I Think That Killing A Dragon Should Have Catastrophic Nuclear-fallout Level Environmental Consequences

i think that killing a dragon should have catastrophic nuclear-fallout level environmental consequences tbh. their blood should scorch and wither the earth with fire and poison, the toxic fumes released as they decay should choke the land and all nearby living creatures, and the entire landscape where they fell should be transformed into a blighted wasteland where bleached leviathan bones loom upwards out of the ground as a warning that can be seen from miles away, the boundary markers of an exclusion zone.

woman walking a husky and a maltese and her arms are splayed out like christ on the cross cause of their opposite temperaments. husky pointed like an arrow down the path and the maltese smelling the concrete with great slow consideration. she is grimacing. this is a new tarot card to me, but just another day on earth

It’s too late to save the world

Ash trees sprout in cracks in the asphalt. The gutters collect leaves, which become soil, in which dandelions sprout.

There’s nothing you can do

A man plants an entire forest. A young girl teaches a drone to deliver saplings. The elderly volunteer to clean up radioactive waste.

You might as well give up

Wolves return to ancestral hunting grounds. Bison return to the prairie. Otters return to the kelp beds. Young oaks push roots deep into reclaimed farmland.

Who cares anyway?

Children draw pictures of flowers. Festivals are held for cherry blossoms and pecans and apples. A crowd cheers as the last line is cut away from the ensnared creature.

I have disobeyed worse than you

The world does not die on my watch

If you think people used to willingly stare off into the distance before smartphones, my dad told me he had this psychology assignment when he was in college in the 80s which was basically

Go to a restaraunt by yourself and eat a meal without a newspaper or journal or anything else to keep you occupied and then write a report about it

Which tells me that this was a way for a professor to inflict psychological torture on their students and that people used to bring little things with them to keep them entertained. Shown by those old pictures of everyone in a trolley reading a newspaper with one hand.

Frankly I think that the human brain has been craving smart phone forever. Perhaps we use it too much at times but if this was 1985 we also wouldn’t be talking to people. We’d just be looking at newspaper or drawing stuff on notepad instead. And the old people would all be shaking their fists about how kids spend too much time looking at that damn TV because yes this discourse has been going on long before smart phone

What is it like to live in the present? Says the spider, to live like a bug. No memory of the past, says the fly, no concept of the future, my history embedded in my dna compelling me to act. Do I exist, says the ladybug, where does my sense of self come from, where does it disappear to when I can't remember?
Or is it enough to live in one dimension, says the butterfly, guided by my body feelings. My sense of touch, taste, and hunger. Can I exist without memory asks the preying mantis, can I be conscious without contemplating the future, can I take in all the sensations of the world in the now.
what do i become, asks the daddy long legs, with a flat sense of time?

unanswered thoughts about where consciousness comes from, and the degrees with which consciousness exists, rooted in the perception of body and time
