Pam Bozanich deliberately repeating the myth about Kitty and Jose eating berries and cream
Lyle the Brave
Erik Menendez, Andy Cano, Anamaria Baralt, and Lyle Menendez ca. 1980.
βDid Lyle and Erik like going to the family gatherings?β
βThey loved it.β
βAnd is it Lyle and Erik you were talking about who loved it more than the other kids?β
βYes.β
βThey seemed to be really happy there, playing with the other children?β
βThey loved family. Thatβs one of the comments that Lyle always made when he came to my house. I have a very happy family and itβs always full of young people. He loved coming over and more so than any other child.β
βDid that cause problems with kitty? The fact that he loved being at your house so much? Was there some resentment at that point that he could come over on his own?β
βI think so. Yes.β

Menendez Myth: Lyle wore his father's shoes to the memorial service
Fact check: False
Lyle did not wear Jose's shoes to the Memorial Service in Beverly Hills. This myth came from Marzi Eisenberg, who described herself as Jose's 'office wife'. She claimed to be in the limo with the brothers on the way to the memorial when she noticed Lyle flexing his foot back and forth. She claimed that he said, 'Hey, Marzi, who said I couldn't fill my father's shoes?', before he admitted to be wearing Jose's shoes, a pair of black or dark coloured tassel loafers. This was debunked by playing a video from the memorial, where Lyle is seen wearing a pair of cowboy boots as seen in the video.
βNot only was she a brilliant lawyer but having her in my life was the first time I ever felt a kind of maternal love. She saved my life in more ways than from the death penalty. There is not enough space on Facebook for me to explain. I learned more life lessons from her than anyone else. Her influence on me continues to this day.β β Lyle Menendez via Facebook post, 2017.
Hereβs a video showcasing Erik and Lyle walking with chains around their ankles.
I can only imagine that it must have been extremely difficult for them to walk around.
As you can see in the video Erik especially is having an extremely hard time walking.

Jill Lansing: Did you find evidence of a pattern of behaviour with regard to Lyle Menendez in protecting other people? Dr Stuart Hart: Yes. Jill Lansing: And did you find it particularly with regard to his brother? Dr Stuart Hart: Yes. Jill Lansing: And is this just in one age range or throughout his life? Dr Stuart Hart: The information I have would make it, stronger in the primary and the adolescent. Jill Lansing: Rather than preschool? Dr Stuart Hart: Yes

The Second Trial
Erik Menendez: The judge said well, Erik and Lyle are not women. So the battered women's syndrome doesn't apply. So all of that trauma is not relevant and is not allowed into the second trial. Leslie had a virtual panic attack in the courtroom when she heard this ruling. She was screaming and yelling. It's one thing to be biased but it's another thing to let your bias affect your judicial decisions in the courtroom. It was a stunning moment. They hadn't heard any of my family testify, none of the relatives, and none of the evidence had been admitted, so it was just me, cold up on the stand.
Lyle Menendez: The torrent of public media ridicule made me kind of go back into a shell. The public never really heard from me again. And I did not testify.
"We were sitting in the car and Erik was crying and Lyle was looking at Erik like a father looks at his son", said one person at the house that day, "Lyle was very serious, saying 'Oh my God, I have to do this and I have to do that.' Worrying about Erik, looking at Erik. You could see he had been crying, but he was not as emotional as Erik"
Hereβs a little clip of Erik & Lyle subconsciously copying each other.

"What was difficult for me when I was transferred to Pleasant Valley from Folsom six months ago was that everyone here knew who I am, but I didnβt know anybody. Everybody was watching me. I was scared and concerned. Most guys have treated me well, but I have been bullied. Itβs like a small jungle. You have to stand up to them, but at the same time you have to be extremely respectful. You have to know how to apologize. After 15 years, Iβve learned the lingo on how to be a prisoner. I have gotten into fightsβ¦ many fights. But I never fight first. You have to learn to be smart. There is a perpetual state of fear that exists as background noise. You always have to be aware of who is around you. You have to continually hone your survival instincts.
When I was transferred here from Folsom, the transport made a stop at a gas station. And I saw civilians walking around not paying attention to anything around them. To me it seemed an unbelievably unsafe environment. Then I stopped myself and thought, βYouβve been in prison too long.β
I live in an environment where I am surrounded by 1,000 strangers. Some have the potential to be good, but many are violent. There are three or four alarms every day. One inmate is attacking another everyday with a knife. I have to put up emotional blocks to protect myself. I know that at any moment I can be shot, beaten, killed."
Erik Menendez
"My brother was telling me, we need to tell what happened. uh, and say why this happened. And I was like, well why is that β why is that relevant? Let's keep that out. And I told him, look, okay. You can do this, and you can talk about what happened. but you will still be convicted. And you will still be in jail when it's over. Watch. And it won't, it will not have mattered. And uh, uh, you know, I was right in that he's still in jail. But I think I was wrong in that it didn't matter. Because So many people write me about being helped by seeing that finally told in a public way, that kind of uh, sexual abuse. It is important for this to continue to be out there and talked about."
β Lyle Menendez
"I want the legacy to be this is what happens when there is domestic violence and sex abuse in a home. What happens behind the walls of homes, if you donβt do something about it - this is what happens. And so, it results in a homicide or some destruction of life. I would be prefer to be like, just sort of a tragic example. You know itβs just tragic. Itβs an American story."
Lyle Menendez
Erik Menendez so overcome with emotion, that he can't even the speak the words of what Jose Menendez did to him.
They could have just called me, and told me to come to the police station.
