If never gonna give you up doesn’t play in S5 what is the point of the show? Like Byler can happen but if never gonna give you up just isn’t in S5 then it’s a 0/10 for me
Envisioning this as Mike, Will, and El idc idc
It’s not even Twitter, TikTok is saying shit like “just because your ship didn’t become canon” I am done. I talked about how it felt forced in Mike’s monologue and everyone kept on telling me “you ship byler stay mad” like it’s not about Byler it’s about how forced that monologue felt and how it felt like a Wattpad fanfic. These people are fucking annoying
I’ve been messing around with screenshots in PS Express and I realized some interesting things about this shot specifically:
Here is the unedited screenshot.
Now of course I wanted to check for the yellow and blue in this shot. It’s a bit subtle in the unedited version, but when I up the saturation for the yellow and blue tones you’ll notice that Will’s side is yellow and Mike’s is blue.
With the yellow pulled up and teal pulled down
With the yellow pulled down and the teal pulled up.
Admittedly there is a lot more teal than blue, which is interesting considering that teal is closer to green. There is actually a lot of green in this shot as well, here is the image with the saturation pulled all the way up which really emphasizes all of the green.
What was also interesting to me was just how much Will was in the light and Mike was in the dark, and how their costumes contribute to that. Will is dressed in light colors, while Mike’s black pants specifically really brings him into the shadows a lot more.
Here’s what it looks like when I crushed the blacks. Will is still pretty visible while Mike is almost completely lost.
Just thought this was a fun little study. It’s interesting to see how color grading and post ends up contributing to deeper meanings as well.
Guys, Noah doesn’t write the show. The script for S5 is not even conceived yet anyways. So please stop freaking out, if S5 was coming out in 2 days I would have believed it, but it’s gonna be 2 years. Noah doesn’t know what really happens and he doesn’t have special access to anything. He is an actor.
The only thing I really believe from Noah, regarding Byler, is that Will is gay and in love with Mike. Something that is really obvious. So for now, I want you guys to breathe and just chill. Okay? Noah doesn’t write the show, he is an actor, not a writer and S5 hasn’t been conceived yet, so don’t think this is a loss
Needs to be said because people are STILL panicking
friendly reminder that twitter user swiftlynatalia is full of shit! her “leaks” that she uses to promote her credibility are usually mooched off of reddit and her “inside source” has never been confirmed to exist. she’s also historically anti-mike/will so anything she says in regards to them i would take with a hefty pinch of salt.
as for the noah and millie interview where they talk circles around will being gay - yeah, it would be great if they could just confirm it and not act like it’s some huge plot point, but they’re under contract not to spoil things. if they’re told not to talk about it, they can’t talk about it. it’s not a big deal that they won’t say anything definitive.
tl;dr, no one who knows anything real about volume 2 can speak about it, and anyone who’s speaking about it doesn’t know anything real. relax.
This whole post made me take a step back and think. Thank you. I think we overreacted a little when this Volume came out. I will say I still do not like Volume 2 that much because idk, but this does make me like it a little.
Will is not being used as a plot device for Mileven, it’s the other way around.
insanely steaming hot take but the Will / El / Mike arc was kinda insanely well done
We know Will is the main character in season 5, he was already disliked before by alot of the audience and was battling homewrecker crybaby allegations. Us seeing Will be self sacrificial for the sake of a fan favorite ship / character (Eleven) + willing to suffer for the sake of the ones he cares about makes the audience sympathize with him . Seeing someone suffer even though they're nice to everyone makes us want good things to happen to them.
If they had gone with the route of pushing for Byler , Mike and especially Will would be hated by everyone and that would not be good since they're literally going to be main characters in season 5. Nobody would want to see their relationship get fleshed out because they don't like them.
In the two episodes Will managed to beat homewrecker and useless allegations 🤞 and also become a more liked character that the audience *wants* good things to happen to , it hyped the audience for what's next to come for him
This season put alot and I mean alot of emphasis on Mike's facial expressions. Whenever he's talking to someone whether that be Will or Eleven they make a point to show the differences in his gaze . Even blind viewers are starting to see how Mike looks distant or faking when he's with El compared to genuine and loving with Will
Mike once again being clueless in the car and with Will in general was a good move, the audience would once again dislike Mike and Will therefore wouldn't want to see them in S5 if Byler started getting pushed when Milkvan was still going . more on this later
Mike's love confession being stale and poorly written and full of lies to the point where the general audience is picking up on how the entire thing can get disproved by Mike's own words ??
Wills "confession" being the catalyst for Mike's confession but it not working
Mike's confession being exactly what El wanted to hear, Eleven ( the fan favorite) got what she wanted , but she didn't like it , in a literal sense Mike's "love" is not enough
The general audience would only ever be okay with a Milkvan breakup if it was initiated by El , throwing everything at Mileven and it not sticking was intentional
El gets what she wants. Her love confession, but it's full of lies someone else's words, there's a large disconnect
A big emphasis was put on a sibling bond between El and Will , so much so it was brought up multiple times, this connects back to "Will beating homewrecker allegations" point
El becoming more independent, alot of Milkvans are Eleven stans and adore her, season 3 I've noticed is a favorite because she is so much happier and independent instead of crying over Mike . Her finding her power in her relationship with Max (whom once again was a big part of her finding independence in season 3)
The emphasis on family (Papa vs Hopper) her hug with Will being a bigger deal than her hug with Mike
"Not Mike, Not Hopper, You." "There's more to life than stupid boys"
The only way hardcore Milkvans would be okay with their ship falling is if it was initiated by Eleven for her to have her independence and no longer be held down by Mike which is what the end scenes are alluding to
I missed alot and this is all over the place but the structure and the way things are going (it byler is going to be canon) is actually kinda fantastic
I went into the Mike&ikes tag…
Currently listening to “Something I can never have” by Nine inch nails because that’s how I feel about Byler rn. However, a part of me still has hope and yet I don’t want to. I wanna ship this ship without needing canon cause fuck canon. The fix it fics are fixing it for me. So maybe I’m crazy and I am. But whatever. I just wanna ship Byler now in peace and not consider Vol 2 canon.
(I was a fan of Miraculous Ladybug, I thought I was trained about this outcome?)
Seriously I need them
Murray who? im still waiting for that Will and Robin interaction.
I use she/theyThe bisexuality is strong with this oneSonic fan dubs and Kurtis Conner are the only things I laugh at anymore
