I Don't Think That The Civilians In The DC Universe Are Picky With Regards To Who's Saving The Day, Per

Bruce watched in amusement as the new hero, Ghost, made fun of Superman. That was until John Constantine came into the room and stared at the hero with wide eyes. He bowed and everyone was thrown off.

John Constantine was a bastard and everyone knew it, he tricked God Himself and made enemies with demons daily, he never showed anyone respect. So why was he being respectful to this random new hero he never met?

“King Phantom. I’ve been searching for you, it’s an honor.” John said and everyone looked between the confused teenager and mage.

“You must have me confused, my name is Ghost and I’m not a King.” He replied warily.

“Ah, they must have done something.” John said before hitting Ghost with a spell.

Ghost gasped and looked frantically at John.

“How bad is it?” He asked hurriedly and with panic.

“They would have slaughtered everyone tomorrow if you weren’t found today. They don’t care about your rules if the King is missing. I held them off for as long as I could but I couldn’t buy much time. You have been gone for 6 months.” John told him and everyone was on alert immediately. “Go, Danny, before it is too late.”

Ghost, no Danny, nodded before opening a portal. He turned around.

“You will be rewarded and I thank you. I truly love these people and would die against to protect them but my kingdom is first. I ask you to disband the GIW of the United States government, they are who took me and sold me off, they are who hurt my people. The Observants will want to speak to you, I will hold them off.” He left and everyone yelled questions at John.

“SHUT UP!” He snapped, more serious than anytime they had seen him before.

“Constantine. What was that?” Bruce demanded, wearing his most menacing glare and growl.

“No Bats, you don’t get to question me right now. I need everything that you have on him. Mission reports, how you found him, everything. If you excuse me I’m going to shut down a government organization.” John turned around and left in a hurry before anymore questions could be asked.

Two days later the news showed that an unknown man single handed took down a fake government organization that was illegally experimenting on ghosts and torturing them. John came back and read through every single file they had and sighed.

“Congratulations. I prevented the end of the universe.” He said lazily.

“Explain.” Bruce demanded.

Zatanna interrupted before John could reply. Her face was pale. “That was Danny Phantom.” She whispered in disbelief.

John only nodded and she fell onto a chair. She looked up at him with panic, ignoring everyone.

“Tell me. Don’t lie. How close were we?” She asked, completely serious.

“5 hours. If I didn’t find him in 5 hours every person on every planet would be slaughtered. They would not be merciful, they would slowly kill us until he was found, and they would not stop there. It would be 10 times worse than anything you can possibly imagine and no one but him could stop them. You were good to him, cared, no harm should come to any of you. I can’t say the same about CADMUS and the GIW.”

“Why didn’t he go back?” She asked. “You said he cares, why would he risk it?”

“His memories were erased, I gave them back but he didn’t know anything except for the last six months, possibly even less.”

“How did you get them to back off for so long?”

“I blackmailed God once, you know.”

“Yes, but every being is more powerful than him, the weakest is possible 3 times as powerful.”

“They respect Him, even if barely, but they do. So they, in turn, respect me. They know of my reputation and accomplishments, know I can somehow get out of anything, they let me have a chance to find him before they released them onto the universe.”

Zatanna thought about it for a couple seconds before nodding and slumping back into the chair.

A neon green sticky note appeared on John’s lap.

‘Thank you for returning our King. He needs guidance in your realm and you will now be considered his father, uncle to the public. Do not tell the mortals anything else.

He looked to Zatanna. “Are you mortal?”

“No, technically not.” She responded and he wordlessly passed her the note. “John, I can’t read this. It’s in ghost speak and I have not died.”

“I am the new father/uncle to Danny Phantom. We can’t tell the mortals anything else.” John said and Zatanna chuckled.

“Does this mean Spooky can’t adopt Danny?” Flash asked and Bruce glared at him.

“Not unless he wants to be Ended.” Zatanna replied with amusement and a smile.

This was going to be interesting.

