taylor didn't write, "romance is not dead if you keep it just yours" and "I'll save all my romanticism for my inner life" for you to take any of her highly publicised relationships seriously. .Like do we really think tay would let a real relationship be THIS public. she never did before, so why would she start now?
I was listening to loml and I started thinking about jemily (the ship name of two female fbi agents, Emily and jj, on criminal minds). Jj left Emily when jj thought she was in love with her new husband, Jj ends up pregnant and now feels like she has to stay in the relationship. and in my mind it's the song Emily would associate with Jj.
It reminds me of Kaylor. Taylor is singing to Karli. she's the lost of Taylor's life.
In my mind, both Kaylor and Jemily found their way back together despite the husbands and kids.
I think as a gaylor, the song imgonnatogetyouback is INSANELY queer.
"im going to pull you into the closet" she's going to closet her lover. Taylor cant be out so if they want to be lovers, they have to stay in the closet.
"Say you got somebody, I'll say I got someone too" Taylor is talking about bearding, specifically kaylor bearding. karli has her fruity little husband and taylor has her fruity little football player.
"You knew the price going in" Karli knew they'd have to stay a secret to the general public. they couldn't be out.
"Once you fix your face, I'm going in" she's talking to Karli, theres no quotations around it. she is saying to someone, someone isn't saying it to her.
"Push the reset button, we're becoming something new" Her and Karli are starting a relationship again. Karli was at the LA N2 eras tour and was seen backstage going to Taylor, that's where it started again. Karli is in Paris right now. so is Taylor. it's still new. it's still fresh. they're restarting what could've been.
"we broke all the pieces but we still want to play the game" They can't stay away from each other. The relationship fell apart but they're still going to the other.
she just keeps dropping hints if ya'll hetlors don't see it thats on you. Cause even if she did just turn out to be straight (which she obviously isn't) that would be a whole other problematic thing..... so which is she problematic or queer, which is worse to them?
So I came across this comment on a random reddit post…
I had never heard that before, but the first thing I thought of was all the pearl imagery in Taylor’s latest video.
Pearls, pearls & more pearls. Maybe something, maybe nothing at all. Just thought it was worth a share. ⚪️
*insert calvin harris's deleted twitter posts about losing a big old beard*
Actual footage of me seeing this come up on TikTok…..
"you can see HER with the lights out" she said it everytime!
As a kaylor having taylor looking up at karli throughout the last night of the eras tour in LA, especially during the folklore set, immortalized on disney+ to be watched whenever is really something. especially cause she knew it was being filmed and she decided to bring her girlfriend and she kept looking up at karli. She put karli up there so she could keep looking up at her!
I am so gay for them 😭😭😭😭
Interested to hear your interpretation on Suburban Legends
first off the song and beat sounds so similar to mastermind and gold rush. particularly mastermind. listen to the opening seconds back to back! she sings through a lot of it similarly in my opinion
and it has some of the similar mechanics of mastermind in that it leads you to believe the song is going one way but then pulls a switcheroo on you at the end and the swell in the music aids that at the end which makes it a really sweet and emotional listening experience. i’ll get to that in a second.
i think at the beginning of taylor knowing or being aware of karlie (so like, your kitchen or mine times), this was very much the situation. karlie is in her peripheral vision (on her radar) but just as taylor described in gold rush, karlie seemed like something utterly unattainable. in lover as well we get the line “i’m highly suspicious that everyone who sees you wants you” and i think this fits with this description of karlie.
i didn’t come here to make friends echoes their entire conceit of mastermind, and a lot of the kaylor discography that uses the word ‘friend’ — another way to say “i don’t want you like a best friend” etc
also this is a sort of throwaway point but “i didn’t come here to make friends” was a 2000’s reality tv phrase that came into popularity via the show America’s Next Top Model. it was iconic and soon every competitive reality tv show under the sun had contestants saying it.. but it’s origins are from a show about models! of which karlie is one.
