My life has completely changed. I used to wonder around the Internet for a few hours a day reblogging funny things, working, and my various hobbies.
Now I feel like I am living in the Capitol Wasteland of the Fallout universe.
Do not think people that our lives have gone on. This is the view from my driveway yesterday.
My place of employment has been destroyed, been working there since 2009. It was a small private dental office. Its gone. I was the primary income provider. I now collect $275 in unemployment. There are no jobs in my field for over 100 miles. It will take years before this area is even remotely economically where it was pre-Hurricane Michael.
We built our home in 2012. We have to sell our house in this wasteland before February because that is when the mortgage temporary hold is up. We got a hold on our utilities but health/car insurance, credit cards, and other non-house bills will not hold any payments. FEMA and D-SNAP is a joke.
My daughter turned 18 on 10/19, but is 2 years behind in school. She was on her way to getting her diploma but now she has to get her GED because its faster - she refuses to relocate with us. Oh yeah, we are relocating. Out of state. The economy in the panhandle of Florida is dead. We are moving to Denver CO because my wife, other adult household members, and I can get better paying jobs out there. It is also somewhere we always wanted to move to but not like this.
I am rebuilding from here but my life is forever changed. And I am one of the lucky ones. My house or cars sustained no damage. Some members of my household is able to return to work to hold us over until we relocate.
Please do not forget about us. The rest of the world is joking about the Trump umbrella thing but we are still in mourning. As I drive around in town there are more downed trees than standing trees. Blue tarps cover the majority of roofs. Many houses still have trees crashes through the living room.
This will take years for my home to recover. I cannot stay. Goodbye Panama City, I hope you can heal from this diaster. There are good people here who want to rebuild. I just cannot be one of them.

Another challenging variation. Need to be more clear with what voice I’m bringing out. Also clicking. It’s a hard variation.
Day 11
Feeling kind of sick, like I’m coming down with something. I hope this is not the case, but I really feel very weak and my throat is a little bit sore.
This is an excerpt from Harold Blanchard’s Innocent Meandering. I only listened once, and the recording itself seemed a little bit buzzy, as if I had distortion turned on or something. Maybe one day I’ll learn how to make a better recording with this telephone.

This is a little better than last night.
Day 5
Attempting to post another video of myself performing an excerpt from Harold Blanchard’s Innocent Meandering, since my previous attempt was flagged as inappropriate as soon as the excerpt was published. This is frustrating, especially when one considers the amount of time it takes to make a decent recording of a piece of music. I chose to use Tumblr as a platform for sharing my daily music videos, because I’m just not comfortable using FB, IG, and YouTube. I liked how Tumblr worked. If this video is immediately mistaken for having inappropriate content, and flagged, I just might have to look for another outlet if Tumblr thinks my music is inappropriate.
There’s a lot of shifting in this part of the piece that requires a lot of work to make the timing work out right. . .

Finally feeling better. That’s cold I had kept me capped out for a couple of days.
I’m playing along with a recording my former teacher (Dr Stephen Robinson) playing Innocent Meandering by Harold Blanchard. I’m doing this to get a better understanding of phrasing and using rubato in the piece. Also, the tempo is quite different in the recording from that that is suggested in the score.

The introduction from Carnaval de Venecia.
It still feels like I just learned it, but I think I’m getting better with it. It’s a tricky introduction.

Excerpt from Zarabanda lejana by Rodrigo

Another way of playing this variation with mainly slurs. Less right hand involvement. It makes the variation a lot more slurry, but it is smoother than some other solutions I’ve tried. Still needs much improvement, but it’s getting better at least.

A little bit of Orbon’s preludio. Haven’t focused on this piece in a while. I tend to be a little too bright on some notes.
I changed my strings not many days ago, but I think I already need to change them. I think that, after playing on carbon trebles for so long then switching to light ej43’s, I’m a little surprised at how fast my strings wear out not.
Tomorrow I plan to do a video where the Preludio leads into the Danza “alla attacca”.
