A/N: HI! I rewrote these, because I hated them. Now you can expect a part two lol.
Synopsis: These are separate drabbles of Megumi x reader encounters where his dogs come and visit you when he’s getting it on. These are just progression encounters in an strangers to lovers timeline. I intend a part two, but here are the first five in the series.
All of the characters in this are aged up, despite still living on the campus of Jujitsu Tech. (They live in the teachers yard) I never really specify, but the readers job is to research the places sorcerers are to vacate curses from. They then hand the info over to ijich. They are called the Jujutsu Librarians.
Your cheeks coat in cold moist streaks. Your half asleep state chalks it up to a window left open, likely a November chill nipping your skin, but then its warm, then cold and wet. Licking.
You snake your hands around your attackers neck, pulling them into a snuggle, soft fur puffing between your fingers. You beg for five more minutes with a promise to give them all your attention at a waking hour, but as your mind begins to slip back into a blissful rest you are presented with two absolutes.
You are not home, and this is not your dog.
With a grog you have to fling yourself from a black dog leans on your side while another white on peaks at you from the foot of your bed frame. You’d ask who they belong to, but the red symbols on their foreheads tag them as Megumi’s.
The black dog weaves through your still packed suitcases hopping to your unoccupied side. You look around wondering why they could be here.
The only times you’d seen the pups was when they were hunting curses and from the look and feel of your surroundings their was none.
White dog pants onto your nose, slathering you in a slobber gooped kiss.
“oof,” you say, rubbing your nose, you voice caught between normal and sandpaper. “thanks for that, um-” you look around the shut window and door. “how did you?”
Behind your studio apartments door three knocks echo through the room pulling your and the dogs attention.
“Come in-”
Megumi peaks over the lip of the door, freshly showered hair dripping onto the rug. “hey,” His eyes find both butts of his dogs wagging at him as he steps inside. “I’m sorry about them. They uh- Tend to wander when not working.”
“it’s fine. I don’t mind the company,” you say, thinking about the millisecond of peace you felt in the animals familiarity. “My dog hasn’t yet arrived from my home country, so they’re being very comforting.”
“right um-” he holds out his hands, the dogs dissipating from reality. He goes to turn before pausing in the doorway. “you’re the new librarian, right?”
You pull your pajama shirt straight wishing this wasn’t your first official meeting of the sorcerer. “At standing yes.”
He nods. “what is your name?”
“L/N.”
“Hm,” he says, “nice to meet you L/N, sorry again about the dogs.”

fellow like-minded creatures, with the overwhelming (to a little creator like me) support from my new megumi drabble i’ve decided that i’ll start taking requests from everyone (if that does happen at all)
let’s keep ‘em sfw but i’ll do suggestive ofc
touya dabi isn't as smooth as he thinks he is.
the first time you catch him, you're in the parking lot, halfway from your car to the long, concrete flight of stairs outside the apartment building. whenever he would come before, when you could sit on the steps and wait for him to arrive—his lone figure would always manifest across the street.
near a convenience store, one that's been closed for years and yet still remains, on the outside of your little gated community. where exactly he was coming from, you never knew, but he would give a half-ass jog across the road and hop the fence and stand before you on the steps, arms out like he was coming home after a long stint away.
you suppose he was. at least that's how it felt to you.
it's not a coincidence that you spot him there now, leaning against the wall as the sun starts to set. hiding in the growing shadows well enough, but still visible where he stands, where he's always stood. it's only been a few weeks since you've seen him and you wish he was closer so that you could read between his lines, find the truth in them. despite everything, you ache for him, for this; it must be tearing him to bits, even if he won't admit it.
today was your first appointment. it's early, but things are as fine as they're supposed to be, you assume. nothing major to report. healthy. fast heartbeat. a little grape-sized thing.
touya dabi doesn't want you to see him, but you raise a thumbs-up high in the air anyway.
money appears under your mat a week or so after that, fat stacks of ¥5,000 bills.
it makes you angry at first; touya dabi made it very clear that he will have no part in this. with it. that didn't surprise you in the slightest, which is maybe why you avoided him once you found out. locked the doors and the windows and didn't answer any numbers that read unknown caller. at least that way it was your choice not to see him, and not because he was jumping ship.
the whole exchange was ugly. the kind of fight that makes your stomach sour, has you wanting to go back just so you could argue against whatever points he thought he was making. has your eyes watering, stinging with the memory of it all.
but this is unexpected. it. not that you don't have a support system and some savings in the bank, but being a single mother wasn't exactly predicted in your forecast and it's his damn kid, after all. if he wants to fork over all his earnings—however he gets them—to try and mitigate some of his own guilt, well, then, that's his choice.
