in case anyone was forgetting what the church was all about

The comic plays with the idea of 'a wolf in sheep's clothing (An aesop fable about how sometimes people who may look nice might actually intend to deceive and hurt you) for comedic effect. Like in the original story, the wolf enters the flock with the intent to eat the sheep and bring it's kills back to the pack. 'he he he they don't know I'm really a wolf.' In the second and third panel though, the sheep are open and friendly to the wolf, complimenting it and offering to dance and graze in the meadow and the wolf is charmed by them. The punchline is in the third panel where it's revealed that the wolf was so charmed it abandoned it's pack entirely to pretend to be a sheep forever, subverting the original story.

will never get over what happened to the women’s march. the largest single-day protest in the history of the WORLD. 82 countries and 7 million people. an incredible display of female solidarity, hope, strength, and resistance. reduced to “white women in pussy hats.” not by conservatives but by leftists!! who gleefully dismissed this enormous protest because “white women voted for trump.” never mind that the women who attended the march very obviously did not vote for trump. they were all vilified anyway, even though a huge percentage of the protestors and organizers weren’t even white. the whole protest somehow came to be seen as a cringey, frivolous display of white woman privilege. again, the women’s march was GLOBAL and unprecedented in WORLD history. yet it’s pretty much never talked about anymore, except to joke about pussy hats.

Huh, I hadn't thought of that the first time I read it but there is a pint there- Victor begins thinking that he'll create something beautiful and wonderful but after actually seeing Creature he experiences a massive depression event and abandons it. As much as he insists that he'd make a decent parent; that insistence comes from a place of arrogance and lack of foresight.

He brings Creature into a world that despises him. Creature is a brilliant mind, well read, he shows compassion towards the family he watches over, and helps without being asked, but the world offers Victor's child nothing but physical abuse and abandonment until he grows painfully resentful. There's the idea there that if Creature had any positive relationships, maybe everything here could have been avoided. On the anti-natalist end though, bringing Creature into this world is in and of itself an act of arrogant cruelty. How could he know what people are like and choose to create a child anyway.

Frankenstein feels like a very anti-natalist work. From the modern perspective of course. With the original context, the themes about the progression of science and the nature of humanity still stand

Weeks a person dying hasn't got. Women are now dying. Actually dying. Because hospitals legally could not save their lives until they could wake up a judge and get their lawyers, and another sides lawyers awake and up and figured out if it was actually necessary or not. All people with no understanding of medicine, and no attatchment to the person suffering who simply doesn't want to die.

People are dying. People who should be alive. Who would be alive if abortion was legal and the hospital could have simply treated their patient without waiting for a dozen men with no medical experience in another building to decide if their patient actually needs treatment or not. And yes they do have to wait. Because if they don't they get charged with murder for trying to save a life.

See the funny thing is most people are chill with co-ed as an option. There are places where female people are too vulnerable for third spaces to be considered reasonable (Mostly related to shit like strip searching or prisons) but in 75 percent of cases single sex spaces are an alternative created because males couldn’t stop harassing people. yes, it is more socially acceptable for a woman to present in a masculine manner than for a man to dress/act femininely. but that is not the same as masculinity being encouraged. tomboys are tolerated as young girls- but once you've hit pre-teen/teenage years, the expectation is that you femme up and drop any masculine characteristics. masculinity in girls is allowed as a childhood phase, but it is by no means encouraged, especially as you begin to mature and enter adolescence. anyone who thinks that masculine women are treated favorably in society has never met an actually masculine woman