more importantly, the “you kiss me in a way that’s gonna screw me up forever” is like the follow up to the gold rush “eyes like sinking ships on waters so inviting i almost jump in” language. it’s cruel summer’s “snuck in through the garden gate every night that summer just to seal my fate” because falling in love with karlie lead to taylor wanting her complications too
mismatched star signs works because fire signs traditionally match best with air signs. also visually, stars mismatched fits in with mastermind’s “the planets and the fates and all the stars aligned” — things that weren’t in alignment coming into alignment.
there’s a bunch of story page chapter stuff throughout taylor’s discography, some of which makes its way into kaylor but i’d probably write for way too long so i’m just gonna skip over that for now
this part might be a bit tricky but i sort of blame it on many kaylors not talking that much about really early kaylor possibilities out of (a sort of unearned) respect and the one way street principle of staying in our lane but the idea of taylor saying “i know that when you told me we’d get back together and kissed me that you remember[ed] we were born to be national treasures” isn’t that too wild of a statement if you imagine them as maybe briefly connecting or talking at some point before taylor made her plans to make karlie hers. indeed, we know their paths crossed several times before they were first connected at the 2013 vs fashion show.
*for posterity, i included the apple music lyrics as the genius lyrics appear to be worded partially incorrectly
this is the part of the song which i just think is so beautifully done. in particular i love the “you don’t knock anymore” of it all
at first it sounds like she’s saying karlie doesn’t knock anymore because she come around anymore, or this idea of there having been a breakup or a period of not being together or something sad, which is matched by the tone of how she sings it for the first time. the waves crashing to the shore feels like a storm.
but at the end of the repetition her voice becomes more upbeat and it dawns on you, you’re like, oh wait karlie doesn’t knock anymore because she doesn’t need to knock anymore, she has a key! (“is that your key in the door?” anyone?)
and suddenly the waves meeting the shore is a pleasant image of unification and happiness. she closes with the thought “you don’t knock anymore and i always knew it” which makes it feel a bit more like mastermind’s “you knew the entire time, and now you’re mine” — always knowing they would get together, taylor always knowing karlie was the one. “and my life had been ruined” is sung in a sort of sweet resignation, one that i find throughout a lot of kaylor music, the idea that she knows its complicated but that its what she chose.
so yeah! that’s why suburban legends is a kaylor song to me 😌

the post that inspired my "The Seven Husbands Of Taylor swift- A Comparative Essay" cause I'm obsessed and queer and a kaylor <3
“When Celia said she couldn’t have all of me, it was because I was selfish and because I was scared of losing everything I had. Not because I had two sides of me that one person could never fulfill. I broke Celia’s heart because I spent half my time loving her and the other half hiding how much I loved her." (Evelyn Hugo)
The seven husbands of Taylor Swift- a comparative essay.
so I know that this isn't my usual smut post and i've been kinda MIA but I've been reading The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo and there's many, many references to Taylor swift and/ or Kaylor so I want to write an essay on it. I am posting it to tumblr to give me a reason to finish it cause I never finish essays. this is just the opening paragraph (or half of it depending on if I add to it or the feed back I get back from my bestie), I've been working on my writing and I'm very proud of this so far. I hope you like it and I am open to feed back if you have any :)
Taylor swift, a woman whose closet is made of glass, and the fictional character Evelyn Hugho from “The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo” by Taylor Jenkins Reid, a woman who spent half her time loving Celia St. James and the other half hiding how much she loved her both have one thing in common, they fell in love with a woman while dating a man. It started in a closet at an awards show after being told her new friend, Celia St. james, is a lesbian Evelyn decided to confront the red haired woman which leads to a kiss. At some point between 2010-2012 Taylor and Karli met while Swift was dating her then beard Harry Styles, their first public interaction was on twitter on January 17th 2012 with Karli tweeting “hey @(Taylorswift13) love the @(vogue magazine) cover! Your kitchen or mine?”. Many fans often compare Evelyn and Taylor, they being two women who have had a secret relationship with a women (or multiple in Taylor’s case- Hey, dianna).
