!! MINORS DNI !!!

Everyone else, enjoy.

You may have needed new office shoes by the time you were done running around. After sending the message and hiding away the telegraph, you went on an egg hunt for the equipment you needed. Surprisingly all you needed was to gather clothing to wear and a backpack with medical supplies. Too bad most of it was in different areas of the base. It took 10 minutes to find clothes in your size, then protective gear, then the shoes which also took a few minutes. After acquiring the clothing needed, you were told the breathing masks and other items(like optional weapons) would be brought at the meeting tomorrow morning before leaving base.

It didn’t take up your whole day so you returned back to your office. It was empty, no notes, no emails, no patients. At some point, you decided coming along this mission was a good idea. If something were to happen, which you doubted, you’d be there to respond faster. After thinking it over, you also decided this was wrong and you were being manipulated by your own thoughts into thinking this was a good idea. This was in fact, not a good idea. You sat at your desk, coloring some silly page that had rainbows and birds on it with some color pencils. You don’t remember how you got the pencils but they’re here. Might as well use them.

Somewhere around noon, you decided to lay your head down. You didn’t have much to do on slow days like this or any unfinished paperwork. After a 30 minute nap, you would go to the lunchroom and see about getting a sandwich, or maybe a loaded salad. You drifted off to sleep, not remembering to set an alarm or close your office door all the way.

~

Miles was pretty pissed off at himself. Usually he’s more level-headed when it comes to women, so you shouldn’t have had such an affect on him for this long. He shouldn’t have let you get an advantage over him, he shouldn’t have been so dumbfounded. Now he was picking at the mush of meat and tortilla pieces that litter his plate. He wouldn’t admit that he was embarrassed.

Lyle was speaking to Walker while Z-Dog, Brown and Ja also sat around the table, chatting and eating today’s mystery meat. Lyle had hummed and glanced around before mumbling. “I haven't seen the doctor yet. Is she skipping lunch?”

“Hm?” Walker also glanced around. She shrugged. “Did she have a big breakfast today? She doesn’t skip meals.” This caught Miles’ attention so he listened without peering up.

“No she had some cereal I think,” He took a big bite of his food. “Maybe someone should check on her.” After speaking, he glanced at Miles. So did a few others, but Walker turned her head completely.

He sighed and looked at all of them. “Yeah I’m on it.” He stood up with his tray. “So much for drawing sticks.” He turned and walked away. Then beside him, Lyle appeared and grinned. “Yes, Lyle?”

“Bring her a salad and a fruit cup. My guess is she’s either sleeping or forgot to eat again.” He grabs a juice pack before turning and walking back to the table. Miles kept wondering why none of them went to check on you but he also had a sneaking suspicion everyone knew already. He decided to listen, sneaking a salad bowl and a small fruit cup out the lunchroom and towards your office.

What would have taken 5 minutes actually became 10, then 15. He purposely stopped in the hallways a few times every time he thought about what happened earlier. His tail flicked in annoyance and frustration but he hid it well on his face. He was hoping you wouldn't say anything about it. Miles had scoffed at himself. The man has faced creatures bigger than him before, and here he was hesitating about walking into your office. He rolled his eyes and finally got to your office door.

He shifted the items in his hand to knock but saw the door was open. When he peers inside, he sees your form, slumped over the desk using a sweater as a pillow. Miles walks inside and gently closes the door with his foot, then he walks to the desk and sets the food down. You didn't move, didn't stir in your sleep or anything. He kneels down beside your chair while studying your face. When he glanced behind you, he could see the clothing items and shoes needed for tomorrow.

He smiled for a minute. He could guess you were stressed about tomorrow, he couldn’t blame you. His hand reached up and gently laid on your shoulder. "Wake up princess. Time to eat." He shook your shoulder lightly but you were already opening your eyes.

You sat up and looked at Miles, then around at your office. "Oh god what time is it?" You lean over your desk to stretch your arms out and you spot the two food items.

"Lunch time. Your soldiers got worried when you didn't show up for lunch so they sent me to deliver that." He slipped his hand off your shoulder and stood up. You didn't ask any questions. You had grabbed the two items, opening the salad and fruit cup and using the fork to start eating. Miles hid his smile as he watched, your eyes were closed and it looked like you could still be sleeping. "Had a good nap there doctor?"

You shrug, opting to stuff your face rather than speak. Despite your current sleepy expression, you were happy to be eating something. You wondered if he had help deciding what to bring, and you could see one of the other soldiers telling Miles what to bring. You finally paused your eating to speak. "Thank you for bringing this." He sat in the chair in front of your desk and you watched him closely. "How are you feeling today Colonel?"

He perked up at this, raising an eyebrow but shrugging anyway. "Better I suppose." You nod and move onto the fruit cup, watching him with an almost bored expression. Miles wasn't too comfortable under this gaze. "Why do you ask?"

"Because of earlier."

"So, is this an apology?"

"Why should I be apologizing?"

"No particular reason-"

"Because I gave you a boner and kicked you out of my office?"

He smiled. "You're very blunt about things. I like that about you." His jaw moved, he was thinking before he spoke. "That was inappropriate of me."

You finished your fruit cup and set it down. "Yes, but I was also acting immaturely I suppose." You threw away the bowl and cup, making sure any food bits were thrown away. "I made rude comments and hurt your ear. Sorry."

Miles hummed, glancing at the clothes and boots that sat on a small cabinet behind you. "Are you feeling stressed, doctor?"

You were stretching your back and answering honestly instead of sarcastically. "Yes, very stressed. I thought I had discussed this earlier." You mumbled and sat back in your chair.

"I guess so." He smiled at you. "I've been a bit stressed as well. I don't admit it, but nights before a mission are terrible. I probably won't sleep tonight."

He watched as you slipped to doctor mode. "I have sleep medicine if you need some." You had stood up and walked to the cabinet behind him. "I understand though, I'll probably take some sleep medications myself." You grabbed two bottles and closed the door. "They're capsules. You take two, 30 minutes before going to bed and they should put you right to sleep."

You turn around while reading the bottles, only to feel a hand grab your hip and another slip behind your head. You felt lips pressing against yours and your stomach doing somersaults. You felt your body tense up then relaxed choosing between giving in or pushing him away. The bottles in your hands dropped and you closed your eyes. This was wrong, and you knew it.

You wrapped your arms around his shoulders and he pushed you against the cabinet, never breaking the kiss. You were liking this a little too much. He tangled his hand in your hair and you opened your mouth to sigh, Miles took this opportunity to part your mouth with his tongue and you whined at the feeling. The things you threatened and promised earlier were breaking apart. He pulled away from you which gave you time to catch your breath.

He looked down at you and chuckled, watching your face turn red. He was on his knees in front of you but his posture hinted a more dominant look. "If I may, doctor, I recommend you relax before tomorrow."

You watched his eyes, glancing at his lips and seeing that stupid smirk of his. "Yeah? I could order medication but that takes a while to come in. So, you have any other alternatives?"

He leaned down and mumbled against your ear. "I have a few activities in mind, if you'll stop pretending to hate me."

You scoff and glance at the door of your office and see shadows passing underneath. "Not here." He looks at you and you slip out of his grasp. "If you'd like, I can see you again later this evening." You spoke loud enough so anyone outside might hear. You were writing on a sticky note your living quarters number and a time. "Those pills should do the trick. Remember what I said about taking them." You look up at him as he takes the note from you.

"Thank you, doctor." He grins and pockets the note and the pill bottle. "I'll be sure to remember." There were a few knocks as he was speaking. Miles opens the door. “Ah, I know your face but I can’t remember your name.”

You peered past him and smiled. “Hey Alex, did you need something?” You watched Miles duck through the doorframe and wave both of you off. Alex waved back and turned to you.

“I have great news! So some of the research from the last expeditions years ago weren’t completed. And since the recom team and you are going into the jungles tomorrow, I get to come along to attempt to complete the missing files. Isn’t that great?” They grinned, like a kid who was excited to go on their first field trip. You were not grinning. You weren’t sure what expression you wore but Alex seemed to dim down. “Hey are you okay? This is good news because I get to tag along with you.”

“No, no, that is good news.” You smiled apprehensively. “It’s just, you and I have never set foot outside this station, is all. I’m worried for our safety out there.” You took a deep breath. “And the soldiers’ safety.” This was a lie. You were worried about the team finding out you were a traitor. And now, how Alex would react. You didn’t really have a plan or think about the consequences. Just get the supplies out there and let fate decide the rest.

Now the thought of disappointed faces, looks of hatred from your friends, haunted your consciousness.

Alex smiled again. “That’s good though, it means you’re a good doctor.”

You play off your troubled look with an eye roll “Yeah but what am I supposed to do when a wild animal attacks me? Prescribe it with some tranquilizer? Shake a pill bottle and throw it? Here boy, go fetch!” At this, Alex chuckled, covering their mouth and shaking their head. You smiled as well. “If you want and if we have time, I can make us both a cup of coffee before we head out.”

“Ah that would be wonderful. Hopefully it’ll soothe my nerves a little.”

