X : MY DILUC, MY EVERYTHING :*+゚

“What do you mean Mr Diluc is your boyfriend?” Klee asks, tilting her head to the side with an inquisitive look in her eyes as you bend down to her height.

“I mean that Mr Diluc is my boyfriend. My partner. We’ve been together for years now.”

“You mean that Mr Diluc, right?” She raises a tiny hand in the direction where the red-haired in question stands. He’s immersed in conversation with Kaeya and Jean, but from one glance you can tell the estranged brothers are up to no good. Or rather, that Kaeya is having the time of his life provoking your partner.

“That’s the one. I think he’s the only one, Klee.”

Her pointer finger then comes up to her chin in contemplation, and her breath of contemplation materialises as a small cloud, condensating in the winter chill. “Why?”

“What do you mean, why?”

“Why is he your boyfriend?”

“Well, why wouldn’t he be?”

“No offence to Mr Diluc, but he’s so cold and boring!” She cries, clenching her fists to her chest, as if being ‘boring’ was a crime to humanity. “And he never smiles. He should smile more but I would find him scarier like that… so maybe he should stay the way he is: a total gloomy bum bum!”

You can’t help but laugh at her honest statement, muffling the noise with your hand. She blinks at you and wonders what she said that made you laugh, but you simply tell her that it’s nothing.

“Maybe, but I love that ‘gloomy bum bum’ just the way he is.”

“But… why? Y/n is so kind and knows how to smile! Mr Diluc is too sad and boring for you.”

Over the course of your relationship with the wine monopolist, you were met with resistance from various people who believed they wanted ‘the best’ for him. These were including, butand not limited to, businessmen, his admirers, and old aristocrats with wealth on the brink of collapsing. You never let their passive aggressiveness get to you, their comments burned to ashes by the way Diluc lights the way for you with his undying flames.

Yet hearing a child, who has no real grip of the world beyond explosions and how not to blow up Monstadt, explain that Diluc shouldn’t be with you because he doesn’t know how to smile is… unbelievable. Her intentions are nothing but pure for her knowledge of the world has not yet been tainted by the nuance of human behaviour. As refreshing as it feels to have her support, any insults you hear about Diluc are unpleasant to hear. Though she may not hold any malice, perhaps her judge of character needs to be deepened.

“Sometimes, the coldest people are really the warmest,” you begin, gently wrapping her scarf around her neck. “Mr Diluc is one of those people.”

“Really?”

“Warmer than a fireplace, or a Pyro Crystalfly, or Jumpty Dumpty.”

Her eyes widen. “Really?”

“Yes, but please don’t go blowing one up just to see how warm it can be. Jean already told you about the animals hibernating during winter, you shouldn’t go disturbing them.”

She tucks her hands behind her back, eyes downcast and ears flopped.

“Do you remember when Albedo took you to Dragonspine and when you melted a chunk of ice, crystalflies flew out of it?”

“They were so pretty and became super warm! I wish I caught one of them, but they flew away too quickly.”

“Mr Diluc is just like that ice with the fireflies. You just need to warm up to him and when you do, he can be one of the best people you’ll ever meet.”

“Will he fly away too?”

“You could keep an eye on him and find out.”

She nods, determination alighting in her eyes with the new task you assign her. Although you’re pretty positive she won’t ever succeed with it, you’re just happy you’ve found a way to show Klee that your lover isn’t as terrible as she deems. A flash of familiar red hair appears in your periphery.

“Dear?” He calls, capturing your attention. “Shall we head into the tavern now? It’s too cold to stay out here.”

Sparing one last glance at Klee who regards your partner with fire in her eyes, you can’t help but smile at the pure innocence in her heart. With a ruffle of her hair as goodbye, you take Diluc’s hand and stand, waving goodbye to the rest of the group before heading in the direction of Angel’s Share. Shuddering, you sink deeper into the wool of your coat and the warmth of his Pyro Vision, a perfect combat to the winter frost that’s covered Monstadt.

“You know,” you begin when both of you have arrived at the empty tavern and the red-haired has a fire started in the corner. He urges you to continue with a soft ‘hum’. “The conversation I had with Klee just won’t leave my head.”

“Oh? What’d she say?”

Sitting down on a cold stool, you keep your gaze on him as he walks behind the counter. It seems like he’s preparing drinks and snacks for you: some cheese, crackers, and grapes.

“First of all, she only found out today that I was dating you.”

“Oh? Jean or Albedo haven’t told her before?”

“I guess neither of us appear that much in conversation together. But she refused to believe it at first, being like ‘you mean that Mr Diluc?’, ‘why is he your boyfriend?’,” you laugh. “She thought that you were too gloomy to be with me and that I should be with someone who knows how to smile.”

His cheese knife halts, the sound of metal meeting wood slicing through the atmosphere. However, you’re too engrossed in retelling the story to notice the way he freezes.

“How silly. Kids really have the wildest presumptions and thoughts to match.”

Diluc continues preparing the food, stiff hands moving along the counter. You don’t say more than that, saving further conversation for when he’s done. As he sets the arrangement of crackers, cheese, and grapes down, it’s accompanied by a heavy sigh.

“What if… she’s right?” Asks the winery owner, voice no louder than a whisper.

“What?”

“You heard me.”

“I did, but I don’t understand why you think that way too.”

“Well, smiling isn’t my strong suit anymore and I’ve been told by the knights that the children find my expression too scary.”

“You know anyone can smile, right?” You ask jovially. “It’s not like a statistical impossibility-“

“It’s not just that,” he interjects sharply. Your smile fades, acknowledging Diluc’s sombre expression that clarified he wasn’t joking around like you thought. However, seeing the change in your attitude sobered him and that sharp glance fades, turning into something remorseful and softer. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to snap like that.”

“No no, it’s my fault for not taking you seriously. Please, go on.”

“I’m quite boring, you know.” He fiddles with the ends of his leather gloves. “Did you never think that maybe what Klee said could be correct?”

“Never because she’s not correct. Honestly, Diluc, after all these years of being together and hearing what some people have to say about us, I never thought you’d think like this.”

He casts his gaze downwards. “Because those people don’t know me like you do.”

Two hands come up to cup his cheeks, gently directing him to look up at you and meet your kind expression. All inhibitions he had melt away at the sight of your smile.

“I can only hope they never do,” you reply simply, confidence lacing your words.

Being with him is not easy. He is a busy man, one who manages the entirety of Monstadt’s wine business during the day and takes to the shadows to look after your beloved city at night. Yet, despite working with the sun and moon, he still gives all of him to you. For as long as Diluc will allow it, you hope to be the only person he’ll pick baskets of grapes with, play slow games of chess with, and freely lay out his convictions to.

You’ll be damned to give up your spot beside him without a fight.

Diluc doesn’t believe he deserves the same. “You’re too patient with me. I’ve let you down too much for you to be this forgiving,” he grabs your wrists and gently knocks his forehead against yours. “I can’t give you everything you want.”

“You’re my Diluc, you already are everything.”

˖⁺‧₊˚♡˚₊‧⁺˖ Internet Cafe Love ˖⁺‧₊˚♡˚₊‧⁺˖

synopsis: The white haired boy who regularly visits the same internet cafe as you becomes your boyfriend but can your relationship survive when his best friend seems distrustful of you?

warnings: 7,915 words (long one shot with multiple settings),Nagi X female reader, gamer Nagi, per fluff no smut since it is written while he attends high school still.

˖⁺‧₊˚♡˚₊‧⁺˖ Internet Cafe Love ˖⁺‧₊˚♡˚₊‧⁺˖

You had often noticed the white haired boy at the internet cafe as he seemed to go nearly every night the way you did.

While you also brought projects and subjects to study on the side when you were taking a break, you noticed he never took breaks, the clicking of the keyboard and mouse were constant companions. This had led to you bringing your own noise canceling headphones that were much more soundproof than the gamer ones that came with the PC set at the cafe.

That was your current situation, headphones in practicing a new writing style of kanji when you felt a light tapping on your headphones. You glanced up and towering over you was the white haired boy. He wore an oversized gray sweatshirt and black sweatpants. You moved your headphones around your neck.

“Did you need something?” You asked, meeting his gray eyes.

“Do you have any money?” He asked straightforwardly.

“Money? What for?” You asked, looking him up and down again. He didn’t seem in need based on his lounge outfit and you now noticed the light up rainbow keyboard he had under his arm. It had gone unnoticed before since his tall domineering figure was the main spectacle.

“Lemon tea. I wanna buy one from the vending machine but I’m low on money because I spent it all on this and the gacha games on my phone,” he said motioning to the keyboard.

You raised a brow at not only his abruptness but also his poor money management. You had some cash on you but weren’t too keen on giving it up since you planned on getting food at your favorite food stand after you left the cafe.

“Well I don’t have any money,” you said.

“Bummer,” he replied, not sounding convinced as he plopped down in the spot next to you and began removing the default keyboard and setting his own up to the PC.

You bit the inside of your cheek, chewing on it a little to hide your annoyance. Now he was gonna be right next to you making all this noise.

“Do you really have to sit here?” You asked.

He looked over at you as the PC booted up, his gray eyes seeming slightly hurt.

“Is that a problem?” He asked. The way he asked made you feel guilty. Yes he was a bit eccentric and odd but so far he was harmless.

“No it’s fine,” you said. By now your kanji was forgotten and you watched as he opened a first person shooter game and signed into his account.

“God of soccer?” You teased regarding his gamertag.

“Oh yeah I’m on the soccer team at Hakuho High School,” he said.

This guy went to the elite prep school? He didn’t seem like the type. You yourself were in the neighboring public school.

“I wasn’t aware Hakuho had a team,” you stated as he loaded into a game.

“My friend Reo and I started the club up so we’d have a team to go to nationals.”  His focus was now on his game however as he had chosen a sniper character. You watched as he hit every headshot. He was eerily good at the game and you didn’t miss how match chat came up with the enemy team accusing him of using aimbot. When his team won the game he exited the queue and remained on the menu and looked over at you as he had been aware you were watching the whole time.

“You’re really good, how long have you played that game?” You asked.

“Just a few months now,” he said, shrugging.

“And you aim that good already?” You asked in disbelief. You weren’t half bad yourself and had always considered your aim to be impressive but his was godly.

“I grew up playing first person shooter games,” he said as if it was no big deal. He glanced at your notepad before adding, “what’s with the studying?”