Amnesia AU

An AU where Danny gains amnesia after getting captured by the GIW. He gets saved by the Justice League just after they discover Superboy, trying to find out if any of them have been cloned. When they save Danny they don’t know that he is a ghost or halfa, not that Danny knows that either, and have him join the Young Justice League. He and Superboy become best friends, Danny often messing with Superman for his clonist bullshit on Superboy’s behalf. They become each other’s pillars in a world that is unfamiliar and against them.

So imagine John Constantine’s surprise to find the missing Ghost King, who’s people he has been trying to keep from declaring war against this dimension to find him, calling Superman “Captain Primary Color Palette” in the Justice League watchtower.

Cass's civilian identity being paper thin is so important to me actually. Barely anyone on the street knows Bruce Wayne's daughter and any of the press who are interested can't uncover a single thing other than him adopting her when she was 19. It leads to a whole lot of speculation but no actual facts.

Meanwhile you have assassins who are the best of the best, the cream of the crop, and anyone who is someone in the evil assassin underworld knows all about David Cain and his daughter who turned rogue and became Batgirl.

Which means most of them see her with Bruce Wayne and are like ohoho a clever plan by Batman indeed! Putting Batgirl undercover as Bruce Wayne's daughter to guard and protect Wayne, who's a key part of all the recent projects to improve Gotham City. Masterful gambit Mr Batman sir, you also get a spy who reports on everything Wayne's doing whenever you need it.

This gives Cass the freedom to not even try to hide herself behind some sort of helpless civilian persona. Attempted kidnappings of Bruce Wayne and his kids have dropped by 90% since she got adopted, as the first one to try and take a fancy party hostage got the shit kicked out of him by Cassandra Wayne while her father watched proudly.

The next attempt brought a gun and she disarmed him then broke his hand. Finally they sent a whole squad of mercenaries to kidnap Bruce and Tim on the way to a W.E business meeting only to find Cass in the car with them. The kidnapping did not go as planned and the goons have several questions as to why the fuck Bruce Wayne's daughter is a metahuman who dodges bullets. They never get answers.

She's the only batkid who never has to fake her abilities. Damian is highly indignant about this but she just pokes his forehead and tells him it's a skill issue when he complains.

Thinking about Cass Cain, the world's biggest proponent of "nobody dies tonight" still taking the time to desperately search for Steph even as she's working overtime to save the rest of Gotham. Wondering what she saw in Steph's body language in those last moments together, when she feared Steph was lying to her but couldn't chase after her. Wondering if she saw the fear, the hurt, the regret, the overwhelming despair and desperation, all in the anxious and exhausted tremble of her body. Wondering if the reason she couldn't tell for sure if Steph was lying was because there was just too much there, too many feelings, the weight of them too great, for Steph's body language to make any sense at all. Wondering if she knew, somehow, that if left on her own that the panicked-rabbit thrum under Steph's skin would lead her directly into something horrible. Thinking about Cass Cain, the girl who killed a man and saw him die in a way no one else could, in a way that changed her forever; who saw the shock and fear and pain and then the nothing, hearing that Stephanie was dead. Wondering if she imagined Steph's last moments as something other than what they were, because she wasn't there and she wouldn't ask and Bruce certainly wouldn't tell. Wondering if she thought about Faizul and imagined Steph terrified in the instant of realization, Steph knowing she was dying, Steph knowing that she would never run rooftops or play tag or feel her mother's arms again and that everything she could have been would remain unwritten forever; Steph alive and afraid and then nothing, nothing, nothing. Just thinking about Cass Cain and her way of perceiving things that no one else could understand, and a grief so deep that she didn't have the words for it and probably never will.

Lol but really, I realistically expect it to be severely rocky. He’ll have good days, mostly bad days, but what keeps him grounded is of course his family, you know?

But imagine losing your entire fleet under your command...

...only to come back to an entire population of thousands of people, expecting that you will lead them.

honestly the more i think about Hal as an often homeless, broke, frequently unemployed, felon who’s constantly five bad days away from a mental breakdown the less funny jokes about him being constantly belittled and bullied by the multi billionaire personally funding the justice league really are.

