28, Part 2

28, part 2

I did three takes and I’m sharing the better of the two today. Milan Pavan 3.

Just trying pay through the piece without stopping, without fixing buzz notes and other things. As long as it sounds halfway decent. Only focusing on the order and sections of the piece. If it’s all pretty much in order, that is the goal.

I created this blog to share what I learn while practice, but also because something strange happened with my old blog and it started following people I had no idea about. I’m back up here.

Back to work on Milan’s Pavan No. 2.

Trying to do my dynamic contrasts as opposed to the contrast with tone color that I was working on in last night’s video.

*Not related to the piece*

I am staying in a hotel and got my first ever noise complaint! Thankfully, there is a nice lady who works at the reception desk was very helpful. She allowed me to move to a different room so that I could practice. How great!

This is from today’s faculty recital I played on at GCSC. Corranda by Agustí Grau. I think overall that my default right hand position could be closer to the sound hole. I’m glad my student sent me these videos so I could catch that.

Pondering on which fingers to use with this passage. One idea is to do a slur with the fourth finger. The sections idea is to slur with the first. I think I like slurring with 4 better, but I’m going to listen to this recording to help determine what I like better.

Day 7

Feeling better about my tone and volume control here. I need to be more aware random noises before I play the first note.

Aerial photos show the devastation left in the path of Hurricane Michael

Florida’s Panhandle took stock on Thursday of the hammering destruction wrought by Hurricane Michael, with homes obliterated or reduced to rubble and power lines and trees ripped up by the third most powerful storm ever to strike the U.S. mainland.

I felt that this was better than yesterday’s recording. Improvement, I guess.

I know the melody needs to be more legato. Especially in the consecutive eighth note parts.
