Ifa Doodle
do you think the reason why Cacucu is bonding with Wrio because Wrio looks like Ifa (they quite literally have the same face/eye design that resting bish face )
Ifa watches how the outlander gently handles the baby saurian and he listens to how Kaeya speaks to the small Iktomisaurus with consideration and respect.
It pleasantly surprises the saurian vet and a small smile spreads across his dark features; Ifa knows an opportunity when he sees one.
The Tlalocan moves in closer, offering the saurian in Kaeya's arms the cracker and he draws the needle closer to the tiny Iktomisarus' thigh. Ifa pushes back the soft dew feathers of the baby dragon and with a quick yet steady focus he administers the intramuscular injection. The Iktomisarus flaps its small wings with sad little hoos and Ifa draws the syringe back. He raises his gloved hand to the Iktomisarus' head and soothes it with a light pet and gentle smile.
❝ There we go, all done. You're so good, little gal. ❞ Ifa discards the used syringe in it's proper sharps container and looks to Kaeya, easily impressed by how the calvary captain manages the baby saurian, but also … he talks funny.
“The heck are you on about, bro? Chill, bro.” Cacucu squawks out bluntly, flapping his little wings by Ifa's head.
❝ Yeah, man. You talk a'lotta game, but we're done yet. Think you can handle a few more. I owe you big time. ❞ Ifa chuckles with a small smile. He appreciates Kaeya's assistance.
' Aye aye, Mr.-Vet-Who-Dislikes-Fooling-Around. Fine, I'll help. But you seem to have the situation under control already, ' Kaeya exhales a sigh of fake exasperation, clearly unwilling to part with his very cute, very warm hat who seems to have taken an interest in him. In fact, while well-behaved, the other Iktomisaurus seem to have noticed him, eyeing him with questions in their big eyes. But it seems like the reward is delicious crackers to munch on, so they stay well in line.
The one in his arms, however, makes a small squeak of alarm at the sight of the syringe.
' Aaah, I get it. ' He's solemnly nodding at the poor baby as he presses in the blue-ish fur of his cape. ' I know, look at that. Seems like a big deal, eh? But it'll prickle for just a moment, our dear vet will make sure that it only stings for a very small time. And then... '
Ah, look at this. Mischief written all over his face as he looks at Ifa, the cavalry captain slowly carries the now-more-agreeable saurus towards the vaccination point.
' ...And then, you can start haggling on how many delicious crackers you want to keep your silence. Start with two and half, and make sure to get to five to really dig the point in that you can't be easily bribed. Or, well, you can be bribed... ' He stops for a moment, considering something inane. ' But master vet is exiting this deal dry. Oh yes, he is. '
It doesn't help that the little Iktomisaurus group are now looking directly at ifa. The babies are craving the honey-flavored sweets, bro.
❝ you can ask me anything you want. i promise i'll answer truthfully except the things i feel like lying about. ❞
Ifa didn't have much of an opinion of The Fatui prior to the war, but since The Captain's sacrifice and hearing Ororon's endless praise of The Captain ... Ifa understands the delegation of diplomats is now viewed as a comrade to the six tribes of Natlan.
However, do The Fatui and its Harbingers see the warriors of Natlan as brothers-in-arms? Are The Captain's colleagues, these Harbingers, are they heroic and valiant as he was? Do they understand what it means to endure and grieve in war, or is it all a game to obtain a chess piece?
This one with ginger locks of hair ... he has an aura about him that's chilling to Ifa's core and it reminds the vet of the first time he met Chasca as kids.
❝ Hey man, it's chill. I'm not looking to ruffle your feathers. I was wondering if The Fatui would like to honor their fallen Captain. In Natlan, we honor every fallen hero. There is a memorial, but ... ❞
Ifa looks in the direction where The Captain's still body resides in Ochkanatlan.
❝ I'm not familiar with Snezhnaya customs. ❞
Ifa has had a few patients who fear sitting on his examination table or fear his needles. He's cared for pediatric cases before, but this ... he blinks at the grown man with verdant eyes, taken back by his visceral reaction to Ifa drawing close for an examination.
Is this not a martial arts tournament? How can someone compete in a festival for violence and test of skill yet are afraid of treating physicians?
❝ Uh … ❞ Ifa sounds unsure. ❝ Would you like me to ? ❞
Ifa has no issue with counting down if that calms his patient. He rather insure the man is not facing a dire situation and needs more than simple topical cure for his gash. It doesn't matter the age or career of the patient. What matter is Ifa is taking care of them to the best of his ability. If he has to count, he'll count.
The cowboy's gloved hands take hold of the man's forearm again and he examines the gash, counting down out loud, and finding no discoloration to the skin aside for the abrasion. Ifa imagines a weapon with some kind of toxin to continue its sting and slow the inflicted is the likely cause, but nothing life threatening or incurable.
❝ No, all honored guests of the Xianzhou are cared for under Xianzhou hospitality and I'm paid by the commission to treat so ... no worries there, dude. ❞
Ifa prepared a tray to clean the wound and dress it ahead of time and he begins his wound care, looking up to the man with green eyes and explaining to him what he's doing currently, if that helps him to settle down as well. It doesn't take long and Ifa smiles when he finishes.
❝ There, all done. You did great. ❞ Ifa returns the tray to a countertop and brings back a small plate of freshly baked cookies. This was suppose to be his lunch with coffee, but he doesn't mind sharing.
❝ I don't have any lollipops, but I made these this morning. New recipe I'm trying too, so let me know how it taste. ❞
@ifadoc : ❛ hold still. this might sting a little. ❜ an assortment of dialogue prompts.
With some force, he yanks his arm out of the healer's grasp, whining for what is flimsy reasoning. ❝ Whoa, whoa, whoa, Doc ! Aren't you supposed to promise me like a lollipop or something then count down ? Tell me it's aaaallll gonna be fine ? ❞ Sampo has never been afraid of needles, has even found some pleasure in points much sharper, but given this new face, he can't help but mess around a little ( even if it paints him in a rather childish light. )
It detracts from the clamor the Fool had been pulled out of. Details under wraps but based on the sequence of events && his own stake in the game, Sampo can surmise that this is mostly related to the Elation's covert presence upon the ship. Those that didn't take to kindly to his existence had inflicted not just a gash in skin but some sort of sting. A poison or something like that, though he's sure it wouldn't actually kill him even if he hadn't been sat down by Ifa. However, it would've looked a lot more suspicious had he refused treatment.
After a drawn out sigh, he offers his arm back, nodding towards the syringe. ❝ How much is this going cost me ? ❞
Ifa's guide to saurians:
Tepetlisaur - Helpful, curious, and friendly in nature. They’ve learned to co-exist with humans, even recognizing when humans are in need of aid, altering and rescuing humans. Their offspring remain with parents and have shown to care for parents in late age. They have extremely hard scales, needing specially designed surgical tools to sept and extract. Teptlisaurs will eat anything and often have gastrointestinal issues.
Iktomisaur - Observant, curious, and calm in nature. They display the most intelligence and understanding of complex human emotions and speech. They are the least aggressive and territorial of saurians. Iktomisaurs mate for life and tend to have bacterial infection on their talons or have feather lice; love to eat bananas the most.
Koholasaur - Intelligent and wary of humans, but known to forge bonds with humans after mutual signs of trust and kindness. They tend to remain within their pods, but known to be curious and enjoy the festive music of The People of Springs. Omnivores and known to eat their own kind. They tend to have health conditions later in life, such as cancers and ulcers, and often lose teeth throughout their lives, they regrow.
Yumkasaur - Friendly and extremely curious in nature. They are not the brightest of saurians, they frog blink. They tend to have so. many. trauma. related. injuries. due to constant aerodynamic lifestyle. They are only aggressive and territorial when young are threatened. The are the second most dangerous of saurians with powerful hind legs and talons that can crush with incredible pressure. They enjoy fruits and love to lick Flamegranates.
Qucusaur - They are more aggressive and territorial than Yumkasaur. The most vocal of saurians and shows intelligence through complex forms of communication. They are harder to form bonds with, often humans need to prove their worth. However, extremely loyal when bonded to a human and some will only take one human rider in a lifetime. Perhaps, the most dragon-like. They fly and hunt in packs with a female leader. They tend to have more social and psychological issues within their own species, a survival-of-the-fits type of hierarchy, and shunning outliners of their packs. They are also known to have feather lice, otolaryngological issues, and heartburn. Strictly carnivorous.
Tatankasaur - The most dangerous of saurians in all of Natlan. A stampeding herd can cause the most tragic destruction towards human settlements, but they can also be the most useful, and can pull things 3x their own weight. They are slow, but resilient, and have six stomachs. They live the longest out of all the saurians, and tend to have quite a wide range of health issues, ranging from fungal infections and bacterial infection, etc. Herbivores. The most dependent on humans for horn and paw care. They have great memory, and are shown to even enjoy playing along with humans of The Collective of Plenty.

❝ you have a nice smile, has anyone ever told you that before? ❞ \ clenches fist , ororon
It is late at night and Ifa was invited for dinner at Ororon's place. The two Natlan warriors are still seated at the table after the delicious meal was done and they idly chat, having coffee and cookies.
Ifa made himself comfortable prior to the meal, his white coat hanging on the back of the chair and he removed his gloves. His hat is flipped over on his lap and Cacucu has nested inside the cowboy hat, sleeping soundly with a tummy full of food.
Ifa has an elbow on the table and rests his chin in his palm, his other hand gently and sweetly petting over Cacucu's feathery head as the qucusaur sleeps.
Cacucu almost never knocks out when visiting Ororon. Those two are always buzzing with energy and they genuinely enjoy each other's company, but the Tlalocan vet and his assistant had quite the busy day at the clinic and Ifa doesn't mind Cacucu snoozing away inside his hat. After the chaos of today, Cacucu deserves to rest.
Ifa continues to listen to Ororon's stories and tales while petting Cacucu's head. A smile soon spreads over his bronze features in this peaceful and perfect moment. A soft and fond smile; a smile that is equally exhausted, but warm and full.
Cacucu has been with Ifa through the thick of it all, through hell and high water, and still he remains by Ifa. Cacucu is such a good and wonderful companion. Ifa feels so grateful, his heart swelling with love and …
Ororon says something odd again and it pulls Ifa from his thoughts.
❝ My what? ❞ Ifa blinks at Ororon. His smile? Did Ororon compliment his smile?
Ifa chuckles nervously and feels the warmth in his heart rush to his cheeks.
❝ Nah, I'd just … we had a long day and we're tired, dude. I should get going. I gotta get this little guy to bed anyhow. Th-thanks, though … for dinner! ❞