You blushed.

“I alternate between studying and gaming,” you answered his question.

“No, I mean I see you studying here all the time even when it’s not exam season,” he said. So he had noticed you before as well? That was to be expected as you were both regulars.

“I just like to study consistently,” you replied. He made a face and you added, “you don’t? You go to Hakuho, surely that’s more rigorous than my public school.”

“Well sure but I just study a few days before the exams. Hey, are you sure you don’t have any money? I could really use that lemon tea.”

His delivery made you wanna laugh. He was easy going and charming all without meaning to be and yet he was still odd, you hadn’t ever met anyone like him before.

“I'm still thinking about it. Do you have a name or is it just god of soccer?” You asked.

He chuckled.

“My name is Seishiro Nagi. What’s yours?”

“Y/N Y/LN,” you replied, telling him your first and last name as well.

“Nice,” he replied, “you wanna play some games?”

The two of you were duos on the same team with him playing the sniper character again and you his support offering him both damage boosts and heals. Between both of your combined skills and efforts the two of you went on an eight game win streak.

An hour of gaming had gone by even though it didn’t feel like it and the two of you decided to call it quits.

“So Y/N,” he started.

“No about the lemon tea,” you joked. He shook his head.

“Forget about that. I have a home game tomorrow at my school in the evening. The match starts at two. You should come,” he said. You noticed the slight pinking of his ears when he said it.

“I’ll try to go,” you said. You did enjoy playing with him even though originally you had felt slightly annoyed by his presence.

“You should, our school’s marching band is gonna be there too for the first time,” he said. He finished unplugging his keyboard and putting the original one back and stood up. He scrolled through his phone quickly before adding, “will you be back online tonight? Maybe we could play some more too.”

You felt your heart somersault at how he sounded hopeful.

“I may but I’m not sure I don’t usually play late.”

“Bummer. Hey Y/N?”

You prepared to be asked about the damn lemon tea again.

“What?”

“Do you have a boyfriend?” He asked shyly.

“No I don’t.”

“Good keep it that way. I’ll see you online tonight,” he said quickly before waving bye and taking off.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

You were back home in your room that night freshly showered and sitting on your bed getting ready to settle in for the night and watch TV.

You heard a notification from your PC and received the notification on your phone as well through the gaming app.

It was Nagi using the whisper feature where you could message online friends direct messages.

GodOfSoccer: get on

You smiled at his eagerness.

SleepyKoala: Kinda don’t want to I’m tired

GodOfSoccer: don’t care I wanna play with you

SleepyKoala: Nagi we played so much today

GodOfSoccer: true well are you coming to my game tomorrow?

SleepyKoala: Yes

GodOfSoccer: WOHOO LETS GOOO

GodOfSoccer: forgot to say earlier cute gamertag

SleepyKoala: Thanks :)

GodOfSoccer: give me your number

You did and not even a minute went by before you got a message from him. It was a plushie of a koala on his desk next to his PC monitor. You also caught a view of the rainbow keyboard from earlier. You created a contact ID for him and added a koala emoji to the end of his name.

You: Cute plushie

Nagi: he says thank you. I’m gonna game a bit I’ll see you tomorrow

You: see you

You then settled at last to watch more of the Netflix show you were currently binging until you lulled to sleep.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

The next morning you woke up at noon having slept in later than you would have liked. After doing your morning routine and eating, you made your way to the supermarket to buy a lemon tea for Nagi.

You hadn’t been able to ignore the butterflies that you had gotten thinking about him. You had checked his online status and had noticed he had stayed up until one in the morning gaming.

Supermarket mission successful, you began to make your way to Nagi’s high school. You had timed your schedule perfectly so the metro would arrive at 1:30 giving you enough time to head to the stadium before the game started. Your outfit of choice was casual with a tote bag to hold the lemon tea and your noise canceling headphones though you doubted you’d need them.

Arriving at the school on time you couldn’t help but notice how much more expensive everything seemed. You knew it was an elite academy but as you followed the crowd into the stadium you noticed just how much the school invested into its extracurriculars.

“Y/N!”

You turned around and there was Nagi coming up to you.

“Hey Nagi,” you replied feeling slightly shy from your flirtatious exchanges with him.

“You like the stadium? Reo’s dad is this mega rich guy and he donated the funds and manpower to build it. He doesn’t care for soccer but he frequently donates funds to the school for them to use for whatever purpose they’d like.”

You nodded. He looked handsome in his soccer uniform, the black jersey, shorts and black socks contrasting against his white hair and skin.

“Oh before I forget, since you kept asking yesterday,” you said, taking the tea bottle out of the tote bag and giving it to him. That made him laugh in glee.

“Thanks for this,” he said gratefully.

“Nagi! We need to warm up!” A purple haired figure shouted as he ran over. When he caught up to where the two of you were his equally purple eyes were distrustful of you.

“Reo. This is Y/N. Remember I told you about her?” Nagi said.

So this was Reo? His suspicious eyes took you all in.

“Yeah I remember. Nice to meet you,” he said but his words didn’t match his tone or expression.

“Nice to meet you too. Nagi’s talked a lot about you as well,” you said and you noticed that did soften his eyes a bit if not fully.

Nagi seemed oblivious.

“Y/N, if you sit there you’ll have a good view of me,” he said pointing to a specific section before continuing, “and I want you to look at me not any of these other guys.”

His words sent a jolt of heat between your legs and to your face but you simply nodded and assured him you’d be watching him.

“Nagi,” Reo scolded impatiently, “we have to warm up.”

“Alright alright,” he said following him but yelling back to you, “stay after. Text me if you can’t find me.”

You headed to the section he had designated would have the best view of him.

Throughout the game Nagi had lived up to his gamertag. He truly was a god of soccer. He was lightning bolt fast his legs moved just as fast as you had seen his fingers were capable on the keyboard.

He also worked incredibly well with Reo. They were a dynamic duo on the field and the passes between them were strategic.

When Nagi had scored a goal he had looked directly at you and pointed, unmistakably claiming it had been for you.

His team was in the lead right now and you hoped it would remain that way.

During the halfway break, you waited eagerly waiting to see him again. When they came back his eyes searched for you instantly and met yours sending you a sweet smile. As expected his team won and you cheered happily for him. As others started leaving the stadium you waited for him afterwards like he had asked you to.

You didn’t have to wait longer than ten minutes. He was racing towards you, changed clothes, freshly showered and his gym bag over his shoulder. To your dismay you noticed Reo tagging along behind. It’s not that you didn’t like him, you just didn’t understand his scowls and distrustful attitude toward you.

“Y/N! Did you like the game?” He asked, standing in front of the railing of the seat you had remained at.

“I did. It was so great seeing you score,” you said.

“I wanted to score for you,” he said, his cheeks turning pink. “Hey Reo and I are gonna go get something to eat. Do you wanna come?”

Your eyes dashed to Reo a second after Nagi asked the question and you could tell he was exasperated.

“That’s okay I think I’m just gonna head home,” you said softly.

Of course you wanted to spend time with Nagi but you couldn’t risk Reo disliking you even more after all he is Nagi’s best friend his opinion must count for something.

Nagi, still oblivious to all this, furrowed his brows in confusion.

“Okay. Well when can I see you again?” He asked. He seemed hurt that you weren’t coming.

“I’m free tomorrow. Maybe text me later and we can come up with something,” you offered, not feeling comfortable under Reo’s purple gaze.

“Okay I will. Thanks for coming, it really means a lot,” he said, giving you a sideways hug now as you stepped down from the bench you had been sitting at. He towered over you and he smelled incredibly good.

“You’re welcome. I enjoyed every minute of it.”

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

“So how long have you and Reo known each other?” You asked as you took another mouthful of ramen. When you had gone home yesterday you had gotten caught up on school work and chores. Nagi had texted you at night and asked if you wanted to play some games to which you had agreed. Somewhere between steam rolling the enemy teams and playing silly custom games in the arcade he had suggested going out for ramen and boba the next night.

Now as the two of you sat in the restaurant’s outdoor patio seating with red paper lanterns illuminating the night sky you were interested in knowing more about his best friend who didn’t seem to take to you.

“Not too long. I met him here at school probably six months ago,” he replied.

“He seems very fond of you,” you said.

Nagi shrugged.

“Reo got me into soccer and I have him to thank for that. Before him no one really talked to me at school.”

This surprised you. He was good looking and charming, sure a bit strange and had his quirks but he was friendly and good company.

“Really? Not even girls?” You teased.

“Especially girls,” he joked back. His gray eyes were looking at you softly. It gave your stomach butterflies. Lately it seemed like all he did was either give you butterflies or make you belly laugh. His hand reached out to lift your chin up so you were forced to meet his gray gaze head on.

“You always look away from me when you notice me looking at you. You never look at me for too long,” he said in a gentle tone.

“I don’t mean to on purpose,” you said trying to be casual although the thumping of your heart was a great contrast to the calm you were trying to portray.

“I like when you look at me and when you watch me play video games and soccer,” he said, inching closer to bridge the gap between the two of you as you sat on opposite ends of the table.

Was he going to kiss you? It seemed like that was his intention. You wanted to kiss him but worry and concern and feeling Reo’s stinging rejection you pulled your chin from his hand and looked away. When you glanced back at him he wasn’t looking at you for once but looking down at his lap with clear hurt in his eyes.

“I thought you liked me too,” he said with embarrassment coloring his voice. You couldn’t take him thinking you were rejecting him, not when he was perfect and sweet and everything you could ever want.

“I do like you!” You said.

“Then why won’t you let me kiss you? I want to so badly,” he asked in desperation.

“Reo-“ you started but he didn’t let you finish.

“Oh,” he said, sounding deflated, “do you like him or something?” It was obvious he was trying to sound nonchalant but jealousy threatened to burst through.

“No no I don’t. I mean I don’t dislike him. He’s your best friend so I don’t have anything against him. I just don’t like him in the way I like you,” you stammered. His response had thrown you off completely because it was the last thing you had expected him to say.

“You don’t like him? Lots of girls do because his dad is that rich guy and girls think Reo is good looking,” Nagi said.

“No, I don't see him that way. I like you,” you said, face flushing at your confession.

“I’m confused. What does Reo have to do with you not letting me kiss you then?”

“It’s just. Reo doesn’t seem to like me. He looks at me as if he’s distrustful and suspicious,” you said.

Nagi instantly relaxed and laughed.

