---
Harry was off his broom in an instant, lost in a fantasy of bestowing Cho with a glittering rock the size of his fist. Its beauty would pale beside Cho’s soft smile.
“I knew it would be you, Harry,” she’d whisper, her hair falling in a gentle curtain as she leaned in to—
“Were you trying to kill me with that glorified tree branch, or are you as blind as those hideous glasses suggest?”

Prompt: "Life as We Know It", 2010, Greg Berlanti Prompted by: Anonymous Author: Anonymous Word Count: 25,803 words Rating: Explicit Warnings: Minor character death, death from terminal illness
Summary: When Andromeda suddenly passed away, leaving Teddy in the care of both Harry and Draco, neither of them knew how they’d manage to live together without killing each other, let along survive as parenthood was thrust upon them. Raising a ten-year-old boy would be hard at the best of times, but raising one who had just lost the only parental figure he’d ever known was another thing entirely. Would it be possible for Harry and Draco to put aside their (very many) differences in order to provide a stable family for Teddy? And what would they learn about each other – and themselves – along the way?

The firewhisky swished in the crystal tumblers yet again.
They must’ve been his family’s old relics since they didn’t seem to be Potter’s style. The blow of glass was too intricate; details Potter wouldn’t bother to take note of, the weight of it on their hand.
Potter’s attention likely laid on the liquid inside, hot and ready, burning from inside out.
Much like Draco’s attention laid on Potter as he raised the tumbler to his lips, soft and red, gulping down fire. Like the fire licking Draco’s insides, burning him inside and out.
Much like Potter’s hands by Draco’s side, golden and steady, fumbling from his thighs to his hip. Everywhere Harry touched, through the fabric and his skin, down to the marrow of his bones and his soul, was burning.
Potter’s lips on Draco’s, red and ready, engulfing them in fire. Harry was swallowing every tangled detail of Draco’s, imprinting them on his tongue. The taste of him was all consuming like Fiendfyre in secret rooms. Like firewhisky in living rooms. Like the heat burning inside Draco.

They Apparate directly there. Side-Along.
Draco releases Potter's arm. He's crumpled the sleeve of Potter's shirt.
Grimmauld creaks into view, but it's little more than a brick facade.
The windows and door are gone. In their place, yawning voids, dark as night.
They climb the steps. An inky breeze beckons.
I’ve always been struck by Ginny’s transformation from a little girl who cried and laughed while waving goodbye to her brothers, to the hardened young woman described as rarely weepy.
Ginny tends to externalize her pain, her grief, her displeasure, her sadness, her insecurity, and her feelings of injustice through loud, forceful displays of emotion. She rages, she snarks, she screams, she hexes, she doesn’t cry.
This transmuting of any perceived weakness into an exhibition of power is a direct message to the world that she is unshakable, invulnerable. Because, to her, if she shows any vulnerability she loses her control.
A control that is dependent on the privacy of the inner world she likes to keep so nice and tucked away. When that becomes exposed then anyone, or anything, can take and take and take.
