Marinette’s adoption habits

I live for all fanfics where Marinette just looks at a sheltered/abused/misunderstood/anything else bad or all and goes “You’re my kid now :)” 

Like:

Marinette, hearing Adrien explain that his father never lets him out of the house and doesn’t pay attention to him: You. You are my kid. My child. I will fight your father, trust me. I will. (Gabriel feels a chill down his spine)

Adrien: what? :D

Marinette, listening to Chat complain about his dad: Hey you know we could use a house cat :)

Chat: Yeah but my dad might look for me. 

Marinette: Your dad? If he looks for you? Not if I find him first :)

Marinette, listening to Luka’s daddy issues: …say how do you feel about having another mom?

Luka: …sure?

Marinette, watching Tomoe be too harsh on Kagami: *pulls out a sheet of paper* I’m gonna kidnap her.

Adrien: Marinette no!

Luka: …I feel like I should be concerned.

Marinette, finding out that Chloe’s mom doesn’t love her: *aggressively writes down sweater ideas for Chloe* Good fucking luck to you, because now you’re gonna drown in my love.

Chloe:: …is…is that a threat? Is she threatening me?

Marinette, pulling out some knitting supplies: No. I’m promising you love and affection.

Chloe: …why does it feel like you’re forcing yourself too?

Adrien, wearing a sweater that says ‘I’m the Chat’s Meow’: Oh she’s not. That’s anger for your mom and the fact that she didn’t know.

Chloe: …why would she be mad that she didn’t know?

Luka, wearing a sweater with a few music notes: Because she could’ve fed you and loved you sooner

Chloe: what?

Kagami, wearing a sweater that says ‘fencing queen’: Mother has adopted you now

Chloe, exhasperated: w h a t?

Marinette, looking at all the batkids and Bruce: …mine? 

All of her current kids: no.

Marinette, smiling as she hands them all new sweaters: Mine. My kids ^^

Damian, nodding: mother. 

(She tried to adopt Talia. It went like this:)

Talia: you… want to adopt me? I could kill you?

Marinette: What’s one more person trying to kill me? Anyway! Sweater! :D

Talia: …I don’t like sweaters

All of her kids plus Bruce: *gasp* she doesn’t like sweaters…

Marinette: *pouty* you don’t like sweaters…

Talia: …I’ll wear a sweater if you don’t adopt me.

Marinette: …deal.

Marinette, chasing an orphan and trying to give them food: LET. ME. ADOPT. YOU.

Orphan, running with her bag: NO? WHAT THE FUCK?

Marinette, eyeing up an orphanage:

Emotionally Constipated Kacchan vs Oblivious Deku, and the squads doing their best

I just can’t get it out of my head how Shouto, who was introduced as “The Boy born with everything” - the perfect quirk, a rich family, groomed from an early age to become the strongest hero - by his mere existence is indirectly causing the collapse of hero society. 

In a way, his birth is a culmination of many things that are wrong with hero society - the over-emphasis on strong, flashy quirks, the ranking system which assigns worth to heroes based on results and popularity, disregarding their moral characters and makes heroics a zero-sum game rather than a team effort for the greater good. 

And it’s so ironic, because the entire Todoroki-family is a mini-version of hero society.  The children with weak quirks are immediately discarded and ignored (and let’s not talk about how both Fuyumi and Natsuo end up in professions where they truly help people), Touya is strong, but his body is imperfect, so no matter how hard he works, he can never fulfill Endeavor’s ambition to become No. 1., for which he is cast aside, when the “perfect child” is born. And how that causes resentment to the point where he turns not against his abuser, but against his fellow victim. 

And how twisted that Touya is every way the one true heir of Endeavor. He is completely wrapped up in his selfish goal, using people around him, including his own family (both his birth family and his found one) as mere stepping stones and puppets to further his goals, just like Endeavor taught him to. He is in every way the creation of “old” Endeavor’s values. 

While Shouto who rejected and resisted Endeavor’s attempts to mold him kicking and screaming every step of the way, who never subscribed to his father’s goal ends up being the one standing shoulder-to-shoulder with him, in almost matching hero gear,  looking on with horror as Touya is dancing on the ruins of everything Shouto was born to protect. Because heroes save everyone. 

And I’m guessing the question will be asked again. Who is everyone? Does it include abusive fathers who destroyed your family? How about villainous brothers who murder innocents out of spite?

Bakugou gets a stress induced ulcer every time Deku pulls something stupidly self-sacrificing, lies in a hospital bed next to Deku and proceeds to go off on him, in hopes of Deku finally growing a brain so that he can stop putting Katsuki in the hospital.

(And sometimes stupid Deku will be unconscious for days and Bakugou will lie on his side, in pain because Deku is still not awake and hope the damn nerd will open his eyes soon.

Katsuki gets better and discharged before Deku wakes up yet will come by to sit in that stupid hospital chair so that Inko can go home and get some rest and when Deku wakes up, he will leave without a word.

That’s when Deku realises that he fucked up magnificently because angry Kacchan is vocal and makes his feelings known, not in words but in actions.

Silent Kacchan is hurt in ways Deku can’t understand and it kills him a little.)
