These get hard after you practice them for several minutes.

An excerpt from a piece by Tarrega.
Not pleased with this. I think my discontent has to do with...not being able to start practicing until after I was quite tired today. That tends to happen very often.
This is the same excerpt from the same piece I posted for yesterday’s video. It’s Legnani Caprice no 7. Only here I’m trying out another fingering that I’ve been working at for a while now. I think I like it better. There’s more string crossing involved, but I think it runs smoother with this fingering since I play faster scale passages better using ‘a m i’. And the string crossing works better in this instance.

Running through a couple of Nin-Culmell’s variations on a theme by Milan before I play in repertoire class.

Feeling better about this excerpt of the piece here.

This is the fifth and sixth variations from Luis Milan by Joaquin Nin-Culmell. Wanted to redo the sixth one, because I was super tired when I made the recording last night.
Starting practice after you’ve already been up and doing things for 10-12 hours is hard and taxing on even hoping for decent practice.

I have been very busy and tired lately. I really hate that it is hard to find time to practice. This is extremely frustrating. It worries me.
I am learning Luis Milan’s six Pavans. I am getting this one (no 2) under memory here. Now that I know all the notes, I’m trying to decide what to do with repeated material. In the first example I played it all in my standard default tone color. When I restarted the piece, I went more ponticello on the repeated material. I believe that less-extreme color change with more dynamic changes may be what I need. I’ll try that in a later post. Probably tomorrow.

Want please with my playing so I sat on this recording for a couple of days.

Doing some metronome work with Rodrigo’s Fandango. It is easy to speed up the quarterly chords if you’re not careful. Likewise, it can be hard not to slow everything else down.
I am recording and using the metronome all on my phone here. My house is much improved since Hurricane Michael, but most things are still boxed up. One day I’ll find my metronome.

My second week of learning the Carnaval de Venicia. This is how the 5th variation is coming along. I had been playing all of the portamentos, but decided to take a couple out just before this recording. Still undecided about adding back some in, or talking more out.
I tried to post this same video earlier and it immediately/automatically got flagged for having adult content. I appealled the classification and was told that Tumblr determined it did not contain anything inappropriate, but the post seems to be forever in “appeal mode.” Trying it again here.
