For all TB fans saying "Rhaenyra wouldn't kill children." Your legit wrong.
She didn't care that Jaehaerys died in the books only that it made her look bad, and she felt bad for Helaena nothing else. She put a price on Jaehaera and Maelors heads, yes a 6 and 2 year old were sentenced to die cause she didn't want any chance of her losing the throne. When people did find Maelor they cut him in pieces and handed him piece by piece to Rhaenyra and she paid them for their "work".
Also she's not the feminist you think she is, she legit would tell woman asking if they could inherit there families seats "a son comes before a daughter." So why the hell should Rhaenyra be any different? Why does she get the throne if a son comes before a daughter?
You all really hold her on this pedestal that isn't even hers, she's not a Child loving kind queen, she's not a feminist girl boss queen. She's a cruel queen, so much so she was called "Rhaenyra the Cruel." And "Maegor with teats." You know how much bad and cruel shit you got to do to be called those things? Too much for you TBs to be comfortable with.
Okay , I get that a lot of people are mad at Aemond for what he said about Alicent, and on the other hand, a lot of people are acting as if Alicent raised a monster in Aemond, and that Aemond’s mindset toward Alicent is rooted in misogyny, because apparently people have convinced themselves that he sees women as ‘less than human’ and his mother is also impacted by that.
So no, that’s not the case. Aemond calling Alicent a fool for her empathy toward Rhaenyra is due to the fact that, the Blacks would never have this type of love, empathy or hesitation toward the Greens, and from childhood he has been tormented by Viserys and the Blacks. I was close to saying that Alicent planted this idea in his mind that the Blacks were his enemies since childhood, so of course, her going back on what she had taught him is angering to him.Â
The reality however is, Alicent didn’t do that. She didn’t really have to. Aemond lived a life growing up where he knew he was second to Rhaenyra and her children in every way, and where he knew his father did not have the same love and empathy for them as he did Rhaenyra and the strong kids. They bullied Aemond, took out his eye, and his father did nothing but threatened to have he and his mother (and brothers) punished/tortured for speaking up.Â
This war is about the throne as much as it is about getting back at, in Aemond’s mind, his abusers, his tormentors, the people who hurt him. He NEVER had the power to do that growing up, he knew early on that Rhaenyra and her family were granted a sort of protection that he wasn’t, that his mother wasn’t. He had to watch his mother, who was a victim of abuse and grooming, navigate in a world where all they had was each other.
He doesn’t see Rhaenyra as a sister. He sees her as an extension of her son’s who bullied him, who caused him to lose an eye. He sees them as an extension of his father who neglected him, who raped his mother so he could be born, yet treated him like he was invisible and did nothing to gain justice for his missing eye.
So why would he love Rhaenyra? Rhaenyra is Viserys in his mind, and Viserys abused his mother, that family tormented him since he was a child….so yes, of course Alicent is a fool to him for having empathy for the people who abused and tormented them.
And if this AFTER Blood and Cheese--it adds insult to the wound. His nephew was killed, his niece was threatened with rape, his sister has lost her mind because of it...so why would he feel empathy for Rhaenyra, whom he probably blames for B&C?
Ryan Condal: what shall I do with my cheating traitor asshole Daemon and my loyal asshole Aemond?
Ryan Condal: ah yes: Switch their personalities and give Daemon a redemption arc!
Ryan Condal and the whole writing room choosing the plotlines by throwing darts at a board, while blindfolded!!!
I’m 💯 on Aemond’s side though. I know the writers tried to make him seem all insecure-man-goes-and-rage-kills-people, but all it does is remind me of what the showrunners did with Aegon’s introduction. Try to make them cartoonishly evil. And people just ignore it because it’s dumb AF.
With Aemond I see a desperate person cracking under pressure, while struggling to keep his family and himself alive. He is literally the ONLY one on the side of the Greens who is keeping them afloat.
Even if he hadn’t burned Aegon at RR, it’s not like Aegon was a competent combatant anyway. Helaena would rather sit around and drink tea and guide her son’s murderer through her dreams. His mother is off on her touch-grass walk, busy betraying the whole family. Criston Cole is monologuing in the woods with his uncle and his youngest brother is still not available for him to take to battle. Who else is doing it, if not him?
i cannot emphasize it enough to you guys that they're giving book!daemon hating his brother and wanting to steal his throne (that's why he begins grooming rhaenyra and sets her against her siblings and poisons her relationship w them forever) is going to show!aemond right now. book!aemond was never characterized as wanting his brother's throne or hating aegon. that was all daemon in the book 😬
Anyways no amount of waxing poetry and pretending to intellectualize Ryan Condal & Sara Hess’s terrible writing will make it any less terrible and they will never be anywhere near GRRM. You love Ryan Condal & Sara Hess’s fanfiction not GRRM’s work and that’s valid for some of yall. 💞
jaehaera important, maelor important, jaehaerys important, helaena beloved by the smallfolk, aegon the father, all confirmed by the writer himself on aegon’s birthday
I want to start off with who I think laid Maelors egg
I think it came from either Morghul and Shrykos mating or just Shrykos laying an egg
We know that Shrykos is female and the only way to know that a dragon is female is if they lay eggs meaning at some point she laid eggs
According to the artist who illustrated the "Storming of the Dragon Pit" from Rise of the Dragon, Shrykos is "copperish" while many think of copper as a orange-ish color it CAN be green and if you consider that the name Shrykos likely comes the creatures "Shrykes" who are said to be beings with green-scaled skin that is hint to Shrykos possibly being green
So this could mean that Morghul and Shrykos or just Shrykos laid an egg and that egg was given to their bonded's little brother Maelor, it should also be noted that Maelors egg is not described as a cradle but rather that he was just given an egg
Maelors dragon egg was also described, very rarely are eggs described in this series especially eggs that "don't matter" later, so rare in fact I can't currently think of one
The description for the egg is also similar with the description of the last dragon
"Maelor's egg was pale green with swirls of silver."
"The last dragon was a green female, who lived in Kings Landing. She was small and stunted, with withered wings."
They are both green meaning that her egg likely wouldve been green and his egg likely wouldve hatched into a green dragon
According to this interaction between a fan and Elio in 2014, we might learn more about Maelor in the Dunk and Egg series if it's ever completed, this is also the series that mentions the last dragon the most so that is possibly why we could find out more about him
Add Aemond to that because that was the most OOC thing I've ever seen in the leaks.
condal was like: you know d&d were so clever and smart