In other news, I have been reading through the 3 hour (!!!) gaylor powerpoint, and it is beautifully unhinged and ridiculous. It's perfect. No notes. Delusional masterpiece
Hey I noticed you write for Taylor Swift x fem!reader (lifesaver for that btw) so I was wondering if you're a Gaylor? Not hating no matter if you are or aren't
Hi!
Thank you for the comment! However, I don't really know. I really don't care. I write for her because I admire her a lot and all. I don't want to assume what her sexual orientation is. It is really none of my business. Thank you for the question, tho. I'm glad that I had the opportunity to clear that up.
Lover of Taylor swift❤️❤️
Taylor swift queer flagging part eight:
this will be the last part for a while. just until I find more or she debuts any new outfit!!!
Ok he’s soooooo right. Except this already happened, their names are John Lennon & Paul McCartney, and their doomed situationship is why we have some of the best music ever written 🤣
still worship this love
People saying the tortured poets department is somehow tied to Joe because of ONE word that coincides with Joe friends groupchat , but dismissing queer analysis of Taylor lyrics based on queer history and references and parallels that Taylor has done herself is wild to me.
We are all just guessing. Is just guessing. Hetlors are speculating as much as gaylors are.
The only difference is that gaylors get harrased because of that speculation
That album title is sooo gay
Sooo, I just read a post saying that gaylors are disgusting because they want to force Taylor out of the closet?? And that NYT should not have posted that article???
Let me get something clear, if you are closeted, you try and hide your queernes as much as you can. You dont go around singing about your agumentative, antithetical dream girl and wearing someone like a necklace. You dont talk about hairpin drops. You dont dress yourself in the bi pride flag colors and sing about wanting boys and girls. Is not something you do if you are closeted.
Forcing someone out of the closet is disgunting, thats for sure, the thing were this person is wrong is that we are not trying to force Taylor out of the closet. Forcing her would be something she does not agree on but since she has been putting all the queercoding and queer slang in her music (out there to listen and analize by everyone) and decide to do some things queer people use to identify each other and send signals in public, aware she is being watched by the whole world, I would argue that the talking about her probably being queer is consented by her.
Also, saying she is in a closet would mean she is secretive about it and trying to pass as straight, which I think I gave you enough examples as to why she is not secretive about it. Is out there to see. And because is out there to see, it is okay to talk about it. She put it out there. The NYT only talked about queercoding in her music, which is completely fine to talk to. She wrote that music and she released it. She filmed that videos. Chose that words. She is in control and she decided to leave hairpin drops as often as she could. The NYT was not outing her or anything, it was just doing a reading of a piece of art using certain simbology, that happens to be the queer one. And if we think about how the art and the artist are connected, is fair enough to wonder if she could be attracted to woman. She hints at it in her music!
Currently watching the Swiftologist reaction to the "Look what we made Taylor Swift do" article and I have to stop it and say something:
TAYLOR SWIFT HAS NOT STATED NOTHING IN THE MATTERS OF HER SEXUALITY
In the first few minutes he was already spreading missinformation, saying that Taylor has, in multiple times, said that she is straight. She has never done that. This really would not bother me so much if he did not went on about how gaylors use false information for our "conspiracy theories".
Excuse me, but queerflaging and queercoding is a thing that has been going on for as long as queer people have existed. One might think that being part of our community he would know that, but apparently, he does not. This is what queer people not knowing about the history of their own community does, this is why we need conversations about flagging and queerness to be open. We should be taught about it, it is part of human history after all, an important part of it. If you doubt it, just take a look at almost every important figure on history, they were most likely queer and it affected their life and how they shaped the world. Queerflagging is part of history, not a conspiracy theory.