A (DC) rich people game show, but then they start going nuts.

You see, it's not unusual to have one of the infamous rich guys of the USA on TV, such as Oliver Queen and Bruce Wayne usually on talk shows to talk about their latest project, be it for good (donations) or bad (new LexCorp weapon, this one is for good I swear-).

But that's not the times people love seeing them, no, that's when they go on game shows. And finally, some producer gets the idea, "Why have only one, competing against other famous people like actors or singers, when they could compete against each other! What could possibly go wrong?".

A lot can go wrong. The show is a series of different games across the board, they all have to donate to charities to enter, but also know this is a great opportunity for getting good publicity. At first, it's just fun, games of them working together for a goal, with lots of "turns out the rich are eating each other!" jokes from Queen, comically bad attempts at leadership from Luthor, and Bruce Wayne being a passenger princess during the games "I bring the good luck".

That is until the following games are individual tasks, true competition...and then comes the cheating. Yes, Luthor started it but it also gets ridiculous.

They need to form a debate team, technically with their friends (free cameos for the show), Oliver and the rest of the participants understand that and bring in famous people, yes Oliver brings Black Canary that's his wife and best friend. And Luthor immediately calls on the best lawyers he has "You can't prove they aren't my friends also", which is a bit sad tbh.

Bruce knew he would do that. He is also a Gothamite with a sense of humour. Cable TV says hello to Harvey Dent, aka Twoface, because he is debating here now.

They enter a typical Steve Harvey style of questions, "Oh, you are bringing previous trivia night winners Luthor? that's smart...how did Wayne bring in the Riddler again? stop asking questions you say?"

They enter a mini survivors set, "Luthor brings in specialists from the military, can't say it doesn't make sense!... Mr Wayne, is that Poison Ivy? can he do that?"... and Oliver wins anyway (out of traumatic-experience experience), he brought Dinah again, he's a wife guy.

They enter a round of questions by journalists, points given by originality on evading questions, "So, we had to change our pick Clark Kent bc Luthor claimed it would be rigged, but thankfully Mr Wayne offered an alternative! welcome physicologist- Is that Harley Queen Mr Wyne- Bruce, can I call you Bruce? look me in the eyes and tell me how you are doing this Bruce"

"...Money?"

Harley rips them into psychological shreds, and a non-traumatized rich guy wins (DC equivalent of the Arizona Ice Tea CEO, they deserve it).

They enter rounds of questions about where they live, Luthor loses because he has no clue about the public transportation system in Metropolis, and Oliver acts dumb because he should not know half of the stuff he answers...Bruce gets stuck on the heroes of Gotham question, he is stressed, and he knows he'll be crucified if he forgest any of his vigilantes, and their associates, "Shut up Rick Redhood does count-".

Bruce Wayne forgets to count Batman, and he is saved by Oliver saying "They are bitter exes, let him not count the Bat!", he'll kill him later.

Luthor keeps cheating with professionals, Bruce keeps bringing in criminals, and Oliver wins because the final challenge is a popular vote, and the wife guy always wins.

So, I was thinking about Cass and Shiva, and I remembered the time when Cass became a villain. If Shiva appeared during the stories of that time, how do you think she would react? I imagine she would be extremely pissed and murderous towards the ones that forced Cass to act against her will.

Yeah, you nailed it. I think Shiva should always respect Cass walking her own path, becoming her own woman and finding her own strength. But I also think that should come with a certain degree of weird, messy protectiveness.

Shiva seeing Cass letting herself stray from her path should piss her off, not least of which because she knows that it can only result in a weaker, brittle, lesser version of her daughter. She knows how strong Cass can be when she's at one with herself and how weak she is when she's not, and she should rightfully think that's a waste. It should greatly upset her to see Cass holding herself back.

And Shiva seeing Cass being forcibly led astray, brainwashed into being someone else's lackey, turned into something she's not by the machinations of weaker, jealous men...

There should be blood. Rivers of them.