meanwhile, you're gonna buy a bitchin' crib, one that attaches to the side of your mattress.
you start showing a little after three months, and touya dabi starts creeping closer.
he doesn't wait near the store anymore and instead moves inside the gate. he must watch you when you have your back turned because you don't see him until you're inside, moving to the window as slowly as you can so as not to alert him with your shadow.
not ever in the same spot. all you get is the flash of his coat, trailing his ghost as he turns and high-tails it, or the edge of his boot that he doesn't realize is sticking out so much. sometimes it's just the sound of a clicking lighter, the low burn of a cigarette end. a white-haired figure in the distance, gone with the low breeze.
one night, when you're feeling sick and lonely and the reality starts to bite at your edges, you open the blinds and take your time with mindless things; cleaning the glass in a tight tank-top, shuffling through mail in the clear view, poking at your belly button, trying to imagine what the little thing will look like.
you don't see him that time, but his hurt echoes inside you.
touya dabi can't stand it after the baby shower.
a friend helps lug all your gifts up the stairs, helps to stack them neatly in the office that was emptied when you found out. it's a lot of big things, like some animal-shaped-diaper creature and tons of wipes and a high-chair and an overload of stuffed animals. you go half-way down to thank them, bid them goodnight, and when you return to the room, he's sitting there.
on the floor with his legs out in front of him, facing the presents like they're his next battle. touya dabi is even wearing a pink party hat, one of the paper horns tucked between his lips like a cigarette.
you look at him and he looks at you and he blows it and the silly sound would make you laugh, if your heart wasn't beating so fast in your chest. you're stuck between a lot of emotions, but you've been picturing this moment every night for months, and the one thing you want to make clear to him is:
"if you don't want her—"
"i never said that."
it's the first words he's spoken to you in a long time, and they come out just as angry as the last ones did. a snap, furious, suddenly. in turn, it makes you just as mad.
your face screws up, and so does his. "okay, well you heavily implied it, then, when you insisted she wasn't yours."
touya dabi throws his hands in the air and shakes his head at you, like you're dumb. "how does that make any fucking sense? even if it's not mine, i didn't say—"
"she is yours, asshole—"
"don't start with the names, baby," he's quick to shoot off the floor, even quicker to yank the hat off his head. "you don't wanna fucking go there with me."
you're stuck between a lot of emotions, but the strongest is heartbreak, and to see him yell at you and be so fucking angry is harder than you imagined it would be. you thought you'd be strong enough by now to stand your ground; instead your voice comes out as a whispered plea. "get out."
touya dabi runs a harsh hand over his face, pinpricks of blood tearing into his skin before he crushes the hat in his fist and tosses it to the floor. he opens his mouth like there's something he wants to say, but he doesn't.
he just leaves. just like last time. just like always.
it becomes routine.
the quiet creak of the floorboards is him in the middle of the night, the soft click of the door latch when he closes it as he steps into the office. sometimes he pokes around in the things you begin to unpack, sometimes he leaves his own stuff; the clean stack of bills, a princess doll you've seen advertised on tv, a gel thing you put in the freezer for her to gnaw on and—surprisingly—medical stuff.
kid's cough medicine, a thermometer, pedialyte, diaper rash cream and other skin lotions, that sucky bulb thing for snot.
"i was early."
this is the second conversation you have with him, when you're nearing six months. he doesn't turn around to look at you, just watches the mobile your mom bought as it spins, splashing little fishies onto the wall.
"and small and—sick all the time." touya dabi lets out a bitter little laugh, and the rasp of it makes your heart throb. "probably the shittiest baby ever, so—" his teeth click together hard. "good luck with that."
you shrug, even though he doesn't see it. "we'll figure it out."
"we?" like a cat, his back curls, all his hair standing on end. you never see the flame, but smoke swirls his palm. he still doesn't look at you. "we who? don't tell me you mean that fuck that's over here all the time."
the admission should maybe surprise you, but touya dabi has always been—particular about you. about sharing. you can only imagine how he feels for the baby in your tummy. probably will go nuclear if she ever calls someone else 'dad'.
you can't help but to roll your eyes. "no, we as in her and i." it only relaxes him a little bit and you shuffle on your feet, clearing your throat to make way for all the words you wanted to say to him last time. "you can't—" already, your voice breaks and your eyes sting and his back curls all over again. "you can't just pop into her life every other month because you feel bad, dabi. so, you're either in or—you're out."
that has him peeking over his shoulder at you, eyes shining in the moonlight filtering through the windows. glowing, you could say. "now you're gonna keep me from seeing my kid?"