“Oh that’s just how he is. He’s very overprotective of me. It’s nothing personal he’ll grow out of it once you’re around more,” he said.

While Nagi’s words assured you, you still found the whole bit a little odd but maybe that was just their friendship. Maybe Reo saw Nagi as a brother he looked out for. You decided to focus on the latter part of his sentence.

“Once I’m around more?”

At this he reached out across the table taking your hands in his.

“You know how I asked you if you have a boyfriend?” He asked playfully.

“Yes it wasn’t that long ago Nagi,” you replied.

“Well I want to be your boyfriend,” he said. He looked at you from under his long eyelashes, his gray eyes so sweet and vulnerable.

“Well I don’t know this guy at the internet cafe told me to not go getting a boyfriend,” you teased.

“What a little prick he probably wants you for himself,” he went along with your joke.

The two of you laughed before he spoke again,

“Can I be your boyfriend? I promise to be good.”

“Yes you can be Nagi,” you replied.

“Awesome. Can I kiss you now?” He asked practically whining.

“Yes Nagi,” you laughed but your lips were soon overtaken by his. The kiss was sweet and made your head spin.

You wondered if this is what it meant to be on cloud nine.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Your routine for the past few weeks had become Nagi centered.

You continued to go to the internet cafe regularly. In fact that’s where you spent the most time with Nagi since you still went to different schools. You would go watch him practice and go to his games, he had even given you one of his jerseys to wear and he was strict about you wearing it to each match. You’d stay up on video chat with him as well and watch as he streamed his games for you when you were too tired to play with him yourself.

As for Reo, there wasn’t any progress to be made there as the two of you were still virtually strangers but at least his scowling had  toned down.

“I wanna see you more often,” Nagi said, his lips kissing the top of your hair as you hugged him bye at the end of practice.

“We see each other nearly everyday, Nagi,” you laughed. However he did have a point since the majority of the day you were at different schools you only saw him in the evenings at the internet cafe, at his practice, or when he had games on the weekends. You were also busy studying a lot of the time as well and still not feeling comfortable enough to hang out with him and Reo who was often around.

“Why don’t you stay over this weekend?” He asked but was trying to hide the shyness he felt from asking.

“You mean like at your dorm?” You asked.

“Yeah, why not?” He shrugged.

You thought about it, you were so comfortable with him you didn’t have any objections and most of all Reo wouldn’t be there.

“Sounds like a plan.”

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

“This is Choki,” Nagi said, motioning to a little cactus in a pot on his desk. You had your travel bag with you around your shoulder and had taken the metro to go to Nagi’s dorm in the late evening.

He had met you at the stop and walked you back to his room.

“It’s very cute,” you said. He was eye level with the cactus smiling at it.

“He is very cute not it,” he replied defensively.

“Yes he is cute,” you corrected, continuing to look around his room.

For a dorm room it was quite spacious but that was to be expected of the elite school. His bed was made and neat with a plush dinosaur throw blanket folded neatly on the comforter. He had a television in his room on a stand next to his desk where his PC was. His PC setup consisted of the rainbow keyboard and the koala plush and Choki next to it, and a gaming chair. He also had a mini fridge with a magnet holding up a photo of Reo and him that was taken on a Polaroid camera. Towards the entrance of the room there was a sink and mirror and the toilet was secluded in a cupboard-like closet separate from the full walk-in closet that held his clothes. The room was illuminated blue from the LED lights he had.

“What do you think of my room?” He asked tentatively as he watched you inspect the place.

“I like it. It seems very comfortable and clean,” you replied.

He let out a sigh of relief.

“Good because I cleaned it before you came over. I’m not a slob or anything but I can get disorganized because I procrastinate,” he explained.

You nodded but felt yourself blushing as now the full prospect of being alone with him was setting in.

“You wanna watch a movie?” He asked.

“Sure,” you replied.

He grabbed the remote and laid back on his bed, kicking off his shoes while doing so.

“You can lay down you know,” he teased watching as you stood there. You followed his lead and also took off your shoes, dropping your overnight bag on the floor and laid down next to him. Gently he brought you closer to him, wrapping his arms around you and kissing your hair. He flicked through movies on the streaming service.

“Do you have a preference?” He asked.

“We can watch whatever,” you replied. He chuckled.

“You’re not helping here,” he teased but then settled on an animated movie about animals. He started the film and then put the remote down, his arms still holding and caressing you.

“Is this okay? I want you to be comfortable with me,” he asked. You could hear the vulnerability in his question however and knew that it would hurt him if you didn’t want him to touch you. Fortunately, you did enjoy his comfort and warmth. He felt like a bear hug.

“It’s okay I’m comfortable like this,” you assured him.

You watched the movie intently but your heart still pounded in excitement from his closeness and you wondered if he could hear it.

He watched the movie as well, occasionally peppering kisses into your hair or chuckling when he found something funny. It was peaceful and not awkward in the slightest. You enjoyed this comfort only Nagi could bring. If it were any other guy you’d worry about his intentions but when Nagi said watch a movie and spend time with you he meant it, not trying anything else besides cuddling.

Towards the end of the movie you heard slight snoring and looking up you saw Nagi had fallen asleep. He looked more boyish when sleeping. You watched the rest of the movie and when it finished you turned the tv off. Nagi was still fast asleep but you didn’t mind, taking it as a sign that he felt comfortable around you. Ever so carefully you moved out of his arms and went to brush your teeth using his sink. You then used his walk in closet to change into your oversized tee and shorts for sleeping. When you came back you saw Nagi blinking in confusion from having woken up.

“I thought you left,” he said sadly.

“No Nagi, I was just changing. You fell asleep towards the end of the movie.”

“Oh I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to,” he rushed to get his words out but you were quick to assure him.

“It’s okay, I thought it was sweet. I didn’t wanna wake you but I already brushed up for bed.”

He looked you up and down in your pajamas and his eyes softened. He repositioned himself so he was now laying in the bed underneath the sheets and blankets.

“Come snuggle with me. It felt so good having you in my arms.”

You obeyed his words and got into bed with him facing towards him. His  eyes looked at you lovingly.

“I love having you here. I got up early today to clean my room and make sure everything was perfect. That’s partly why I fell asleep but most of it was because of you. Cuddling you and smelling the nice scent of your hair was so relaxing.”

His way of declaring loving and saying things so openly with his childlike innocence was so endearing to you. Other guys were much more guarded and wouldn’t admit such things out of fear of vulnerability but Nagi just said what he always thought.

“I love being here with you Nagi, you make me feel so safe,” you replied truthfully.

He pouted a little.

“You know you can call me baby or honey or anything you want,” he said.

“Okay baby,” you said, giggling a bit. It was still new and felt a little strange coming out of your mouth.

“Hey what’s funny?” He asked before adding: “you’re my baby and I’m yours and that’s that.”  He pulled you closer to him as you laughed.

“You’re right baby, you’re so needy,” you joked.

He pouted again but it didn’t last long because he kissed you nice long and slow. He tasted so good like mint and just Nagi, his ocean breeze scent intermingling with the kiss. Your hands felt his soft white hair as you kissed and he moaned a little into your mouth.

When your kiss broke you gazed at each other.

“You mean everything to me,” he said, cupping your cheek. You curled up closer in his arms so he could snuggle you again how he had loved.

“You mean so much to me too,” you told him. He yawned.

“I wanna sleep with you again, it felt so good. This feels so good, but don’t get any ideas. I brushed my teeth before you got here,” he said.

That made you belly laugh and swat him a little in laughter.

“What? It's true I always brush my teeth right before I see you. I want you to like me,” he said innocently.

“I do like you,” you said. In fact you were starting to think you more than liked him and as you both dozed off to sleep you heard him say the words you had been thinking out loud and it was the last thing you heard before being overtaken by sleep.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

“I’ll be here waiting,” you told Nagi as he ran off towards the locker rooms to change for practice.

This morning you had woken up completely entangled and cuddled into him. His long legs had interlaced yours and after very prolonged kisses and cuddles you had gone out for miso soup for breakfast at a little restaurant nearby then returned to the high school campus for his practice.

“I was almost starting to think he wasn’t gonna show up,” a voice said behind you. You turned around and Reo was standing behind you on the field already dressed in his uniform for practice.

“Reo, where did you come from?” You asked wondering how the two of you hadn’t noticed him on the way in.

He ignored your question and you felt small under his violet intense eyes.

“You know Nagi is never late for practice. He’s usually here early with me,” he said in an accusatory tone.

“Yeah sorry about that it’s just-“ you stammered but he cut you off.

“It’s just you were with Nagi last night and because of that he was thrown off routine this morning,” he finished for you. By now you felt yourself growing frustrated with him. You didn’t know him and he didn’t make any effort to know you, your only mutual connection was Nagi and he seemed hell bent on disliking you.

“Reo what is your problem with me?” You asked out of genuine curiosity and frustration.

He seemed more than happy to tell you.

“My problem is that ever since you’ve come into Nagi’s life he’s been changing. It all started with him wanting to spend more time at the internet cafe and when he told me it was because of some girl I knew it would become a problem,” he said.

Nagi had been spending more time at the internet cafe not to play games but because he had wanted to see you? He had noticed you before he had even spoken to you and liked you? If it weren’t for this confrontation with Reo now you’d relish in that fact more.

“How is it a problem? We’re not doing anything wrong,” you said in an effort to defend yourself.

“Maybe not, but Nagi isn’t like other guys, surely you’ve noticed that. He wears his heart on his sleeve and he’s a good guy. I don’t need you hurting him when he’s already changing for you,” he said.

“Changing how?” You said not fully understanding.

“He’s more motivated. Before you I had to do everything for him because he thinks everything is a hassle. He showers after every game now because he knows you’re there waiting for him, he cleans his room because he knows you’re coming over, he does those things he normally wouldn’t wanna do because he has you in mind.”

“Isn’t that a good thing?” You asked.

Reo’s gaze was still sharp.

“Maybe so but if you hurt him I’m worried he’s gonna be worse than before. Before he was just lazy after you hurt him he’ll just be unmotivated and depressed.”

Your heart hurts at the thought.

“I’m not gonna hurt him,” you said quietly.

Reo didn’t seem convinced.

“You and I both know that’s not how relationships work. Eventually you’ll hurt him and when you do I’ll never forgive you.”

