FRIDOLIN

Infodumping more about this guy because I love him sm sm

The happiest Fridolin will ever be is actually during his time as part of team neo plasma ! Sure , he's actively being manipulated and the people he cares for don't care for him beyond the benefits his trust gets them .. but he's not exactly aware of that .

Fridolin feels like he has more liberties during his time in neo plasma . He actually enjoys his work , he likes being useful to the team and he depends heavily on the familiarity his position brings him , since it's essentially the same job he had back in the original team plasma just made actually official .. working feels rewarding to him for the first time ever . This does also leads to him overworking himself quite a lot . He depends a lot on the reassurance and praise he occasionally gets from the few people he latched onto ..

The fall of team neo plasma basically leaves him completely mentally wrecked ... He has an emotional support Pidove , also.

Miscellaneous stuff I thought of ..... Most of the times during his " time off work " , he likes to just read through either already finished or still to do paperwork while listening to insert the pokemon universe's version of Mitski and taking care of that Pidove . The Pidove's name is Stick .

It takes Fridolin a while to adjust to not being able to use his right hand anymore , since he is right-handed . He doesn't like how wobbly his writing can get at times . Fridolin often blames himself for his scars , and he covers them most of the time because seeing them makes him severely uncomfortable . To him , they feel like a constant reminder of his " mistakes and failures " .

Fridolin cut his hair after joining neo plasma with the idea of blending in more with the other grunts , but he couldn't get himself to dye it . He also didn't care much to maintain the length he'd cut it to , eventually just putting it into different hairstyles to make it look shorter .

I have become way too attached to Fridolin's parents .

Their names are . Fabian and Kari 🩷🩷🩷 .

Family basics are that Fridolin is related to sage Bronius through his mother , she's Bronius' daughter because hell yeah .

Fabian and Kari raised Fridolin with the mentality that , so long as he has a good enough lie or excuse made up to avoid negative consequences for his actions , anything he does is A-OK !!

They don't care for their son AT ALL , hence why they just up and leave without him during team plasma's fall . They each care about themselves first and foremost , then for the other after that , but Fridolin was of no importance to them whatsoever . They cared only enough to raise him into what they thought would be independence .

It wasn't independence . Fridolin relied heavily on the safety and reassurance his parents gave him through supporting his constant lies , in most cases even helping him flesh out and perfect said lies . He was devastated when they left him .

Kari is , like her son , part of team plasma because of familial ties . Fabian joined team plasma because he was severely down on his luck and the motive of pokemon liberation gave him the idea that it'd let him " atone " for his less than friendly prior life choices . In the end he stayed for Kari , the liberties it gave him and the way it only encouraged his lifestyle of lying to get his way . Neither him nor Kari have much , if any actual loyalty to team plasma's idea of pokemon liberation .

Koren lore rundown ♪

✦ Childhood ✦

Koren was born in Hoenn, after Eilara, Amia, Yuki and Koy and before Emi, Yuriko, Meris & Reira, making him the total middle child. He's Koy's twin and the only boy among his sisters. When he was born, his mother was extremely disappointed that he was a boy, which ended up translating into neglect. His older siblings were usually the ones taking care of him, since in his mother's eyes he was a disgrace only for his gender.

As years passed, small mishaps would happen and Koren’s mother slowly grew convinced that he was a curse to their family. He didn't know how to convince his mother he was just a child obviously, causing even his sisters to turn against him at one point. The only one who didn't believe their mother's delusional bullshitting was Koy Σ(゜゜)

One time, while Koy and Koren were out playing together, Reira ended up dying because she basically flew down a cliff. (ow.) And in her fury, Koren's mother blames it on him and makes him and Koy back up, throwing them both out! She tells them to go away, to a different country because she's tired of being cursed by this “child of pure evil” as she constantly refers to him. Koy takes Koren's and her things and they move to Unova.

