Where’s that post that’s like “as a woman from India radical feminism is the default feminism in the global south” and some American replies like “uh yeah I was born in Louisiana I know the south is filled with bigots like you”
one thing that i think mainstream feminism does not address nearly enough is the impact of patriarchal religion. in the US, for example, many girls grow up being EXPLICITLY TAUGHT that women were created to be subservient to men and that their destiny in life is to be submissive to their husband as if he were god. this is not a rare experience.
it amazes me how before the different branches of feminism had polite debates on their ideologies and could agree to disagree and live pacifically but nowadays if you say you're anti porn people tell you to kill yourself.
“why do you hate men?”
do i? do i hate men? i don’t think so.
hatred is rape. hatred is femicide. hatred is the fact that women are most likely to be murdered by their boyfriend or husband. hatred is nailing dead rats to female safe spaces. hatred is making majority of women afraid of what could happen to them if they go outside at night. hatred is intentionally invoking fear in women just because you can. hatred is female genital mutilation. hatred is the husband stitch. hatred is getting off on women’s abuse, suffering, and degradation. hatred is objectification. hatred is dehumanization. hatred is sex trafficking. hatred is the buying and selling of female bodies as if they’re an object. hatred is being disgusted by women’s natural bodies. hatred is expecting women to shave off every inch of their body hair and cover their faces so they live up to your expectations and ridiculing them if they don’t. hatred is making women ashamed of their natural bodies.
if you want to call my anger and frustration at men’s behavior “hatred”, than my hatred is reactionary. men hated us first. misogyny and misandry are not the same.
HER BRAIN
I'm trying to understand why feminism is hated by other women. Most of them say "I'm not feminist because I want equality and not women above men". They care more about men than us.
They care more about the same people who harass, rape and kill women just because they (we) exist.
can we talk about that in catcher in the rye, holden unironically cares about when other people get excited and start talking really fast about something they enjoy? and he hates the fact that anyone else would ever stop someone from talking about something they love, and he is disgusted at humans, like teachers or other people around him for shutting someone down when they're genuinely excited and happy? this book was written in 1950s, man, and holden is still so relatable! like, holden is fundamentally good, and the reason he feels so alienated is because he understands that the world is ugly, and he is disgusted and angry by this world, and i think that's amazing.