Talking about conspiracy theories, we could say saying she is straight is as well a conspiracy theory if we are going to say gaylor is one. I mean, she has remained unlabled about her sexuality to the public, so is only fair to assume that she could be attracted to any gender as far as we know.
Gaylors dont claim to know Taylors sexual orientation. Hetlors are the one hyperfixated on her straightness and sexuality. Gaylor reads the work of Taylor Swift through queer lenses with the propouse of relating to her music in a deeper level. Hetlors claim she is straight even if she has not say that before and punish any other idea that diverse from that even if, as far as we know, that idea could be wrong.
Of course Taylor Swift is straight. Is totally straight to dress up as Sappho and hide in a glass closet to sing in the MV of the first track of your really queer album where you sing "thats my man" so many times that is just campy and ridculous considering how queercoded that lyrics are. Those gaylors are just taking it too far.
Hits diferent (HD) and I dont wanna live forever (IDWLF) might as well just be the same song separated in two.
Both of them have the same themes and imaginary. Both are about a girl deeply heartbroken that tries to party away the pain of the break up and then cries when it doesnt work.
Now, being stated that, we know that the songs on the midnight album are song that Taylor write in different times of her life, and noticing the similarities between HD and IDWLF, it only makes sense to think they were written at the exact same time, about the same situation and muse.
I know that IDWLF is a song for a film, but it can still apply to Taylors life and sitution, since she has stated that she writes from a personal experience. Maybe the song was intended to fit the plot of the movie but she probably took some of her own felings and experiences and putted them into it.
Also, both of them fit the narrative of 1989. She was out and about, partying eith the girlies and all the stuff and she was also heartbroken (like she stated in the vault tracks).
Now, I am about to dive into swifgron, so if you dont like it, I suggest you to stop reading now.
Taylor posted this video:
She made sure we wached the bunny. She even looked at the screen (with 0 discrepcion, may I add) to make sure it was there. You know whos nickname was bunny, you are right, Dianna Agron.
For the propose of this theory, I will take that as a confirmation that IDWLF is about Dianna (if people can make the case for ATW being about Jake because of a scarf or all 1989 about Harry for a few pap pictures, I guess we will have no problem making the case for Dianna and IDWLF based on that video).
Then, if IDWLF is basically the same song as HD (based on the parallels of their lyrics and all the stuff I pointed before) and if IDWLF muse is Dianna Agron then we could that Hits different is about Dianna Agron.
Thats it. Thats all I have to say today.
Disclaimer: this is just my interpretation and by sharing this I am not saying this is the truth or that Taylor said that to me or something like that. I am just reading and analising the art and content she putted out there.
So, Taylor Nation just posted a photo of Taylor in her birthday with tha caption "bejeweled girl at the birthday party" with the bejewel song too. Is she soft launching a Travlor break up with the articule about Travis having doubst, then he not being at her birthday party and now the bejewel caption???
I was just listening to suburban legends and, first thing first, what and absolute total banger. I genuinely cannot understand why I did not listen to this song more often. And second, the lyrics are like, really queer-coded.
The one that really called my attention was "1950s gymnasium". Now, if you dont know that, in the 1950s the lavander scare, a process where queer people where maked to be outcast on the society by the goverment, took place. People needed to hide and did not really know who to trust (since the people caught "guilty" were force by torture and manipulation to give names or other queer people), it was really a strugle. She says she is "standing in a 1950s gymnasium" like, trying to survive the scrutiny and navigaiting her life not knowing who to trust about her true self alongside other queer people. All together in one place, practicing not getting caught (and we all now that era was when Taylor was really bad at hiding her alleged relationships with women)
Then, theres the chorus. I didnt come here to make friends, when would you need to clarify that in a straight scenario? Almost never and, based on the lyrics, I dont think thats the case. And then the "you kissed me on a way thats gonna screw me up forever" its really deep if we read it as queer. Taylor queerness was an obstacle to her career, something that should be hidden and secretive because the consecuences of it being know were too catastrofic (like in the 1950s). Her queerness could screw her career and dreams forever, so that kiss (that I think represents her whole relationship with the muse) could screw her up forever, everything she has worked for could go away because of who she was in love with. Yet, when she hold her, it hold her together, so it was worth it.
