What was your first spec?
I got two answers since I want to hit both instead of miss either of them,
My first *true* speculative Biology project would be for a different world idea of “what if a continent was just filled to the brim with giant fucking bugs.” I created a giant tropical jungle with megafauna and strangely large bugs. And, with my fascination with dragons I threw in giant honey-bee esq. Dragons with Spider drakes too. It’s a side project from Feys.
A general Bee dragon below after years of redesigns and settling on a more beetle-esq look.
I can’t claim to have made a first species *because* I just really liked drawing dragons and figuring out what could make them tick, and then that desire to make a bunch more dragon-centric worlds with additional look-ins to their deeper biology and social dynamics and eventually I just decided to give them a government, hah.
Hope this answered!
[Random-Fox Blogs]
Hiya! I’m a Random Fox— or Fox for short— I’m a 19 year old black self-taught artist! Attending college (on Break rn.) and this is an Art and Lore blog about a Mythological centered continent called The Feylands! I’m hoping to examine and dive deeper into their world and histories.
I hope you stay around for a bit to watch me explode.
Ask questions too, I don’t mind it!
I’ll update this with a more detailed description and a cleaner blog list when I have more on this blog.
I write best at 3 AM because at that time I know I no longer have dignity so rewriting it at a sane hour is 1000% better
1st draft or nothing usually though
How do people even draft
Wyverns!!
Overtime in general all of the species evolved more talons! Right now they’re sitting at 5 talons per arm with 4 hind talons with Wyverns having an additional digit (6 & 5)
Food and culture ideas! Notes under the cut
A majority of food comes from the ocean and shallow waters of their home world. Large-scale hunting is done on a smaller scale, ever since larger communities moved to shallower, warmer waters when civilizations began to rise. Any food items that require an ingredient from a deep sea animal is usually a delicacy.
Anything that isn't eaten fresh is preserved in a glazed ceramic vessel or sealed in a plastic-like packaging made from seaweed. Bowls and drinking cups are typically made from bone, shells, or carved stone.
Soups tend to be sent with away agents because that is one of the easier ways to make sure that daily nutritional goals are being met, while it is not often eaten on the planet itself. Large pieces of meat and fish, along with most other cultural staples, are difficult to store long-term and aren't sent with away teams.
Hello!! I’m Wysteria, an artist and writer looking to get involved a bit more with the community.
I specialize in background art, however I‘ve recently taken up book cover art as well and have been having a blast doing that too and experimenting with styles! You may see some of those pop up here from time to time!!!
As for writing, I mainly write fantasy or historical fiction, both of which take up the majority of my time when I’m not drawing. I’m not sure how much writing I’ll post over here, but keep an eye out for that too!
Asks and interactions are always welcome! I don’t bite
It’s lovely to meet you all!
Here are some questions to consider for character development:
What parts of their childhood trigger them?
How do they treat themselves when they're feeling sad?
What parts of themselves do they tend to hide?
How do they punish themselves when they make mistakes?
Who are they loyal to? Why?
Who do they avoid? Why?
What emotions or situations do they try to avoid? Why?
What angers them?
What are their insecurities?
What are their emotional triggers?
How do they feel about love?
What are their fears?
What is their relationship with their family like?
What kind of people do they tend to gravitate towards?
What do they like/dislike about themselves?
Happy writing ❤

If Griffeux need a dinner. . .
This is more “if Griffeuxes had a meal together,” then “this is how they eat everyday.”
Daily life, since Griffeuxes travel every night, Griffeuxes tend to collect a lot of odd things to chew on if they can’t hunt down a meal. Jerkied meats, dried fruits, nuts- anything that’d fit in a small bag and wouldn’t get in the way. A trail mix!
Or they eat everything as they catch it. It’s either way for them. They absolutely prefer their meats/fish raw compared to their vegetables though.
Just started act 5 of ISAT and
