Question I could use some help on! Trying to convince a friend that Kaylor are still together and she said what about the lyrics of "It's Time To Go". What's the best, most concrete evidence to counter that? And, what's a good explanation for the song it's time to go that isn't a jab at Karlie? Would love people's thoughts!
Can someone answer this for the anon?

hey swifties can we talk about the lover house

with soft and folksy clothes
dare i say, cardigans?
I kind of feel she purposely tied it more to JG to kinda protect Emily? She has a very ânormalâ life and I think sheâs scared for her to get harassed when people start connecting the dots to women from her past in a few years. ATW became such a huge thing through the years which she obviously didnât expect at the beginning. and even though I want to think itâs the original version I feel more and more like she changed the lyrics to fit JG to protect Emily and their past. But I could be totally wrong. Itâs only been a few hours and thereâs still so much to unpack.
I had the same thought. I mean she used the scarf line as a visual to tie to someone (even if I wasnât that specific scarf and happened with someone else she mimicked it), and thatâs her brand especially back then â giving people something they can tangibly tie to someone. It kept people engaged with her music while maybe protecting someone else in the meantime. Tale as old as time. Doesnât make the song any less special!
đż It's because Taylor openly exposed the đ´ every chance she got that I think Karlie still has a beard, just for the protection of their private lives, and nothing more. Both are multi-millionaires, money is not the issue here, but physical security and lack of psychological preparation to expose such a significant part, what is most precious in their lives, the their family.
Imagine the fear Taylor must have felt of losing another important part of her life, her privacy and maybe even her relationship, because of all the repercussions this story will have, if made public, after the sale of her masters. I think all the courage and preparation Taylor has built up to come out of the closet over the last few years has been totally shaken after Scott's betrayal. That's why she didn't come out in 2019, and Karlie must be finishing her contract, or else why would she celebrate the end of her 7-year contract (tweet of đ), only to sign an extension next month or before? It makes no sense! I've talked to some mutuals and I'm on the team that believes Karlie is in that sunset clause that Todrick and Ashley talked about and hoping the end is near.
It's not money or blackmail, it's just protection. You saw that, even though she exposed the dirty way SB2 acted, Taylor was still criticized harshly, many saying that she was complaining with a full pocket and wanting to play the victim once again. Do you think that even after showing that she was betrayed and having little support with her masters, she would venture to say that she has somehow lied and deceived everyone for years and and she would let speculation increase about her real connection to Karlie Kloss in last years?! The hatred for Karlie would be 10 times greater than today, that even those who once supported KK are now throwing stones at her for keeping her wife and child safe.
I think the plan before was for Taylor to come out while Karlie was still married, so no one would say Taylor turned gay because of KK. However, after the masters pivot, she said in The Lakes, now she's just going to come out with her muse. That's why they both still have beards, to protect their family, although I don't think Karlie's will last much longer. I don't think she'll turn 10 years bearded. I hope.
I don't agree that Taylor was not supported with the masters sale. I feel like she received a lot of support. Sure there will always be naysayers, but I don't think Taylor was judged harshly for her reaction to the sale.
Karlie could also have gotten divorced and found a new beard if their goal was protection. There is no ethical justification for what Karlie is doing. She is bearding for an organized crime family. There is no sugar coating it. She is getting blasted for her public actions. She cannot expect anything less based on how she is presenting herself to the world.
I used to scream ferociously any time I wanted.
Hey kids! Vegas is fun! đśđđś
but why would taylor write 'he's so tall' about a man because she's already tall so most guys are her height anyway (unless the guy is like really really tall) but it's wayyyy more likely that she would write that about a 6'2 woman who is way taller than anyone she's dated before, so therefore the height of this woman is enough to comment on. right? it's sort of similar to the argument of 'it's new, the shape of your body' not being about a guy
In conclusion:
Remember how Karlie would always wear flats around Taylor in high heels so they would be around the same height? đ
(**DISCLAIMER: This is just my own personal opinion. I am not connected to Taylor in any way, so donât take as gospel. Iâm looking at this from the perspective of a closeted relationship, so any mention of her being gay or âclosetedâ or âin the closetâ is alleged she herself has not said this. In addition, I am not calling this a breakup song or insinuating there was a breakup, so donât come for me. Lol**)
I have listened to this song probably 1,000 times since it was released on yesterday and with every single listen, I get a little more emotional. To me, this is a song about doubt, self-doubt, anxiety & insecurity in a relationship and as a lover/partner. Feeling like youâre losing someone or that youâre going to lose themânot because of a fight or because someone cheated, but because youâve been searching for this type of love for God knows how long and now that itâs here in front of you, it scares you. Itâs kind of like when you suddenly win the lottery and youâve never had such a significant amount of money. Itâs overwhelming and you donât know how to react to or handle it.
âCombat. Iâm ready for combat I say I donât want that, but what if I do? Cause cruelty wins in the movies Iâve got a hundred thrown-out speeches I almost said to youâ
Perhaps in past relationships, she lost people because they were ready to take that next step and she wasnât? Maybe she had painted those people in a specific light/in this perfect image in her eyes, but things happened that have caused them to change or changed her view of them and she didnât know how to fix it, so she âjumps from the train and rides aloneâ. She doesnât like conflict so she avoids it. She didnât want to put up a fight then, but now she wants to fight, even though she doesnât like conflict/confrontation. Taylor is ready for war. Sheâs ready to fight for the happy ending. However, her current lover places her on such a high pedestal and sees her so differently than she/everyone else does that she doubts herself as a lover/partner and doesnât feel that sheâs deserving of it. Sheâs a mess, but sheâs the mess that her lover wants.
