Workout Wednesdays
Hey there girly boys! This post marks the beginning of what I hope to be an additional weekly series to help us realize our inner girliness with some external flare. We shall see how the two series go: Monday Musings and Workout Wednesdays.

Now dear friends, understand, I’m not a physical trainer. I’m an exercise hobbyist. My suggestions are not from a professional viewpoint. So, just accept them as suggestions from a fellow girly boy who loves to be girly-fit.
Before we begin with the exercise of the day, I would like to say something that you may not like: No exercise or workout is going to give you a womanly physique. Sorry. I fantasize a LOT though my posts, but I need to be honest in these WW’s blogs. If you fail, I don’t want it to be because I offered unreal expectations. Think about it like this. If a man attended a ladies’ only exercise studio and followed all of their advice, with workouts and diet (even dressing and acting feminine), he would improve his physique and health; but he’d be a healthier man in girly yoga pants, not a healthy woman. It’s just not in the male chemistry, no matter how much we might wish it.
Now, with that said, outside of supplementation intended to that end, you can improve your health in such a way so as to aid in a girlier appearance.
Hip Raises
Hip raises, though simple and overlooked, is a good step in the direction of girly fitness–and its not because it looks girly; they are special like you.
I have found that active flexibility under tension positively aids the body to accept many of the exercises I will be sharing on these WW’s posts. Hip raises are basic, foundational, and preparatory.
So here’s what you do, girly boy. Get your sissy-ish mind in the right place. Put on something girly, like some cute capri leggings, bra, and tank. Don’t even think about working out in anything less than feminine clothes. Yep, all the way to cute sneakers, panties, and bra.
Lie back on the floor with your legs bent and feet firmly planted on the ground, a little less than shoulder width apart (you know the position lol). Your shoulders should be squared and your upper back solidly fixed to the floor. Place your manicured hands across your waist just below your pierced naval. Now, squeeze your glutes and abs as you press your hips upward (note the picture in this article). Inhale as you do this. It might be helpful to imagine that you are tightening a string tied between your naval and rosebud. If you do this right, you should also be able to feel your inner thighs squeezing in on your little tucked guy (you should always be tucked, right?). Keep your cheeks squeezed at the highest position, hold, and then exhale slowly as you return your butt to the floor. That’s one rep.
This is not a race! This is slow and meticulous with steady breathing and tension. Make every rep count and do NOT over-extend yourself. This is an easy and novice exercise, but there is still the potential of hurting your pretty self.
I’d recommend beginning with three sets of low reps and working up to a single set of 50 reps a few times a week. Once you accomplish 50, you can progress to elevated feet or begin the process of working on your bridging.
This is an exercise that you can do as part of your girly workout or as a part of stretching or as a part of a warmup. It’s something you can do at night while watching TV. That’s up to you. This should help train you to “clinch the cheeks” (your S.O. will thank me) and help you to open the hips, stretch the abductors, and build some strength in the lower back.
Basically, it’s just a good little exercise that has its place in your gym bunny sessions. It may not seem like much, but it pays off in the end.