“If anything it would wake you up some more.” You lean against the doorframe and smile. “Personally I’m more worried about getting some sleep.” This was also a lie.

~~~
You had checked your bag twice, and now, three times. You had the extra supplies that you promised the scientists out in the jungle. It was stored in a medium sized delivery bot you used to send items often. You also had some medications, extra batteries and some dried foods. Hopefully that was it. Then on the side you had medical equipment and some travel snacks. You knew this was a serious mission but if there’s a lot of walking then the soldiers are gonna get hungry.
Now you sat on your floor, your bag was zipped, clothes and shoes were folded neatly and ready for tomorrow in your small storage closet. You stared into the closet, feeling like you were forgetting something. You gnawed on your bottom lip while in thought, glancing around the dimly lit room. Perhaps you should write an apology letter in case you do happen to get caught and die, in whichever order it may happen. You stood up and paused again. Was that what you were forgetting? You couldn’t put your finger on it. A few sharp knocks took you out of your trance and you looked at the door.
“Uh, who is it?” You had creeped to the door, peeking out the peephole and let out a small gasp.
Out in the hallway, a tall figure was bending down to look back into the peephole. “Room service.” You covered your mouth to hide a laugh. You opened the door and looked at him.
“I forgot you were coming over.” You bit back your smile.
He stood up straight and made a look of shock. “Well, if you weren’t expecting company I guess I’ll see my way back to my room.”
You raised an eyebrow. “So you’re going to be a pussy and leave?”
Now he looked offended. “I didn’t say anything about bein’ a pussy, just bein’ a gentleman but if that’s how you see it, then I guess I’m staying.” He leaned against your doorframe, towering over you. “So princess, you gonna let me inside or stand there and bitch at me?”
You roll your eyes. “I should just leave you out there like a stray, Colonel. Get inside before someone calls security on you.” You move aside and watch him duck into your room. You peek out into the hallway for a second then close the door. “Hope the ceiling is high enough for you.”
When you looked at him, he was practically foraging your desk. “Why do you have so many- is this embroidery?” You had run over and yanked it out of his hands. “Here I thought you couldn’t get any more interesting.” He smiled.
“Yeah well I had to take up some kind of hobby or I would have gone absolutely batshit. Knitting was next.” You put down the unfinished embroidered hoop then glare up at him. He was still smiling, but looked at the ordered mess.
“Now doctor, please tell me,” He picked up a copy of a Jurassic Park novel, “you read this after you decided to clone me and not before.” He turned it over to read the back. “A bit ironic don’t you think?”
“No, not at all.” You tried to take the book from him but he held it up high so you couldn’t reach. “If I'm working with animals then I might as well read about some- stop ransacking my shit Quaritch, I have everything in a specific order here.” He glanced down at you, shrugging and handing it to you. You take the book and set it down, looking over everything else. “Honestly I would have expected you to snoop through my panty drawer like an old pervert but you surprised me too.”
“Oh yeah?” He sat on your bed, seeming to make a face when he did. “Which drawer is that?” He turned and watched you as you sat beside him. You crossed your legs on the bed but didn’t look at him.
Thoughts ran through your head, you had questions to ask. “I know this might be a bit early for pillow talk, but how does it feel to be in there?” You finally look up at him, craning your neck. He hums and looks at his knees, then his hands. He holds them up and flexes his fingers.
“The same. But taller. And bluer.” He looks at you and you roll your eyes. “Don’t tell me you want to run around in one of these bodies doctor.”
“No, no nothing like that.” You shrug. “Everyone has different reactions and feelings when waking up in their new bodies. I can’t remember who, but one of the soldiers said they felt like their self from before had changed somehow. Like their body and their consciousness collided and adapted to this body.” You were staring into nothing now. “I know you’ve been on this planet much longer than I have, you’ve seen what the Na’vi here worship and believe in. Now I’m no scientist or hippie tree hugger-”
“You’re starting to sound like one.”
You looked at him and he watched you with stern eyes. You sigh. “Yeah forget it, you might shoot me instead and fuck the bullet hole.”
He laughed. “No no, go ahead please. Continue.” He waved his hand.
You watched him as you continued speaking. “You aren’t curious what secrets would be held inside this planet? You’re one of them now like it or not, and that grants you a better chance at getting closer and exploring this crazy spiritual or religious-” You shrugged your shoulders trying to get the words out without revealing you actually knew the correct terms. “God I do sound like one of them don’t I?” You rub your face and hear Miles’ deep chuckle beside you.
“I think I understand what you’re getting at.” He held out his hand to you. You stare at it, unclear what he was doing until you placed your hand in his. He pulls you into his lap and you shift so you straddle him comfortably. “I was never a spiritual person, or religious for that matter. I follow orders, I do what I am told and I don’t question it.”
“You died.” You pointed out. “Not saying that you shouldn’t have followed those orders.” You had begun to fiddle with the hem of his shirt. “I don’t know the specifics of this mission. They’re classified to me, but you know them. And I won’t seduce you to try and get information out of you.” You smirked up at him then looked at his chest. “Would you do it again if you knew you would die?”
He watched you, looking to the side for a few seconds, then sighing. “Yeah. Believe it or not, princess I would.” He looked down at you, his hands sliding up and to rest on your hips. “Maybe a little better coordinated.”
“Hm, wow. Yeah.” You nodded, pretending to look surprised as you dusted his shoulder off. “Glad you have that figured out colonel. Hope you’re putting all this brain power into tomorrow’s mission.”
“I better not get any of this shit tomorrow in front of my squad.” He tightens his grip on your hips. “Cause I will-” He paused when your hips rolled into his.
You smirk up at him, your hands resting on his chest. “Sorry? You’ll what?” You roll your hips again, feeling him grow hard beneath your ass. “Use your words colonel.” His ears flickered.
"You little minx." He picks you up and flips you around so you're laying on the bed, his tail flicks behind him. He leans down and kisses you hungrily, his body pressing down on yours. You had smiled a little in the kiss but it disappeared when his hand slowly slid down the hem of your pants. You gasped as his long fingers reached your thighs, then tugged at your underwear. He broke the kiss with a groan, reaching up and taking off his shirt, muttering about it being too hot in here.
You chuckle, admiring his bare torso. “Would you be a gentleman this time?” You reach and tug the hem of your pants while raising your leg towards him. He grabs the ends of your pant legs and slips them off. He traces his fingers down your legs, leaning down and kissing your knees. He watched you while he moved closer, trailing his lips down your inner thighs. You shudder as you watch, his fingers loop around the hems of your underwear. You roll your hips and sigh. “Miles please…”
“You can be patient, princess.” He pulls your underwear off and throws them to the side, then he stares down at you for a few seconds. You close your legs, even pulling your shirt down a little.
“What? Don’t just stare like that.”
“Don’t do that.” He comes closer, removing your hand. “Just relax darlin.” He leans in between your legs, kissing right above your clit then moving down. You sigh, biting your lip as you watch. He sticks his tongue out and licks deeply between your lips. Miles groans into you, licking into your sweet spot quickly. He gripped your thighs with both hands almost wrapping around them completely and kept them open.
You had covered your mouth at the unexpected feeling hitting you, not wanting your neighboring coworkers to hear you. You reach down with your free hand and run it through his hair, feeling the shaved head beneath your fingertips. He suddenly pushes his tongue deep within you and you gasp as both hands scratch the sides of his head. “Miles-” You reach up to cover your mouth again, groaning into your hand. “Fuck, Miles~”
He peers up at you, moving up to circle your clit with his tongue. He was practically getting drunk off of all the little sounds you kept making. And when you said his name in that breathy moan…He wanted to fuck the absolute hell out of you but he needed to help you get prepared. The colonel remembers when he was looking at himself after he had been transferred. At first he hadn’t thought of any difference other than the color schemes changing and maybe the size, that was a given. But in the office, when you had threatened him and gave him that hard on, he became aware of what he truly possessed between his legs. And now here, as he lapped your sweetness between your legs, he knew he could really hurt you if he wasn’t careful.
It wouldn’t be the first time he’s hurt a woman because of his size. Even as a human, he was well sized and occasionally wasn’t careful.
He kept at your clit as he reached up and teased your entrance with his fingers. Once they were slick enough, he pushed his middle finger in slowly. You groan at the feeling, closing your eyes. You roll your hips into him and he feels his own hips push into the side of your mattress. After a few pumps, he adds another finger, making you gasp at the stretch.
“Fuck, is that three?” You whine out as you look down at him. He wanted to laugh but instead he pumped his fingers faster. Your head rolls back and your legs begin to shake. He felt it and decided to pull your legs over his shoulders. You had let out a moan or a gasp at each pump, mumbling incoherent sentences. Miles noticed as your voice became louder, he could understand you were muttering soft pleas and praises. Things like, “Please please please don’t stop, don't stop,” and “Oh yes yes god you’re so good.” He growls into your skin and adds a third finger. You didn’t have time to mutter anything as you felt your climax spread and shake your body. Miles felt you spasm and clench around his fingers and he curses. The pants he had on were a mess now.
You were panting, covering your eyes and speaking low. “Please tell me…three fingers was enough?” You didn’t look up but you felt him moving now. First, your shirt was pulled off of your body, along with your bra. An instant coolness settled on your dampened skin and you sighed. Then you watched as Miles undid his belt, then his pants and zipper and- “No.” Your eyes widened. “That is-”
“It’s a bit more than three fingers.” He gets on the bed and strokes himself a few times. “Listen princess, it's gonna take some adjusting. But if you can’t take it, tell me to stop.” He held your chin so your eyes locked with his. “Understood?”
You nod your head a little. “Yes, sir.”
“Good. Lie back for me.” You did as he asked and let him move between your legs. You watched as he lined himself with your entrance. “Fuck this is gonna be a tight fit.” He began to press into you, making you groan and bite your lip. The tip slips in and he lets out a deep moan, his hand slamming into the wall behind your bed. He was holding himself back from fucking you hard. He had to wait. You shift your hips and he takes it, bucking his hips into you and ripping a cry from your throat.
"Fuck it's too much!" You muttered into your elbow. It was huge and you should have known with two different sized forms that it was going to be painful. You had actually dreaded it when you first had your daydreams. It oddly excites you in a scary way. "Oh god please go slower, please…" you looked up at him.
Miles was looking down, one hand now gripping the edge of the mattress and the other was holding your thigh. He had a deep look of concentration as his ears flattened and perked. His eyes dart up to meet yours and his ears perk up again. "Alright darlin' I won't move till you tell me."
Your eyes close and your head falls against the pillow. The pain was bearable, slowly it subdued and you nodded once you thought you were ready. He thrusts into you and a yelp leaves your lips. "Easy! No more than an inch!" You whined out, peeking up at him again. He laughs, dipping his head down to rest against your forehead.
"Yes ma'am." He kisses you, letting his tongue tease at your lips then pulling away. He then presses his hips forward and you let out a loud groan. This time you grab a pillow and hug it to your face. It felt like he was all the way in with how much he filled in. You were sure to be sore tomorrow and you debated somehow calling in sick for tomorrow. The pillow you had on your face was ripped from your hands and thrown on the floor. "I wanna see that beautiful face of yours when I'm fucking you."
You felt your face go red. "What if I'm too lou-" his thumb finds your lips and he presses it into your mouth.
"I can find a few ways to preoccupy your mouth." His thumb rubs up and down your tongue and you swallow around it. His eyes almost softened as he mumbled, "Fuck, that mouth of yours." He thrusts again and you moan around his thumb. He glances down and smiles. "Almost got me halfway darlin'."
You release his thumb and he moves his hand to grab your hip. "Go a little deeper, please." He obeys and pushes in, thrusting in and out little by little. Each time would drag a small whine from you. He reaches a certain point you can't explain that causes your back to arch slightly. You grab his hand resting on you and squeeze it. "Fuck wait, right there." You look at him.
He nods, licking his lips quickly. "I don't think I can go in any further without reorganizing your insides sweetheart." He pulls out almost all the way before pushing back in slowly. You cover your mouth as a slow moan leaves you. You felt his lips at your neck, kissing then sucking. You hold onto his shoulder and feel as he begins to move in a steady motion. Your nails dig into his skin, feeling him suck harder before letting go and smiling against your shoulder. "Hope they don't see that tomorrow…"
You didn't have time to ask how bad it was before he was picking up speed. He roughly grabbed your hips as he fucked you in a normal pace. He would hit that spot that made you arch once in a while and you did your best not to be too loud. His hips snap into you quick and you gasp. His hand was quick to clamp over your mouth. He growled and pushed deeper, making you scream into his hand. It had you seeing stars, this new pain mixed with a questionable pleasure.
"Fuck darling I'm gonna cum," he removes his hand and kisses you instead, his tongue wrapping and swirling around yours. You could feel yourself tighten and spasm around him. A few more thrusts, just a few more. You had to tell him to keep it out of you but he's so deep already. You whimper and he stares down at you. "C'mon doc, tell me where."
His thumb was at your clit now and you had forgotten all about that cheat code. He started to rub small circles against it and you lost it, digging your nails into his arm and shoulder. "Fuck! Miles- in me please, please just fill me, fuck go faster!" Your legs were shaking now, partially wrapped around the blue body above you. He listened, thrusting faster and circling your bud. With a short cry and an arched body, you felt yourself reach a stinging, stretched bliss. As you had cried out, Miles grunted and finally planted himself deep inside of you, twitching as he finished. He had panted and you thought he even whimpered as he slowly pulled himself out.
Your eyes were still closed but you felt him shift off the bed. The bathroom light flicked on, water ran, then he came back and you jumped at feeling something wet and warm touch your thigh. You look down and see him frozen with a wet rag. "Don't shoot." He reaches down and gently wipes around your sore area. "You may need to bathe to get some of that out."
You nod but laid back down, eyes closed again. Your lower regions were already taking the effects, and you groan in thought. "I won't be able to work tomorrow."
"I guess we could have thought this one through a little better." Miles states as he stands up. You heard clothes rustling but didn't open your eyes. Was he leaving already? Then you heard your bathtub running. It went like that for a few minutes but you didn't want to move. Then he came back and picked you up off the bed. "I got you a bath ready." He sets you down inside and you let out a sigh at being submerged in the warm water.
You both didn't say anything for a while. He stays outside the tub being that he couldn't fit in it. He helps you wash up, get out and get dressed. Once he saw you could walk properly, he put on the rest of his clothes. "Miles?"
He looks down at you and smirks. "What princess, want me to stay the night?"
You scoff. "No." You cross your arms but stay sitting on your bed. "Thank you, for the stress relief."
He had walked over and leaned down, placing a gentle kiss on your lips. You had responded, even feeling his hand run up your back. He pulled away and his eyes were soft again. "Thank you, for having me over, doctor. Get some rest, I'll see you tomorrow." He lingered over you, then turned and walked to your door. Once he leaves and shuts the door, you fall back against your pillows and sigh. It wasn't hard to fall asleep that night.
~~~

The helicopter ride wasn't as bad as you initially thought. Once you and the others landed on the ground, Alex was clinging to the grass and gasping for oxygen. "I hate flying."

You grin. "Need something for that motion sickness?"

"Not motion sickness." They sigh, standing upright. "Just afraid of heights. But thank you." They pick up their bag that looks similar to yours and stand beside you. "It's a good thing I only had coffee."

You nod and pick up your bag as well, watching everyone else gather around Lyle and the colonel. You follow suit with Alex close by Everyone was already debriefed, Miles looked at everyone, nodded and turned. "Alright, we know our objectives. Keep in mind the wildlife and the locals, everyone." He starts walking forward and everyone spreads out. You and Alex stay behind Lyle.

Z-Dog waves at Lyle, then signs the letters 'D-O-C' and rubs her neck. Lyle grinned and nodded, motioning to Miles who didn't see them, then at Alex. He nodes at her. She nods back. "Hey doc," she calls out, only being about 5 feet from you. "Mosquitos were bad last night?"

You blush, hoping the oxygen mask would have helped hide the obvious hickey. "Yeah yeah, that’s not childish at all Z."

"So you and Alex had fun then last night?" She questions. Lyle holds back his laughter when he sees Miles glance at them.

Alex turns red. "What?" They look between you and her. "Wait, we- we're not um-"

Lyle turned his head. "Ohh, you and Alex, huh doctor?"

Miles turned his head and snapped. "Focus, we need all eyes ahead." He looked forward, ignoring his tail swishing in annoyance. You, as well as a few others noticed. You smiled slightly, looking at Alex who was confused.

