(returns from the dead with another poll)
Dennis Takes a Mental Health Day had the most mixed reaction of any season 16 episode (except maybe FVR--let me know if a poll about that would be something you'd be interested in!) so I got curious; do people like and dislike the episode for the same reasons? Does what you ship and how much you like Dennis affect your opinion, or are there other factors? I wanna know!
The poll isn't too long--unless you decide to write a dissertation about the episode, it shouldn't take more than a few minutes to fill out. But I mean, if you want to write a dissertation on how bad/good it is I'm all ears
Can't move on from how Abed keeps track of every classic winger comeback, they were both each other's biggest fan even for all the smallest things
The way at first they both idolized and worshipped each other until they learned that the other is just as scared as they are, and the worshipping turns to admiration and respect and understanding and true friendship

I can never quite get over how much Nine tried to protect Rose. I donât just mean keeping her out of physical danger, but also mentally and emotionally he tried to make her feel as safe and secure as possible by not letting on just how scary things truly were at times.
It hits me so hard every single time I see Nineâs demeanour change from âthe delta wave is either not going to work or itâs going to wipe out the entirety of Earth along with itâ to âRose Tyler youâre a genius!â because in that moment he was clearly thinking about exactly how to break the news to Rose and he decided to lie and try to be as upbeat and enthusiastic as possible so she didnât freak out and put herself in danger to help him. He put on a whole act, pretending that he had a plan and that all he needed was Rose to step into the TARDIS and wait for him, and heâs bouncing around and smiling the entire time.
And then he leaves the TARDIS, and the act drops immediately and it is one of THE most hard-hitting scenes in Doctor Who history, the way he just turns around and sends her home.
But also itâs when he regenerates and even though regenerating hurts because to him he still feels like heâs dying, he makes sure to crack jokes the entire time just so Rose feels comfortable and assured, and isnât too scared by whatâs happening in front of her.
Or itâs in Fatherâs Day when he knows the only way to save the planet is for Pete Tyler to die, but he tries desperately to find a different solution so Rose doesnât have to go through seeing her dad die again, despite the fact that Nine and Rose had fallen out anyway because Rose had caused the entire mess in the first place.
Just... Nine protecting Rose from any emotional distress along with actual physical danger is exactly why their relationship is so so beautiful. Tenrose will always be my favourite pairing but I think ninerose is just as superior in its own way and I love it to death. Nine was so caring and compassionate towards her, even if he didnât outwardly show it as much as Ten did. I would even go so far as to say that Nine was the most caring out of all the other Doctors. He was at his peak in emotional vulnerability, desperate not to be alone unlike post-Rose Ten, but hadnât quite been worn down enough to switch off his feelings like Eleven. He just cared so much and GOD I miss Christopher Eccleston.
is it any wonder that everytime troyâs hurt, he calls out for abed? after all, abedâs the first one who looked at troy and said âi see your vulnerability and i love what i see.â abedâs the first one who said âi know you donât want to be strong, and i know you donât yet have the strength not to be.â and finally, abedâs the one who told troy âwhen youâre ready, let me be strong, let yourself be delicate, and you will see your beauty in us.â
I wanna add how Jeff in s5 just ? suddenly sucks at law ?? Like đ the amount of times Jeff joked about it and dismissed his knowledge saying "i teach law at Greendale idk anything about it." This is the man who fooled the entire system for 7 years with no education?! The man who kicked out the Glee club with a cease and desist just for fun cuz he hated their songs?? Jeff practiced law for fun, it came so easily to him. Yeh it was mostly bullshit and 9/11 references, but I doubt that alone led him to be one of the most respected lawyers. They were so adamant on getting him back on the job, they doubled his pay and already had his office ready. It makes me so mad that they turned his law carrier and skills into a joke just to completely separate this "new Jeff" from his shark past. It was so unnecessary.
Also we're never given any reason why his law firm failed. Am I supposed to believe it's just because Abed refused to add Jeff's phone number in the promotional video. And Jeff just?? accepted that fate?? Huh...
to this day i wish that jeff winger had become a defence lawyer at the end of community. like sure. greendale means a lot to him and its cool that heâs a teacher. but he was an excellent lawyer and he clearly loved it! the entire reasoning behind him not going back was that he grew as a person and didnât want to be a shark anymore. and him being a pro bono small community lawyer that helps people was what he wanted!!! it just didnât pay the bills!!! i literally see no reason at all for him not to go and become a defence lawyer or a prosecutor or work for a firm that specialises in community or non-corporate cases. like there are so many types of lawyer. so many. corporate, starving or teacher were not his only options here
This line proves why timepetals works so well
Martha thought like me, like most of us in this situation, let's be honest. She's sharing a bed inches away from a man who traveled back in time to show her Shakespeare. This could be read as romantic.
But The Doctor has always been oblivious to the impact he has on others.
So I'm not going to say Rose wouldn't think like Martha, or wouldn't wish for something more.
But Rose wouldn't act like Martha because Rose would see The Doctor is troubled so she'd try and help him find a solution. She'd put him first.
And that's how their love story can seem as if it's put on hold, how they can both be focused on the problems first.
Because their love speaks through everything they do, every action and thought is out of love for the other.
How Martha felt a little led on isn't selfish, it's natural. But what Rose does is selfless.
Thinking about s2 ep3 where Jeff has his whole freak out over cholesterol and Duncan is the one to come up after class to him and check up on him.
"Mind if I ask what happened in class today?"
It's so simple but Duncan clearly noticed something was wrong and it shows how their friendship is genuine. I seriously wish we saw more of it because while horny loser Duncan is hilarious, he also deeply cares about his friends and can give genuinely good advice.
"While claiming to have no religion, you were actually devoutly worshipping yourself. And now that your God has high cholesterol, you're trying to kick Pierce's in the balls."
And it's so rare to see people worry about Jeff because he always convinces people that he's got it, so people brush it off. But Duncan has been a stable support for Jeff since the pilot when he cared enough to teach Jeff a lesson.
He sees through Jeff's bullshit but he also deeply respects him.
Iâm having an absolute ball on this bitch (the bitch in question being the idea of the ofmd crew and the bs squad going on little allegorical journeys together to teach each other important lessons about friendship and being yourself and the importance of violent resistance in the face of colonialist oppression)
