*gets a call from my brother who's just started listening to Words of Radiance*
"Hey man What's up-"
"why the FUCK is Pattern such a little freak?"
there are a lot of characters who kill their abusive father and not enough who kill their abusive mother. thankfully shallan davar covers all bases
microwave popcorn is such a beautiful technology. captures the full range of sensory and emotional experiences. there's even a part where it gets loud and scary. the 1812 overture of cheap snacks
"Why? Why do you care?"
Redrawing this. It was the second ever Stormlight scene I drew, from one listening on the audiobook, and I didn't much like it even before I got the kindle version and realised how far off my depiction was. So now, have a sufficiently wet and miserable Kaladin. And a very cute Syl.
Spin this wheel of stormlight characters three times. They are your new roommates.
So y’all know the classic edge trope of “my blade cannot be sheathed until it has tasted blood”? What if a magic sword that has that requirement, except it’s sort of inverted. A sword that, instead of being inhabited by an evil spirit which once awakened cannot be lulled back to sleep except by blood sacrifice, was inhabited by a benevolent spirit who would not allow the sword to be drawn unless bloodshed were the only possible solution. A sword whose power could never be misused because it would only allow itself to be used in situations where it was justified. What about a Paladin who spends their entire journey fighting with a sheathed sword, incapacitating but never killing or maiming. The party believes that the Paladin has taken an oath of no killing, until they face the big villain. And it is in that moment, and that moment alone, that the sword will allow itself to be drawn.
Idk, this image set my mindwheels a-turning.
But do y’all see the vision?
Marcille is so funny to me. she's such a bait and switch. when we're first introduced to her you see this cute girl who's totally distraught at everything Laios does and you think she's gonna be the tropey token girl in the party who does the healing and stays out of the fights and has to be the designated Team Mom. but that's not Marcille at all. she's only on healing duty because Falin isn't around. she's a frontline attacker and she's constantly thinking about murder and explosions.
dungeon meshi really said "so there's this incredibly powerful black mage whose signature spell is "explode your skull" and she loves necromancy and is wanted in 5 countries. she can heal in a pinch but when she does it, it hurts, because there isn't a gentle bone in her body" and then she looks like this. i love her so much
Imagine being so good at therapy that you literally teach a magic psychopath demon sword the power of friendship (inanimate object btw)
Inversely, imagine also being so good at therapy that you therapize your suicidal client so hard that he finally gets the balls to actually kill himself so that he can escape the voices (Magical mass murderer btw)
your main therapy tools are a magic flute & crawfish boil (btw)
they are roleplaying an ice war on europa (one of jupiter's moons) on twitter
Out of all the scenes in rhythm of war this one lives in my head rent free because it scared me SO BAD
Anyway I’ll hopefully finish this someday but until then I need everyone to share in my fear at least a bit.