You shake your head. "Don't worry, they're just kidding."

"Hold." Miles stopped the group. He made a gesture and two of the soldiers crept forward into an open area. They looked around then the group moved forward. You spotted the old research trailer that was brought here years ago. Two of the soldiers went in to investigate. "We've made it to base 1, over." He had spoken into a mic. You watched as the soldiers were gathering around the giant war bot that lay fallen in the grass.

As they were all saying something, you kneel down and start digging in your bag. You slow in confusion, looking around. This wasn't your stuff. You look up to see Alex walking inside the trailer holding the same bag as yours. You curse and grab everything to follow them. Once inside, you see them with the bag opened and looking at the device inside. "Alex."

They looked at you confused. "Is this yours?"

"...yes, it's mine." You reached for it but they stopped you. “We switched by accident on the helicopter.”

"This isn't what I think it is, is it?" They examine it again and press some buttons on it. "Wait, Dr. Linear are you-" they look at you. Suddenly their eyes were filled with betrayal. "This is…for them isn't it? This is the same bot they kept telling us was being stolen and sent here."

"Alex." You stood there frozen. "Alex you don't understand, they needed help, I don't just ignore that kind of thing. They had kids here."

"Have they been tracking us too?" They looked at the robot again. "You know how they feel about us being here. They want us gone." Alex looked at you again. "I've seen what they did before."

"No that wasn't them, that was the Na'vi-"

"Doctors, you're needed outside." Miles called from outside the trailer. Alex stuffed the robot in the bag, giving you a look and exiting the trailer. You followed, leaving the other bag inside. "Found anything inside?"

Alex looked at you, then shook their head. "No, I haven't gotten a good look yet." Then their bag began beeping and the delivery robot floated out. It began hovering and Alex jumped away from it. The others watched until Miles shot it with one bullet. Alex stared at it, then looked at you. You had gone pale. Everyone was quiet.

"Ah, so I was right." Quaritch tilted his head. "It was one of the fellow scientists. You've been sending out plans and medical equipment to the people out here."

"What? No it is not it's-"

"I'm sorry." Alex butted in. "I…was trying to do the right thing." They had stared at you. You shook your head. They were quoting you now.

"No no no it was my bag, we switched bags!" Your throat felt like it was closing up and it made your voice shake. "Alex didn't do anything."

Miles was watching both of you with hard eyes. You couldn't tell what he was thinking. "Is this true, Alex?"

They shake their head. "No, she's just trying to take the blame. I know how much trouble I could get into and she found the robot in the trailer. It's mine."

You stare at Alex feeling your heart racing, they stare back at you. "Alex please…tell them-"

Then two gunshots rang out.

Recom Miles Quaritch x FemReader Pt. 3

Part 3! Yay!

AND HERE'S THE WARNINGS: Mentions of fucking, sexual daydreaming, newly found size kink MINORS DNI

I'd also like to thank a lot of you guys, ya'll are so kind and I am still unsure of how to reply on comments but just know I see ya <3 I'm also super tired so I will post this to my A03 in the morning.

Hope ya'll like it! I read over it once, thats it.

-1 week later-

It was lovely up here.

Sitting on the cold metal floor, you peer into the vacant lonely wonders that was space. Millions of stars dotted the black. If you had a map, you could plot out which system or planet you were near. The ship intercom came on, “We’ll be entering a jump soon, please return to your pods for hypersleep.” You frowned, standing up and slipping your slippers back on. This journey couldn’t hurry and end already. You hated hypersleep, only because when you woke up you were prone to sickness.

Shuffling to the pod, you looked at the others. Only two or three others had woken up, while the rest had gone back to hypersleep. You watched as the other awake passengers went back to sleep, and you followed. Once you closed the pod however, the lights above went dim. A scream was heard and you gasped. “Hello?” You hit the glass, unable to break out. The pod was trying to put you to sleep. “Wait what happened?”

The pod ripped open, you screamed as you were thrown out of it. You scrambled backwards and looked up.

A xenomorph was hissing, stalking towards you. You screamed and tried to run, only getting nowhere as it grabbed you and shrieked in your ear. It did it again, and again, and again, and again-

Your eyes snap open, sitting up to find you were on the floor. You look up at your television and see the main menu for the movie Aliens. An annoyed groan leaves your chest and you stand up. Your body jumps when an alarm blares overhead. “Oh fuck!” You throw on some pants and a shirt you tossed on the floor from last night. You slip your shoes on and run out of your room. In the hallway, a few other residents were rushing to leave as well. You finally get outside, squinting at the sunlight. Everyone was outside, standing in groups and discussing the alarm. You rub your face and walk to a few familiar faces. “Well? Is everyone out?”

Alex turned around, also seeming like they awoke with a start. “Um, I think so.” They had on a robe and joggers. “This is the last drill alarm this month right?” They looked you up and down and made a face of concern. “Hey um, you wanna borrow my robe?”

You went to ask why but the alarms blared three times, then a few officers walked up to the large group of residents. “Good morning everyone. Thank you again for participating accordingly, we all know how important it is to practice these drills every month…” He began to go on, waving a clipboard which he should be checking off instead of preaching. Half the bodies here couldn’t hear from this far back.

There was a soft chuckle directly behind you but you didn’t turn around. “Mornin’ sleeping beauty. Is that how you usually wake up?” Your eyes glance to the side, seeing Alex biting their lip to hide a smile, maybe. When you turn your head, you only see the crotch area of some pants. Your eyes slowly lift up and you roll them away once you make eye contact with Quaritch. Behind him, a few other recom soldiers stood, mostly paying attention to the officers in the front.

“No, I usually sleep in furs and handmade quilts and wake up with perfect hair and a dolled up face of makeup and lies. You just caught me on a bad morning.” You cross your arms, a cold breeze hits your back and you sigh. At the corner of your eye, Miles bends down.

“Do you sleep naked or do you usually wear your shirts inside out?” His breath hits your neck and you feel a blush color your cheeks. He whispers so no one else hears him. “Unlucky for you, it's a bit uh, nippy ain’t it?”

At this, you groan and tighten your arms around your body. “Be a gentleman and offer a lady a coat or something next time.” You shoot back and he smiles, standing up straight. You hear Alex scoff and you look at them. “Not you, but thank you for offering.”

Miles hums while glancing between you and Alex before peering down at your form, seeing more of your exposed skin. You usually wore long sleeves or a coat to the office and seeing you in a tank top and pajama pants was kinda cute. As much as you tried to hide your chest, the man could see over you. Of course he was a gentleman enough not to stare, but he did see. He leaned down to whisper to you, “I’ll try to remember to bring one next drill, if you happen to still be working here with your sanity intact.”

“That sounds like a threat, Quaritch-”

Behind him, Lyle was watching the whole thing. He watched his commander bicker with you, and then he saw the Colonel's tail flicking left to right. Lyle smirked and backed up, elbowing Z-Dog to his right. She looks at him and elbows him back, “Fuck off it’s too early-” Lyle motions his head forward and she looks. She takes in the scene before her, seeing you turn your head towards Miles and hiss something low at him, causing him to chuckle and shrug. Z-Dog raises her eyebrows and smiles at Lyle. They both chuckle at each other, seeming to get the same idea.

Finally they were letting everyone leave, calling the groups out by hallway numbers and their residents. You didn’t waste a second as you hastened to get to your room. Miles watched, smiling the whole time while he turned and walked back towards his squad.

You get back in your room and flip the shower on. Grumbling the whole time you undressed and got in. You felt your face heating up again at his words from earlier. Of course something like this had to happen to you. With him. Maybe this was a good thing, his mind was in other places and that gave you time to plan. You were thinking if you really had to seduce him it wouldn’t be very hard. Would you have to climb him though? He was very much taller, obviously. Maybe if he were sitting down across from you, you could easily climb aboard that way. Obviously if he were into it he’d be grabbing you and pulling you onto him.

That made your legs shift together. You don’t know if he would be smiling or not. Sometimes you’ll catch his face when he’s thinking or focusing and you wonder if that's what he'd do. He'd be focusing on you, no smiles, all serious. You wonder if he’ll sit back and let you explore first, or if he’ll flip the tables and pin you to your desk or-

You hadn’t realized you were holding your bar of soap too hard until it popped out of your hand and fell to the ground. You curse lightly and pick it up, rinsing it off and just focusing on washing and getting out of the shower. Getting out, you dry off and towel dry your hair instead of blow drying. You get dressed properly this time and finally leave your room and head to the complex where your office and hidden cereal boxes would be waiting.

You push past the doors, round the corner to get to your office and see two Na’vi soldiers waiting. Your expression softens and you smile up at them. “Morning you two,” You get your keys out and unlock the door to your office, walking in and having the two follow you. “What brings you guys in today?”

Lyle smiles. “Morning Doctor. Just stopping by to say hello.” He shifted and his eyes glanced at the floor. “Yeah.”

“Oh please,” Z-Dog cuts in. “Sorry to be so straight-forward but are you and Quaritch fucking or something?” Lyle snorts and covers his mouth. You turned red.

“Jesus Christ Z, no! What would make you think that?” You were looking between them.

“I dunno, you two just seemed to be flirting this morning. And well, you didn’t hear it from me but it certainly looks like one of you wants to.” She shrugs. “But you didn’t hear it from me.” She looks at Lyle who shrugged as well.

“You two seem to be getting along nicely though, right?” He commented.

“Nicely?” You raised an eyebrow and your hands were on your hips. “Besides maybe two interactions between us that seemed fine, everything else this week has been a shit show…”

Outside of the office, Miles was leaning against the doorframe, his face was in a neutral expression.

“He insults my position, he’s accused me of ‘hiding secrets’, in the lunchroom a few days ago his tail tripped me and my bowl of soup was all over me.” One of the soldiers made a comment about remembering that. “He didn’t offer to clean it, he said whoops. That’s it. And now, just yesterday, I get a fucking paper-” there was walking and a drawer opening, and then papers being grabbed. “About an operation I have to attend, asked by Quaritch himself. ‘Dr. Linear, you are being asked to attend the 1st Recom Unit under Project Phoenix as medical personnel. Further instructions to be given.’ Who does that? Who takes a doctor out of their office to walk the jungle in case someone gets a booboo. Don’t you guys have people for that?” He hears the paper being put down harshly, then another drawer opening and something being pulled out. “It’s like he’s trying his damndest to piss me off.”

He heard crunching and he smiled just a little. He heard Lyle ask for whatever it was you were eating and you handed him the box.

“So no,” You continued, after eating whatever it was you had. “We’re not fucking. I don’t know what sources you’ve been listening to but neither one of us wants to fuck the other. Maybe he wants to drive me fucking mad. It’s possible. Hell, maybe he wants to hate fuck me, you never know, I could have pissed him off first day we met, god knows.” You sigh and he hears you slump against the desk. “I stayed up too late last night, had a stupid alien nightmare and I have a headache from it.”

Lyle hums. “You’re the doctor, you got pain meds.” His mouth was still full. “Tylenol?”

Z snorts. “I took a tylenol the other day, and that shit does nothing for me anymore.”

“Yeah your bodies don’t have the same digestive and blood system that humans do. Z if you needed pain meds you should have come to me. I don’t mind, really. It’s kind of my job.” You sounded concerned as you spoke, getting up and going to Z-Dog. “Was it the migraines again?”

“Ah don’t worry Doc, I’m fine now. Look we’ll be on our way, Lyle give her back the cereal, damn.” They were standing up and Miles waited outside the door. “We’ll see you later Doc. Don’t stress too much, you’ll have us on the mission too.”

“Yeah, trust in us.” Lyle cleared his throat. “We won’t let the big bad Quaritch ruin your week anymore okay?” At that, you had chuckled a little.

“You guys get going. And I’m serious about those pain meds, Z!” You called after them. Z was the first to walk out and her body froze when she saw Miles. Lyle was laughing a little and ran into Z-Dog on the way out. He was about to ask her what but saw him as well.

Miles motioned his head away from the office and they silently followed, walking away from the office door. Z spoke first. “How much did you hear?”

“Plenty.” He stopped at the end of the hallway, facing the two. “I have a few questions about that little meeting.”

You eye the paper on your desk, wanting to throw it in the shredder and give the colonel the middle finger. Nothing was that simple however. So you flipped the paper over and set it to the side. That brought you to a new problem. You wouldn’t be able to program your supply bot out into the jungle without someone noticing. You’d usually do this at night but you would be gone. For how long, you weren’t sure. Not long you suppose. You suspected this was a scheme of his, him trying to keep you distracted so you don’t realize he’s onto you.

You sat back in your chair and munched bitterly at your dry cereal, not wanting to travel to the cafeteria to get milk or a full breakfast today. Lazily, you look over at your coffee maker, wishing it would automatically make one for you. A knock at your door made you put the box away and wipe your mouth. "Door's open."

