she's been waiting the whole adventure for the punchline.
idk how intentional evbo is but the way he plays pvpciv evbo as just a kid desperately looking for any form of human connection hits me so hard. the first person to give him a chance and teach him how to be better and he's immediately attached like a lost puppy. he's constantly asking anyone who'll listen how to make friends, he's told he should know people's names first and he immediately makes a point to learn as many people's names as he can. he's willing to go to horrific lengths to protect the connections he already has and is so open to sharing important information just so people trust him. even the bit with the video journal is just a way for him to try to be seen and understood, and he didn't even hesitate with the rather suspicious "share" option and picked it instantly.

I swear to god they can't keep edging each other like this if they don't fuck by the end of this season I'm gonna riot

WOOH GOD THIS TOOK A LOT OF TIME. THIS IS MEANT TO BE FOR THE AU IVE BEEN GOING ON ABOUT FOR THE PAST FEW WEEKS but i can absolutely post up to here on its own i think without actually going into the au's territory too much DJBFDKFNDKFND
SO HAVE THIS!! FOR NOW!!!!
i think the sacrificial lamb take on evbo is nice and very cool to play with but might i offer my cent?
evbo is a calf.
there is something inherently holy about the sacrifice of a lamb. it is innocent and pure and you give up its life in worship. there is nothing holy about what the iron swords do to evbo. they open the door, they torture him, they slaughter him. they farm him. cattle are farm animals.
some calves are born to be killed for veal. there are multiple different ways veal calves are raised, with a range in ages at which they are slaughtered for their meat. one process for raising veal calves, which is particularly inhumane (and really quite disgusts me), involves placing the calf in a small pen and feeding it barely sustainable food until it reaches around eighteen weeks old. they are then killed for veal.
there is no worship when it comes to slaughtering the trembling calf staring down the barrel of your gun. you simply watch as it falls limp to the ground, blood pooling beneath its body, before you drag it off to be turned into the meat that sits on your plate.
why would you ever worship the creature that only ever lived to die?

this episode showcased the difference between acevi so well. levi, who can't feel emotions and struggles to understand them, making him function on logic instead of feelings. and then we have ace, who is literally a bundle of emotions, who clings and acts on his own feelings so much
ace needing to stay mad at levi, because he copes best with anger, because he cares so much to the point it could genuinely break him. and it's something levi can't understand

compiling some of my thoughts
god . fuck . the way Teruko’s “let go of me” was so soft and apprehensive as if she didn’t want to scare Eden further than she already was . I’M SICKKKK/pos
I still love Hu but yeah her insistence got a little much in this episode . thank you for everything girl but please . please take a break
david chiem secures his number one placement at the “top ten worst bisexuals” list /aff. god. I’m actually insane about him and Teruko’s foils it is everything to me. he wants Teruko to give into her nature so he can use her as a method to prove his worldview right- that every person is born with their permanent “nature” in their blood, and that it’s pointless trying to change that. he wants her to do what she’s always done, because that’s how he gets the advantage on her. that’s how he gets his satisfaction, when there’s nothing left to feasibly criticize about his words because he knows for sure he’s right. all he wants is for him, the man born to lie, to be proven without a shadow of a doubt that he is CORRECT.
but Teruko is not giving him that fulfillment. she knows he has a point, she knows he’s using her word against her, she is visibly affected by this “easy choice” he’s dangling in front of her. yet she doesn’t take his bait. she chooses to make room for a little bit of trust. not just to spite David, but also to make the trial more organized and efficient. she is working to fix her fatal mistake from earlier in the trial. and it’s fucking awesome.
Teruko as a character is just so engaging. she wants to find excuses for not trusting others, yet at the same time she also protects herself with excuses TOWARDS trusting others.
“I’m repaying your favor, and nothing else. That’s why I’ll trust you, just this once.”
she is so conflicted about what she wants. about what she THINKS she wants versus what is BEST. she wants to do the right thing, but she wants to be safe. I hope to see that grow and blossom as DRDT continues, because she is truly one of, if not, THE greatest fangan protagonist I know of
gah, and here comes the Ace culprit accusation. it may not be Huover after all… but, we’ll see where this goes. I think they’ll bring up Ace’s gloves (for the rope burn) and his strength (for getting the rope over the ceiling, which I assume was done with the starch ball…? he did have a chance to get the clothes, because he was a part of the redesign gang) when talking about his possibility as a culprit. either way, I look forward to what happens next!
good shit, DRDTDev. I’m loving everything about this. thank you for all you do . 🙏