it's—beyond the most infuriating thing you've ever heard and so you have to laugh, just once, as you wipe your eyes. "oh, so she is yours now?"
he sighs, goes back to watching the mobile, and is quiet for a long time. almost like he's considering it—but you know better. "well, she ain't here yet, so i got time before i have to scram."
and you swore you wouldn't do this, wouldn't beg for him, but the tears won't stop—even though he mutters out a quiet "i can't—just—don't cry, i can't—"—and something swells in your throat and your chest aches and—
"you don't have to be out, touya." you hate how pathetic it sounds, but you wouldn't care if it meant he would stay. "we can figure it out, together. as a—"
"this is my mom's number." touya dabi talks so loud over you, he's practically yelling. eyes on the floor as he holds out a piece of scrap paper, a name scrawled across in his neat handwriting. "if you wanna tell her, then—she'll probably wanna know, or whatever. my sister too, she'll—"
he never finishes and he never looks at you, just shakes his head at the carpet.
dabi visits one last time before she arrives.
you find him where he always is, where he was the first time he accepted what was to come; sitting on the floor of your daughter's room, smiling, almost, at the neon stars plastered to the ceiling. in his hands is a set of photos from one of your ultrasounds—nothing new, just somewhere in the middle of your pregnancy—and he holds it with the very tips of his fingers, like he's afraid of touching it anymore than he has to.
you sit beside him, heavy with a baby and standing on sore, swollen ankles. "you can have it, if you want. i have plenty."
and you'll take plenty more, in the future; he just shrugs, attempting to look indifferent and yet looking anything but. you expect him to to deny you, like he's resisted all things, but his bottom lip pouts out more than he probably means for it to, and he just fingers one edge carefully.
"hope you got a name picked out."
"i do," you lean into him and he lets you, even accepts the tiny kiss you press into his warm shoulder. "do you want to know what it is?"
"no," he sighs and makes a face, though you can't be sure if the annoyance that flashes over him is meant for you, or himself. "best not to."
a set of tears stings your eyes that you know will show in your voice, so you just nod, letting your head fall to his shoulder. it draws out another heavy breath from him, a shaky one that he holds too long, before he finally rests his mouth against your hair. you can feel the flare of his nostrils, the grind of his jaw; if he could cry, you think he would be. he would have, since the beginning.
very quietly, you tell him, "she won't be anything like you," and when he nods and grits his teeth and clears his throat, you capitalize, take advantage of all the affection he'll show by taking one of his hands in your own. "she'll know love and patience and kindness, and i promise i won't ever try to make her into something else."
she won't know fear, not until she has to, not until you can help it. she won't ever have to know what it's like to grow up without a roof over her head, or food in her little belly. you won't let her be a tool, a stand-in, something you throw away in place of someone else.
all that he had to go through. all that's made touya dabi.
she'll never know that hurt.
"yeah," he whispers. "good."
when he moves his head, you move yours, propping your chin up to see him better. touya headbutts you lightly, squeezes your hand in his own, pinches at each of your fingers.
"is there anything...you want her to know about you?"
he doesn't bother to hide his frown now, though he shakes his head at the floor and looks away. it pulls on what little holds him together, tugs on him in ways that shouldn't, that you wish wouldn't, and he stares at the set of photos in his hands and tells you, "i never said that i didn't want her."
omfg yes yes and yes and also he pretends not to be sad realllyyyy really hard but sometimes its just too much and when yall first moved in together (!!) and he was crying in the bathroom hiding you went in and kissed his forehead (gojo melt moment) and held him and sat on the cold tile cradling his head and didnt say anything sarcastic or stupid or anything actually and just sat w him until he started talking to you abt his feelings
AND he was so embarrassed afterwards he tried to make it up to you and apologize for wasting your time and you smacked him in the face (!!!!) and scolded him for thinking that way and he felt SO LOVED 🥰
i feel like gojo would be in a ‘hot chocolate x green tea’ relationship.. his partner is very funny but more of the sarcastic humor and he pretends to be offended but he never actually is. his partner is his sense and is the person who tells him to stop eating so many sweets and maybe get in some protein, makes sure that he sleeps well and tells him not to take missions when he’s sleepy. and when they do all this he wants to cry because he never got that time when he was babies becs he had to grow up so quickly. his partner his this older , mature energy about them and it makes him feel so different- not like he has to impress anyone or have anybody’s back. because hes finally being taken care of with no strings attached, and it feels so good to him. OH LETS NOT FORGET HOW HE WILL BE THE KINDEST PERSON EVEN TO HIS PARTNER!! because they’ve done all this for him and he wants to now buy you the entire earth or say the most disgustingly kind things to you.
