Alicent: *introducing Criston to Aegon* So this is my son
Criston: *holds him* My son
Alicent: No my son
Criston: Our son
An Alicent edit that I made
(I’m pretty sure I made a mistake when writing „in such condition” instead of „in such a condition”, so please ignore that)
As irresponsible as it was of Rhaenyra having obvious bastards in a place where bastards were not accepted and trying to pass them off as true born, Harwin was also to blame.
Like seriously? You are having an affair with the heir and you see that the first child you have together looks like you instead of her, and don’t do anything about it?
I agree that Rhaenyra put her children in a dangerous position, BUT SO DID HARWIN.
In Rhaenyra’s defence she was raised with the idea that Targaryen’s are just different, not all of the rules apply to them, like the Doctrine Of Exceptionalism. Also, Rhaenyra was named heir, a very powerful position.
I wouldn’t be surprised if she thought that the rules didn’t apply to her.
But what’s Harwin’s defence?
Honestly, I didn’t really like Harwin’s character and I still don’t. And this is partly why.
I don’t know how much of this is to blamed for the show just rushing through the first season and how much of this is just Harwin being Harwin.
But I kind of think this is just Harwin being Harwin, mainly because of that scene where Criston provokes him and Harwin attacks him. Like yeah Criston provokes him, but he shouldn’t react. Like you and Rhaenyra placed your children in such a position where people know that they’re bastards and you didn’t do this once, you did this three times. The least you could do is ignore people provoking you.
The way Tamlin antis apply every negative thing they can to him is honestly laughable now. They don’t read the text, they just say „remember when Tamlin did *insert thing that he never did or would do*?” and everyone just claps along and repeats it over and over. And when they called out by someone who’s actually read the books, they get angry and resort to verbal abuse or if they’re feeling it, wishing death or other physical abuse (for those that haven’t seen it, I’ve seen it all and yes they do in fact wish terrible physical things against people).
I once saw someone say that ACOTAR stans apply terrible things that their ex boyfriend did to them onto Tamlin, and when I saw that post, it all clicked. Instead of seeing Feyre and Tamlin as characters, the stans saw themselves as Feyre and their ex as Tamlin. So when they say something like „remember when Tamlin fat shamed Feyre into not eating after UTM and that’s why she was starving?”, that’s not something that Tamlin did, that’s their ex. Because Tamlin didn’t do that, did he? And as horrible as going through that must have been as ED’s are no joke, we can’t say that a character did something just because your ex did it to you. (I remember that this was a huge thing that they kept saying like 3 years ago and I still see it occasionally).
However, this doesn’t apply to every ACOTAR stan. I think the rest of them just really are just too into Rhysand. I mean if Tamlin was that bad, then surely they wouldn’t have to make up things about him to prove how bad he is, wouldn’t they? But no, they have to raise up Rhysand, by making up things about Tamlin.
Missionary so I can explain why I love Alicent Hightower

Aegon: Does this mean I have to call you dad?
Criston: Oh, that’s not nec-
Aegon: *already pulling out a huge bag full of „N. 1 Dad” things*
RIP Jace you should have been playing horror games and waking up your mother with your screams
