Following on from a tiny Hot Potato I tossed back and forth with the wonderful @carrymelikeimcute...
Ed destroyed Izzy's coat during the Kraken era.
He regretted it So Fucking Much as soon as he started wanting to live rather than... trying to push Izzy and the others to kill him by abusing them as much as humanely possible.
But he still fucking destroyed it.
Izzy isn't going to leave him over this (even if Ed simultaneously thinks he should, for Izzy's sake; and can't bear to let him go). But there's this awful sadness when he looks at the sea now, and it makes Ed's stomach knot all the way up into his throat.
Buttons has the perfect solution. If Ed goes on a quest to find the real Goddess Calypso, she'll be able to give Izzy a new coat! So the Revenge crew sail away on a new mission, bound for Tia Dalma's grotto........
I just want semi-broken-up (but trying to fix things, but should absolutely go their separate ways) Edizzy having one last adventure together π₯Ί I think I'd prefer it to end with them saying goodbye for good, with Ed waving to a happy chubkins seal who swims off into the bright horizon after the Revenge and her crew! Because they were Izzy's family, goddammit, and he deserved to stay with them.
βiβm doing greatβ oh how perfectly lovely for you. i am personally at the point where any minor inconvenience turns me into geralt of rivia
the worst part of the second round of trials the mages put Geralt through actually came after the fact.
he lost his human ears. his ear holes moved up his head and he grew actual wolf ears over them, but his old ears were cut off once he was awake and concious for it.
he grew a tail. once they were sure it was done growing, they strapped him down to a table and cut it off. he was awake for that too. the damage to his nerves was so bad, the instructors went behind the mages backs and got an exile from aretuza to reverse the removal of his tail. he doesnβt let anyone touch it.
he grew dogteeth. the mages pulled out the smaller ones so newer, larger ones would replace them. Geraltβs mouth aches for years. he canβt speak through them, he cuts his tongue trying to talk, canβt open his mouth enough to chew, canβt stop his jaw from shaking, canβt sleep for the bone deep pain at the slightest movement of his mouth.
his jaw trembles when he cries.
when he grew furry swathes over his chest, belly, and back, the mages tried strapping him down and skinning him. again, awake and given nothing for pain. Vesemir, who did not particularly care for children at the time, charged into the room before they could pull their knives from the cleansing fire and killed them.
Geralt flinches when anyone tries to touch him, even in simple affection, for over a century.
so. when Geralt is through all of his changes and emerges a witcher juvenile, the first of this new witcher-kind, he takes to standing guard outside the trial room and keeping the mages at bay. holds both his swords, annointed in Hanged Manβs Venom, between the remaining mages and the helpless boys beyond. he cannot stop them from making more witchers, but there will not be another like him.
Eskel is the one to tell him that they will begin putting more boys through secondary trials after Geralt reaches maturity and is sent on the path and cannot interfere. they even have a specific boy in mind to start.
Geralt packs up his things, sneaks into the pupsβ room, and steals Lambert away into the mountains just before dinner. Eskel covers for them. not that anyone notices the disappearance of two children with Kaedwenβs army making itβs way up the Killer.
and after the pogrom, Geralt and his stolen brother return to the keep, and find Eskel and Vesemir. with no mages to uphold pretenses for, they form a family to survive. Geralt grieves their lost brothers, doesnβt say heβs glad the knowledge of the second trials was lost in the chaos on the sacking, but Vesemir doesnβt need him to.
and if Lambert favors Geralt, clings to his brother well past the age any boy would otherwise, looks to him for protection from nightmares and monsters alike, for approval of his choices on the Path, and love in spite of them at times, well, Vesemir isnβt in a position to do anything about it.
Concept: You walk outside one night and notice that there are two full moons. A few hours go by and they donβt seem to move.
You stare up at them.
They blink.
logan's two little hair tufts make him look like a meow meow :)
DREAMCATCHER β πππππππ
horrid fic idea day! One of those classic steddyhands izzy-gets-kidnapped fics and they realize how much they need him, you get the drift. But what if, -shocker- we fucked it up??
Ed and stede are mad at izzy when it happens. Maybe it's set, like, in the early stages of Ed and Stede getting back togethe, and they decide it's just easier to take their feelings out on izzy. Or if it's afterward, and they're upset because he's ruining the mood in his love for them and he's a fucking tragedy and they're not.
izzy gets kidnapped by the navy and puts up a big fight, you know him. In the process, he goes full on feral mode and ends up biting someone in the throat because his weapons are gone. They contact Ed (and stede, who's just kinda there) for ransom or as bait. when they do show up, the officer tells Ed to keep his dog on a leash next time. Izzy's right there, blood still on his chin, hanging in between two officers.
we as the audience are all set up to believe that this is the moment izzy realizes how much he actually means to Ed (and stede)- he's taking his weapons out, visibly angry, etc. but when the tension builds and he gets in the officers face, he just. Stops. Straightens up. And snaps his fingers. He gives Izzy his gun. Ed doesn't kill, remember? And Izzy's fucking exhausted. He's in pain. But he does whatever they want him to. He takes the gun and starts fighting like hell. Ed and Stede sit back and watch. There are so many near misses, times that he's genuinely struggling, but they do nothing.
When all the officers are dead, Izzy is the one who apologizes. For the blood everywhere, for the inconvenience, for the fact that he ever dared to think they'd help him.
Bonus points if they treat it like such, a minor inconvenience. Bonus points if they walk out without looking behind them to help Izzy, who still follows. Bonus points if his reward is a brush of the hand and a murmured, slightly sarcastic, "good dog".