A tall blue form walks in and that knowing smile appears. Your small bit of happiness disappears. "Hello sunshine. Glad to see you're awake behind that desk." He closes the door behind him, standing at his full height and crossing his arms. The minute he called you sunshine you were out of your desk and making a pot of coffee, knowing you'll need it. "Well, almost awake." He walks up to the small counter you had your coffee station set up at. "May I have a cup?"

Your lips made a sort of pout. As much as you loathed the man beside you, you couldn't deny someone a cup of coffee. Especially when he asked so politely. "Yeah, do you take any sugar or creamer? I've got regular and almond."

"No thank you, I take mine black." He leans against the counter and watches as you fix two cups. Yours was in a decorative plant mug while his was in a much larger mug. There were a few of these specially made for the recombinant soldiers and you took two or three for instances like these. You had emptied most of the pot to fill the cup but it didn’t bother you since you had your cup already. You held it up and he took it from you carefully. "Thank you." He gives it a sip and hums. "Pretty good stuff right there."

"Yeah, I practically wrestled with the other facilities for that brand of coffee. Only comes in every few weeks." You smile softly at the image of you spotting Alex hiding coffee in their coat as you did the same. You remember both nodding at each other and you chuckled softly. Miles looks down at you and you clear your throat. “Funny memory is all. When I met Alex, we were both hiding coffee in our pockets and I spotted them while they spotted me, and we mutually agreed not to tell. They’re funny.”

“Ah, yes, the uh lab coat with huge glasses.” He watched as you smiled warmly at the memory. “You two good friends now or what?”

You gave a little shrug, thinking about the slow but progressive friendship you two had. “No, not really. Just coworkers.” You gave it some more thought, never looking up at him. “I think I would have lunch with them if they offered, Alex is a good conversationalist and we share similar views on a few topics.”

Miles had rolled his eyes slightly. “Glad to know you can make friends princess.”

“I don’t see you doing any better.” You got defensive and he had to hold back his smile.

“Oh I don’t make friends, I make soldiers.” He turned his body towards you and sipped his coffee again.

“Oh yeah and you plan to do just that by throwing me in the jungle?” You had forgotten your coffee now, setting it down to point up at him. “I don’t work under you Colonel, and I’m sure if I spoke to some higher ups and got the okay, I could refuse to go.”

“Ah, but you can’t.” He smirked. “I already asked our higher ups and they gave me ‘the okay’ to take you along.” He too set his giant coffee mug down. “And speaking of; you know how to use a gun, correct?”

You groaned and turned to face away from him. “That isn’t my job, I’m supposed to stay here, in my office!” You turned to him. “You really want me to quit so badly don’t you? You want my life to be hell, and for what? So you can get your shits and giggles?” He was walking towards you and you unconsciously walked backwards. “I have things to do here, I have other people to attend to, I am not only the recom’s doctor but I’m the human’s doctor too. Someone has to be here to do the paperwork and, and the check ups every day-” Your back hit the wall and you looked up to watch Miles squat down so he’s level with you. He reaches up and leans one arm against the wall behind you. You realized suddenly how trapped you were, how much you rambled without thinking and how much warmth his body gave off.

“What are you so scared of, doctor?” His eyes were so big, and the speckles of white that littered his nose were almost glowing. You felt your face burning up.

Your voice was a low whisper now. “I’m not a soldier. I’m going to die out there.” He stares you in the eye, and he could see some of the waterworks about to kick in. He smiles at you.

“You think I’ll let anything happen to you princess? I thought you had some smarts in that pretty noggin of yours.” He taps your forehead and you wipe your eyes while smacking his hand away.

“Enough smarts to know that’s bullshit. I’ll be drowning in some alien-like quicksand and you’ll just poke me with a stick.” You leaned back against the wall, staring at the desk behind him. “Just admit that you hate me already and leave. You’ve disliked me from day 1 and you hide it with witty smiles and jokes.”

“You’re overthinking it. There’s no quicksand here.” He smirked and you rolled your eyes. You went to walk away from him but he trapped you with his other arm. “I still have some matters to discuss with you.” You sent him a glare, he didn’t budge.

“I need to get my stuff together just in case I’m eaten alive in the next couple of days. Like a will and final wishes.” You watched him shift, so now he was kneeling in front of you. Your expression changed, he could spot it. From annoyed to surprised, to an angry confused look.

“While on the subject, what’s this rumor you’re spreading about me hate-fucking you?”

Your face dropped and turned pink in one go. “Excuse me? Believe me when I say I am not spreading any rumors, especially nothing as filthy as that.”

“Hm, my soldiers seem to think otherwise.” He glanced at the doorway, “I heard something being yelled earlier too. Something about ‘fuckin’ and ‘we’ being used a lot in most of those sentences-” He froze up when you grabbed his ear and yanked him down. It caught him so much off guard that his hands slipped off the wall and onto the floor on either side of you.

“I want you to listen to me clearly.” Your lips brushed his ear as you spoke unnervingly gentle. “I will restructure you an old and frail human body and put your subconscious inside just so I can kick your ass unfairly. I know you heard everything I had to say this morning clearly and if I have to repeat myself I will.” He flinched and leaned forward, causing your lips to press only slightly against his earlobe. You had let go and he sat up, looking at you with wide eyes.

Miles was strangely, but very turned on. His breathing was a little quicker and he hadn’t gotten off his knees. He was staring at you, flicking between your eyes and your lips and all mighty he wanted to feel you when you were pissed off like this. He wanted to run his hands through your hair from the back of your head then pull down so you looked up at him. He wanted to feel your nails scratching at his back, his shoulders, his chest and his scalp. He wants you on top of him, wants to see you use him while you’re infuriated. Just like this.

He wants you to hate fuck him.

You walked to your desk and sat in the chair. “You can leave if that’s all you have today.”

He slowly got up, leaning against the wall as his mind still carried waves of thoughts and ideas. “Yes.” He clears his throat. “I’ll be sendin’ more information later today. Thank you for your time Dr. Linear.” When he turned, he did it facing away from you. You didn’t miss how his pants were tighter in the front. When the door closed, you slumped forward again and covered your face with your arms.

You felt as if you had this strange power, this authority over him at that moment. You knew their ears were sensitive, but it couldn’t have been that sensitive that he was turned on from it. Maybe it was your words? Or maybe he was just sick in the head enough that he enjoyed this game you were playing. What was worse, was you were also quite bothered by the whole thing. His large form having been kneeling in front of you, then his heavy breathing…You swore he may have groaned at some point or maybe it was wishful thinking.

No.

Not wishful. Just lustful, clouded thoughts. Clouded thoughts that occupied your mind all day. His expressions, his eyes, his hands. Luckily, you didn’t see him for the rest of the day. You did however receive an email with a list of items you would need for the mission. A gun or weapon was listed as Optional, everything else such as a medical bag, military grade footwear and breathing equipment was necessary.

After checking the list off and deciding you’d need to stop by a few offices and departments, you took out your telegraph and sent a new message.

“MISSION-OUTING-AT-(COORDINATES)-TMRW-MORNING-SUPPLIES-ON-FOOT.”

You put the machine away and lock it, letting out a sigh as you think about the endless possibilities of your death. Animal attack, Na’vi attack, rock slide, and even maybe treachery.

Recom Miles Quaritch x FemReader Pt.2

Jeez Louise Papa Cheese, you guys really liked that first one huh? Here's a part two, hope ya'll enjoy!

By the way did you know red twizzlers(cherry and strawberry) don't have licorice but are still considered a licorice type candy?

As soon as you walked into the viewing room, Miles had eyes on you. Only for a second. He was looking away before you could notice, getting the rest of the heart monitor sleeves on his arms. One of the other recom soldiers, Lyle, smirked his way and Miles didn't say anything, not needing to. Lyle chuckled and looked down to finish what he was working on. You took a seat at the table along with two others, looking through the two way glass.

The door opened and two new faces appeared in the viewing room. They seemed like higher ups more involved in the military side of things. The female gave you a short nod, which you gave a quick tight smile back. The male simply sat down and examined the screen. Once in a while these higher ups would sit in and make sure the reanimated bodies were still working fine. The thought made your nose scrunch up. Of course they still worked. You sigh and pull out the sheet you needed, having the usual checklist for Colonel Quaritch's charts as well as his background papers. There was a concerned frown that stained your lips after reading his papers. You read what he had done, what he was capable of, and only heard whispers of what he was going to do. Or, what he was willing to do.

His training began, a scientist in the room was asking him to do such and such. He ran a treadmill, lifted weighted items for x amount of seconds, and stretched certain limbs to certain points. He never faltered. His tests were all the same as the ones before him. The training and tests only lasted an hour and a half. You eyed as the higher ups in the room quietly left, not saying a word. Usually this was a good sign. They never really showed negative signs before leaving. You wouldn't know what to expect. The two other scientists in the room were making their way out and one of them, Alex, stopped and smiled at you. "Another successful transfer."

Alex was a scientist in the lower levels, learning about the environment of exomoon Pandora. They were above training level and they were great at holding a conversation. Most in the area of study were not.

You half smiled. "As always. Now they just need to keep alive out there in the jungles." You chuckled and Alex smiled uncomfortably. You were shuffling the papers away, still uneasy about the information held within them. "I'm sure they'll be fine though. They always are..." Your words came to a slow halt when you turned your head. Quaritch was leaning against the viewing glass and smiling at you. A towel was thrown over his shoulder but he didn't seem out of breath. He knocked on the glass and said something, making you sigh because the intercom wasn't on. You walk to the desk and press the button. "Colonel, the button to your left."

He turned his head, then walked to the wall and pressed the button, looking back at you and speaking. "So about that candy bar."

You shake your head and press the button once he lets go. "We still have some paperwork to finish up. Meet me at my office in the next,” You lift your wrist up to spot your watch. “20 minutes. And if you can keep your trap shut and we get along, then maybe you can pick out the mystery box.”

"Understood Doctor." He grinned and turned around to walk out of the room. When you turned around, Alex had raised an eyebrow at you from behind their thick glasses.

"What?" You got your papers together and waited for them to speak.

"Are you giving them candy? Like actual sugared candies?" They started to chuckle, covering their mouth with some papers. "Like uh, a real doctor’s office would?"

"Look, it keeps most of them behaving when they're in my office, you'd be surprised at how childish soldiers really are and it's not that strange." You walk to the door with a giggling scientist behind you. "And, it helps with building better friendships. It is not that weird." You hold the door open for them to exit into the hallway. They hummed and turned to you.

"Yeah? I don't know if I could, you know, work with the recoms. I know they're just people in Na'vi form but it's intimidating don't you think? Not that you aren't capable of handling that, I think you're the most capable of these sorts of things..." They paused and gave you a small wave. "I'll see you at the meeting in a few days." With that, Alex turned and left. You gave a short wave back. You remembered they like coffee as well, so you had to remember to bring a cup for them at the next meeting.

Once you were back at your office, you set the papers down and unlocked a drawer beneath you. From inside, you took out an old, old telegraph machine and quickly hooked it up. After finding the correct channels and setting the machine down beneath the desk you began to send a message:

“SUPPLIES-SENDING-SOON-MORE-SOLDIERS-FILLING-BAS-”

There was a knock at the door, causing you to jump and quickly typing “Z”. This lets the receiver know that you were interrupted. You disconnect the wires quickly but let the machine sit under the desk. “Come in!” You flinched at how loud you shouted, knowing anyone could hear clearly through the door.

A year ago, upon arrival on this planet you knew a few men and women who had already been living here. What they were doing to help keep this planet alive and healthy, in your eyes, was the only right thing that came out of this operation. Getting into contact with them was tricky but you all managed. You were never able to see them due to the risk of getting caught. What was conflicting was hiding beneath a desk and secretly sending out rations when they were out there, fighting for their lives against the wilderness and against you. Technically, you and the rest of the humans here. You had almost stopped responding to their call after security became harsh and even some interrogations were conducted. However after hearing they had children with them… You couldn’t let them suffer. For months now, late in the night you would send out a service bot with coded locations to them. Inside the bot would be medicals, batteries, drinks and food. You knew they had food of their own but for just in case.

There were a few times you were sure that you’d been caught. All false alarms of course. The door to your office opened and the familiar blue body ducks inside. You try to relax your shoulders and give your best smile. Miles had looked you up and down, his jaw moving as something processed in his thoughts. “Don’t give me that smile.” He pulls the chair out and sits down across from you at the desk. “That fake one you give everyone.” At this, your face dropped into annoyance.

“Fine, I won’t.” You respond while getting out the rest of the paperwork. You just knew. You knew he could find out. If anyone in this whole operation could find out you were helping the enemy, it was him. Sure, anyone could see through your ‘I love my job!’ facade and the awkward smiles you give but something about how he studied you and spoke to you sounded some alarms in your body. He was toying with you, but you aren’t as imbecilic as he may think.

