You must learn the truth from yourself.’ honestly kenshin doesn't care if he dies alone because most of the franchise thinks he honestly deserves it and if anyone can ever match him enough to kill him it's deserved for all he's taken even for the sake of a new era. doesn't excuse the killing. i almost dismissed this one but got it twice and the last lines are on point. he is absolutely terrified of himself and the inner hitokiri; the manifestation of darkness in him that represents all his sins all he's lost. even before he /ever/ became a hitokiri all kenshin knew was toil sl / avery and death / illness / plague. tomoe was the /first/ happy thing to ever enter his life. i argue hiko had his moments but we know he isn't the most emotionally hands on. but yes kenshin is /scared of himself/ especially in the tokyo / kyoto arc and with his kind of skill and power....why shouldn't he be? he's used it to kill and it's ended a war. 'strongest of the bakumatsu'. what could he do if he loses control of his emotions and gives into that dormant dragon anger? this hurts me so much. but it's very true. i think kenshin has always accepted he would die alone. but the kenshingumi won't let him. and his will to live won't either :' )
