the fact that jason verbalising the idea of bruce killing him over the joker is what finally makes jason break into tears causes me think that this is the moment he understood that it was truly possible for bruce to kill him
the creature (frankenstein) and jason todd parallels:
associations with death and therefore transgression
negative influence of father figures
questions of nature vs. nurture
sympathetic killer and antagonist
a ‘rebirth’ that leads them into vengeance against the neglect of their father figures, along with giving them agency through education or cognisance after being deprived of the ability to realise their suffering- the delaceys and lazarus pit
being rejected of their one morally questionable wish towards their father figure
goes on a path of vengeance that leads to their deaths
lower class or representative of them that is given a ‘voice’
dismissed from their emotions because of their violence/intimidating stature
strange niche of characters who would read frankenstein and cry because they related to the creature
for some reason dick & jason's relationship is often written as if jason was supposed to know plenty about dick even before they met for the first time, but in canon he knew close to nothing other than the fact that he was the previous robin (or rather, not even that, but i sort of refuse to believe that the topic did not come up even *once,* no matter how much bruce would like to avoid it). hence, i think upon hearing that dick used to be in a circus, jay should (completely seriously) ask him if he was a clown
Not Bruce standing in Dick's room because he's lonely
nothing shows a character is evil quite like a good cooking montage
just imagining telemachus growing up only remembering his father as an idea of a man who is fighting in a war to get back to him. until he’s around 11 and the war is over and his father isn’t back.
the idea of him and penelope slowly becoming resigned to grief but holding out hope because odysseus is the strongest man either of them can think of.
the idea of penelope seeing telemachus, looking so much like her lost husband, become more and more cruel to her out of his insecurity and resentment.
and her knowing that the more telemachus grows up the closer the day is where she promised to remarry. the day she will be forced to forget the memory of odysseus and leave their palace and their son, all to be a prize for a man not much older than telemachus.
the realisation once all is restored that penelope delaying her marriage may have delayed fate because it’s probable athena only made odysseus leave ogygia because penelope’s shroud trick was exposed and she would have had to remarry soon.
the parallels between a death in the family and a lonely place of dying with jason and bruce becoming reckless in their vigilantism to the point of being suicidal in their grief. but jason’s hope for overcoming that grief was his downfall and bruce’s hope was rejected by him but saved him nonetheless.
post exam season deep cleans >>>
every time i see a post that only references a character named tim i need to do a massive double take to figure out if it’s tim drake or tim stoker