âCruelty wins in the moviesâ because even though thereâs almost always a happy ending, itâs not real. In real life, there arenât always happy endings, so the âcrueltyâ in that is that movies force-feed the notion that there is always a happy ending. People get so attached to this fictional concept that itâs almost like youâve been lied to because, in real life, relationships just arenât like the ones we see in movies. Love isnât something thatâs figured out in an hour and 30 minutes. In real life, Aladdin might not end up with Jasmine. Belle might choose an asshole like Gaston.
I think the âhundred thrown out speechesâ are things Taylor never said to her lover because the consequences of telling someone how you really feel (rejection) are terrifying and now she wishes she had and realizes she still can. Maybe sheâs admitting that she didnât feel âemotionally matureâ or realizes that she canât use naivety anymore as sheâs getting older and in her own words:
Playing mind games is for the chase. In a real relationship or friendship, youâre shooting yourself in the foot if you donât tell the other person how you feel, and what could be done to fix it. No one is a mind reader. If someone really loves you, they want you to verbalize how you feel. This is real life, not chess.
âWho could ever leave me, darling But who could stay? Dark side, I search for your dark side But what if Iâm alright, right, right, right here? And I cut off my nose just to spite my face Then I hate my reflection for years and years
I think sheâs so used to searching and ending up disappointed or being happy and having to sacrifice that happiness that she tries to find something wrong with a person or tries to find a way to hurt them so theyâll leave. However, her lover doesnât bite and now thereâs a lot of unnecessary pain/self-inflicted wounds that are slow to heal. Now, itâs like Taylor is realizing the person sheâs looking for is the person sheâs with and that itâs always been them. The one who could leave her when sheâs tried to sabotage the relationship hasnât whereas anyone else would have. In NYD she promised her lover that she would stay when they were lost and scared and turning away; but in The Archer, the tables are turned: the lover has stayed while Taylor is the one whoâs lost, scared & turning away.
âI wake in the night, I pace like a ghost The room is on fire, invisible smoke And all of my heroes die all alone Help me hold on to you Screaming, who could ever leave me, darling, But who could stay? (I see right through me, I see right through me) Cause they see right through me They see right through me They see right through Can you see right through me? They see right through They see right through me I see right through me I see right through me All the kingâs horses, all the kingâs men Couldnât put me together again Cause all of my enemies started out friends Help me hold on to youâ
This part is where the song got really emotional for me. The anxiety, doubt, and insecurities she has about the relationship and the added weight of being closeted keeps her up at night. She paces like a ghost meaning she hides her feelings. âTheyâ (people) hear her, but donât really hear her. They see her, but donât really see her. She doesnât know who she is anymore, but she knows that this whole front she puts up isnât the real her. She asks her lover if they can see through her as well. It kinda sounds like sheâs crying out for help or to be saved. After all âto be truly seen is a far greater freedom than to be invisible.â (credit to Spade). This is also why I recommend the film âBeyond the Lightsâ to people.
The people who would normally help her canât fix this. People sheâd normally call for help arenât there anymore. Not because of a falling out necessarily, but sometimes youâre the only one who can help yourself. Like Spade said:
âas I laid there unaware, the sun came to me and whispered its warmth into my broken parts | Slowly, I turned to her, and said âAre you saving me?â | She responded with truth âNo, you decide your fate.â
Sheâs been the archer (the one who chases) and the prey (the chased). Sheâs been the archer (the one in control) and the prey (the vulnerable one). Sheâs been the archerâthe one whoâs taken shots and the preyâthe one whoâs taken shots.
Now, sheâs confident. Now, sheâs ready for combat.
Note the song choices Taylor sang after the show from Karlieâs hometown, St. Louis
You have only really seen this re-newed friendship since July, since the engagement to Kushner
Enty wonders if Karlie and Taylor have reached some sort of understanding
He wonders in these last 3 months, when Taylor talks about âthings that have changed in her lifeâ that were not there two years ago, which would have been 2016
2016 is when Karlie and Taylor stopped publicly hanging out
Enty reads this part of the ig post caption again
The âtwo yearsâ part sticks out, is Taylor talking about Trump? Karlie? Karlie and Taylorâs estrangement over the past 2 years???
Enty thinks itâs about the latter due to Taylorâs focus on LGBTQ recently and also in the ig post
Enty says take all this and think about how it could all be intertwined
Things Taylor has told us in the past, might not be true
Songs that are supposedly about ex boyfriends, might be about someone else
She is growing up
Something triggered her in the last few months
She wasnt hanging out with Karlie BEFORE Karlie got engaged, THINK ABOUT THAT!
And think about how Taylor has grown
And now that the tour is over, letâs think about where Taylor wants to focus her attention and her LIFE
Thoughts from me:
Enty never mentions Dianna đ¤
Enty seems to really believe that Karlie and Taylor were âestrangedâ from 2016 until just recently. His voice was full of conviction. He never made any âread between the linesâ comments about this sepcific time period
He was trying really hard not to out anyone during the entire episode, some with less grace than others (Taylorâs beards)
He knows that Tree keeps up with his blog (he mentions this in a different episode I listened to afterwards)
He very much focuses on the legal aspects of the rumours about Karlie and Taylor, there has never been one lawsuit, not one cease and desist for any articles or blind item reveals
He really stresses LGBTQ and Taylorâs connection there
There were a lot of pauses, start overs, heavy sighs, lip smacks, âummmmsâ and âerrrrrrrsâ as he was trying to find the best way to say/phrase certian sentences, I think so he could not be held liabel, or to accidentally out anyone.