like if you so much as tell him to have a good day , to be careful and that you love him he stops dead in his tracks and goes. , “thank you !! i love you more!! you’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me!! byebye yn!!” while he’s walking out , and his voice is getting farther and farther but he’s also getting louder because you MUST know how special you are. the good you’ve done. how much of a good person you are. you HAVE TO. and don’t get me started when you’re sad. because when he’s sad he doesn’t know how to express it properly so he makes these atrocious jokes that leave you so concerned, but you still comfort him anyway, and he loves you so much for it. so he’ll hug you a tight but doesn’t know what to say at all😭. so he’s holding you and rocking you side to side and just saying , “i’m here, it’s alright, i’m right here,” because that’s all he really knows how to do but he PRAYS that it’s enough for you because he will literally wither away if it isn’t. gojo n his more emotionally smart, mature but still chaotic partner </33
aND LASTLY. everyone hates when you two are together because it’s so chaotic , you can’t even get out a sentence because every word you seem to say has some kind of dumb ass inside joke or something. like you once read a book that mentioned a baseball bat being heavy and he was so distraught . he kept going ,” heavy????? 😏 baseball bat???????? 😏” and now whenever anyone brings it up or it’s on tv you both topple over laughing. megumi is done cus he thought you were supposed to be the mature one 😕😕😕💔💔
to pretend: to make as if; to put on an act.
megumi angst - the extra heart shattering kind
warnings: none i think, just a wedding and a sad sad reader
“y/n?”
megumis eyes gaze adoringly into yours and his voice is clear in the silent barn, decorated heavily with blue flowers and white ribbons. since you were kids this barn was a haven for you, set on the bank of a softly flowing river, amplifying the shrieks of joy from you and megumi as you caught the slippery toads that slept in the corners or took turns reading long and exciting fantasy books to each other, acting out the scenes with thick twigs you’d found on the barn floor as wooden swords, stubby arms haphazardly swinging the sharp branches in each other’s faces. and now, it was housing a wedding, a wedding that you and megumi and your best friend rina had been planning for months. every detail from the thick soft napkins to the tablecloths draped over the long tables horizontally lined up on either side of the barn, making way for an aisle in the center. but it was all wrong.
“i’m not so sure about this gumi” you mumble to him, but rina steps forward confidently and takes your hands in hers.
“y/n, there is no one, no one, i would be more honored to have as a best friend,” her hands squeeze yours softly, emphasizing her words, “…and no one i would be more honored to have speak at my wedding.”
“my wedding”
you grimace at her words, but this is her day, her and megumis day, and you’d be dammed if anyone ruined the wedding of the two people you loved the most, even if that person was you. so you step up to the microphone and take it shakily in your hands. you make eye contact with megumi one more time, and you see his eyes sparkle with unshed tears as his hand reaches for rinas, who smiles genuinely and lovingly at you. you clear your throat, and begin the story that will today join the two in front of you together, as husband and wife, and forever tear you apart.
“when i first met rina,” you begin…
“me-gu-mi!” you whine, pulling at his sleeve,“you can’t be this antisocial forever, what if i die? then you’ll have no friends,” you state bluntly.
“but i don’t need other friends.” megumi pouts, trying to withstand the power of your twelve year old arms threatening to rip his sweatshirt apart. “why do we hafta go hang out with her?”
“because i wanna and because i said so,” you say stubbornly, and drag him over to the empty lunch table, save for a dark haired girl with her hair tied up with a red hair tie , “we’ll be like the three musketeers!”
the girl notices you and the grumpy megumi behind you , and her face lights up into a smile. “hi,” she says shyly, looking up at you, “wanna sit?”
“of course!” you say, letting go of megumis sleeve and eagerly slide into the seat next to her. “i’m y/n, and this is megumi,” you add, pointing to the dark haired boy occupying the seat next to you, “wanna be friends?”. the girl nods again, pointing at herself, “i’m rina” she introduces with a smile.
“…i think originally rina and megumi were,” you pause, thinking of the right word because you hadn’t practiced beforehand, hadn’t even had a draft because while you were able to force yourself to help with everything else, drowning in the work to forget who it was for, you couldn’t bring yourself to relive these moments any longer than you had to. “…weary of each other”, you continue, which earns a few chuckles from the audience.
“is that your brother?” rina whispers to you when megumi goes to throw out his trash, taking yours with him as well like he’s been doing since elementary, but leaving rinas with a glare that he knows will earn a pinch later on.