✦ Teenage ✦

After arriving in Unova, Koy tries to apply to all sorts of jobs, only to be rejected since they're both only 15. They manage to get by with pickpocketing And what-not, until someone from Team Plasma saw them, felt obligated and took the two in.

Koy is ecstatic about this, since their new adoptive parent is very caring (more like, indoctrinating them to team plasma's views) and is eager to join Team Plasma fully. Koren on the other hand remains skeptical, but it doesn't take long for him to be manipulated too,,

The two join Team Plasma once they're both 16 and Koren just has a love at first sight internal gay panic when he sees Fridolin (this isn't based on anything at all,,,,, NU UH)

Koren ends up basically clinging to Fridolin, calling him anything besides his actual name because of his really bad memory and the two end up getting together yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They also fool around a lot and ditch work, only possible since Fridolin has totally amazing convincing skills.... (￣∇￣’)

When it comes to the fall of the initial team plasma, Koy tries taking Koren to safety, only to be fatally wounded. Koren panics, trying to save his sister with anything possible but just ends up watching her die instead.

Due to the gory scene, he throws up and collapses on top of her dead body and ends up having a dream where he meets Giratina. He clings to this dream and gets turned into basically Antichrist’s personal prophet/vessel since he clings to the belief that he is actually of importance. ( like how peony was possessed by Calyrex to speak to the player,,, yk???) mmmm

Boyfriend is of course terrified by this, which Koren doesn't understand. When Fridolin ends up being indoctrinated more heavily and distances himself Koren goes into a frenzy because he's under the impression it's his own fault for ever interacting with him, but is literally unable to stop himself from ( at least trying to) clinging onto Fridolin, going from joking nicknames to either Sage, Lin or his full name, trying to acknowledge their hierarchy difference thinking that's what he wants (it really isn't—)

While he's just chilling one day (having hallucinations as usual) one of his sisters approaches him, proceeding to try and kill him, under the impression that Koren is still a curse upon their family because of Koy's death. She thinks cutting off his arm will make him lose enough blood to die, but he survives. He then builds himself a prosthetic robot arm because I just REALLY like characters that are part Android lololol

ELABORATION ON GIRATINA'S AND KOREN'S RELATIONSHIP???

Koren's soul has a splinter of Giratina embedded deep inside it so technically he's Giratina??????

Giratina (obviously) wants it back, but Koren would have to die for that to happen, because he doesn't know how to just “give it up” since Antichrist doesn't wanna tell him smh.

If Koren is one thing though, it's being extremely hard to kill. So Giratina gives him a butt load of Hallucinations every now and then to try and make him Khs

Look at him he's so glorious. Anyway this is all just a beta lore thing I will write it in full detail (someday)

FRIDOLIN LORE RUNDOWN except it's not necessarily fleshed out yet and a lot of it still very " for plot reasons this happens " I think ( also forgive my terrible comma placing skills )

HAPPY FRIDOLIN !

Fridolin never joined team plasma , he was essentially raised with team plasma as part of his life . He's the grandson of one of the seven sages ( Bronius ) and never had any chance or reason to leave team plasma .

Of course he wasn't an active working member up until he was around 15 ( He's around 17 during the events of bw ) , though he was allowed to tag along with his parents to e.g. speeches by Ghetsis and whatnot .

Despite having been raised with it , Fridolin never cared much for team plasma's plans . He believes in their ideals , very much so , but the working aspect of it all never appealed to him . Throughout his time as a regular grunt most of his work assignments were to tag along with any of the sages and act as a sort of makeshift bodyguard for them , he never liked that . A lot of the time Fridolin would use his " authority " ( the excuse that he can do anything because of his ancestry ) to avoid work , sneaking off with his partner to do whatever , and avoid being told on by his coworkers . He was able to get away with this both because of his incredible skills as convincing his grandfather to excuse this " singular mishap " ( sobbing until he got his way ) or simply because it went unnoticed due to lack of reports .