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

GodOfSoccer: where did you go after practice? I thought you were gonna wait for me but Reo said you left early :(

You saw the whisper message come through the game server as you loaded up the game to play. You had set your status to offline but Nagi was savvy enough to know when you were online.

SleepyKoala: I didn’t feel good

GodOfSoccer: do you need me to come over? i can take care of you

SleepyKoala: No it’s okay

GodOfSoccer: do you wanna play a few games?

SleepyKoala: I think I just wanna play by myself

GodOfSoccer: oh alright

GodOfSoccer: good luck in your games :)

GodOfSoccer went offline

You sighed as you watched him go offline and you knew you had hurt his feelings despite his good natured response. Nagi was never offline and he wasn’t the type to set his status to offline so you knew he was really not gonna play games tonight which didn’t bode well. You didn’t mean to hurt him, it's just you couldn’t get Reo’s words out of your head. He’d never forgive you if you hurt Nagi? You’d never forgive yourself. He was so good and sweet and pure and Reo was right that relationships were messy. Did you really want to be the one to give Nagi his first heartbreak?

You tried to play a few games but it was futile, the game had grown stale without him.

You logged off and crawled into bed. Soon it began to pour outside and it reflected your inner state.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

The next two weeks were exam season so luckily you had an excuse to not be around Nagi as often.

You stopped going to the internet cafe altogether and instead went to your school’s library to study. These days you only saw Nagi at his games and though he was understanding about it because he knew you had to study you could tell he was sad.

The two of you still texted at night but the conversation grew stale as Nagi wasn’t always the best texter and from your experience with him you knew that comfortable laid back atmosphere of being at peace with him was something text couldn’t capture. Text was made for talking and it forced this dynamic where it felt as if you always had to come up with something to say and often times the best moments with Nagi were just being able to enjoy each other’s presence.

When you got home from school one afternoon you had noticed a bouquet of flowers waiting for you on the porch table.

You had taken the flowers to your room and put them in a vase with water. You got your phone out to text him.

You: Thanks for the flowers

Nagi: you’re welcome. I know you’ve been working hard studying and I wanted you to have something to brighten up your desk.

Your heart fluttered at his thoughtfulness and again you wondered why you were being so distant. You knew it wasn’t fair to him but what Reo said really got to you. You knew he was only looking out for his best friend but you were worried you were really going to be the one to hurt Nagi.

Nagi: I miss you :(

Nagi: Are you coming to my game tomorrow?

You felt overwhelmed by it all. The flowers, his double texting, and all the while you still felt Reo’s disapproving eyes on you as if he were watching you now. Part of you thought maybe it was better to back out of things early on before they got any deeper. Maybe then Nagi wouldn’t be as hurt. It was that rationale that led to your reply:

You: Sorry I can’t. I have to study now more than ever.

Nagi: oh okay

He didn’t say anything more after that.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

When you woke up the next morning you had ten missed calls from an unsaved number. You also had text messages as well. You unlocked your phone in confusion. The messages read:

It’s Reo, are you awake?

Nagi is hurt he got hurt at the game

He’s been crying for you and wants you here

You instantly called the number back.

“Reo what’s wrong? Where are you guys?” You asked, your panic and worry not giving you time to feel weird about calling him.

“We’re headed to a nearby medcenter clinic that's across the school. You can meet us there,” he said then hung up.

You raced outta bed and got dressed quickly. You didn’t bother to eat breakfast as all you could think about was how you hadn’t been there for Nagi. You were so worried and your heart hurt.

The ride on the metro seemed obnoxiously long despite being the same as always. You anxiously tapped your fingers along your thighs the whole way there.

At last you arrived and headed toward the clinic Reo had described. You felt nervous and shy as a nurse directed you to what room Nagi was in when you asked and told her you were his girlfriend.

In front of his door you hesitated a little bit not knowing what to expect. How hurt was Nagi? Would he be upset with you for not being there for him? The only answers you’d get would be through that door.

You pushed the door open slowly.

Nagi was laying down in bed with his right ankle wrapped in med bandages and an ice pack against it. He perked up instantly when he saw you.

“Hey I knew you’d come,” he said. This wasn’t what you expected. He wasn't upset with you at all.

“Reo said you asked for me,” you said, noticing how the room was devoid of any purple.

“I did. I needed my girl,” he said. His words tugged at your heartstrings as you walked closer to the bed so you were right beside him.

“Where is Reo?” You asked.

“He went to get us some food from the cafeteria and call my parents,” he said. You stroked his hair.

“So how bad is it?” You asked.

“Not too bad it’s just a sprained ankle but it hurt like hell when it happened. It should heal quickly,” he said.

You nodded and stopped stroking his hair.

“I’m sorry I wasn’t there when it happened,” you said.

He shrugged but you could tell he was a little downcast even if he didn’t say it.

“It’s okay I know you’ve been busy,” he said. There was an awkward tension in the air that you knew was your doing. You were the one that had been distant lately. You just didn’t want to hurt him but it seems like you already were.

“How long are you gonna be here?” You asked.

“Reo wants me to stay for a few days for some reason since he thinks I won’t take care of it but I told him I have you to take care of me,” he said beaming up at you his smile wavered when you didn’t react and added,”you will take care of me won’t you?”

You wished he hadn’t asked that with his begging gray eyes that looked at you with the eagerness of a puppy.

“Nagi I’m just really busy right now, maybe Reo is right,” you said softly. His face fell.

“Why don’t you wanna be around me anymore? Am I doing something wrong? Am I spending too much time on soccer?” He asked.

“No Nagi it’s not like that-“

“Bullshit. I know you have to study but you always did before and we were able to see each other. I’ve tried to be a good boyfriend and spend time with you by letting you stay over. I just don’t know what I did,” his voice almost broke. You reached for his hands but he pulled them away.

“Nagi, you didn’t do anything. I love being with you and spending time with you,” you said. He looked at you again, his eyes ever so stormy and sad.

“Then tell me the truth,” he pleaded.

You swallowed, you'd tell him the truth but you didn’t want to make Reo look bad after all he was his best friend.

“You remember the morning after I slept over and we went to your practice?” You started reluctantly.

“Yes,” he replied, understandably confused.

“Reo started talking to me and saying this stuff about how he’s scared I’ll hurt you. He told me how you’re already changing for me and taking initiative and doing things you normally wouldn’t like: showering after your games and waking up early to clean your room. He’s worried I’ll break your heart and you’ll be unmotivated and depressed.”

There was silence for about a minute after you told him this. He was the first to break it.

“He really told you I didn’t shower after games before you?” He asked.

“I guess he kinda implied it,” you said wondering why he focused so much on that part.

“Well that’s embarrassing,” he said with a wry smile before adding,”you don’t have to worry about hurting me.” He reached for your hand now and brought it up to his lips to kiss softly.

“Why aren’t you more concerned about this? Reo is right. Relationships are messy and people get hurt and I don’t want to hurt you ever,” you said shivering at how his lips felt against your skin.

“Reo is cynical. Yes people get hurt but I don’t wanna close myself off from you just because something may or may not happen.” He kept your hand laced in his and that’s how the two of you stood until Reo himself walked in a few moments later. He had two trays of sandwiches that he set down and seeing the state the two of you were in he asked: “Am I interrupting?”

“No Reo, I actually wanted to talk to you. Why have you been telling my girlfriend that she’s gonna hurt me?” Nagi asked in a conversational tone.

Reo glanced at you before looking back at Nagi.

“Nagi, you know everything I do is to protect you. I don’t want you getting hurt. You know how the girls at school are,” Reo replied.

You didn’t understand this and looked curiously at Nagi but he ignored you.

“She’s not like that, she's nice to me and sweet and I need the two of you to get along otherwise you’re hurting me both,” he said firmly.

At last you and Reo looked at each other, his last words resonating with both of you so there was no malice or ill will in the others eyes.

A nurse interrupted, coming in and saying she was going to change Nagi’s bandages to freshen them up before he left for the night and you and Reo were ushered into the hallway.

“Thanks for coming,” Reo said genuinely once the door closed behind the two of you.

“You’re welcome. I really care about him,” you said.

“Yeah I can see that,” he said, running a hand through his hair that was loose out of its usual ponytail.

“I didn’t mean to snitch on you or anything like that. I only told Nagi because he was asking why I was being so distant,” you said to him. He nodded in understanding.

“No it’s fine I knew something was up when he was bumming around and blue because you weren’t around all of a sudden. It’s my fault,” he said. Now that he wasn’t looking at you with suspicion he seemed friendly and you could see why he got along with Nagi.

“I know you were just trying to protect him since he’s your best friend,” you said.

“Still I shouldn’t have said anything to you like that or in that way. The last thing I wanted was for Nagi to be sad but I seemed to have caused it by you being distant. I've never seen him so down like that before.” His words made you feel guilty, after all you had only distanced yourself in order to not hurt him.

“What did you mean by that comment about girls at your school?” You asked him.

“Girls at school think Nagi is weird. Well, not just the girls but everyone does. He sticks to himself and he’s not concerned with impressing people the way everyone else is,” he said.

You did know Nagi was a bit odd but he was endearing and now you knew why Reo was so protective of him. He was very attractive as well so you had truly thought he was joking when he had said that girls especially don’t talk to him.

“Reo I wanna be able to get along. I don’t wanna stay away from Nagi because I care about him,” you said, deciding to call for a truce.

“Yeah that sounds good to me. I guess I  judged you unfairly and like Nagi said he wants us to be able to get along. It’s just always been him and me so I have to get used to it,” he said.

You assured him you didn’t wanna ruin his and Nagi’s friendship and that of course they’d still be able to do the things they’ve always done. When the nurse came out of the room you both went back inside to find Nagi playing games on his phone in his typical fashion.

You and Reo smiled at each other both knowing this was a sign he was recovering.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

“I never said thank you,” Nagi said, stopping in his tracks as you both walked in the park.

It had been three weeks since his injury and he had recovered with you by his side. These walks with him had been a form of physical therapy but once he had healed they had stuck around as a routine thing for you two.

“For what?” You asked.

“For accepting being my girlfriend. I had liked you for a long time before I spoke to you and I was always too nervous to do so,” he said. He looked wonderful surrounded by the cherry blossoms of the trail you too were on. It had been his idea to go cherry blossom viewing with you and he had been looking forward to it for weeks even drawing a little blossom on your calendar for this date.

“You’re welcome. Reo had told me about how you had started spending more time at the internet cafe because of me,” you said. A blush the color of the blossoms formed on his cheeks.

“The only downside to you and Reo being friends now is that he tells you all the embarrassing unfiltered things about me,” Nagi said but you could tell it meant a lot to him that you and Reo got along.

In the weeks following Nagi’s injury you had stayed with him at his dorm and took care of him and Reo would come over in the evenings and all three of you would binge watch shows and movies you took turns picking. Of course you and Nagi continued to support Reo by watching him practice and coming to games as well while Nagi was healing.

“I don’t think it’s embarrassing. It’s sweet you like me so much,” you said.

He reached out to cup your face in his hands in the way he was so fond of doing.

“I more than like you,” he said seriously before adding,”I know you were scared of hurting me but the truth is I’m not scared to be hurt if it’s by you. I wanna be with you always.”

Your head was spinning at the way his eyes penetrated into yours.

“I more than like you too,” you said shyly. He looks at you lovingly before leaning in to kiss you.

When he pulls away he looks into your eyes and tells you those three words you had sworn you had heard before you had dozed off to sleep when you had slept over: “I love you.”

This time as he kisses you again even though it feels like it, you know you’re not dreaming.

they who admit defeat . sae itoshi

synopsis: the break-up was mutual, so why do you miss each other so bad?

content: 1.3k wc, ex! itoshi sae, exes to lovers, implied toxic relationship?? fem! reader, pet names (amor, baby), very mild angst with comfort, fluff, shidou cameo (suggestive comments / the usual with him) OOC sae, probably..

riotrants: i thought of this while listening to sleep token’s descending. highly recommend. constructive criticism is welcome!! enjoy!! :)

6 months, 1 week, 4 days, and 7 hours.

what is that oddly specific amount of time, you ask from afar? i’ll answer you; the date you and japan’s prodigal soccer player itoshi sae ended your four year long relationship. arguably the best four years of your life down the drain over an idiotic stunt pulled by the media. the impending break-up was further fueled by the lack of communication. you knew soccer was sae’s career, yet he was never home. he had slowly begun to wean off quality time with you, and it was taking a harsher effect on you than you’d thought. eventually, you grew restless. your boyfriend felt like a stranger.

after a few weeks of absence, sae was the one who ended things, and you had to admit, he’d done it rather maturely. he sat you down after a game and talked to you. all of your questions had answers—as if he’d preplanned for every possible outcome (he did)—and there were no loose ends to tie up. you didn’t argue.

you understood and agreed. you knew what you were getting into when you first started dating him. little to no personal time with him, insane public attention, lack of privacy, high expectations from his crew / teammates, the list was endless. to most, it would be too overwhelming, but sae made sure you never felt the pressure of all the negative energy. he handled the media—smoothly brushing off any prying interviewers about his relationship, debunked rumors and proved edited photographs were false. his team adored you, especially ryusei shidou, who jokingly asked if he could be your rebound. the break-up was mutual, so why were you still so hung up on it?

now, here you sat in the loud arena, your gaze focused on the field below. you still had access to vip seating, according to sae, but you didn’t take advantage of that. you bought your own tickets to the games and sat among the crowd, occasionally lying to a fan who asked if you were sae’s girlfriend. it pained you to say no, wanting nothing more than to confirm your association with him. yet you respected his wishes and pretended you never knew him.

you stood when the horn blared loudly, signaling yet another win for sae and his team. he still played flawlessly, though you hadn’t expected him to perform any differently. you shifted through the thunderous crowd, arriving to the small exit door hidden behind the food court. routine still begged for you to turn around, to wait for him in front of the locker room as you once did. you’d greet him with open arms, and he’d melt into them with a middle finger to his cooing teammates. shidou tended to join the two of you, wrapping his sweaty form around you both playfully. “awwwww, baby!” he’d squeeze and shake you back and forth, cackles leaving his lips when sae sighed exasperatedly.

you miss him.

you shook your head, pushing through the door to walk to the parking garage. before you could take another step, a gentle hand landed on your wrist. you recognized the fabric of his gloves, turning your head curiously. sae stood there, his turquoise eyes laden with emotions you couldn’t decipher. “itoshi—“

“don’t do that,” he muttered, sliding his hand from your wrist to linger limply at his side, “i’m not a stranger.” you didn’t know what to do. you twisted the skin around your ring finger, feeling the soft divot from the promise ring that used to live there. your hands felt empty without it, something you had yet to get used to. an awkward silence settled between the two of you, warm gazes flicking over each other’s faces in fear of being the last time they’d see it. “you played well,” you winced at the quiet, and sae let out an amused scoff.

he wants you back. terribly so.

he misses coming home to a warm embrace. your smiling face as you excitedly talk about your day, the sporadic phone calls he’d get when something happened (no matter how important or temporary), the way you would prepare him a warm bath if he’d had a rough day at practice. the shining light in your eyes when you showed everyone the promise ring he surprised you with, matching with the one he still wore on a chain under his jersey.

you. he misses you. yet, he couldn’t help but feel guilty. he had no right to miss you, especially since he was the leading cause for the break-up. so, he kept silent.

a few more weeks passed, and shidou was growing irritated with you both. sae would hardly react to his outrageous comments, you were slowly inching back into the shell he’d just gotten you out of, and he had had enough. “okay! i’ve had it,” he slammed his hands on the table, death glaring sae. his pink eyes bore holes into the prodigy’s face, “go to y/n’s place with a bouquet, fall on your knees and press your gorgeous face on the ground. beg, plead, cry and whine for her to take you back. when she does, take her to the bedroom and show her who is—!”

shidou grunted when a notebook flew at his face, sighing happily as he sunk back into his seat, “that’s the first reaction i’ve gotten out of ya in days. you’re such a tease.” sae rolled his eyes, his usual nonchalant expression fading slightly. “yer both drivin’ me insanee!” he dragged his hands down his face, ignoring the unamused look sae was shooting him, “go get your girl, man.”

sae was about to crawl through the dirt back to you, but he had no idea you were already on the ground waiting for him.

you were in the middle of cooking dinner when a knock sounded on your door, the television displaying a random film you’d turned on. you turned the heat of the stove down, still wearing your apron as you went to the small entryway of your apartment. you opened it, and your brows knit together at the sight of sae standing there with a bouquet. “sae?” you asked, confusion written all over you. you invited him inside, and he graciously accepted the offer.

after settling the flowers in a vase, you both sat on opposite ends of the sofa. “i miss you,” he whispered, and you felt warmth rush to your face when he moved closer, “i-i should have never let you go. i’m so stupid for—“ his eyes widened when you closed the distance, pressing your lips softly against his. he didn’t complain, reaching his hands up to hold your head. his fingers nestled themselves in your hair, savoring the sweet flavor of your kiss. you pulled away with a shy grin, “i was waiting for you to say that..”

sae kissed you again, finding your hand and holding it close. you gasped when cold metal slid smoothly onto your empty ring finger, pulling away and immediately focusing your gaze on it. the promise ring you’d returned to him sits comfortably in its proper spot. sae’s lips were curled into a gentle smile, his chest warm and heavy with love for you. love that never went away, even after so long without you.

“mi amor,” he breathed, and you embraced him at the utterance of the pet name you adored. in the midst of your intimate moment, sae’s phone rang obnoxiously. you laid your head on his shoulder as he checked the caller, both of you sharing a laugh at shidou’s horrid profile picture. he answered, and the blonde man grinned wickedly, “so, throuple?” sae hung up as quickly as he answered, silencing his phone and tossing it to the side. he slid you in his lap, kissing your head as an unpleasant burnt smell wafted through the room. “baby, what’s that?” he asked quietly.

“was dinner,” you replied, “wanna get takeout?”

sae cracked a smirk, “sure. i’ll pay.”

yeah, he’s never letting you go again. in fact, he thinks he’ll take you with him everywhere.

Hide The Scissors- S. JY

“I know you like it long, babe, but it’s poking me in the eyes. You have to cut it for me.”

Your heart feels as if it’s been stabbed and shattered as your boyfriend sits with his back to your stomach, locking eyes with you through the bathroom mirror while he sits on a stool. You drape a towel over his shoulders with a pout on your lips, obviously unhappy with the idea of cutting his hair. “You’re breaking my heart, Jae.”

He only laughs at your dramatic attempts to change his mind. Realizing you have failed, you give in and finally open the bathroom cabinet to grab the styling scissors with a deep exhaled sigh. “I’m just saying, you look so good with longer hair.” You notice Jake pause for a moment as a light blush makes its way to his cheeks while the tips of his ears burn red.

“You think so?” His eyes meet yours in the mirror and you flash him a sweet smile. “Of course, handsome.” You don’t break eye contact as you lean down to kiss the spot right under his ear, trailing more kisses down the expanse of his neck. “You look so sexy.” You whisper in his ear and watch how he immediately stiffens.

“Love how it suits your features so well.” He blushes deeper at this compliment. “Love the way it shapes your face.” You peck him on his cheek. “Love the way it’s so full and fluffy.” You run a hand through the long hair on the back of his head. “But you know what I love about it the most?” You meet his gaze in the mirror again and he lets out a hum in response.

“Love the way you whine when I pull on it.” With that, your grip on his hair pulls his head to fall back, with him looking up at you for a second before you’re leaning down to kiss him. He always expresses his love for kissing upside down, his inner fanboy showing as he would rant about it reminding him of Spider-Man.

You tug at his hair harder and his lips fall open as he whines into your own. You take this chance to slip your tongue into his mouth and he eagerly reciprocates the action. He loves how the odd angle lets him feel the way the mix of saliva easily slides down his throat as the kiss grows sloppier. You pull back from his lips with an obnoxious smack and smile at the way his eyes are already low and dazed.

He swallows harshly as he lets his gaze fall back to your mouth. You can’t help but peck his pillowy lips again. “Fine.” He whispers almost shyly. “Fine?” You repeat with a sly smile. “Yeah…fine. You don’t have to cut my hair.” He blinks at you with big puppy eyes, almost begging for your reaction.

“Why the sudden change of heart, baby?” You quirk a brow in question as he tugs the towel off of his shoulders and stands to his feet, turning to face you. “I like when you pull on it too.” He grabs your waist and harshly presses his lips against yours again, both of his hands sliding down to grab handfuls of your butt.

You gasp when he squeezes harshly, and he slips his tongue into your mouth the way you had done it earlier. He kneads the fat of your butt, groping and massaging anything he could fit into his hands. You instinctively push yourself further into him and you don’t miss the way he’s rock hard against you.