“no, silly,” you giggle,”he’s just my friend.”
“oh,” rina says, “i don’t think he likes me that much.”
“megumi just isn’t good with new people,” you reassure her, “i’m sure he’ll warm up to you.”
“…but it was as if a magnetic force drew them together,” you paused, the physical hurt of saying these words numbing your mind, “they couldn’t stay away from each other if they wanted.”
“gums i can’t make it to the library,” your voice is lined with annoyance and disappointment, clear even through the phone, “you and rina’ll just have to stay without me.” megumi hmphs from the other end but reluctantly agrees to stay for your sake, you want them to be friends, you were tired of the tension between them during those lunches, and you’d grown close to rina, you wanted her to stay, and that meant megumi had to accept her as well. but accept was a pathetic word to describe what came next. first it was subtle. your phone pinged and you looked down to find a text from megumi. “me and rina are going to that bakery downtown, wanna come?” you frowned, when did they make those plans? maybe at the library, maybe they exchanged numbers? but you shrugged it off, happy your two best friends were able to get along this well. then it sped up. you’d gone out shopping with your mom for birthday presents for your brother, and walking into a candy shop you saw megumi, pointing at different jars of candy next to a blushing and excited rina, who was doing the same. why were they here without you? it’s not that you wanted to control the friendship, but you were the three musketeers, the inseparables, yet you’d known nothing about this plan. so you slipped out and pushed it to the back of your mind.
“…and soon enough the inevitable happened,” you continue, and you see megumi wink at rina and a couple guests laugh at the exchange, “they fell in love. why wouldn’t they? they were p-perfect for each other.”
“y/n? can i talk to you?” rina says meekly, not quite meeting your eyes.
“of course rina! what’s up?” you ask, although some dark angry part of you already knows what she’s about to say. the same thing that megumi had said to you two weeks ago, sitting on your bedroom floor, fiddling with his fingers and pleading you not to be upset. “y/n i like someone,” he’d started, “she’s pretty and she’s smart and she’s everything i’ve ever dreamed of.” your heart races, you’ve liked megumi too, for the longest time, ever since that day he’d given you his umbrella and walked through the pouring rain with you to make sure you got to your house even though it was in the opposite direction of his. “she’s so caring and i’ve just realized how much more she means to me then a friend after all our years together. you nod shyly to megumi, and reach out to grab his hand, but he lifts it up and runs it through his hair. “so?” he asks you, “does rina like me back?”
“y/n?” you hear rina say, and you realize you’ve zoned out for most of her confession, too lost in the one megumi made about her. “does gumi like me back?”
“w-ahat? oh yes, yes he does!” you feign excitement, and push her out the door, “you should go find him! confess, it’ll go well i promise, he’s liked you for a while too.” and when she leaves you close the door and collapse, all hopes of megumi gone and down the gutter. even worse, you were all still friends, this was a relationship you would have to support, you didn’t hate either of them for it, you knew they were both exceptional people and you were happy for them, but at what expense?
”which brings us to now, this couple standing before you, two of the sweetest, most compassionate and kind people, and my two best friends, who are about to be wedded and deserve all the happiness in the world. i know how much you love each other, i can see it in your actions, the way he pulls out chairs for you rina, and cares for you even when you don’t want to care for yourself”, you say, remembering the time you’d spent hours packing and planning for a day at the museum together but megumi had texted you asking you to make up a reason to cancel because rina was on her period but too stubborn to cancel herself, “and the way she calms you and makes you happy, lights up the light in your eyes and warms your heart megumi,” you say, recalling the time megumi had broken his arm and you’d been there first since you were closer, him wincing when you hugged him and giving short tired answers to your questions, but lighting up when tina ran through the doors, seeing her eyes light up and look past you to him had hurt , seeing them hug and megumi not flinching once had hurt too. “i hope that you will forever be happiest together, and that the future holds nothing but good for you two.” a future i’m not in you think. “thank you.” you say and the tears flow as you step down from the stage and celebrate the joining of the man you love most with the woman you consider a sister. but your tears are hidden in plain sight, sheer overwhelming emotion, an outpouring of happiness it looks like to onlookers. but it is only the opposite. you slip away for the vows, you don’t think you’re strong enough for that after the speech you’ve just given, and eventually megumi finds you, sitting on the curving stairs leading up to the loft, crying softly.
“you ok y/n/n?” he asks softly, his thumb grazing your cheek as he wipes a tear away, but the action no longer flutters your heart, the heart in question too broken beyond repair it seemed, to ever flutter again.
“i’m fine gumi, i’m fine.”
if only you weren’t pretending.