He leaned forward so his elbows rested on his knees. “It just seems like you’re hiding something with that smile.”

Your eyes flickered up but you played it off, giving a scoff from your nose and taking out one of your favorite pens. “If you’re talking about the mystery box, I do keep it locked up for good reason.” You raise your eyes up towards him, your best poker face on. Quaritch on the other hand was giving you a hard stare, one you didn’t back out of. You could see his ear twitch and it dawned on you that he was listening to your heartbeat. One of the upgrades you designed the soldiers to have.

He was listening to you lying.

You wanted to laugh. You wanted to chuckle at this predicament you found yourself in. If this is how fate would play out then you would play. Carefully, and coordinated. You broke eye contact first, looking down at his lips and back to his eyes, glancing at his chest then looking at the papers. Simple and sweet. When you cleared your throat, you could see in your peripheral vision he sat up and turned his head. “So the next half of these papers are about the same as the questions I asked before. Most are going to be about your training from today. Yes or no questions, or unsure. Ready?” When you looked up at him again, he was sitting back with his arms folded, tail swishing. He didn’t look you in the eyes this time when he nodded.

Your questions were the same, he answered the same, without any muscle spasms this time. They seemed to go by fast, something you were hoping for without complaint or remark. Once that was done you stood up and walked to the closet behind him. He turned his head to watch but didn’t say anything. You unlocked it, pulled out a shoe box and walked back over to the desk to set it down. A smile formed on his lips and he eyed you, seeming to forget about a few minutes ago. You cross your arms and lean against the desk with your hip. He scoffed. “This is what all that excitement was about? This little shoe box?” He slowly opened it, half expecting it to be filled with snakes or something to pop out and succion to his face. But as promised by the others, it was filled with plastic wrapped candies. Some chocolates, some hard candies, even a few familiar red liquorice ropes. The Colonel let the lid close and looked back at you.

You sigh and reach up to rub the back of your neck. “Our first meeting ended off rough. I blame both parties for that-” He scoffs. “ -But I am a doctor, and I’m supposed to be professional and helpful. You apologized and I did not, so Colonel Quaritch. I apologize for my behavior yesterday and I hope that you’ll understand my reasoning for such. I’m hoping we can put it behind us and start fresh.” You straightened up and held out your hand. Miles eyed it and you could see him thinking. He looked at you again and took your hand. You both shook and dropped your hands away.

“Thank you, doctor.” He smiled, then leaned over to the box and dug around. “Now which one should I pick?”

“Oh I already know which one you’ll pick.” You casually shrug, walking behind your desk with a conceited smile. You look at him as he raises an eyebrow at you. His hand was in the box and you pointed at it. “Without seeing it on this side, you’ve got the red twizzlers packet in your hand right now.”

That grin grows on his face and he slowly pulls his hand out, proving you correct with the small red packet between his fingers. You let out a brief laugh and sit back down in your chair. His ears flick and he shakes his head. “If I may ask, how did you guess that?” He closed the box and sat back in his chair.

“1, it's one of the first things the recombinant soldiers go for. I tally most of the picks.. And 2, you’re mentally 51 and older gentlemen love licorice.” At your second reasoning, he let out a good laugh.

“Older gentlemen huh? 51 ain’t that old..” the last part he mumbled. Finally he got up and walked to the door but stopped before leaving. “Thank you again doctor. Oh and I liked that smile you gave me a second ago. A real genuine one.” He smiled towards you again before finally leaving your office.

And for some strange reason, you felt your heart skip.

●○~○●○~○●

Miles didn’t need a diploma to know that something was up. He knew that, obviously. At first he thought you just hated your job and that was that. But now he was growing a new suspicion. He didn’t want to jump to conclusions just yet, but for now he’d have to keep a close eye on you. He looked down at the red licorice in his hand. The image of you leaning against your desk on your hip, the glance you took at his lips. And then that laugh. That laugh that made his cheeks heat up. You had to be doing this on purpose, right?

He’d have to keep a very close eye on you.

Once back at his room, he found a note on his desk to be in the conference room in an hour to discuss plans involving the Na’vi still hiding. He couldn’t remember much from his death, but he could remember who was there; Jake Sully. He knew that he had something to do with his death, and he knew that Jake was alive.Hopefully this next meeting will help clear things up.

He set down the note and picked up the candy again. He unwrapped it and tore a piece off to eat it. His tail began to sway at what you had said earlier and he scoffed. Not that old, it’s just a good piece of candy, he thought to himself as he ate the rest.

Recom Miles Quaritch x FemReader

I am really getting annoyed with the spam bots that follow you...how do I stop them? Anyways, here's a lil something new. Hope ya'll enjoy!

No Warnings applied

Check out my A03 account here<3

The only true thing to be said about yourself, was you were technically a God. Not literally. But in a cosmic, or comedic sense, yes. You were one of the main scientists who restored deceased soldiers' memories and brought them back to life as a recombinant(recom) as the soldiers called them. Stable bodies 100%, perfectly reanimated. You were damn good at it too

And like a God, your believers shot you out of the sky with greed in their eyes and fangs in their smiles.

You were promoted to main physician/doctor or Medical adviser for the Na'vi soldiers. Some bullshit terminology like that, they just needed some smart ass to babysit the blue cats in case they get colds. A fucking joke that was. You had already perfected their bodies to withstand more disease, more injury than humans or animals could. They were perfect. YOU made sure of that and everyone on your team knew that.

And here you are anyway.

You were scribbling away, glancing up once in a while to look at the clock. You have a new patient arriving soon and you only looked over the picture and title. Colonel. Copying down the last patient's file, just Incase she came back with any side effects. She reported headaches, weird visuals when she slept. That was normal with every patient and headaches were mostly due to stress build up. You were hoping to see her again today, she's always cracking awful jokes that made you chuckle.

As sick as it makes you feel, you actually took your job seriously. You hated being downgraded and you wished whoever higher ups made that decision for you, would get alien bird shit in their coffee. However, you didn't hate it. Not really. You had patients you looked forward to every day, sure there was maybe one or two that gave you hell, really it's the human guys but everyone else respected you. Truly. They haven't forgotten your birthday yet either. You have pictures with most of the recom soldiers and it really made you feel good.

A thought crossed your mind, something that made that good feeling drop. You glanced down at your cabinets, seeing the lock and sighing. You haven't sent anything out yet, you'd hope they could last a few more-

Knock knock knock.

You jumped and stood up, smoothing out the wrinkles in your pants and shirt. "Come in." You watch the door open, and a tall blue figure ducking into the doorframe to fit inside. He looked at you, then around the office as he got inside. You smiled softly. "Good to see you moving around so early. Most get sick for another hour." You held your hand out. "I'm Dr. Linear."

He was still looking around. "What is this, like a principal's office?" He laughed softly. When he finally looked down at you, he bent down to shake your hand. "No disrespect to you Doctor. It's just nicer than most offices I've seen." he spots the pictures behind you. "Lotta personal touches." That american accent touched his voice.

You had a tight smile on. "Well when you work my position for a while, you grow close to your patients. In this environment it's easy to get the life drained out of you. I find a personal touch eases a lot of people in a state of comfort." You sit back down. "Not too comfortable though. Those chairs aren't cozy for Na'vi." You noticed his face as he sat, even his tail seemed irritated. He glanced at you again and smiled. "Colonel Miles Quaritch, correct?" You flipped his file open and read over a few lines. "We won't go over personal details yet, I just want to make sure you're feeling okay."

He never stopped staring at you. You weren't uncomfortable with it, but it made you wonder what he was thinking. Most soldiers need a few minutes to get accustomed to their new height and how things feel or look around them. You did hear he got to rest for an hour. He probably hasn't seen a human for this long yet. When he didn't say anything else, you continued. "A few yes or no questions. If you're unsure of one, just say unsure. Any nausea or dizziness?"

"No."

"Muscle spasms or twitches."

"Slightly, in the legs." He watched you write in your notes.

"Unusual bleeding?"

"No."

"Cough or vomiting?"

"No."

"Since it's only been about 3 hours, we'll have to wait a while before I can ask anything else." You close the book and stand, taking your flashlight with you. "Mind showing me where the spasm is?" He reaches down and lifts his pants leg. You kneel down and feel the muscle in his leg.

"Below the knee," he watches. "It stopped an hour ago." You nod and stand up again. You motion him closer, placing a hand on his cheek and checking his eyes, flashing a light for a minute and watching his pupils dilate. His ears perking up and down, and again, his tail flicked side to side. A smile touches your lips. "You'll get used to the tail, the ears though," You place the pen light down. "I think it's in touch with emotion and it's a downside that comes with the new body. That should be everything for now. Any questions or concerns you want to discuss with me before you start physical training?"

Miles was staring at you hard, his jaw flexing and you even saw his tail swing a few times. He had a lot to say, smart remarks he decided to keep to himself, until he can understand you better. His ears perk up and he smiles. "Sure." He stood up, crossing his arms. "Not to start any fires, but if you hate your job, just say so."

"Excuse me?" Your head tilted back, raising an eyebrow as you watched him.

He chuckles. "I can read you like a book, even without these new eyes or senses. You don't have to like me either 'cause I know you don't." He smirked. "Don't pretend to like people and think it would make your job easier. It doesn't." You didn't know it, but he was baiting you. How you reacted would let him know what you were really hiding. If you were calm and laughed off his words, then you actually did enjoy your job, and didn't mind the banter he brought.

"I think you've got it wrong here." You put your hands on your hips and he grinned at your reaction. His prediction was correct. "If you think I don't like you already, you're correct. My job isn't to like you, it's to make sure you're still alive." You take a step forward. "I don't pretend to like anyone here, I have my list of goods and bads in this place and I wouldn't mind telling a few off if given the chance." Your figure was tense now, and your face was the opposite of when he first walked in. This was going much better than he thought. "Lastly, nothing makes my job easier. Pretending or not, I'm stuck here. I've accepted that. Just because you're still high up in command doesn't mean you can waltz in and control my office." You were glaring now, and he just found it adorable from his height. "Now, come back in another 3 hours after your physical training and we can get this all out of the way. Then maybe if you're careful, we won't have to see each other ever again."

Usually at this part of the meeting, you would offer your patient a sucker. It was a funny idea someone gave you, so you started ordering suckers and some cheap candies. Either that or stickers. Grown ass soldiers still act like children and it made your day sometimes. But you highly doubted this man deserved anything out of the mystery bucket.

