Finally got to design "prehistoric" Mary Poppins. Now she's an arctocyon (or bear dog)
it would be so funny if in season 2 (let me be delusional okay) during flashback of edwin and charles creating the Agency, we would get a scene where Charles is testing his magic backpack and makes a Mary Poppins references and start fucking singing Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. And Edwin being super confused in the background because the language nerd he is is trying to understand what Charles just said.

In questioning my "auntie" (first cousin once removed) Mary's Disney film: Why doesn't Mr Banks (in A British Bank) not question his children's outings? Just calls them questionable. (Hmmm)
In Mary Poppins, theres a line in the song "Step in Time" that confuses me. Mrs Brill goes "They're at it again" before hitting the sweeps with a pan or something.
Why are we not told more about the last time this happened?
Was it the same house and the same sweeps?

Here’s one of my school projects! We had to make a UPA-style theater set of a series/movie. I took Mary Poppins :)
I really don’t have the time to work on personnal stuff, sadly, so I’ll try to post my most interesting school projects once in a while.

random facts about a local production i did

context for future reference: this was mary poppins jr, and we did the version that spilt into two acts (in the middle of a song mind you)
and out differences between act 1 and act 2 leads was kinda hilarious,,,, I’ll go down the line
act 1 vs act 2 george/winifred banks:: n/a, same actors
act 1 vs act 2 micheal:: loses a few inches, went from strawberry blonde(?) to a brunette
act 1 vs act 2 jane:: lost several inches (went from roughly same height as micheal to a quite a bit shorter for reference), brunette to blonde
act 1 vs act 2 Bert:: paler, straighter hair, harder to spot difference than others
act 1 vs act 2 mary:: same height, brunette to black hair, loss of hat (☹️)
this was due to our cast being a paid to be there, so lotsa ensemble :3 (very fun!!!)
okay now for less info-y facts that r just silly
so there’s a whole metaphor thing with the kites in our show in each act, micheal’s homemade kite being broken in act 2 to show the broken family (very serious and sad, ikkk)
we had the Micheal/metaphor kites swapped for every rehearsal until we realized mid tech week (like Thursday i think???)
one of our techs was in like highschool (local production, volunteer stuff) and was constantly whispering into the mics, such as “guys,, these lines are pretty 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝓪𝓴𝔂…. 😈” and then everyone would tell him to shut up
(techs were micked up, actors weren’t, so we only learned this after!!!)
please ask me more questions i ran out of people to infodump about this to 🙏 🙏 🙏 we were all very silly so there is so much to share

So, I have some truly odd quirks. When having difficulty with fractions I could quickly practice my whenever I’d see a digital block with the time and break it down to the smallest fraction (ex. 12:15 because four-fifths) I’d practice my piano songs while sitting at my desk in school to the point where I couldn’t take real notes, and to this day I have issues with inanimate objects not having feelings as food does turn bad has been found to respond to music and toys have faces!
Some movies petrify us for life, but some just confuse or differ our thinking. Bedknobs and Broomsticks and Mary Poppins were early childhood films that I think of as somewhat wackadoo films that were colorful, fun, exciting and maybe lead to some quirky thoughts or habits. Maybe not as funky but later movies such as The Indian Cupboard and the Toy Story franchise should rank high as to reasons why children may have extended imaginations, especially considering imaginary friends or spiritual value given to inanimate objects.
While some of my quirks come from me, and some were extended by stories or films, I love these films just the same. While the magical series almost always involve “muggles” or non-magic folk who have no idea that magic exists, that provide another question I can never scientifically or purely decide on, these are the stories that show either everyone is unaware of and occur if you just pay close enough attention or just luck out in finding the right key--
giving a bit of wonder or magic into your life even as you are old and one of the best part of films.
I'm a very simple girl. Give me a playlist with Hamilton's and Six's songs and Moana's demos and Mary Poppins Returns soundtrack and I will be happy for the rest of my day.
Watching Mary Poppins Returns one more time because I absolutely love this movie.
The Emily Blunt's Mary Poppins, Lin's Jack, the songs and ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING ON THIS MOVIE is perfect!
