really drawn to characters who are copies of someone else and/or hollowed out inside. which could mean anything
I'm Cicada, and I like to yap about things :D mostly warrior cats, stranger things, and whatever I'm currently hyperfixated on. On my blog I'll probably post the occasional art, rant about warriors, delusionally hope for byler, and talk about anything that comes to mind ✨
I'm autistic+mentally ill so I struggle to interact with people; please keep that in mind. Also I've never been on Tumblr before and I'm sort of terrified 😭
Favorite warriors characters (not in order): Shadowsight, Frostdawn, Dovewing, Ivypool, Squirrelstar, Hollyleaf, Crookedstar
Navigation:
For fandom-specific stuff, it'll just be tagged as the fandom
For art, it'll be tagged #cicada draws
For non-fandom thoughts or monologues, it'll be tagged #cicada yells (do. do you get it. cause like. cicadas, they yell) (I'm really funny trust)
OCs will be tagged with both the name of the OC and their overall story
"While You Were Dead"
This issue serves as a goodbye to our two most prominent deceased characters - the killer and the victim both. Two of my favorites to write (though not necessarily to draw; their designs are agonizingly complicated), and whose deaths both made huge splashes in the readerbase.
It still really charms me how popular Rainhaze ended up being, and I'm just glad everyone else liked him as much as I did. I got to explore a lot of interesting and complicated ideas within his character. Asphodelshine I sometimes wish I hadn't killed off, but only because it makes me miss her. Which I suppose is how I know I did a good job with it.
The title is taken from Cat Rambo's story "Tortoiseshell Cats Are Not Refundable": “He and Mindy would laugh about that together eventually. He wondered what that would be like, to be able to say, “While you were dead.”

curlfeather spends her childhood pretending not to fear the elders tales of tigerstars reign over riverclan, about how noble riverclan was left with no other choice but to submit or die. what else could they do? these stories are heard less frequently as she gets older, and by the time she has her full name the stories about tigerclan are replaced by those of the great battle. reedwhisker trains her to put her clan above all else. the good of the clan always comes first. your clan are your kin. in their rare moments alone, she listens to an aging mistyfar wistfully recall her brothers bravery at bonehill, a sacrifice not many are old enough to remember. curlfeather has never heard anyone mention stonefur before, so she sits in silence as mistystar mourns, and at her young age decides that this is how she wants to be remembered. this is what a riverclan cat is supposed to be. curlfeather was raised to believe that riverclan is something to be proud of, something to fight for. your clanmates come first. riverclan is virtuous. riverclan is selfless. riverclan is pure. her father tells her as much. talks of tigerclan resurface when darktail comes around, spoken in hushed voices inside cramped dens. curlfeather wonders why no one seems to be doing anything about it until her father finally stands up to darktail himself. and he loses. days pass, more cats give in, and curlfeather is silent as an emaciated reedwhisker finally concedes and pledges his loyalty. she can only watch as he repeats himself, louder, again and again and again. she watches him slink away, head down, and she thinks of stonefur
i dedicated my life to you and all you've ever done is punish me for it
