god damn this is a QUILT ('late day shadows' by nancy messier)
Imho the idea of ‘cruelty free’ products or food shouldn’t mean that nothing died to create it, but rather that anything and anyone involved in the creation process hasn’t been exploited or harmed.
Leather is good actually. Veganism isn’t the end all be all to morality and consumption. The issue isn’t that a chicken died for those nuggets, but that while the chicken was alive, it’s life fucking sucked. Vegan chocolate means little if the cocoa that made it was gathered by child slave labor.
Factory farms, abuses of the people who pick the fruit and vegetables we eat, the focus profit and productivity over all else - that’s the fucking issue here. It’s capitalism folks.
On my hands and knees begging adults to allow children to engage in risk play.
And by risk play I don't mean handing them a gun and playing Russian Roulette.
I mean like climbing trees, getting so sick spinning on the swing they throw up, balancing on the curb, sitting in the mud, walking on slippery surfaces, building half ass ramps to ride their bike over, standing on rocks, or anything that involves a smidgen of confidence and out of the box thinking that could result in injury.
Obviously like watch your kids and such, but when we talk about the fun of being an 80s or 90s kid, it's not just talking about CDs and Walkmans or not having iPads. It's about how kids today were robbed of critical learning and experience skills we were allowed to have.
Playgrounds disappearing, helicopter parents, and sue culture really destroyed a child's development in the United States, and I think it's about time we as adults recognize that, because the kids sure have.
Your honour. Put him in the glue trap.
when i was sixteen and insane for my shakespeare class final i had to do the “alas poor yorick” monologue at a competition and while i was doing it i had this insane thought of like. i’ve never been and never will be closer to experiencing hamlet’s mental state than i am right now. like of course all that stuff didn’t happen to me but when you’re 16-19 you kind of feel like all that stuff is happening, all the time, constantly
Your art is amazing!!! I love the stunning use of colour! Do you have a process to pic colours or just mess with them until you get something you like? :)
Thank you, you’re so sweet!! When I draw my own characters I just pick colors I like but for fanart there’s a few things I do. I’ll share my process here in hopes it might help!
When working with vibrant colors I like to soften them by warming them up, making them similar to each other, and avoiding pure colors altogether. Our eyes are sensitive so I never want my colors to be too bright or contrasting.
Tertiary colors are more unique and calming than primary colors so I use them a lot to punch up my art without making things too intense. It also puts a fun twist on designs when we use colors that are close but not exactly like the originals.
Balancing colors is so important! It’s my final step to completing every color palette I make. There has to be a variety, contrast, and a connection between colors. Adding a little of the same color to all of the others helps to accomplish this. Usually I take a shortcut by adding a color overlay in my painting programs. This is also another reason why I never use pure white or black---those colors will not be affected by color overlays.
There’s also my color post here if anyone wants to know more about color theory and things. Color is a huge deal but it’s really fun!
You can't even lay in bed cuddling your girlfriends all day anymore.
Because of work
homosexuality doesn’t feel like getting hit by a fucking train, not really. but if it was, i’d let it steamroll me over and over and over again. the lengths i’m willing to go for my love are unimaginable. if god can do it, why can’t i?

The thing about this website is that you can NOT predict what posts will do numbers. If you sit down and craft something and think 'this is the most insightful thing I've ever written' it will get one pity like from a ten-year mutual. If you flop over to the computer at 3am to drowsily type some bullshit like 'bones are perpetually unborn teeth' before passing out over your keyboard it'll destroy your notifications for weeks.
be busy. busy not checking messages. busy reading those books you never started or finished. busy having a good night of sleep. busy taking care of yourself and your skin. busy moving your body. busy helping your community. busy reflecting on your life and what you can improve. busy doing things aside from the capitalistic viewpoint of “productivity.” busy slowing down.
