"And we rule the kingdom inside my room." A Kaylor... who may have even inspired her for the song. GOOD TIMES! 🤩
5 years ago yesterday, Taylor Swift went to a fan's engagement party and performed King Of My Heart for them!

"Welcome to New York" 🌈

STORY a) "It's a song I wrote on my album that I wrote about moving here. I moved here very recently. I'm new to town, so I wrote it about that feeling that I got living here for the first time."
(Taylor moved to New York in 2014)
STORY b) "Well, the song is inspired by what I love about New York, which is just kind of there's a freedom to... and there's a celebration of being unique, you know? And that was something that I was very inspired by. And also I wrote the song kind of following the... when gay marriage became legal in New York. And that was something that, you know, so many of my friends, had to be kind of scrutinized for who they were in love with, you know, from the time they came out. And I just, you know, I didn't want to make a big deal of it. Because I don't think it should be a big deal who you love, you know?"
(In NY gay marriage became legal on June 24, 2011)
Taylor didn't want to make a big deal of (her coming out)... 🤷
March 2013: Taylor's friend Este Haim at W's Best Performances party. That's all we need to know!
No bad blood with Zoe! + We know Olivia is a friend of Taylor and Jack as well.
A new W mag Taylor Swift video. It seems they used RED songs.
“being with Karlie is probably the one time when Taylor can feel invisible.”
It’s difficult to parse exactly what attracts Swift to models: I’ve had friends explain it in terms of body-matching (Swift’s finally found her tall, wispy people) or that Kloss, like her, has juggled fame since her early teens. The writer Durga Chew-Bose told me that “being with Karlie is probably the one time when Taylor can feel invisible.” I don’t think any of these explanations is necessarily wrong. But I think there’s something even deeper about Swift’s model affinity, especially to the Kloss-like variety that currently dominate the industry.
In the absence of boys or friend drama, the only thing left to gossip about in Swift's life is her friendship with Karlie Kloss. Photos of them hanging out (and embracing/maybe kissing) on a balcony were quickly transformed into evidence of a relationship. Even the gossip press, which should be sated with the stream of Swift paparazzi and Instagram photos, is on board.
As evidenced by the abundance of “Kaylor” fanfic on Tumblr, there’s a serious audience and appetite for those rumors coming to fruition. But Swift’s popularity ultimately hinges on her image being mom-safe. Perhaps that’s why she can hang out with Lena Dunham but never say a word about Girls or Dunham's memoir, why she distanced herself from Gomez when she went back to Justin Bieber, and why she spends more of her time with Kloss, who spends her time promoting her charitable vegan cookie line for Momofuku, than Cara Delevingne, a model in the bad-girl Kate Moss tradition who parties with Rihanna and dates Michelle Rodriguez. Isn't it delicate.
So much going on in these 2 photos… the PAWN is missing from the VERY apparent chess board, the blue, white & black clothing, the DOROTHY costume, the snake & dance book?
So many signs. So many clues. 🖤🤍🩵🔍
Nashville May 8, 2023: "It's really crazy to go back and listen to these songs that at the time were a fantasy but now feel really relatable to me."
You are the best thing, that's ever been mine 🥹💜
Speech before singing Mine (talking about Speak Now)
I talk a lot about how folklore was the first time I was writing about characters and stuff, but actually Speak Now I was inventing scenarios that definitely weren't happening in my life. I wrote this song Speak Now about interrupting a wedding of an ex and like.. I was 18 when I wrote that. None of my exes were getting married. I never interrupted a wedding, it was just a fantasy. And I think that's one of my favorite things about Speak Now, it was so fantasy, it was so fantastical, I think it was the first time I was thinking in cinematic, you know 'this isn't my life', but what if it were? Like watching a movie, and trying to write what those characters might be feeling. I say this because I wanna play a song, that when I wrote it I was writing about all these relationship things that haven't happened to me. There's drawer of my things at your place, and thing like that. And working through fights and not just breaking up. Anyway, so those were things I was not par-taking in at 18 and 19, when I wrote these songs. It's been such a privilege and such a treat to go back and re-record them 'cause relating to them now.. it's really crazy to go back and listen to these songs that at the time were a fantasy but now feel really relatable to me. And um... this is called MINE.

Are you not entertained? 🥳
(Pandemic) We all needed our methods of escapism, and that was one of mine. I just kind of needed to create, not just an album, but... folklore was a state of mind for me. It was like... In my imagination, I could just escape to this sort of wooden cabin, in the middle of the forest, and I could just pretend like what was happening wasn't really happening. So that was basically the first step, was envisioning this album, and so it kind of became this imaginary vacation spot I would go in my head, you know?

Transcript by cages-boxes-hunters-foxes. "So we have brought the folklore cabin to Detroit! So folklore, folklore is an album that I started writing about two days into the pandemic. I just, we all needed our methods of escapism, and that was one of mine. I just kind of needed to create, not just an album, but folklore was a state of mind for me. In my imagination, I could just escape to this sort of wooden cabin, in the middle of the forest, and I could just pretend like what was happening wasn't really happening. So that was basically the first step, was envisioning this album, and so it kind of became this imaginary vacation spot to go in my head, you know? And when I was writing these songs, I also kind of took a little vacation from the way that I usually write. I usually write about something I have personally gone through, and exactly how I felt about that, you know? So it was kind of fun to be able to write an album and sort of be like, 'Okay, maybe with this one, we'll sort of fictionalize it a little bit. I'll create characters. I can name them different things, and maybe we can have these different story arcs.' And there are a few songs that go together. There's this like, teenage love triangle threesome arc. And so I. created a story between those three characters, and you know, when I would try to come up with names, it was just easiest for me to pull names from my real life, so the names that were actually named after real people that I love very much were James, Inez, and Betty!"

It's a perfect day! We reached the BOSS level! 👑