“Jump.” He commands against your parted lips, tapping the back of your thighs. You hop into his arms, wrapping your own around his neck to play with his hair. He turns around again, this time placing you onto the large bathroom sink with your back pressed against the mirror.

You feel him tug your lower half towards himself, standing between your open legs. He leans back down to kiss you again, this time with one hand around the back of your neck and the other softly rubbing your thigh. “Want you to show me how much you love my hair.” He grinds himself into your core and grunts into your neck after he speaks, then bites his bottom lip harshly to keep himself from whining into your ear.

The feeling of his hot break against your neck has you pulling him closer by the hips, but he’s quick to pull your hands away. He takes them both in one of his larger hands, pinning them to the mirror above your head. His other hand is pushing your skirt further up your waist and he smiles at the wet spot on your panties.

You grind against nothing, pushing your hips forward with a whine when he takes too long staring between your legs. “God, you’re so fucking needy.” He lightly slaps your core, smiling at the wet sound that follows. “You’re one to talk.” You spit out, almost annoyed that he’s taking so long to touch you.

He doesn’t find any purpose in arguing back, instead being proud of not only himself but of you also. “Of course.” He lowers himself to have his salivating mouth just above where you need him. “Who wouldn’t be needy for this cunt.” He almost cuts himself off, too eager to taste you as he licks you over your panties, tongue starting at your entrance but stopping just before your clit.

You whine and push your hips forward again, this time yelping as he suddenly attaches his lips to your soaking underwear, sucking your slick out of the wet fabric. “Please, Jake. I need more.” Your hands are still being painfully restricted against the mirror, Jake’s own hand not budging no matter how much yours thrash in his hold.

He finally rips your panties off and you gasp at the sound of them tearing. “Jake!” You look at him with wide eyes and he grabs your cheeks, squeezing them so your lips become pouty. “Do you want it or not?” He’s speaking close enough to you that you feel his hot breath on your inner thighs, but not close enough for it to please you. “Yes! Yes, stop being a brat.” You nod your head aggressively, pushing your hips against his face again.

Your insult ignites something inside of him, and he’s suddenly leaning back down to harshly suck on your clit. “A-ah!” You yelp in surprise, thrashing your arms against the mirror in frustration. He finally lets go of your hands, leading them to his hair as he’s pulling off of your clit to speak in your ear.

“Show me how much you like my hair, baby.” He dives into your core again, slurping loudly at the dripping arousal. You throw your head back against the mirror in a loud moan, harshly gripping at Jake’s hair which elicits a whine escape his throat. He looks up at you with low, fucked out eyes and he moans as if he’s the one being pleasured.

His tongue laps at your entrance a few times before licking a long stripe up your slit, taking your clit between his lips and sucking gently, unlike the first time. “Fuck, Jae. T-tongue.” Without hesitating, he sticks his tongue out at your stuttered command and you grab handfuls of his thick hair, keeping his head stable as you grind yourself onto his wet muscle.

The bathroom walls send echos of each moan, slurp, and whine the both of you let out, and you wondered if you were loud enough for the neighbors to hear. You want the neighbors to hear, and you want them to know who you’re whining and crying for, loving the idea of showing off how good your boyfriend treats you.

“Baby-baby, holy shit.” You’re borderline screaming at this point as Jake watches you with big, glossy puppy eyes, and the sight of him is enough to bring you to your orgasm. “Fuckfuckfuck, Jake!” You inhale deeply before letting out the most loud and obnoxious pornographic-sounding moan while your orgasm sends tingles throughout your whole body, strongly throbbing in your core.

You keep a tight grip on your boyfriend’s hair, pulling it harshly as you continue to rock your hips against his tongue, and he whimpers at the feeling of you continuing to use him for your own pleasure. He loves letting you take control, like you’re almost ignoring the fact that he’s another human being but only using him as a toy to get yourself off with.

His hair is finally released from your fingers when they come to support you on the sides of your body, keeping your trembling body upright on the bathroom sink. He goes back to standing normal for a second, then leans forward to kiss you with his mouth covered in your juices. He places one hand over yours on the counter, stroking your skin as a sign of comfort, while the other hand holds your face and pulls your forehead to touch his.

“God, look at you.” He softly nudges your face to turn around and take a look at yourself in the mirror behind you. Your eyes are hazy and your hair is slightly tangled in the back, and you hadn’t even realized you were drooling until you seen the streak from your lip sliding down your chin. Your eyes travel to look at Jake, heart melting when you see just how adorable he appears. “God, look at you, Jae.”

The whole lower half of his face, including his cheeks, are covered in arousal, shining especially bright on the tip of his prominent nose. His cheeks and nose are also flushed with a deep blush, maybe from the sexual encounter, maybe from his lack of breathing during said encounter. His own hair is messier than yours, with his bangs falling Infront of his eyes, frizzy strands standing up everywhere, and the long hairs in the back look as if he woke up from a nap or was electrocuted.

“Holy-“ Jake cuts himself off as he starts giggling cutely, leaning against the counter and trying his best to fix his appearance. You join in on giggling with him and fixing yourself up, admiring the way he switches from a pussy-starved fiend to a sweet mess of toothy smiles and giggles. Your boyfriend may be secretly desperate for a mouth full of woman, but that’s just how you like it. He licks his palm and tries his best to slick down his disheveled hair, but your fingers had done too much damage and he now resembles a raccoon that had been struck by lightning.

“Guess you really do love my hair, huh?”

that wasn’t what it sounded like!

synopsis: you accidentally hear them say they don't like you.

characters: kuroo, suna

warnings: this was written back in 2020 and i decided to repost it so yea, be warned ig, angst to fluff!

That Wasn’t What It Sounded Like!

kuroo:

with a sigh, you tried mustering up all the confidence you can as you trudged towards the gym.

‘this is the day.’ you thought to yourself. you were finally going to confess to kuroo. after having numerous debates with your mind, you finally came to the decision to confess.

your heartbeat quickened at the numerous scenarios you were thinking, most of them being rejection.

the worst thing that can happen is rejection, right?

you couldn’t help but fall for kuroo, how could you not? he was funny, smart, and being handsome was a nice plus. you already knew that it would be hard to just tell him about your feelings, especially knowing that he probably only viewed you as a friend.

once you arrived by the gym, you took a deep breath before going in with a smile, waving to kenma who acknowledged you by looking up from his game.

“uh.. have you seen kuroo?” you sheepishly asked kenma who looked at you curiously before nodding to the locker room.

“hey, (y/n)?” kenma called out. “yeah?”

“goodluck.” your eyes widened as he gave you a small smile.

you sometimes hated how perceptive kenma is despite his nonchalant behavior. with a determined nod, you walked towards the locker room, hoping to see kuroo walk out from the door.

when you were at a near distance from the door, you hear a bunch of chatter. you didn’t mean to eavesdrop, but you perked your head when you heard your name come out from a voice you recognized as yaku’s.

“man, kuroo. you’re lucky! you have (y/n) crushing on you.” a smack was heard after, kuroo groaning in pain followed afterward.

your heartbeat quickened when you heard the captain laugh in response.

“come on, yakkun. (y/n) and i are just friends!” for now. “eh?! seriously? you don’t like her in that way?” you scoot a bit closer to the door, wanting to hear his answer before you take the leap.

“don’t be ridiculous, yakkun. we’re friends, and that’s it.” your heart dropped at his words.

you were so caught up in evaluating kuroo’s answer that you didn’t realize the door to the locker room opened. “oh, (y/n)? what’re you doing here?” the chatter in the locker room evidently stopped. you blinked, trying to keep tears at bay.

you looked up to kai who looked at you with a kind expression. “ah, our professor told me to give this to tet- kuroo-san.” you say, giving him a folder. “i have to go, please give this to him for me. thank you, kai!” you say before running off, passing by the freshmen who gave you a wave of excitement. you couldn’t find it in yourself to smile back as you ran from the gym.

once you were at a safe place, you let the tears fall free. you didn’t know why you were crying.

‘you didn’t even confess, for crying out loud! so why are you sad?’ you thought to yourself, laughing as you wiped your eyes.

you felt pathetic for ever thinking that kuroo would ever look at you that way. you were friends. he specified so clearly to one of his closest friends. that was all the confirmation you needed.

you knew you had to distance yourself on the following days. knowing that if you don’t you’ll fall even deeper and get hurt.

and you were tired of getting hurt.

That Wasn’t What It Sounded Like!

“oi, chibi. why did the picture go to jail?” kuroo asked when the class was about to end. you took a while to answer him, you only answered when you felt him poke his pen by your cheek. “oi.” “i don’t know, kuroo. why?” kuroo could almost shiver at the tone you used, but he thinks it may just be a bad day. maybe his jokes could make it better? it always did.

“because it was framed.” not wanting to ignore him, but not wanting to indulge him either you give him a short laugh that can be mistaken as a breath.

“was it not funny?” “it was.”

kuroo was silent for a few seconds before asking you with a small nudge from his elbow.

“are you okay?” “mhm.” you realized that that answer was too curt, something that would possibly make him suspicious. and you didn’t want that.

“i just need to listen to this lesson, this is very confusing.” you follow up quickly, taking down notes just to not look suspicious.

“you know i could always tutor you, right?” kuroo said, a reassuring tone lacing his voice. you turn to give him a small nod and smile. “i know.” but i’d like to not be with you unless necessary. “thank you.”

kuroo furrowed his eyebrows, clearly he knew something was wrong. but before he could ask, the bell rang and you immediately went out of the room. not even giving kuroo his usual goodbye.

something was definitely wrong.

“(y/n’s) acting weird.” kuroo couldn’t help but mention when they were on the train home. “eh?” kenma kept clicking on his console, listening intently as his childhood friend rant on about you.

“and then suddenly they turned cold! i don’t remember doing anything to make them mad.” kuroo was frustrated to say the least, he knew that your friendship was going well, so of course he would be confused as to why you suddenly gave him the cold shoulder.

“i mean… did you reject them?” kenma asked, eyes still on his console. kuroo furrowed his eyebrows at his friend. “reject them? what?”

kenma paused the game and looked up to kuroo.

“so, they didn’t confess?” kuroo shook his head in response to kenma’s question. kenma sighed, “i think i know what’s going on.”

“well, don’t keep it to yourself, kenma. tell me.” kuroo urged.