He isn't exactly of much significance to the canon bw story , since he'd be mostly goofing off during all of it . During the " end " of bw's story , Fridolin is just scurrying to evade capture seeing as his parents ditched without him , and his grandfather is obviously with the other sages still . At some point throughout this , his first and partner pokemon , Reuniclus / Squishy is fatally wounded ! Meanwhile Fridolin , with the panic and chaos going on in his brain , manages to run himself straight into some fire type pokemon's attack . ( This is kinda very much some " for plot reasons " stuff until I figure it out properly )

He ends up with a group of other grunts , sticking with them and then , eventually , joining team neo plasma , because he seeks the comfort and stability of his old life .

I exaggerated when I wrote that he ran straight into that attack maybe ..

His time in team neo plasma is when he really gets indoctrinated with their goals and beliefs , or at least when this indoctrination starts translating into actual devotion to his job . He gets tossed right back into his old work , except this time more exclusively , as a " bodyguard " type thing for Z i n z o l i n .

This time around even more vulnerable to manipulation , Fridolin quickly falls into the belief that things would've gone better for him during the fall of the initial team plasma if he'd " just done his job right " . His job as in being present to support the sages .

Fridolin basically forces himself into focusing entirely on his job and his " obligations to team plasma " . He feels he has to make up for all his negligence in the past , believing anything he used to do , or the people he was close to , to be a distraction .

Fridolin is put into somewhat of a position of authority , or at least that's the pretend of it all , he has the authority but he was pretty much only given his position to put more pressure on him and therefore heighten his wish for good performance . ( Is this too much inspired by N ?? ) His rank isn't much more than , like I mentioned , personal bodyguard , but in front of him it's put on a pedestal and made out to be a position in which he has to perform perfectly , unless he wants everything to crumble and fail .

I have yet to even try and figure out what's up with post b2w2 Fridolin , since I'm still trying to properly work out all of his established lore and whatnot , but I'll get there eventually !! Wrote this impulsively with an unethical lack of sleep , nvm spelling mistakes or anything like that . 😿😿😿

Named Ryver, he's Bede's personal problem. He's notoriously bad at catching pokemon, you could give him a master ball and even if he tried catching a common pokemon it'd probably still get away....

Him in the game, since his joyous details aren't as possible... (￣∇￣’)

Small lore summary:

He's part pokemon (Zoroark), his mother was half, so he's 1/4th technically. Since he has a human body, even if part pokemon, his dynamax works differently; it's based on his emotions! If he feels something very strongly, like anger or sadness, he may dynamax (ˊ˘ˋ)

In that state he's basically in a frenzy of sorts.. He also grows a mere centimeter (he's 5'2/ 159cm!) and will (try to) destroy opponents/objects he doesn't like or are in his path. Staying too long in dynamax will affect him mentally and breaks his bones! Σ(゜゜) the only one who knows about this is Bede (and post-game Author knows too), because when Ryver was brought to the orphanage (in a cardboard box full of clothing donations) Bede snatched the letter attached to the half suffocated boy and read it, promptly regretting it upon finding out Ryver's origins. Now Bede feels sort of responsible for the “timid idiot”, making sure he *doesn't* dynamax in front of others or anything of the sort..

If there's Bede, Ryver will be somewhere nearby, though probably hiding. Most of his team was gifted to him by Chairman Rose or Bede

His Hatterene works similarly to a service animal! Bede trained it so when he's not there, Hatterene will watch over Ryver (which is why he often walks so slow, to let Hatterene catch up). His Hatterene does not fight unless absolutely necessary. When it realizes Ryver is stressed or about to dynamax, it will knock him out! Then likely drag him off to Bede (or Author..) He avoids pokemon battles (because of his dynamax-ing; this is unconsciously though as he isn't told about this thing of his until after the Bede kidnapping Opal did...)

After said confession Ryver dynamaxed out of stress he received from being told the truth ∑(๑ºº๑)!!
