No one is going to tell me that after the baptism scene they didn't unlock a "new level of closeness" because there are these scenes that literally scream ꜱᴏᴍᴇᴛʜɪɴɢ'ꜱ ɢᴏɪɴɢ ᴏɴ...

The first thing is a scene in itself: an undeniable demonstration of their bond and also of the trust that rang out loudest without any words. The fact that their relationship has not been rectified beforehand makes this scene paradoxically sultry, almost predatorily intense, that my brain added the sequel on its own.

Then there's a scene showing Jinx's contentment accompanying the construction of the weapon and, well, this could be due to a number of factors but one can't help but think that the main reason is Silco, who not only showed her the world ahead of her but perhaps something more ˆᵕˆ.

The moment when Silco enthuses about Jinx in Vi's presence to weaken her resolve doesn't quite look like a mere play on emotion but also an actual radiant feeling flowing through him, but not a feeling in its purest form.

And Jinx sitting casually on Silco's lap for 'torture', as if these circumstances were a mere touch compared to what had already taken place between them.

In conclusion, no saint can purge them of this erotic tension.

Love the implication that it's because Renee loves and cares about him. To their children, he is not a real person.

But more importantly, just as the beginning of the episode gives us an insight of Douglas' parents (overbearing sexist father, meek mother), this vision fleshes out both parents but especially Renee's family situation.

At 15, her parents gave her the ultimatum of either aborting or being kicked out. She chose her boyfriend over her family: they married, and stuck together no matter what. This already says a lot about her.

It's clear that part of this virulent hatred she's showing is not just because she, understandably, is bitter about not receiving support, but because part of her parents' worries ended up being right. Sure, Douglas is not an abusive asshole, and it's touching how much she defends him as much as he defends her. But raising children is much harder than she apparently thought. Look at how much she lies to her mom that they're doing swell. No way she's going to bitch about Ashley to her mom :)

The fact that Renee was kicked out might also explain part of her atittude towards her kids. She's not kicking them out, not even when Ashley became of age and was still a problem for her. Sure, she urges her to find a job, but in a more "normal" way. She's not going to put them through that. Although, of course, she expects to be thanked profusely for that.

Funnily enough, I think this cements for me that, despite Andrew seeing himself in his father, he's more like his mother, while Ashley might be more similar to the dad. Renee's main concern is, much like Andrew, appearances. She doesn't want to be remembered as the mom of two killers. She doesn't want to admit she screwed up by having kids so young. She lies and lies to pretend everything is fine and they're all a happy family. Douglas, on the other hand, is so apathetic that he accidentally echoes Ashley's complete lack of care for consequences. "welp, it's bad, but they're kids." I think this is ultimately why Ashley has Douglas' eyes and Andrew has Renee's eyes.

Oh! And, according to Renee, Andrew is "Accident" and Ashley is "Mistake". Makes sense. Andrew was most likely not wanted. But since he was a good kid, they chose to have Ashley... and Renee is regretting it every day.

It was so completely absurd that it would have been hard for anybody to think of it as anything but a joke, but I understood that this was real. It might’ve been because the memories of Junko Enoshima inside me led to that conclusion.

“Hey, you don’t get it right? I don’t think anybody could. But you know, only I can understand it…”

Consumed by ecstasy, even Ikusaba-san’s breaths began to become ragged.

“Only I am able of understanding her. That’s why she needs me. She still hasn’t realized that but, maybe she is only pretending not to realize. Ufu, that’s because she’s so shy. Ufufufu.”

Seeing this intoxicated Ikusaba-san continue to talk like that, repelled me.I knew that she definitely didn’t have normal feelings for Junko Enoshima, but that sort of thing shouldn’t have anything to do with me.

Andrew: *Murders Ashley to keep control over her, talks about Ashley like she's his "creation", treats Julia like a sex object, doesn't get or respond to most of Ashley's gestures of affection, is accused by Ashley of not really loving her.*

Some Fans: "See this is all proof that Ashley is a monster completely incapable of concern for others. She never loved Andrew, she just sees him as a possession to be controlled."

I really don't get why there's such a dissonance here. I typically assume it's because Decay was told so much from Andrew's perspective, but it's still really jarring.

I hate when I like a fucking edit of two characters I ship and the caption is dumb ass shit like “NOT A SHIP!!! NOT SHIPPING!!! KYS IF YOU SHIP THIS!!! DIEE!!!!” Like you could’ve not said anything.

One of the things I love about Vi in s1 is how unafraid she is of Jinx. Sure, she's afraid Jinx has done/will do bad things, but she isn't afraid to get in close. Jinx holds a mini gun to her face, and she knocks it away like it's not a big deal. She watches Jinx look like she's having fun trying to kill the firelights and she's not afraid of her, she's concerned about how much she's changed and goes to run towards her.

Jinx shot at her and caitlyn, set off all those firelight bombs on the bridge, but Vi still came running back to get her sister after she set caitlyn down. Jinx kidnaped her and had her tied up in the dark with her pistol, and Vi isn't afraid her sister is going to hurt her. She is afraid she'll hurt someone else. That she’ll leave. That she won't believe she loves her.

Sure Vi thinks she can "get powder back," but she still loves her even though this person she met after 7 years of being apart is so different.Vi defies everyone who says her sister isnt there anymore. Vi doesn't blame jinx for being how she is, she blames herself for not being there. She needs to be as close to Jinx as possible to let her know she doesn’t want to go anywhere.

At that tea party, even after everything that happened Vi is still asking Jinx to be with her. Telling Jinx the only reason she could keep going in prison is the thought of getting back to her. She's afraid of a lot of things but not her sister. Not of loving her. She's never afraid of loving her. She's afraid of losing her again. And when Jinx leaves her there, that's the beginning of the end for her.

She has all of this love for Jinx and gets rejected. She's left behind with only caitlyn to fill the void. The one thing that hasn't changed since everything else around her is different. The one purpose she had for 7 years was to get back to her sister, and it was shattered after Jinx rejected her. In s2 Vi is finally afraid to love her sister because she knows it might not be enough. That throws her whole sense of self off balance, and then Vi is clinging to anything to keep her grounded even if it goes against everything she's ever believed in.