He was smiling now, but he gave a nod. He didn't say anything else as he turned and ducked out of your office. Once the door was closed, he chanced a peak through a slightly broken blind of your office window. You were slowly rubbing your face in the middle of the office, turning and walking towards the windows that pointed outside. "Never see each other again huh?" Quaritch had enough info on you now. He would have to peek at your work file later, but he could tell you were sour about something. That, and a pretty face like yours getting pissed because of him was entertaining. He didn't expect to get something out of you so quickly. He licked his lips before continuing down the hallway. "We'll see about that, Dr. Linear."

~~~
You eyeball the choices between dry bagel or dry wheat bread. You've had both for so long you could stomach either one. You decided the bagel would suffice being it could be fixed with a cheese spread or just taste healthier with the seeds sprinkled on top. Your plate now had pasta with meat and a bagel, all you were missing was juice. You’d usually drink coffee but after having 4 cups already, you decided you shouldn’t risk a heart attack. Thoughts and worries kept forming in your head, you weren’t paying attention either and mindlessly sat at a table. You kept staring at the bagel, lost in another world further than this one; you didn’t notice the plate being set down in front of you and a tall body sitting down. You then thought back to the coffee you had on your desk and wished you had brought it instead.
You pick up the bagel and bite into it, but don’t pull away from the bread. You were still. Miles watched with some concern. Finally he cleared his throat. “Are you gonna eat that or-” He couldn’t finish because of your coughing fit. You set the bread down and stare at him. After calming down, he smiled. “Ah there you are. Looked like a completely different person for a second there.” You didn’t say anything, instead you quietly sipped your juice. “I acted like an ass earlier. I’m sorry.”
That didn’t sound sincere. You looked up at him and sighed, placing your juice box. “That’s the only apology I’m gonna get?”
“Did you expect more?” His ear twitched.
“You did scare the living shit out of me just a second ago.”
“You did that yourself, doctor. Your head was in LaLa Land.” He waved his hand around. You sigh, tearing a piece of bread off and eating it, chewing quickly. He looked down at his own plate and gave an experimental taste of the pasta and meat. Still tastes like the same shit he ate before, but somehow worse. Saltier, slimey, the meat was tolerable but chewy.
“So, do you still want to interrogate me about my shitty work life? Or have you come to criticize my eating choices too?” You poke and stab some pasta with the fork. There was a chuckle and you had to glance up at him. He was watching you, those strange golden eyes filled with a curiosity you began to suspect had no end.
“I’m actually wonderin’ why I didn’t get to pick out of this uh, mystery box I heard so much about.” He smirked. “The other were talkin’ about it like it was gold.”
You had to look down to hide the smile. So they must have either ratted you out, or teased him for not getting a candy. It’s just a piece of candy. You look back up. “You ended our meeting in a rude manner, I didn’t see a reason for you to pick out the box.”
His ears flattened but his face was still relaxed. They betrayed his need to hide the annoyance. “So, what you’re saying is I have to be good at our meetings in order to pick out of this box?” Now he was leaning forward, as if you were asking him to do the impossible.
“Colonel, are your soldiers teasing you because you didn’t get a candy?” You tried to ask without smiling. You heard a snort and turned your head. Down the table, four Recoms sat, their bodies rigid and still. One of them was shaking and you realized he was laughing. When you looked at Quaritch his ears were laid back and his tail was flicking back and forth. He was looking at the group while his jaw clenched.
“No, nobody is getting teased.” He stuffed his mouth full of pasta. You nodded slowly, eating some more of your bagel. You heard someone clear their throat and continue talking as if they were having this conversation seconds ago.
“You still have to come by the office to finish up your questioning. I’ll be at the physical training area to check off some things.” You stood up and even with Quaritch sitting, he was still taller than you by two heads. “I’ll see you then.” You turned to the other group and made a face. “None of you are getting candy on your next visit.” And as you turned around to leave, the table erupted into groans and even a gasp.
As you walked away, Miles’ ears perked up, a smile on his face as the soldiers whined about the punishment. It was literally childish to be so upset over a piece of sugar. Yet here he was, however, hoping to get a piece by the end of the day.
Synopsis: Your family seeks uturu with the Metkayina in the village of Awa’atlu. You have a difficult time adjusting, and are assigned your own special teacher, Ralak.
Next ->
The Sully family adopted you from birth, taking you in as their own. They were more than patient with your delayed milestones, moving at the slow pace you set since childhood. You completed your iknimaya a cycle later than your siblings, despite your eagerness to prove your self-worth as one of the Sully’s. Being a late bloomer and smaller than the average na’vi never put a damper on your optimistic attitude, though. It only added fuel to the fire.
The news to seek uturu with the Metkayina came as a shock not only to you but the rest of your siblings, and soon became the leading topic of discussions at family dinner. Jake explained that this is what was necessary, and that you would need to ‘pull your weight’ and ‘make a real effort’. You knew he didn’t mean it as harsh as it sounded, but the words stung nonetheless, plucking out a couple heart strings when they pierced through your chest.
You’ll never forget the day of your arrival here.
War horns blew loudly, signalling your arrival to the village of Awa’atlu. All the members of the clan swarmed the shore to see what the fuss was all about. Even the little ones that could only toddle wriggled their way out of their parents’ arms to get a glimpse. It was overwhelming – to say the least – to have all these eyes on you, scanning every foreign feature of your body, walking around you to inspect you further. You’d never felt more objectified in your life.
When Tonowari and Ronal made their grand entrance on their skimwings, your heart thud furiously in your chest. Sure, the large, winged fish took you by surprise, but the man to Tonowari’s right shook you to your core. His head tilted in wariness, hunting knife secured cautiously in his right hand and the leather wrapped reign gripped tightly in his left.
Wet, long hair plastered to his chest; he eyed you down momentarily before averting his gaze to the rest of your family that calmed their ikrans. His eyes widened ever so slightly at the winged creatures, large with armoured skin, much like the beast he’s bonded with.
You couldn’t help but stare aghast at his sinewy, chiselled features – sculpted by Eywa herself. It didn’t take long for you to understand why he was Tonowari’s right-hand man. His expression of indifference remained fixed on his face. Embodying that of an akula, his presence brought an intimidation like no other.
But what you couldn’t understand were the butterflies that plagued your stomach.
Your gaze lingered for a moment too long, the akula himself now returning the leer. It sent shivers down your spine, turning your butterflies into knots. You looked away, gaze falling onto your toes that burrowed their way into the sand. You felt his eyes bore into you, taking in each dark blue stripe on your tiny body, your slender extremities and thin tail.
You peeked at him through the corner of your eye, to see his gaze locked on your tail as it swished side to side. You saw his ears perk up, and the minor curl of his lips, a sight only a person staring as intently as you would see. You watched as his expression morphed into one of confusion, just before he dropped his head all together.
You would later come to find out that he couldn’t quite understand his own butterflies in his stomach.
The giant stayed seated on his winged beast, as Tonowari and Ronal dismounted theirs and crossed the shore in only a few strides. Initially, they were wary of your arrival, thinking your family would bring war to their village. After your father reassured them, they were gracious enough to grant uturu for your family, and even dispatched their own children to teach you the ways of the people.
Naturally, you had a hard time adjusting to the new biome, water was never really your thing to begin with. You were slow in the water, slender body only holding you back more. The olo’eyktan’s son, Ao’nung, quickly grew agitated with you, handing you off to his sister, Tsireya, who was already overwhelmed with teaching your siblings. You felt like a burden, holding everyone back during lessons. There was absolutely nothing that you were getting the hang of, not even the ‘finger talk’ as you brother calls it.
For the first in your life, you felt completely defeated.
The sweet, determined girl disappeared, leaving nothing but her shell behind. You started missing lessons, making up reasons to stay back in your family marui pod. You often found yourself alone sitting on the shore in the height of the eclipse, dipping your feet into the warm water. Jake would always find his babygirl, demanding to know what was wrong. But you could never reveal the truth, not after what he said to you before your departure. Especially not now, not after failing so terribly for two entire months.
At this point, your siblings had passed their iknimaya, and you were the only one left.
----
Tsireya presses two fingertips right above your navel, resting her other hand on your chest, fixing your posture. “Breathe from down here. You must slow down your heartbeat, y/n.”
You’ve heard this a million times by now. You know this, but it didn’t matter. No matter how hard you tried, you just couldn’t get it. Frustrated, you exhale harshly, gritting your teeth so you won’t speak the words flooding your mind.
“Look. I know you’re frustrated, but you are getting so much better. If we just keep –”
“No! I’m fucking tired of this. I’ll never get it. Alright?!” you shout, shuffling to your feet to.
You scan the circle of surprised na’vi, all of which are staring up at you in disbelief. You could see Tsireya’s face screw with hurt, which only makes your heart ache more. An apology brews in your chest, when all five pairs of eyes flicker to something behind you. Turning on your heels, you see what everyone is looking at.
Jake, Tonowari, and his right-hand man all standing in front of you, presumably listening to your every word. You stand there for a bit, eyes bouncing between Tonowari and Jake before landing on the giant. He stands tall, staring off into the distance with that same deadpan look on his face. His hair is tucked behind his ears, revealing the stud in his lobe, the freckles on his jaw – the deeper blue markings on his neck.
This is the first time you’re getting a good look at him, seeing the first time you two met things were... eventful.
His freckles are conspicuous, even in broad daylight, beautifully patterned and abundant throughout his body. Perhaps it’s his lighter-cyan coloured skin and swirls for stripes, but his freckles twinkled just right from the reflection of the water. They even seemed to trace his stripe pattern on his forehead and brow bones. A single tahni under each eye... his ocean, impassive eyes.
A sleeve of tattoos covers his right arm, a sleeve on his right knee to his ankle, and a tattoo of stripes below his navel that went underneath his – oh. Your brows lift slightly, tensed facial muscles relaxing.
That’s an interesting place for a tattoo.
This tattoo continued between his prominent v-lines, under the band of his loincloth. You begin counting the stripes.
One, two, three, four, five... six.
It takes the sound of Jake clearing his throat for you to reluctantly peel your eyes away from this poor man’s crotch.
“Right, babygirl. Ralak here is going to be your teacher from now on.” Jake motions his hand over to the Metkayina, who’s now visibly, and unsuccessfully, trying to appear friendlier.
You couldn’t help but scoff, frustration now bubbling over in your chest once more. “So what? I’m so shit at this that I need a ‘special’ teacher?” you glance over at Ralak and roll your eyes.
“Language!” Jake whispers harshly, giving you that look. The look he gives you when you’re embarrassing him.
“No. I’m tired of this. I want to go home.” you shrug, storming past him just for him to wrap his hand around your upper arm and drag you back.
“That’s enough.” Jake growls, bending over to meet you at eye level. “Tonowari has been kind enough to arrange for Ralak to help you. He was once a fisherman.”
“The best. At about your age.” Tonowari stands proudly as he utters the words, “And now he’s one of the best warriors. I hand selected him myself.”
Your eyes flicker over to Ralak, whose ears lay flat against his skull, brows slightly pinched, jaw clenched. It’s hard to tell what he was feeling, his mask of indifference fixed tightly on his face. Was he grimacing? Or maybe he was trying not to.
Regardless, it looked as if the words upset him. Maybe there was something more beneath this cold exterior. Something that maybe you can pry out of him. Something that intrigued you. The corners of your lips curl upwards, an expression that any outsider would perceive as happiness, but Jake knew you had something else in mind.
Something more mischievous.
“I apologize, sir. I am... just frustrated.” your eyes shift from one giant to the next as you bow before the olo’eyktan. “It would be an honour to have Ralak be my...” you glance over at him, “...karyu [teacher].”
Jake remains silent, pursing his lips as he watches the scene unfold.
“Ah. I understand.” Tonowari smirks, shrugging his shoulder. “It is decided, Ralak will teach you.” he looks at Ralak, giving the order, “Today.”
Jake raises his brows at you, as if he were telling you to behave and not cause any trouble. You tilt your head and subtly stick out just the tip of your tongue. Tonowari walks away, a large hand brushing against Jake’s back to signal him to follow. Jake turns around and joins the larger na’vi, two olo’eyktans now making their way back to the tall mangroves.
“Hey, karyu.” you sing, eyes fluttering as you stare up at the towering man.
He looks down at you for a moment, eyes flickering between your eyes and lips. His ears twitch as he swiftly turns around, walking away from you. “Come.”
So that’s what his voice sounds like.
It’s gruff, yet smoky. Deep and husky, thick with... nothing but his Metkayina accent. It was flat and monotone, revealing nothing of his true character. You follow closely behind him, already excited about how you plan to get him to reveal more about himself. He seems to be a man of few words, reserved and... composed. You couldn’t deny that there is a part of you that wants to poke at him, to see how far you can take things with him.
Before you know it, you’re standing in a secluded clearing on the shore, nestled far away where the fishermen tend to hunt. You look around, scanning your surroundings with curious eyes. You see a secluded marui pod, seemingly larger than all the others you’ve seen thus far. It's tightly woven with orange and red sturdy material, secured tightly to the thick mangrove roots around it.
“That yours?” you stick him with your first poke of the day, eager eyes trying to look inside the marui.
His gaze remains fixed on the fishnet that he’s gathering in his hands. “Yes.”