“they heard you say you don’t like them.” kenma said, unpausing his game. “well, that’s only my thoughts. i wouldn’t know.”

now that kuroo thought about it, when he told yaku he only saw you as a friend, the door of the locker room opened to reveal you, who gave kai a document that was meant for him before running off.

kuroo should’ve known you’ve heard. because no matter how busy you were, you would always wish him good luck on his practices and give him a corny joke to keep him motivated.

“fuck.” kuroo muttered, placing his hands by his eyes and tilting his head back on the window of the train, groaning from frustration.

there was a small pause of silence, only the clicking of kenma’s console was heard before the underclassman spoke.

“what do you plan on doing now?”

That Wasn’t What It Sounded Like!

“hey, we need to talk.” kuroo cornered you by the locker, you shut the metal door lightly before giving him an apology.

“i’m really needed for the next class.” at this point, you weren’t even trying to hide the sheer fact that you were avoiding him.

“we’re in the same class, and we both know the teacher wouldn’t show up until half the hour passes. try again, (y/n).”

“i just don’t want to talk to you.” you say straight up, not even trying to put a filter and kuroo felt his heart clench painfully at your tone.

“too bad. you don’t have a choice.” without a word, he grabbed your hand and pulled you away to a vacant classroom.

“why have you been avoiding me.” kuroo knows the answer to his question, but he didn’t want to get ahead of himself.

“i was busy, can i go now. please?” you say as curt as possible, not wanting to melt under his gaze. not wanting to break whatever resolve you have built up from the past few days you ignored him.

“i’m not buying it.” kuroo says, crossing his arms and eyeing you down. you knew that you wouldn’t be able to keep up the tough act if you stayed there.

“you’re so unfair, kuroo.” you couldn’t help but whisper. kuroo’s posture immediately straightened.

“i’m unfair?” kuroo asked with an amused grin on his face. “i don’t think i’m the one who ignored someone for days for no apparent reason.” you looked down at his words, knowing he has the upperhand. just why did you think you could escape him?

“i’m not the one who made someone think that they did something wrong.” you didn’t realize that he was getting closer, not until you saw his shoes in front of you and felt his hands on your chin, making you look up to him.

“i’m the one who was deprived of a confession from the person i like, don’t you think it’s unfair for me?” your eyes widened for a few milliseconds before you pushed him away.

“stop messing around, kuroo.” your voice cracked. “just let me move on. and i promise i’ll be back to normal.” you both know that was an empty promise. if kuroo didn’t corner you, then you would’ve completely tried to eradicate him from your life. but kuroo couldn’t have that.

now that he knew you liked him back, how could he let this chance go to waste.

“you think i’ll let you go when i finally have an opportunity to pursue you?” your throat went dry.

“kuroo... stop. you don’t need to pretend, i heard what you said to yaku. it’s fine, really.” at this point, you wanted to get out as soon as possible. you knew you were going to break down if this keeps on going.

“(y/n), please. believe me. i truly do like you back.” you felt tears prick your eyes. this was some sick joke kuroo was playing at.

kuroo panicked, seeing tears well up in your eyes before you blinked it away.

“but i-” “yes. i know that i said those words that day, but it was to shut yakkun up… and to hide my own feelings.” kuroo said the last part quietly. if he weren’t holding you, you probably wouldn’t have heard.

he lets go of your chin before sighing. “i’ve been in love with you for so long, i didn’t know how to deal with it so i kept denying it. i didn’t tell yaku the truth because i didn’t need him to make fun of me because i couldn’t get the person i wanted.” kuroo let it out, you were shocked.

he felt the same way?

“kuroo…?” “(y/n). i’m sorry, but i can’t let you go. especially now when i know i have a chance. so please.” unbeknownst to the both of you, your heartbeats were almost identical on how fast it paced.

“i...” you started. not knowing the right words to say.

“i think we should… take things slow.” you look at him, giving him the smallest of smiles you can muster. “if that’s okay with you?”

kuroo couldn’t find it in himself to suppress the wide smile that was plastered on his face. without another word, he pulled you to his chest. his laugh rang out the empty classroom.

“god. i didn’t want to confess this way… but here we are.” kuroo pulled away and laughed.

“don’t break my heart, kuroo.” you warned lightheartedly. he gave you a smile that was laced with all the adoration he felt for you before pecking raising your hand to his lips and kissing your knuckles.

“i wouldn’t dream of it.”

That Wasn’t What It Sounded Like!

suna:

the whistle was blown, signaling the end of their practice. you smiled in encouragement to the members who looked like they’ve gone through hell and back. from the intensity of their training, you would probably believe so.

“nice work.” you say, handing atsumu his water bottle. the setter gave you a pat on the head before gesturing to suna who was wiping his sweat with a towel. “go talk to ‘yer loverboy.”

you rolled your eyes at his statement, but walked towards the middle blocker anyway.

“nice work out there, rin!” you smile, giving him the water bottle that you prepared. of course, it was your own water bottle with the liquid infused with citrus. you thought about putting it in his, but then again, the water bottles were identical and someone else might drink it.

“(y/n)~ why does suna get special treatment?” akagi whined. your eyes widened, not knowing that the libero was watching your interactions.

“i want manager-san’s special treatment too!” ginjima whined as well, your face heat up at the sudden attention before the coach blew the whistle once more.

“seems like break is over, be back later, (y/n).” suna stated, giving you back your water bottle and a quick pat on the head. your face heated up with the contact.

“yeah.” you were in a daze, staring at suna’s figure as he went back to court.

“‘yer staring, manager-san.” kita’s straightforward voice cut off your thoughts. “huh? what?”

a smirk formed on kita’s face. “be careful, (y/n). ‘yer not being as cautious as before.”

“what did you mean before? kita-san. i-” “liked our middle blocker since before you were our manager? i’m well aware.” if you and kita weren’t close, you would be scared on how he managed to catch on quickly with your stupid crush. “i’m right, aren’t i?”

“i sometimes hate you, kita.” a scoff was heard from the bicolored male. “sure you do.”

you and the captain went on with your banter. occasionally noting down some of the notable movements the team did in their practice.

when the whistle was blown, that was then you realized that you have forgotten to fill up the water bottles once more. with a quick bow, you ran outside to fill it up with refreshing cold water. once done, you struggled to carry the weight of several bottles at once.

“when do you plan on confessing to (y/n), suna?” you stopped in your tracks as you hear atsumu’s voice reverberate from the other side of the wall.

“what are you talking about?” suna retaliated, voice deadpanned as usual. “come on, suna. don’t think we don’t see the way (y/n) has heart eyes for you.” you almost dropped the water bottles in your hands. your heart beat quick, realizing that suna was well aware of your crush on him.

“so?” the same deadpanned voice answered. you felt saddened at the lack of emotion in his tone. “what do you plan to do if they tell you?”

you weren’t prepared for his answer, you didn’t want to know.

“i don’t know what you want me to say, i don’t like (y/n) that way.” fuck.

at this point, your throat felt clogged and tears were forming in your eyes. you always knew that you should have never let this small crush turn into something more, now you were here. feeling sad just because of your hopeless crush on the team’s middle blocker.

you didn’t realize that you dropped a water bottle, when you looked down, you saw lemon slices floating around the water. as if it were mocking you.

you sigh, picking it up. ‘one last time.’ you thought to yourself before entering the gym, pretending you didn’t just get your heart broken.

That Wasn’t What It Sounded Like!

“no lemons this time?” suna asked as you gave him his water bottle. “didn’t find any.” you say as curt as possible before attending to the other members of the team to which the others found odd.

since when was he the first one you tended to? usually you always placed him as last so you could talk to him more. maybe you just forgot? did something happen?

either way, the team was in confusion with your sudden shift in attitude. especially suna, who has gotten used to your daily banter every training.

the middle blocker shrugged it off before taking a sip of the plain water. maybe you just weren’t in the mood today? who knows.

it wasn’t only today, but the next few days. suna began noticing how his interactions with you have drastically decreased, he never took notice of how much he actually craved your presence until you stopped giving him attention and began treating him like how you treat the twins.

well, there wasn’t anything wrong with the way you treated the twins, but he thought he was special. he knows he was special, maybe that’s why he thought that you might have possibly liked him back. but why did you suddenly drift away from him?

suna doesn’t remember anything that he could have possibly done for you to stray away from him.

“good work.” “are we okay?” suna suddenly asked you, who was giving out his water bottle as per usual. “of course.” you say before plopping the bottle on his hand and moving on to the next member.

“relationship problems?” osamu teased as he went beside suna, sipping on his own water bottle. “shut it, miya.”

That Wasn’t What It Sounded Like!

the middle blocker hated this. he hated how all of a sudden you pretended as if the both of you were only club mates and nothing else.

but isn’t that what you were? you weren’t obligated to keep him company during breaks and talk about your guys’ days and plans. so why was he so bothered that you weren’t beside him?

suna had a thought, but he immediately crossed it off his mind because he knows it’s impossible.

suna likes you, and you moved away even before he could act on it.

“good wo-” “can we talk?” suna cut you off. you raised an eyebrow at him before trying to give him his water bottle.

“i’m not taking that.” he huffed, before continuing. “give the others theirs first then get back to me. just like before.” startled, you wordlessly nodded before giving the rest of the members their water bottles.

once you were done, you felt suna pull your wrist and dragged you outside. a knowing smirk invaded the twins’ faces as they saw the both of you leave.

“suna-” “what is your problem?” your eyes widened at the sharp tone that suna gave you.

“i have no idea what you mean.” “why have you been getting distant lately?” “i was busy, suna”

suna looked at you, knowing he isn’t buying a single word you say. he wanted to cringe at the way you called him by his last name, but he couldn’t afford to lose his composure.

“we both know that’s absolute bullshit, (y/n).” you narrowed your eyes at his response.

“why does it matter, suna?” you bit back,  having been fed up with this conversation. “i just want to know what i did that made you act weird around me.”

you tense up, not knowing what to say next. you knew it was unfair to make suna feel as if he did something wrong, but you knew the more you acted upon your feelings, the more you won’t be able to move on. so with a deep breath you braced yourself for your next words.

“you did nothing, suna.” you gave him a small smile. “that is just me trying to move on. so please, give me some time.”

suna blinked. was that a confession? he couldn’t register it fast enough before he tightened his grip on your wrist.