Now in the second verse, there are (appart from the 1950s lyrics) a few things that caught my attention. First, the fantasy she has about surprising everyone with their mismatched sings, its a fantasy because it cannot happen. Its not posible, that is why it is a fantasy. Second, theres the lyric, "You'd be more than a chapter in my old diaries with the pages ripped out" she says "You'd" as in a way of hoping, like saying: if our love was not something we have to hide you will be more than a than a chapter in my old diaries with the pages ripped out. Now, this thing about ripping of pages of a diary is honestly heartbreaking. She feels so afraid, she needs to hide that much that she even erased any prove of her love from her diaries, one of the most personal things anyone could ever own, were you pour your feeling to yourself and yourself only; she could not even trust her diaries to keep her love secret.
To finish, we have to tie it all to the title: suburban legends. A history that everyones knows yet no one can tell if it is or not true, because there us no proof. It could be real or not, but everyone has heard of it. Taylor saying her and her muse were born to be suburban legends insinuates that the relationships she is singing about was secret, very few people knew that it existed for real (bacause it was not safe) but everyone heard the rumors about it.
Disclaimer: this is just my interpretation and by sharing this I am not saying this is the truth or that Taylor said that to me or something like that. I am just reading and analising the art she putted out there.
I just read a re-post of one of my post from a non-gaylor, and I would like to say it was a really good, respectful answer that explained their point of view perfectly and, by any means, this post is an attemp to start beef or anything.
Being said that, one of the points that really standed out to me was how some fans would "force a queer identity on her" (not quoting them, just summarizing) and how twisting lyrics to hold a narrative or using certain interpretation of a song, was not healthy, in reference to the connection I made to the album midnights and Taylors queerness.
Now, I would like to ask, isnt twisting a lyric to fit a narrative how people started saying that Taylor was the "argumentative antithetical dream girl" she refers to in hits different, when is crearly (and is a question of grammar and basic language comprension) refering to the muse of the song?
Bet I could still melt your world, argumentative antithetical dream girl. Are you kidding me?? How could you posible say this makes sense if she was refering to herself???
Then, the paternity test constantly done by swifties to look for the muse of a song is nothing more than a certain interpretation of the lyric to fit the narrative. So that is not a thing exclusive to gaylors, almost every swiftie does it.
Now, that is what I like to call a double standard. I am not shaming the original autor of the post that have inspired this text, but pointing out a more societal problem. Very often, speculation and shipping and reading into things, if done in a hetero way is okay but do not dare to do it in a way that relates to queerness.
About the "forcing a queer identity on her", there is a thing, done through history called flagging. Safo was doing it in ancient Grecee, so did Oscar Wilde and more recently Elton John or James Dean. There are signals of the queer community to signal discretely to other lgbtq+ that they are one of them.
Taylor is not subtle about her flagging. She went out in a bi pride colored jacket to sing "and you can want who you want, boys and boys and girls and girls". She did sing about wearing someone like a necklace. She did spray paint her paint the bi colors to her gay pride music video. Use the lyric hair pin drop more than once. She puts lesbian flag colors as the main lighting in her world wide tour. And much much more. Is obvious, really out there for the people who want to see it to see.
Once you see that, you have no option but to hope she is queer; because if she was not, she would only be a straight girl that harmed the queer comunity by taking all the simbolisim that lgbtq+ people have built througt the ages and making it hetero to the mainstream, erasing the very little history the comunity has managed to create in the opressed world that it had have to endure.
So, even if I think that the answer to my previous post was really well written and respectful, I do not think it is a really nuance take.
PD: To the person behind the original blog that posted the answer, if you have read this and recognised yourself on it, just know this is not a personal attack and I apologize before hand if that felt like that to you.