“Pretty big for...” you mumble, shifting your gaze towards him to be met with the sight of him unbuckling his cumberbund. “...just one person.” your voice dwindles in volume, fading out into a breathy whisper.
If your eyes could protrude from your head anymore, they would. You always had a hard time masking how you feel as your facial expressions were quick to give it away. His cumberbund falls into the wet sand, embellished razor sharp akula teeth piercing its surface. Your eyes trail up his body, settling on his bare chest.
“Today, fishing net. Tomorrow, ilu.” he mutters, putting his hair into a loose bun as he ventures further into the water.
“O-kay.” the word comes out broken and awkward.
Venturing out into the water, he settles in the spot he used to go frequently as a fisherman. Waist deep into the water, he looks behind him, chin meeting his chest to land his gaze on you, chest-deep in the water. He realizes that he's gone too far out for you, and walks towards you.
Your beaded top plasters to your chest, revealing your peaked nipples as your breasts bounce with the tide. His eyes quickly avert to the shore, eyelids fluttering a little faster than they should.
“Come.” he walks past you, prompting you to follow him once more. You bounce your way back to the shore until the water is crashing into your stomach. “Watch.” he says, fixing his stance to show you a demonstration.
You watch intently, focus being on the wrong thing, honestly. Your eyes had a hard time looking away from his chiselled body – from each dip and ridge of his muscles on full display. How could you focus? Especially now that he’s barely thigh deep into the water, loincloth clung to his bulge. You swallowed thickly at the sight, was that huge thing really his –
“Erm. Got it?” the sound of him clearing his throat snaps you out of your deep thought.
“Mhm!” you nod quickly, doe eyed and genial smiled.
He nods once, handing you the netting. You take it slowly, buying yourself sometime to figure out how to throw this thing. Standing with your left foot in front of your right, you bend your elbows out, holding the yoke of the net close to your chest.
He grunts in disapproval, settling behind you to fix your stance. He gently kicks your feet apart, putting your dominant foot in front. Large hands grip your tiny waist, shifting your stance slightly to the left. They slip up your sides, and run along the length of your upper arms, stopping at your elbows to tuck them in. He’s so focused on correcting your poor posture that he doesn’t even realize how he’s pressing himself against you.
“Like this.” he huffs, hand enveloping yours to shift it further from the yoke of the cast net. “Hold here.” his other hand grabs the lead line and plunks it into yours.
Heart pounding at a dangerous speed, you take a few deep breaths. Perhaps it was the nerves of casting your first net, or maybe it was just how this gentle giant is pressed against you. Either way, you can’t ignore the butterflies that flutter in your stomach again.
“Now throw.” he says barely over a whisper, backing away from you.
You twist your upper body, core tensing when you throw the net as hard as you can, only for it to clump together rather than spread out. Your shoulders drop and lips press tight, a wave of disappointment washing over you.
“Again.” he orders, pulling the net towards him.
--
Ralak had you throw the net half a dozen more times before giving you your first break. You prodded and poked at him, trying your best pry personal information out of him – to no avail. He remained unaffected by your persistent jabs, revealing nothing other than how he pined for the days of being a fisherman.
“Karyu. I-I’ll never get it.” you huff in frustration, gathering the fishnet from the surface of the water for a tenth time.
“Again.” he says patiently, unbothered by your frustration.
“Karyu. Please. It is not working. Can’t we try something else?” you beg, arms and back sore from throwing the fishnet so many times.
He looks at you for a moment, taking in the slouch of your back – the strain on your face. He felt bad for you, but he could also see that you were so close to learning the skill.
“No. Again.” he orders monotonously, taking note of your gaze drifting off to the mangroves nearby. “Focus. Eyes on me.”
“How am I supposed to focus when you look so, so –” you cut yourself short with a sigh.
“So, what?” he tilts his head and raises a brow.
You shake your head and roll your eyes, landing them right on that damn tattoo again.
Why was it so low? Didn’t that hurt? Why there of all places?
“Look. I see you –”
The words make your eyes snap up to his, heart thumping wildly in your chest.
“...staring.”
You didn’t realise you were lingering until he pointed it out. How could you not? Surely, he chose that spot for a reason. Perhaps his mate wanted it there, so she could trace the lines with her tongue, all the way down to his –
Am I... jealous right now? I don’t even know this man.
“Who did that tattoo?” you question harshly, green flame of envy igniting in your chest.
“This one?” he chuckles softly, tugging at the hem of his loincloth.
You drop your head, gaze locked on your hands fiddling with the net, hoping to hide the blood that’s rushing to your cheeks. “Yeah. That one.”
“Again. And I tell you.” he pulls the hem back up before crossing his arms over his chest.
Your gaze snaps back up to him, eyes wide with excitement. This is the first time he’d be revealing anything personal about himself. A smile splits your lips as you fix the net in your hands once more, burrowing your feet into the sand. Your eyes narrow on the target – a school of fish off in the near distance.
Twisting your torso, you cast the fishnet, watching it splay out perfectly and trap majority of the fish. You stare in awe, surprised that it even splayed out much less caught some fish. Once it registers, you jump up in glee, quickly turning to your teacher to see his pleased expression and slight nod.
“I did.” he utters, a smirk barely pulling at his lips.
Adrenaline still coursing through your veins, you’re perplexed by his two words. “Huh?” you huff, brows pinching together in confusion.
“I did the tattoo.” he says, holding eye contact with you.
“Oh.” your lips pucker at the words, furrowed brows now raising in understanding. Being so surprised by yourself – finally getting something right – you forgot about your little deal.
He breaks eye contact to look over at your perfectly casted fishnet. “If you ride an ilu, maybe I show you the rest of it.” he says through his thick accent, making his way towards the fishnet. “Since you are so... interested.”
“I-I’m not – it, it is just in a – an interesting spot.” you stutter, eyes locked onto your twiddling thumbs.
“Ah.” he gathers the fishnet in his large hands, bundling it together to call it a day. “If you say so... vultsyìp [stick; tree branch]”
“What did you just call me?” your leer snaps up, eyelids squinting at his tensed back muscles that flex and relax as he gathers the net.
A smile pulls at his lips, although you can barely see it from the angle in which he’s facing. It’s contagious, causing your own lips to curl, and soon enough you’re giggling into your hand.
----
Ralak became the light in the darkness, pulling you out of your shell and filling you with the purpose that you once lost. Things came quick to you, thanks to him. He was a great teacher, always patient with you, never showing his agitation – or any other emotion for that matter.
You learned how to hold your breath properly in only a week, due to his persistence and confidence in you. He’d always be quick to praise you after you accomplished something, whether that be with a quick clap, a gentle tap on the back, or – in bigger accomplishments – a hug.
The bond between the two of you strengthened. Overnight. You put a crack in his walls, and bits of his true self began to shine through them. And that was your biggest accomplishment yet. To see a person with the strength of five men turn into a little water puppy in front of you, and you only.
There would be moments where his façade of indifference would drop completely. The moments where he would chuckle a little too loudly, a little too long. Where that shy smile grew wide enough to flash his lengthy canines, and a primal part of you that you tried to supress, desired to know what they felt like sunk into your neck. Clamping down on you while you writhe underneath him, being tamed by his touch.
The moments where you’d tease one another about your differences. His stature in comparison to yours. Pressing your hands together, only for yours to be lost in his palm. And when you pulled away, your fingers intertwined ever so slightly, prickling the skin all over your body. He loved to tease you. Honestly a little too much, poking at your chest with a figurative finger about how you favoured that of a vultsyìp. It’s what got you riled up the most and soon it became your nickname.
Until the day you successfully rode your first ilu.
It was an exhilarating experience, nothing like what you had experienced prior. You glided through the water effortlessly, flowing with the movements of the blubbery creature. When you broke the waters’ surface, Ralak stood proudly in the shallow end, arms crossed over his chest with a smile on his face. It was a rare occurrence – that smile.
And when you laid your eyes on such a sight, the butterflies flew back into your stomach, fluttering and flapping harder than they ever have. They soon became plenty in number, filling your stomach to the brim until you can no longer suppress the way you feel. The flutter in your stomach radiated throughout your body, sending your legs fluttering too. You swam quickly to him, surprising yourself with your speed.
--
“You did it. Like I said.” he smiles smugly.
“Hope you didn’t forget about our deal.” you grin, wringing out the water from your hair.
“You would not let me.” he scoffs, shaking his head as he uncrosses his arms. “Ready?” he asks, cocking a brow while his fingers glide down his stomach, finding purchase under the under the band of his loincloth.
“From the moment I saw it, karyu.” you say, voice feigned with confidence.
He could see through your disguise, though. It only makes him chuckle, to see such a little thing act so big – so dauntless. He tugs his loincloth down, taut strings now sinking into his upper thighs, revealing not only the entirety of his tattoo but also the base of his length.
“H-how did you manage to do that all on your own? Didn’t it hurt?” you ask sheepishly, voice laced with concern.
“Bottle of fermented fruit and a rag to bite. No pain.” he answers, Metkayina accent thick.
You examine it a little closer, leaning in to have a better look. It’s raised, very slightly – invisible to anyone not staring as intently as you are. Most definitely because it’s hand poked, by himself of all people. An innocent thought floods your mind, so loud that you couldn’t stop the movement of your own hand.
How does it feel?
“Can I –” you glance up at him briefly, hand hovering over the tattoo, “Can I touch it?”
His brows and ears shudder for just a few seconds. He quickly regains his composure, swallowing silently before giving you a single nod. Fingertips experimentally graze over the tattoo, taking in its bumpy texture. Your digits trace each line of his tattoo, down to his pelvis. A sudden jerk of his hips causes you to yank your hand back.
“S-sorry, Ralak.” you mumble, feeling a little ashamed that you may have made him uncomfortable.
But in all honesty, your innocent, little touches were arousing him and he didn’t want you to know.
“Nothing to be sorry about.” he states, fixing his loincloth.
You straighten your spine, a foot stepping back to create space that you think he wants, only for him to pull you in for a hug.
“You did well today, vultsyìp.” he mumbles, hands resting on your head and back. “Tsurak [skimwing] next and you will be Metkayina.”
“Hmm. I’ll think about it.” you giggle, warm embrace and snarky commentary ebbing away whatever feelings of doubt tensing your chest.
It’s the way his huge arms engulf you that make you feel so protected and accepted. It’s something you always looked forward to after a big achievement. You lean into him, laying your head on his chest. The smell of sea salt mixed with leather hide wafts up your nose. You take a deep breath, holding it in your lungs until you feel light in the head. Releasing your breath with a loud huff, you smile widely.
It’s so enticing, so addictive.
“You always do that.” he chuckles breathily, swiping back a few strands of hair stuck to your temple.
“’ts not my fault you sea people smell so good.” you mumble into his chest, taking in another deep breath.
“Ah.” he exhales, hand cupping the back of your head. “My hì’i vultsyìp [little stick]” he almost grimaces at his words, it just wasn’t fitting anymore. Not for situations like these. Not when his chest feels so tight.
You lift your head and stare up at him with eyes of innocence. He looks down at you, ocean blue eyes searching yours. You’d never even noticed the little yellow ring around his pupils until now, how they shimmer when the light catches them just right. There’s an unspoken tension, thick in the air – so thick it makes you swallow the spit pooling in your cheeks. Your smile fades, lips parting as your breaths turn hot.
Eyes growing heavy, they almost close in anticipation that he might – just might – kiss you.
“Tanhì.” he mutters, eyes minutely shifting between each freckle on your forehead. He’s counts them, admiring how they embellish your supple, dark blue skin.
Your smile returns like it never left, except it’s wider – brighter. The last ray of sun shines through the sliver of a gap between your silhouettes, averting your attention to the oncoming eclipse.
“Thank you, karyu.” you whisper, reluctantly pulling away from his arms to make the trek back home.
“Tomorrow...” he watches your small figure shrink as you walk away. “...my tanhì.”
USDFDHEFHDG THIS GOT ME GIGGLINF AND EVERYTHING i loveeeddd it <33
𝐀 𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 — (𝐍𝐄𝐓𝐄𝐘𝐀𝐌 𝐒𝐔𝐋𝐋𝐘)
𝐀 𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 — (𝐍𝐄𝐓𝐄𝐘𝐀𝐌 𝐒𝐔𝐋𝐋𝐘)
— language, just two flustered dorks & a ton of fluff, sort of love at first sight (?), friends to lovers, brief fake relationship, eventual jealous!neteyam, kissing, heavy angst & character death.
just this once. you were supposed to help tsireya out just this once. but how are you supposed to help out your best friend when it involves distracting one of the most sought-after warriors from their clan? how are you supposed to distract him for a single day without catching feelings for him? you find yourself in a position where you realize it's impossible for you to meet neteyam "just this once".
a/n: this is just a prologue to the actual story, so i don't expect it to do well lol (please don't let the general fluff deceive you, this story doesn't have a happy ending !!)
𝐀 𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 — (𝐍𝐄𝐓𝐄𝐘𝐀𝐌 𝐒𝐔𝐋𝐋𝐘)
"hellooo, earth to na’vi?" tsireya called, waving her hand in front of your distracted gaze.
it was early in the morning when she managed to find you tending to the ilus by the reef, her unannounced visit catching you off guard. you only sighed at her words as you turned to face her.
"you should stop spending so much time with that forest boy, you're starting to sound like him." you muse, prompting a soft laugh from your best friend.
the moment you got up and started your descent back into the village, tsireya trailed closely behind. you narrowed your eyes as she followed you silently. she was up to something.
"what is it?" you sighed. despite your attention focused on what was in front of you, you could sense her growing smile from behind.
"about that forest boy.." she grinned, already sensing your intrigue.
"i’m listening." you hummed, exchanging quick greetings with the passerby clan members.
"i need you to distract his brother." she whispered, her words only making you quirk a brow.
it had been two weeks since the sullys first arrived. like tsireya, you were happy to welcome them into the clan. the only difference, however, was that you had no time to be around them.
as awa'atlu's hidden jewel, you had spent an ample amount of your time practicing your dance choreography for the clan's future celebrations instead.
today's duties would be no different.
"you know i'm far too busy with rehearsals to waste time with some boy." you sighed, noticing her disappointed frown.
"it’s not like you have a choice! my father requested you teach them the history of our upcoming dance festival." she pouted.
in all honesty, you weren't surprised—coming from a family whose legacy is known for passing down the title of being the clan’s sole principal dancer, you would be the most suitable for the task.
"so you're trying to sneak off with your crush while i’m at work?" you jokingly scoffed.
"and what if i am?" she grinned.
"you’ve become shameless, tsireya." you laughed, nudging your elbow into hers.
"come on, do it for me! you’ve already been ordered to meet with them today." she insisted, tugging at your arm. you only stared into her doe eyes as she silently waited for you to give in—which of course, worked.
"if it's my duty, i suppose i don't have a choice. but you owe me for this." you sighed before shortly erupting in giggles as she pulled you by the hand to the sully’s pod.
making your way over, tsireya was first to knock. the sound of her sudden presence only caused lo’ak to stumble over his brother's wooden carving. peeking your head in, the two of you couldn't help but laugh as you witnessed neteyam scowl at his brother.
"tsireya! and.. tsireya’s friend? what’s up?" lo’ak greeted as his brother only turned his head at the mention of another face.
"lo’ak, this is my closest friend—the one who'll be joining us today at the reef." you silently waved as tsireya introduced your name.
"nice to meet you." he hummed, pausing for a brief moment. there was a sudden hint of hesitation in his eyes.
"you.. haven't heard anything about me from the others, have you? you can't trust a single thing ao'nung says." he jokes nervously.
"oh, trust me, i’ve already heard a lot of things about you from tsire—mmph!" your words were cut off the moment tsireya palmed her hand over your mouth, hissing.
fortunately, your banter was cut short the moment his elder brother made his way over to the three of you. slowly releasing her hand from your face, tsireya cleared her throat.
"ah—this is neteyam." she coughed. a few moments passed in silence before she noticed how you froze up.
“introduce yourself.” she whispered, nudging your arm with her elbow to speak. your back naturally straightened in response as heat rose to your cheeks.
“i’m—uh, nice to.. meet you?” you stuttered. shit. it was your first time meeting him and you’ve already embarrassed yourself, you mentally cursed.
“hey nice to meet you, i’m neteyam.” he silently mused.
nobody laughed but him.
neteyam only mouthed a small 'what?' as everyone stared at him for a few moments. you, however, couldn't hold back a chuckle.
it wasn't the joke itself that was funny—no, the joke was absolutely terrible. instead, it was the confused expression on his face, as if he hadn't just dropped the worst joke imaginable.
“bro, are you trying to win worldwide fame for unfunny jokes?” lo’ak sighed.
“i thought it was pretty funny.” he shrugged, his eyes silently searching for your reaction.
“yeah, funny.” you scoffed, meeting his gaze for a stilled moment.
his expression was serious, but you noticed the way it slightly softened when he looked at you. as if the way he looked at you just felt different from the way he looked at everyone else.
you can't quite put your finger on it, but there's just something that makes you think you might just get along with him.
tsireya only grinned as the two of you unknowingly locked eyes for what seemed like an eternity.
"well, if you don't want the day to pass us, i suggest the two of you join at us at the reef!" tsireya waved, grabbing lo’ak’s hand. as you watched their figures retreat, neteyam’s tail tapped your leg.
“shall we?” he hummed, slightly bowing down like a prince as he took a few steps before you.
“why of course, my liege.” you mocked whilst doing a slight curtsy. you couldn’t help but reciprocate his coy smile as you followed him to the edge of the docks.
you were the first of the four to dive into the water, submerging your entire body until your hair was completely soaked. you watched as neteyam stood over you from the dock while lo’ak and tsireya jumped in.
“you do swim, do you not?” you smiled, looking up at him from below. for a few moments, he didn't respond. you frowned at the fact that you couldn't read his expression.
what are you thinking? is what you wanted to ask him, but the two of you had just met, and you didn't think it would be appropriate to pry, no matter how curious you were.
what neteyam couldn't tell you, however, was that he couldn't get into the water because he was too focused on you.
what were the chances of the sun's horizon hitting your face the exact moment you were before him? the orange rays shined brightly onto your features.
golden hour looked beautiful on you.
"…what a ridiculous question." he scoffed, dismissing his thoughts. you only smiled as droplets of water splashed onto you the moment he dived in.
"you finally joined us." tsireya laughed, swimming further out with lo’ak on their ilus.
following their lead, you called for your ilu, diving underwater to grab onto the saddle and resurfacing shortly after. the moment you returned to neteyam’s side, he couldn't help but watch as your ilu nuzzled it's face against his.
"mine’s got quite the charm." he hummed, though you only snorted at his smug remark.
"what?" he questioned, eyeing your unimpressed reaction.
"these ilus are mated, neteyam." you laughed, watching as he mouthed a silent 'oh'. you were quick to swim further ahead, calling out to him as you turned back.
"come on, forest boy. we have places to explore!" you smiled, turning around to follow after tsireya and lo’ak. neteyam only shook his head, scoffing a laugh before following shortly behind.
a few minutes into the journey, you suddenly paused, sitting still atop your ilu for a brief moment. your eyes focused on the horizon as you basked in the warmth of the sun on your face.
"what’s wrong, tired already?" neteyam teased, making his way to your side.
"don’t get funny with me." you scoffed, playfully pushing him off his ilu with your leg. you erupted in laughter as you watched him slowly rise back up to the surface, glaring.
"very funny, now help me back up." he sighed.
you hummed and offered your hand as you waited for him to settle back atop his ilu, though your smile only faded as his next action caught you off guard.
the moment he grabbed onto your hand, he pulled you down with him. you could only yelp as you already felt yourself falling in. rising back up to the surface, you gasped for air, turning to face neteyam’s satisfied expression.
"you’re a pain." you scoff, running your fingers through your hair and out of your face as neteyam stole a glance while you weren't looking.
once again, neteyam watched as the orange hues clashed with your teal skin—sunkissed and glowing with shades of gold displayed naturally onto you.
he figured if anyone was the embodiment of the sun's beauty, it'd be you.
you eventually met back up with tsireya and lo’ak, spending the following hours swimming through the ocean till sunset. the four of you conversed on your ilus, floating still above the deep ocean. along the way, you taught the two brothers about the tradition of awa'atlu's celebrations.
"the clan continues to hold the festival annually to mark another year of living among the reefs. it’s a symbol of the clan's life and our peace." you remarked.
"…and you dance for such a grand occasion?" lo’ak awed.
"mhm, so does ao'nung. our festival is to take place in the following weeks, your family arrived just in time." you hummed.
as the sun began to set, your conversation had gradually come to an end. you began to wonder when exactly tsireya would need your 'help', though your question was shortly answered.
"you know, i was actually hoping to assist a certain someone with their diving skills before the day ends." tsireya coughed, narrowing her eyes at lo’ak. anyone could see how smitten he was with her by the way his tail instantly swayed at her words.
"alright, let's get on with it then." neteyam hummed.
shit.
in that moment, you realized exactly what you needed to do, mentally cursing neteyam for being so blissfully ignorant. and if it wasn't clear enough already, tsireya’s glare spoke for itself. as she tilted her head at you, the question 'what are you waiting for?' was written all over her face.
"ah, wait—actually, neteyam!" you called, your words causing him to turn back.
"i was wondering if you could accompany me—back to the.. beach." you blurted, his questioned expression only made you gulp.
"there’s a certain spot that me and tsireya like to visit, it's beautiful past dusk."
"i’ll.. i’ll be busy, for the next few days—so today may be the only time in which i’ll get to show it to you." you reasoned.
as neteyam turned back to tsireya and lo’ak for their thoughts, he was met with his brother glaring at him to agree and tsireya smiling happily.
"it’s a very lovely place, neteyam. i’ll make sure to bring lo'ak there as well." she exclaimed.
"then.. if you're happy to have me, i’d like to come along." he smiled, waiting for your directions. you sighed at his words, feeling a giant weight lift off your chest as tsireya made her way to your side.
"well, i’ll meet back with you before eclipse! have fun." she smiled. you only sighed as she mouthed a quick 'thank you' before swimming off with lo’ak. you turned back to face neteyam, huffing quietly as you realized you wouldn't be returning home anytime soon.
the orange skies of pandora were slowly replaced with purple as the sun began to set. the two of you walked down the path that was dimly lit by torches as younger children ran past you giggling. a few were quick to run into your arms, calling out your name as they laughed.
"what are you all doing out this late? your mother is probably looking for you, hurry back!" you smiled, ruffling their hair.
"please show us your dancing again!" the youngest begged, tugging at your sash. the others eagerly nodded as they stood in front of your crouched figure.
"how about i let you all come by and watch me rehearse tomorrow morning instead?" you smiled, handing them a small seashell that you'd previously collected from the ocean.
despite your wager, the kids persisted, begging to stay. neteyam did nothing but watch in silence as you spoke to them. he couldn't help but smile, feeling feel his heart tighten at the sight of seeing qualities of his youngest sister in them.
soon after, the eldest child, perhaps around six or seven, showed up and saw you and neteyam with their siblings. their ears turned down in embarrassment as they completely misunderstood the situation.
"you guys! can’t you see they're on a date? come on, let's head home!" the eldest scolded, muttering apologies to both you and neteyam while you stood up.
"what? wait, we aren't—"
your words were cut short as neteyam took your hand and interlaced his fingers with yours. his hands were huge, his fingers were slender, and his touch was warm compared to your own.
"that’s right, you should all head home before your parents get worried." neteyam smiled, watching them all apologize before quickly running back home to their pod. you only narrowed your eyes at him the moment they left.
"what? they would've never left had i not gone along with it." he smiled.
the two of you carried on walking down the path, though you found yourself unable to muster up anything as you realized his hand was still holding yours.
neteyam, however, was quick to notice your silence. like the respectable son he was, he was quick to let go, apologizing.
"wait—sorry, i didn't realize—did i make you uncomfortable?" he stuttered, mumbling apologies.
"what? oh—no! no. i just.." you struggled to find the right words to say as he continued to stare down at you.
"sorry, your eyes make me shy." you weakly mumbled, covering your flustered face with your hands for a brief moment.
after what seemed like minutes, you slowly peeked through your fingers to see neteyam’s reaction as he continued to fall silent. safe to say, it was the complete opposite of what you were expecting.
"are you.. blushing?" you questioned.
"what? no." he retorted almost instantly. for some reason, seeing him in such a state brought back the casual expression you once had.
"don’t tell me.. i got the ever-stoic neteyam to blush?"
"no, it's.. the cold." he huffed, pointing out the fact that the sun had just completely fallen.
"the cold, and not what i just said?" as you watched him look away to the side, you hardly found the words to carry yourself casually.
"no."
he was blushing harder.
you took a deep breath in, eyeing back and forth between him and his hand. finally, you chose to take the latter, grabbing his hand into yours as you pulled him to the spot you and tsireya spoke of.
"wait, what are you—"
"does this answer your question?" you voiced, weakly smiling as you walked further towards the outskirts. watching your figure guide him forward, all neteyam could do was smile.
"yeah."
you let go of his hand once the two of you reached the spot. otuer than the shoreline leading to the reef, it was a secluded sandbank far from the village that was surrounded by enormous rocks. it had a view of the full moon right above the ocean in the center. neteyam only stood there in awe of the view.
"what do you think? was it worth the wait?" you smiled.
"definitely.” he sighed, walking toward the shore and stepping his feet into the water. his smile as he turned back to face you made your heart skip a beat. maybe once, twice, shit—maybe even three times.
there’s just something moon-soaked and dawn-flavored about him, something kissed by the stars and loved by the night. neteyam was a warrior who was your opposite in every way. and yet, in some ways, the two of you seemed to be the exact same.
you were only supposed to help tsireya distract him, just this once. but the damage was already done the moment your eyes met.
something began to spark.
the two of you continued to revel under the moonlight until tsireya finally returned with lo’ak. as neteyam showed his brother the view, tsireya was quick to pull you over.
"so, how was it?" she smiled.
"it wasn't as bad as i thought it'd be." you shrugged, your gaze fixed upon neteyam’s figure as his back faced you. tsireya, being the observant person she was, made note of this. there was nothing you could do that your best friend couldn't notice.
"then, i sense the two of you have gotten close?" she teased.
"don’t start, tsireya. i was just helping you for today." you sigh, your thoughts contradicting your words.
"whatever you say." she hummed.
"but just so you know.."
"you’re not very hard to read." she grinned, walking back towards the two brothers. you swore your felt your eye twitch at her words.
as tsireya pulled lo’ak over and continued to gaze up at the moon, you faced neteyam, one last time.
"i guess this is my cue to go." you hummed, watching his tail sway back and forth like a cat.
"yeah." he smiled hesitantly.
"…"
"will i.."
"will i see you again?" neteyam questioned. you paused for a brief moment, contemplating your next, careful words.
"i don't know." you responded, observing his slight frown.
"but i hope so." you whispered.
"yeah?" he smiled.
"i hope so too."
