Doing some metronome work with Rodrigo’s Fandango. It is easy to speed up the quarterly chords if you’re not careful. Likewise, it can be hard not to slow everything else down.
I am recording and using the metronome all on my phone here. My house is much improved since Hurricane Michael, but most things are still boxed up. One day I’ll find my metronome.

I need to put slurs to this. However, I also want to keep practicing it without slurs because it is a great exercise for the right hand.

Trying out some left-hand ideas in Agustí Grau’s Corranda.

Probably should have kept playing past the moment that the Shih Tzu ‘Abby’ brushed up against me, but it kinda tickled. Hehe. I’m dog-sitting some adorable pups.

Trying a technique that I have never used in a performance. Plucking the strings with the back of the nails. It’s a possible solution to playing this variation up to speed with greater ease. If I were to pluck all of the strings normally, my right hand would bounce around a lot more.

Had a lot to say about this video, but also had several issues while trying up upload the video to Tumblr. Annoying.

Back to work on Milan’s Pavan No. 2.
Trying to do my dynamic contrasts as opposed to the contrast with tone color that I was working on in last night’s video.
*Not related to the piece*
I am staying in a hotel and got my first ever noise complaint! Thankfully, there is a nice lady who works at the reception desk was very helpful. She allowed me to move to a different room so that I could practice. How great!

Playing entire passages with pizzicato can be challenging. Tarrega also has minuet in E major that’s supposed to be played primarily with pizzicato.

A little bit of Orbon’s preludio. Haven’t focused on this piece in a while. I tend to be a little too bright on some notes.
I changed my strings not many days ago, but I think I already need to change them. I think that, after playing on carbon trebles for so long then switching to light ej43’s, I’m a little surprised at how fast my strings wear out not.
Tomorrow I plan to do a video where the Preludio leads into the Danza “alla attacca”.

The h armonic variation.
If your nails are too long, you are bound to be clicky with this technique. Notwithstanding, if you’re playing too strongly with ‘m’ the harmonic voice will be over shadowed. There is also the risk of tapping the feet board with ‘m’.

This is the excerpt I promised myself I would make a recording of in yesterday’s post. This is where the Preludio and the Danza blend together. ‘Attacca’ is the musical direction.
With these lighter strings, I tend to feel that my guitar is tuned kinda low. Although, I know they are turned to 440.
