Finally feeling better. That’s cold I had kept me capped out for a couple of days.
I’m playing along with a recording my former teacher (Dr Stephen Robinson) playing Innocent Meandering by Harold Blanchard. I’m doing this to get a better understanding of phrasing and using rubato in the piece. Also, the tempo is quite different in the recording from that that is suggested in the score.

These strings are too old to be making a video. I struggle more with this variation than any other. I know my right hand moves way too much. That’s something I’m working on.

This lefthand slur warm-up really helps me navigate the fretboard. My slurs get a little too trill-y sometimes.

This is an excerpt from Pavan No 1 by Luis Milan. In this video I stop at a scale that I am debating on whether to play with or without slurs. I think I like it with the slurs.

Want please with my playing so I sat on this recording for a couple of days.

I felt that this was better than yesterday’s recording. Improvement, I guess.
I know the melody needs to be more legato. Especially in the consecutive eighth note parts.
Day 11
Feeling kind of sick, like I’m coming down with something. I hope this is not the case, but I really feel very weak and my throat is a little bit sore.
This is an excerpt from Harold Blanchard’s Innocent Meandering. I only listened once, and the recording itself seemed a little bit buzzy, as if I had distortion turned on or something. Maybe one day I’ll learn how to make a better recording with this telephone.

Trying out some left-hand ideas in Agustí Grau’s Corranda.

65. Minuetto by Tarrega
This is my first time recording this minuetto in its entirety. It feels similar to playing the piece in front of someone for the first time.
I think my phrasing of the first theme sounded better in the opening than it did in the recapitulation.

Feeling better about this excerpt of the piece here.
