i cannot express enough how much it fucking sucks to have been labeled gifted in 3rd grade, especially to someone who's never had to deal with the consequences and might not even think there are any; burnout is a big one but i'm also at a point where my parents are so "concerned about me and my future" that any time i bring home an assignment graded lower than a B i'm liable to have my room stripped completely until i'm back on the honor roll
so i played through the entirety of Violet without finding a single shiny, until i did my first sandwich hunt for an Iron Valiant in Area Zero. sounds alright, right?
well, today i learned that my little brother who's halfway through the game has already found two shinies by complete accident;
like, i'm obviously proud of him, but like wow my ass rolled a 4 in luck so he could roll the 18

○ looking at HOME's listed teammates, they seem to have general Urshifu problems, so Tera Fairy can be used to essentially "trap" down an Urshifu on Close Combat/Wicked Blow if Sui doesn't have a Substitute, trading a little HP to gain advantage (of course, made less relevant with Sub)
○ HOME also lists Chien-Pao and Urshifu-Rapid as common defeats, which it can't do without losing huge chunks of health unless it Teras
○ while this can also be taken care of by Grass for example, Ogerpon, Serperior and Garganacl are all listed above #25 in RegF Singles and each threaten a Sub-less Suicune in their own ways, but Tera can be used to escape this and retaliate and Fairy is overall a better type than Grass due to more general resistances and an occasionally useful immunity (although the top Dragon type - Dragonite - only runs Scale Shot 33% or Outrage 14.5%, while the other two above #25 don't even run damaging ones more than 35% of the time)

can any competitive players who aren’t stupid like me explain why Suicune has over 70% usage on Tera Fairy in Reg F Singles because I’m interested in using Suicune and I am very confused
Tera Blast isn’t in its most used moves and I don’t really see the defensive benefit of Tera Fairy on a pure Water type over something like Grass
I really just don’t get the point of it but I can tell I must be missing something because it’s so common and it’s bugging me lmao

cool thing I found out in the Indigo Disk Epilogue, if you send out Ogerpon against Pecharunt it’ll get angry, and Pecharunt will get angry if you send out any of the Loyal Three
Here's one for all you Pokémon nerds.
A while back I saw someone ask if it was possible to OHKO a level 100 Pokémon with a level 1 Pokémon. The answer to that was, indeed, yes. There are some incredibly frail pokemon out there with almost non existent defensive stats that even at level 100, pale to other mons at half that level. So I decided to take the question further.
So I posit: is it possible to defeat a level 100 Blissey, the most specially defensive Pokémon to exist, in a single hit from a level 1 special attacker? I grabbed a friend and we got on Showdown to test the idea.

got a ban from random raids after bailing on a Tera Psychic Golem-Kanto where the other people were Koraidon and 2 Iron Hands
it only lasted for like 4 minutes, was able to go again after a Galar Slowbro raid but my god are people seriously still so high on Week 1 strats

just finished Indigo Disk and man i can't believe the power of friendship got me twice in one Pokémon game
my sweet sweet doofus children just bawling their eyes out, learning kieran pushed himself to the point of emptiness all because he looked up to us, the ending cutscene with the friends bit and possibly the happiest kieran yet, man this dlc broke me in a good way
Scarlet & Violet might possibly be the most fragile switch games ever (honestly $95 per game+dlc is probably double its actual worth from a technical standpoint) but i'll be damned if these games don't have the actual best writing in the series and i am so excited for the actual official release of Mochi Mayhem (already seen it from a yt video but god damn i'm excited to play it for real, maybe they'll add some stuff in between now and the 11th)