“(y/n)... what do you mean?” “i don’t want to repeat myself, suna.” you say, gently trying to take your wrist from him.

“you like me back.” suna says, more to himself than to you. you gave him a look of disbelief. “don’t be ridiculous.”

“no, (y/n). you like me back.” a small smirk was plastered on his face, you felt your face heat up.

“i did.” you could barely see the way his smirk faltered. “did?”

you sigh, wanting to get this over with.

“i heard you say to the twins that you don’t like me in that way. and it made me realize that maybe i’ve been reading the signs wrong and you only like me as a friend.” you explain, effectively pulling away your wrist the moment he faltered in his grip.

“no hard feelings, suna. i just need time to move on, and since we’re here now. can you please tell me to move on? just so i can have the closure i need.” you say.

unbeknownst to you, suna only said that so the twins would leave him alone. he’s always liked you, even before you were their manager. and when you suddenly gave him special treatment, he felt as if you returned his feelings.

now that he knows you like him back, the twins be damned. he can’t let you go.

“be with me?” “did you not hear what i said? i said i’m trying to move o-” “no.”

suna said, taking a step closer to you. “i said i didn’t like you that way because i didn’t want the twins knowing and potentially ruining my chance with you because we both know they’d never shut up.” suna started.

“i didn’t confess because i didn’t want to assume that you liked me the way i liked you. but god, whenever you strut in the gym and give me your stupid hello kitty bottle filled with lemon water. i couldn’t help but assume.” you make a face. “my hello kitty bottle is not stupid, rin.”

suna smiled at the returned nickname. “and you didn’t assume. i really do like you back.”

“so...” suna trailed off. “so…?”

“do you want to go out with me, after training?” suna didn’t know where the courage came from, before he could shy away from his question. you gave him a smile, a small blush on your face.

“i.. i’d love to.”

“and will you bring back the lemon water. i miss the stupid hello kitty bottle.” he was hit by the arm as you pouted. “once again, my hello kitty bottle is not stupid, rin.”

suna smiled before placing a hand on your head.

“sure, (y/n).”

“(y/n), truth or dare.” baji smirked as the bottle pointed to you. you rolled your eyes at the sinister look baji was giving you before nodding. “truth.”

“pussy.” “just ask the question.” baji hummed in thought before letting out a wolfish grin.

“do you like someone right now? like a crush.” you weren’t fazed, you knew that having baji as a best friend would lead to being asked this question. baji’s always been invasive with asking and you never once minded. but now that said person you liked was in the vicinity, you couldn’t help but look away and nod.

“eh?! who?” chifuyu couldn’t help but prod for details. “a friend.” you respond curtly, not knowing that mikey’s big black eyes were staring right through you, awaiting for your answer.

“a friend?!” chifuyu parroted. you nod once, not indulging more into the conversation, but toman wasn’t done yet.

“who?” you roll your eyes “if you want to know, you have to wait for the bottle to point to me again.” you say as you reach for the bottle, giving it a spin.

you hear the groans of the group reverberate in the room, but stop once the bottle lands on poor takemichi who hesitantly chose dare.

the dare he had to do was promised to never be retold.

all through the night, the bottle never landed on you once more, keeping your secret crush intact and their curiosities peaked.

12:07am — Sano Manjiro

“why do you need to talk to me, baji?” you asked as baji pulls you over to the side, baji looked at you a bit worriedly before he heaves out a sigh.

“(y/n)...” “what?” you were so confused at this point. you had no idea what baji was thinking nor do you have any idea what he wanted to talk about.

“about this… friend that you like.” you tilt your head to the side, still confused as you gestured for him to keep going.

“are you sure you’d want to tell him how you feel?” “what?”

“don’t make me say it.” “keisuke, i am genuinely really confused right now. just tell me.”

“i don’t like you that way.”

“huh?”

baji sighs out, as if he were explaining to a child. “look… i know we’re close, and that we’re considered best friends but you need to realize that i only see you as that. nothing more, nothing less.” “kei–” “like, bro, i know i’m attractive. but i can’t recipro–” “keisuke–” “–cate your feelings, it wouldn’t be fair…” “baji, that’s no–” “look, i know you can find someone else, someone actually deserving of your love, but that’s just not me… so i’m so sor–” you cut him off with a slap to his cheek.

he looked at you, scandalized, as if you murdered his first born. he looked at you as if he were asking what the fuck was that? and you raised a brow at him.

“and where did you even get the disgusting rumor that i’m in love with you?”

“you’re not?” “gross.” “hey!” baji cleared his throat. “but didn’t you say that you liked a friend?”

“keisuke… you’re not the only friend i have.” you deadpanned, internally scoffing at the audacity he had.

“if it isn’t me, then who?” “none of your business.”

“(y/n), you don’t need to hide what you feel, but just know i can’t return those feelings. you don’t need to lie but i think it would be better for me to tell you strai–” “keisuke, shut the fuck up.”

you rubbed your temples, feeling a headache coming up at the baseless confidence that was budding in your best friend.

“i like mikey. okay? now stop it with the assumptions, you’re giving me the shivers.” “mikey?!” baji’s jaw dropped, “as in, sano manjiro? the leader of toman? my childhood best friend? that mikey?!” you roll your eyes at his dramatics before nodding and vocalizing an exasperated yes.

“now will you shut the fuck up and stop?” baji nods, before a terrifying smirk enters his features, before you could even question him about it, he spoke in a loud voice, obviously talking to someone besides you.

“aww. i wanted to keep up the charade longer, but i guess there’s no point in overthinking.” you were about to call him crazy.

“i told you she likes you back, mikey.”

your eyes widened as you fling your head back, jaw dropping at the sight of the fearsome toman leader with red cheeks adorning his normally soft features.

“wha– how– keisuke–!” a firm pat on your shoulder was placed before baji walked away, nudging mikey on the side and slapping the back of his head, hearing him bid the leader good luck before leaving.

the silence was suffocating. it would be so laughable that the usually loud sano manjiro was reduced to a quiet, blushing, idiot.

“so–” you cursed at the crack in your voice. “uh…”

“you like me, huh?” you gulped, feeling your face burn, his lips twitch into a smile as he realizes that your silence means yes. and all the blonde wants to do is kiss you silly. but he needed to milk this out.

it wasn’t everyday that the sano manjiro has his feelings reciprocated, but what would he know? he’s only had his eyes set on you from the very beginning.

“hm? why can’t you answer me, (n/n)-chin.” you didn’t even realize that mikey was already right in front of you, a smirk on his face as his fingers were under your chin, forcing you to look up at him.

“ne, (n/n)-chin, do you like me?” you remained mute, willing your racing heart to calm down. but knowing that you were not about to let yourself be embarrassed by his teasing, you took a step forward, catching him off guard.

“eh? but what about you, i did hear baji saying that you liked me back.” you gave him a sickly sweet smile.

at this point, it was a battle of who would cave in first. you knew that you would win, because if there was anything to know about mikey, is that he stakes his claim the first opportunity given.

“i do.” he gives no hesitation as he pulls you closer, foreheads touching as he whispers out, smile still on his face now.

“you’re mine now. (y/n).” as he dips you down and presses a peck on your pouty lips.

you pull away, as if he had cooties before pushing him away. mikey was hurt, but before he could express it, you pushed him on the wall behind him, a smile on your face.

“you’ve got it all wrong, sano manjiro.” you purred sweetly, hands cupping his cheeks before you placed a deep peck on his lips, smirking at the way he chased after your lips after you pull away.

“you’re mine now, manjiro.” you say before he pulls you back to his lips, twin smiles on your faces as you pull him closer.

sano manjiro was undefeated, everyone knows that. he’s the boss. he’s always on top, but damn, he doesn’t mind being under your control.

"The more you stare, the more obvious it is." Seunghan informs the older boy, patting his shoulder when some of the SM workers were calling him to get his makeup done. Wonbin nods his head, acknowledging the statement while trying to calm his racing heart. This was going to be for a while.

Maybe, just maybe wonbin liked you. Wait, no he didnt. You were his makeup artist, his co-worker in a sense. He was an idol, with girls gawking at him every hour of the day. He shouldnt fall for someone thats just patting his face. Not when that person is inches away from his lips, their breath fanning wonbins face, making him want to melt on the spot. Fuck, that doesnt help him out.

He awkwardly sits in his seat, spinning around his chair as he waits for your presence. Where were you? You needed to be the one who does his makeup, he looks so much prettier. "Incoming!!" He hears your voice, batting his head to your direction as you struggle to carry your products.

He bolts over in a flash, which surprises you, since he was mostly quiet, frozen like a rock. "Thank you, and sorry." You couldnt help but laugh, wiping some sweat from your brow as wonbin carefully puts the products on the small table in front of him, before sitting back in his seat.

"How are you?" You try to make conversation but deep down you knew it was pointless. Wonbin was always so alive around the members, but whenever hes with you hes cold, quiet. You wanted to break that barrier, make a new friend.. but he wasnt helping.

"Okay," he hums, you nod your head, opening one of the containers and grabbing a brush. "H-how are you?" He replies, a light stutter. You eyes widen, "oh im great!! Was almost late so maybe thats why theres so much adrenaline in me today!" A small smile appears on wonbins face, he liked hearing you talk.

"Um-"

"Close your eyes for me," you lightly smile. "Oh, continue with what you're saying." You brush lightly on his closed eye. "I uh.. like your outfit today."

"Oh, thank you!" You respond, although you were confused on the amount of compliments he was giving you. "Open." You instruct. "Im just going to put some light make up on you, then you'll be ready in a flash."

Wonbin nods, feeling a little sad that he couldnt spend a lot of time with you. "So uh.."

"Yeah..?" You giggle, dropping down to apply some lip gloss on the boy. His breath lightly hitches, "i was wondering if.. you had any plans for dinner..?" His eyes brows raise, looking at you expectantly.

"S-since its super late and-"

"I'd like that." You smile with a nod, wonbins eyes widening. "Oh.. oh. C-cool." He give you a shy smile, scratching the back of his head.

"Yeah.. andd we are all done." You clap your hands, passing him a mirror. "Do you like it?"

He looks at his reflection, a sly smile on his lips. "It's pretty.. like you."

"Oop-"

"Andd i think im going to take wonbin now," seunghan spawns out of nowhere, taking the boys arm and dragging him out of his chair, sending you a sideways smile.

"7:00!! After shootings!!" Wonbin yells, waving at your figure.
