Mumbo jerks his head away from the window and looks at Grian. "No I'm not!"

"You definitely are," Scar says beside him.

"You've been doing it from eight thirty to nine fifteen every day for a week," Grian says, "and I STILL can't figure out what it is that's so fascinating about an autoshop. Mumbo you're a theoretical redstone engineer, if you want to oggle cars there's about a billion governments that would throw some at you to get your attention."

"Oh, it's not the cars," Scar says, cementing Mumbo's opinion that while he is a different kind of menace than Grian, he is still very much a menace.

"N-now see here-"

"Oooohhhh," Grian crows, "is it not?" He's smelled blood in the water and Mumbo clutches his coffee. "It's nothing like that!" He protests.

"Far side of the yard," Scar tells Grian, who sits up a little in his seat. "Working on the sedan. Big, black hair, blue eyes, black denim vest."

"Denim? And here I thought you had taste Mumoh my GOD."

"I know right?" Scar says with delight as Mumbo sinks a little further in his seat.

"Scar, with the understanding that you are right beside me and are the light of my life, partner in crime and eternal tormentor of my soul, that posterior belongs in a museum and so do those arms."

"We are 100% in agreement, pesky bird of my heart. So, Mumbo, what's his naaammee?"

Mumbo knows he could circumvent this conversation. He could take his coffee and run. He could ignore them both. He could go order even more coffee and delay the inevitable.

Instead, as ever cornered by his friends' overwhelming personalities, he caves.

"His name is Skizz," Mumbo says. "You remember I had that flat out of town last week? This is the shop they called."

"And your Knight in Shining Towtruck appeared!" Scar says with a broad grin. "He must be worth something, a hind end that nice wouldn't be enough to persuade our pickiest of engineers."

"He's- very nice," Mumbo admits, passing his coffee cup back and forth. "And smart. And a bit- brash."

"Did he ruffle your apron?" Scar asks.

"No! No he was a perfect gentleman."

"But you got the vibe," Grian probes. Mumbo tugs at his collar. "Maybe? A little? He was just so- so kind and enthusiastic and I couldn't tell if he was flirting or if that's just how he is."

Across the way, Mumbo's Knight in Shining Towtruck closes the top of the sedan and wipes his hands on a rag. Grian can get a better look at him now and the picture gets even better. Scar had been right, he has very blue eyes, and weirdly lots of scars. He says something to someone Grian can't see and gets in the sedan's front seat, firing up the engine.

The megawatt smile he gives is clearly visible even from the cafe, and Grian can almost hear his shout of triumph.

"And what are you doing about it besides coming to the cafe across the street for coffee every day?" Scar needles Mumbo.

"I'm- strategizing!"

"You do any more strategizing you'll end up reoganizing your sock drawer or blowing up another lab," Grian says, eyes not moving from the autoshop. "Besides, we have a next step for you. Look."

"Grian what- ...is that Impulse?"

"Oh no Impulse is hugging Mumbo's man!" Scar says in disappointment.

"Scar," Grian says, "Didn't Impulse mention he was happy with this assignment because it meant he got to spend more time with his best friend in the world?"

"Oh yeah he was able to get housing near him and his shop so he could walk there! I don't remember the name, darn it. Rizz? Lizz?"

Grian grins at Mumbo, who has gone pale as death.

"You know," he says to his colleague, "I think we should meet Impulse's bestie. Don't you, Mumbo?"

"It only seems polite," Mumbo squeaks, and drains the rest of his coffee in one long scorching gulp.

mark the center as you like.

now dig out your area, about 24x24 as desired

add an outer ledge 3 blocks out

dig a moat and add a floating barrier 1 block up. you’ll want your barrier to be 2 blocks high, what’s pictured below is only 1 block, which mobs will be able to jump so do as i say not as i do haha.

you’ll want corners to direct the flow of water. fires are optional but do help deal damage to moving enemies and corral the big boys into the water better.

add one slot entrances into an escape proof pit. you can put a ladder in one end for your own use.  

fill these with golems.  i like to add 1 door for myself.

finally, add water to keep the loot coming to you and you’re laughing. enjoy your emeralds and immortality babies!  add a lookout tower if you wish.

I feel like Bruce Wayne projects the kind of amiable playboy 'fun' vibe that he'd be the type of celebrity that certain interviewers feel comfortable surprising with puppies.

The late-night talk show situations where they're making benign small talk with their smiling guest, and there's a segment where animals get brought out, usually to talk about some sort of ecological relief effort.

So you're watching your trash TV talk show late at night, and you get to watch billionaire pretty boy Bruce Wayne be begrudgingly talked into holding a (relatively) harmless creature which inevitably gets a lot of delighted shrieks from the audience as it starts being a lot more active than the handler promised. And to his credit, Bruce doesn't flinch, he doesn't freak out. But his eyes are a little wide, and his voice a little tight as the smile on his face takes on a slight rictus quality before he's inevitably rescued by an apologetic handler who is also laughing because they all know there was no real danger, it was just funny to put Bruce, who is an undeniable good sport and already laughing along, out of his comfort zone for the sake of charity.

