"The Best Bean" Still needs binding This one is very near and dear to my heart. Way back in 2019 my partner adopted a cat (from my roommates at the time) named Mella. As you do, I gave her the silly nickname of "The Vamella Bean". After a few months of kitty name telephone her nickname just became Bean. When this tag started cropping up around town we would joke that that she would sneak out the house and do this while we were gone. Unfortunately we lost Miss Mella to illness in 2020. It use to make me sad to see this tag around but now I just smile and remember Miss Mella- truly the best Bean.

So I've finished it! It's been done for a while now, but... I need some constructive criticism. It also doesn't stand up very well, which I'm wondering would be a bad selling point if I made the pattern.
I think he's cute though, and I don't have the heart to undo all that work lol.

This piece came about as an attempt to visually depict how I experience music. Possibly due to my Autism, I do not seem to listen to/experience music the way other people I have discussed this topic with experience music. I recognize that there is an underlying meter, a rhythm, a beat, that allows a person to "follow the music;" the beat is also what people follow when they dance. I can force myself to identify and follow a beat, but it requires significant concentration on my part, is not what comes naturally to me, and is not how I enjoy listening to music. My attention often skips back and forth between different sounds, following the bass sounds for several moments because I enjoy that specific section, then switching focus to the crescendo of a violin, to the sound of the singer's voice, the drums, back to violin, bass, voice, a new sound.
By connecting colors, patterns, and material to specific aspects of a musical piece, I have attempted to create a depiction of my experience of the music.
(I also decided to leave the edges of the different photos I took, to give an impression of the number of images needed to create a decent representation of this weaving.)
Second panel of fabric. Next step involves getting out my sewing machine so Iāve been avoiding it and fucking about with others projects instead.

Iāve sewn the two panels together and, as you can see, there is a bit of a discrepancy in the length of the right hand panel!
My next step is to attempt hemming the ends on the sewing machine and then trimming them down to an even length.
A hallway rug, made with yarn from old t-shirts. Itās roughly 8ft long and took about a day to make. Iāve decided itās too narrow, so Iām gonna make a second and then sew them together down the middle.