Meanwhile, up in the Justice League headquarters, several founding members of the League are wondering how fast they can get a fake Oscar award shipped to the space station because fuck off. Absolutely fuck off, Bruce. Where the fuck did he study? Juilliard? (Probably.)

(Clark ends up going to a novelty store during the commercial break. It's faster than trying to get anything shipped, even with the infrastructure Bats built for them. He finds it several days later taped to his console in a conspicuously empty briefing room. It's gaudy and awful, the words "Best Actor" engraved on the plaque. No one's around to see him smile. Anyway, consider, for your amusement, Bruce Wayne getting highjacked on The Gotham Toight Show with a handful of wriggling puppies and, for a split second, not having to pretend he's delighted to be there.

What are we even telling people to do anymore, go try to google useful info and the first three pages are just ads for products that might be the exact opposite of what the person is trying to find but The Algorithm thinks the words are related enough? tumblr blackout proposal

tumblr mobile has steadily become near unusable these past few updates. not just from a user experience perspective (which is important enough in itself) but also from an accessibility perspective.

examples include the new way the image viewer works (if you can call it "working"), the tumblr live button replacing the profile button, and that newly created blogs will be forced to have their main dashboard tab be the 'for you' page.

the demands of the protest would be along the lines of:

reverse the recent image viewer update

scrap the new users 'for you' page default setting

let us turn off tumblr live indefinitely

increase efforts against spam / porn bots

make reporting abuse and hate speech as easy as reporting as reporting spam

let us go nuts show nuts again... for real this time

remove flashing ads, including not accepting blaze campaigns for posts with flashing in them

commit to improving usability and accessibility, and listening to users!

(suggestions welcome!)

to protest against these usability issues, and inspired by the recent reddit blackout, i propose a 48 hour blackout (where you don't use tumblr at all). preferably of both mobile and web (since web has problems too) but mobile is the focus here.

A norse runework starter pack!

Because runework is basically at the core of my craft, I use it all the time and I’m already more than familiar with it. Runework is super easy to incorporate into everyday life and it’s got a wide range of use so I truly recommend. It feels safe and reliable, and I don’t need to put a lot of time or focus on them. Now let’s get down to business to defeat the Huns.

Their story real quick:

So in His endless search for knowledge, Odin the Allfather hung Himself and was pierced by His own spear in order to be alone with Himself. He accepted no bread and no mead until He found the truth He’d been looking for. And He did: through the darkness of His own mind, Odin saw the runes and reached for them. It was told they were so powerful He could bring a man back from the dead using them.

The basics:

The runic alphabet, otherwise called Futhark. Because I’m a history nerd I try to use the “elder futhark” as much as possible, though there’s a new one going around that’s really popular too.

The more complicated stuff:

Vegvisir (you’ll often find it depicted inside a rune circle like the second pic, especially on jewelry and pendants): Vegvisir is first and foremost a compass, and its name translated from Icelandic quite literally means “that which shows the way”. Historians speculate that its shape might be derived from old sailing wayfinders in Scandinavia, thus its association with the compass. It’s supposed to guide one’s way through the storm, according to a line in the Huld manuscript. (x, y)

Aegishjalmur (Helm of Awe): Protection, protection, protection! That’s what it’s about. All of its branches are considered to be “guarding” the center, thus making it a major protection rune. Once you get the gist of it, it’s super easy to draw and useful. If you’re a fan of dragons like me, perhaps you know Fafnir’s invicibility was drawn from this rune, as stated in the Fáfnismál: The Helm of Awe | I wore before the sons of men | In defense of my treasure; | Amongst all, I alone was strong, | I thought to myself, | For I found no power a match for my own. (x, y) 

Aight quick presentation for other complex runes:

Now; How do I use runes? Where do I put them? 

Draw them anywhere and everywere. I wouldn’t recommend painting a ten-feet inguz on the closest police station but there’s still tons of places where runes can be useful. I draw them inside my wrists and close to pulse points, as way of “pumping” them into my system, so to speak. I write them down to focus my intent during rituals, choosing the one/s I need most atm. In a similar way, I envision them during meditation to clarify my intent. I also use them to decorate altars or devotional art. If you’re a norse pagan like me, maybe look up what runes your main deities are associated with! Quick rundown:

Odin is usually othala or ansuz

I often see Freyja associated with fehu, but that’s also the case for most of the Aesir

Tyr with teiwaz

Thor with thurisaz or uruz; etc…

What about bind runes?

By definition and according to historical speculation, bind runes are futhark runes which were merged into a single glyph (sometimes by carving them all on a single straight line, like oghams). They were super rare back in the viking age but they’ve become popular in the last few years.

People create them according to their needs. This aspect makes bind runes extremely versatile and personal because you can set really specific intents for them. They’re not exactly like sigils, though: when it comes to sigils, feeling and instinct usually guide people’s creation process. As for futhark bind runes, they’re made using existing glyphs from this specific alphabet. Here’s a bunch of bind runes that have been going around, just to give you guys a few ideas of what they can look like:
