Sometimes your mind can be your biggest enemy. Your thoughts can bring you down faster than even your strongest opponent.
You would know, you were part of the X-men. You had fought plenty on missions. Being a mutant wasnât easy physically or mentally.
Sometimes though they would hit you at the same time. So much so that your questioning how something physically can impact you so emotionally.
It started small. A brush of a hand on that small scar on your arm. A glimpse in the mirror when youâre getting ready. Or someones eyes linger a little to long at the scars that you hadnât meant to show when your shirt had ridden up.
You pushed your feelings away though. Put them to the back of your mind until it was to much to ignore. And you thought you had done a good job in not showing that something was bothering you. But you should have known better to think Kurt wouldnât notice.
He knew you better than most. You were attached to the hip since the first moment you met, and only seemed to grow closer after you had turned your friendship into something more. He never judged you. It always felt like he just understood. He just saw you, y/n L/n. You were the same to him. Never judge mental and always so caring and loving. He fell in love with your kindness. And for just being you. He was Kurt, your best friend and the love of your life.
So why would you think he wouldnât notice? Perhaps you were to focused on not focusing on it that it showed either way.
He could tell something had been weighing on you. You could keep a level head and go about your day, but he could see those moments where you slipped up. When you picked at your clothes, fidgeted with anything near by, or when you seem to be lost in space and have to take a breather before you continue with your task.
He wasnât sure what had been bothering you but he was determined to help you in anyway you needed. Which brought him to your room. It was late but he knew you would be up. He could still see your light on under the door.
Usually he just popped in with his powers, only because you trusted him, but this time he knocked on your door softly. He wasnât sure of the problem yet so he wanted to approach this carefully.
There was no reply from your side and he didnât hear any movement. He quietly opened the door and peaked in. He could see your form lying in bed. You had curled yourself up, eyes closed, your hands gripping your pillow under your head, and a frown on your face.
You were so consumed in your thoughts you hadnât heard Kurt come in.
Today was long and stressful, which only made it easier for the thoughts you had buried to come digging there way up to the surface again.
As soon as you got to your room you lazily changed into your comfy clothes. Just wanting to sleep it all away. But the mirror you had in the corner of your room caught your eyes. And you could see a little glimpse of yourself.
You didnât even realize when you had walked up to it. You just stood in front of it, eyeing the scars that littered some parts of you.
You didnât have to see them to know where they were either. You knew where every single one was, even if it wasnât visible in the mirror now.
You knew them all. And every story that came with them. Some werenât as bad. They reminded you of the times you had made a dumb mistake or just a funny accident. Then there were those that came from your job, going on missions. Those werenât all bad but some of them were close calls and you didnât like to think about them for to long. But then there were the ones that held your worst memories. They didnât just scar you physically but mentally and emotionally as well. Those were harder to ignore, didnât matter how big or small. In a way they still hurt.
And today was one of those days where you wished you didnât have that reminder. You wished they werenât permanent. You didnât always mind when they were there. But on bad days your thoughts would consume you.
At some point you just curled up on your bed, just as Kurt found you, and tried to make them go away. You didnât want to look at yourself. So you close your eyes, not wanting to catch a glimpse in the mirror again.
Kurt didnât want to startle you so he knocked again. Your body tensed up a little and he knew you heard.
âMy love, can I come in?â He spoke softly.
You tried to calm yourself and grabbed the blanket at the end of your bed bringing it over your legs and torso.
âOf course.â You smiled at him as he closed the door and made his way over to you, trying to seem calm and collected. But the smile didnât reach your eyes.
He gave a smile of his own anyways and sat at the end of the bed. He didnât want to jump right into it so he just gently took your hand, caressing the back of it with his thumb.
You couldnât help but melt a little at his gentle touch. No one had ever been so gentle and kind to you as he has. You squeezed his hand a little, wanting to just fall in his arms right then and there.
âHow was your day? I didnât get to see you very much.â He still had a smile on his face, that sweet, genuine smile that says âIâm listening, I want to know.â You wanted to cry just seeing him.
âIt wasâŚokay. Just busy, you know how it gets.â You shrugged lightly trying to ignore that tired sinking feeling in your stomach. Youâd been trying to do that for awhile now.
He knew that wasnât all of it, but he didnât want to push to much. He brushed some hair away from your face, letting his knuckles caress the side of your cheek. âIs there anything I can do?â
His hand that was holding yours made its way up your arm, gently rubbing them up and down. You were going to answer but he brushed over a spot and you froze for a second. You felt those thoughts rear their ugly heads again. âHow could he so easily touch me, touch them, and it not bother him?â
âNo, itâs fine. Really. Iâve got it handled.â You brought your hand back sticking your arms under the blanket. You brought your legs up and held them against you. He noticed and it hurt a little, not knowing why you pulled away from him.
âMy love, you know that you can talk to me, right? I want to help you in anyway I can. In any way you need me too. Are you sure there isnât something thatâs been weighing on you?â
He reached for you once more but hesitated, not knowing if you were comfortable with that right now. You thought over his words trying to decide if you should tell him. Tell him how much itâs been eating at you. You couldnât quite look at him. Your eyes becoming slightly glossy.
âI-,â you stopped and bit your lip, feeling a small lump in your throat. He brought his hand up and slowly lifted your chin, giving you the chance to pull away if you wanted. You didnât move away and let him take your lip out from between your teeth.
âIâm right here, whenever youâre ready.â That did it for you. The tears started rolling down your face. All the pent up emotions spilling over. Kurt moved to sit in front of you now.
You didnât look up at him. And he let you cry as much as you needed.
When you started to calm down a little you finally looked up at him again. Worry and concern was written all over his face. All he wanted was to hold you.
âIâm sorry, I justâŚâ you wiped the salty tears form your cheeks but only more took their place. âHow can you love me? How can you be so okay with it? With me? How can you look at me and touch me? I hate it! Donât you?!â
Kurt was a little shocked at your outburst, and heartbroken by your words. He tried to meet your eyes but you only sank into yourself further.
âHow could I not love you? You are my favorite human being Iâve ever had the honor to meet. You are so incredibly kind and hold so much love for the people around you. Even if you donât know them. And you love me more than I thought anyone could love me. You are caring, funny, sweet, intelligent, and beautiful. How could I not look at you? What is it that bothers you so much about yourself my love?â He spoke softly, and lovingly.
You still wouldnât look up, not wanting to see his face as you muttered your next words. âMy scars.â You held yourself a little tighter. âHe must realize what I mean now.â You think to yourself.
But how could you think that. Your Kurt. Your sweet, dorky, lovable Kurt. He takes your hand once again, and this time you didnât pull away.
He didnât stop there. He turned your palm upwards and pulled it towards him. Before he continued he gave you a questioning look. Silently asking if this was okay. You nodded, confused and a little hesitant, but you trusted him.
He leaned down pressing his lips against your scar. He felt you freeze once again and thought you were going to pull away. But you didnât move a muscle, so he continued. With every kiss you felt more tears fill your eyes. And you couldnât help the blush that made its way up your neck, ears, and cheeks.
He didnât stop, even pecking the skin that wasnât scarred along the way. He moved the blanket off you and pushed you to lay on your back. You just watched, as he tried to kiss away the pain and the thoughts that plagued your mind. They couldnât ruin this moment though. Not for you. Not this time.
He kissed right above your knee, then eventually your stomach, then just below your collarbone. He held the side of your face with his hand as he left gentle kisses along your neck and jaw. He pecked you on your forehead, cheeks, and then your nose. You laughed softly as he nudged his nose against yours.
He whispered softly against your lips. âI love every part of you. All of you is beautiful inside and out. I know I canât make those thoughts go away completely, but Iâll always be here to constantly remind you how wonderful and beautiful you are.â You both closed your eyes as he leaned his forehead against yours.
He caressed a certain scar on your side. âI remember this one. I still feel guilty about it.â You laughed tearfully. âIt wasnât your fault. I made you teleport us so we could sneak away.â He smiled at the memory. âBut we ended getting an earful from the professor.â
âYes, but that was also the night you gave me my first kiss.â You opened your eyes only to see him staring down at you, so full of love and warmth for you. You brought your hands up to cradle his face.
That was one of your favorite memories. Maybe, with time, you could learn to love them too.
âI love you.â âThank you.â
He smiled softly and leaned forward.
âI love you too.â âAll of you, forever.â
He closed the gap between you and kissed you. You sighed as you melted into the kiss. You wrapped your arms around his neck, pulling him closer, if that was even possible. He happily obliged still gently caressing your side.
You knew it would take time, and you would still have your bad days. But you could do it, especially with Kurt. Because Kurt loved you, all of you, and you were so grateful for him. You didnât have to say it. He could feel it as you kissed him and held him in your arms.

Synopsis: When a charming newcomer to the team takes a little too much interest in you, Kurt Wagner finds himself battling an unfamiliar feelingâjealousy. His usual calm demeanor wavers as he awkwardly tries to mask his growing frustration. Despite his best efforts to stay composed, his swishing tail and brooding glances give him away. It doesnât take long for you to notice, and when you confront him about it, he shyly admits his feelings, afraid he might have overstepped. Reassuring him that your heart belongs to him, you manage to turn his jealousy into a moment of tenderness, leaving Kurt flustered but undeniably happy.
The laughter in the rec room was lively, everyone enjoying a rare moment of peace. You had found yourself in conversation with a charming newcomerâsomeone fresh to the team and eager to make connections. They were easy to talk to, asking questions about your work and hobbies, their attention focused solely on you.
Across the room, Kurt tried to stay engaged with the small group he was sitting with, but his golden eyes kept darting to you. It wasnât hard to miss how the newcomer leaned a little closer to hear you better, their smile a little too wide for Kurtâs liking. His tail swished sharply behind him, nearly knocking over a nearby chair.
âEasy there, Kurt,â Jubilee teased, nudging him with her elbow. âWhatâd that chair ever do to you?â
He cleared his throat, attempting to mask his irritation. âIt is...nothing. Just stretching.â
His attempt at nonchalance failed miserably as his gaze returned to you, watching as the newcomer made you laughâa laugh Kurt adored hearing. He tried to busy himself by sipping his soda, only to realize heâd drained the can in one go.
âAre you okay, Wagner? You look like youâre gonna pop a vein,â Logan grumbled, not bothering to hide his smirk.
âI am fine,â Kurt insisted, though his tail betrayed him by thumping against the floor.
Finally, you noticed Kurtâs unusual behavior. Excusing yourself from the conversation, you crossed the room and plopped into the empty seat beside him. âWhatâs with all the glaring?â you teased, leaning a little closer.
âI was not glaring,â he protested, though his ears flushed a deeper blue.
âOh, really? Then what do you call this?â You mimicked his brooding expression, furrowing your brows and squinting your eyes.
He sighed, his tail curling around one of the chair legs. âI suppose... I may have been a little jealous,â he admitted, avoiding your gaze. âYou are...very special to me, and I did not like the way they were looking at you.â
A warm smile spread across your face. âKurt, you donât have to worry about that. I was just being polite. Besides...â You placed a gentle hand on his arm. âYouâre the only one who gets my attention like that.â
His golden eyes lit up at your words, the tension in his shoulders melting away. âReally?â
âReally.â
Kurtâs tail unwound from the chair and hesitantly wrapped around your wrist, a shy but affectionate gesture that made your heart flutter. His smile, wide and full of relief, was worth every moment of teasing him earlier.
Unable to resist the adorable way his ears flushed and his golden eyes lit up, you leaned closer and pressed a soft kiss to his cheek.
Kurt froze, his tail snapping upright before swinging sharply to the sideâand knocking over the chair he had been sitting on moments ago.
The loud clatter turned every head in the room, but Kurtâs wide, sheepish grin as he looked back at you made it impossible for you to feel embarrassed.
âWas that your tail or the chairâs fault this time?â you teased, biting back a laugh.
âIt is both,â he stammered, ears darkening to an even deeper blue. âBut mostly the tail.â
His flustered reaction only made you laugh harder, leaning into him as he rubbed the back of his neck. Even with the eyes of the room on you both, Kurtâs gaze never left yours, his smile growing softer by the second.
The living room was filled with the scent of pine and the soft hum of Christmas music. You were perched on a step stool, reaching to hang a snowflake ornament on one of the higher branches. Scott stood behind you, holding the box of decorations, watching you with an amused but cautious expression.
âYou know,â he said, âif you fall, I canât catch you. Iâm holding fragile glass ornaments here.â
âYou could try to catch me,â you shot back, placing the snowflake and hopping off the stool. âBesides, Iâm nimble.â
Scott raised an eyebrow. âNimble enough to handle the tinsel? Because last year, it looked like a five-year-old threw it on the tree.â
âHey!â You grabbed a handful of the shiny strands. âItâs called artistic expression. Watch and learn.â
He didnât have to watch long before you gleefully tossed the tinsel into the air, letting it cascade haphazardly onto the branches.
Scott pinched the bridge of his nose. âYou cannot be serious.â
âDead serious,â you said, smirking as you grabbed more tinsel. âAnd if you donât like itââ
You flung another handful, this time deliberately aiming for his head.
Scott sighed dramatically, pulling a stray strand off his visor. âYou do this to torment me, donât you?â
âAbsolutely.â You laughed, leaning in to kiss his cheek before grabbing another handful of tinsel and sprinting to the other side of the tree.
The soft glow of fairy lights framed the edges of your room as you stirred awake, blinking against the dim light. Before you could properly sit up, a burst of brimstone filled the air, and Kurt appeared at the foot of your bed, arms overflowing with brightly wrapped presents.
âGuten Morgen! Merry Christmas!â he exclaimed, his tail wagging behind him like an overexcited puppy.
You sat up, rubbing your eyes. âKurt, itâs barely six in the morning.â
âBut itâs Christmas!â he insisted, depositing the pile of gifts at the foot of your bed. His golden eyes sparkled with excitement as he plopped down on the edge of the mattress, bouncing slightly. âCome, open them! I cannot wait to see what you think.â
You yawned, smiling at his enthusiasm. âYou carried all of these in one trip?â
âOf course! I teleported. Efficient and festive,â he said proudly, his tail curling in contentment.
You reached for the first gift, marveling at the careful wrapping. âYou wrapped these yourself?â
His ears turned a deeper blue. âJa...well, mostly. Jubilee helped me tie the ribbons.â
As you opened the first presentâa beautifully carved wooden trinketâyou couldnât help but laugh. âThis is amazing, Kurt. Did you make this too?â
He beamed. âJa, but thereâs more! Keep going!â
You shook your head fondly, already knowing this would be the best Christmas morning youâd ever had.
You found Logan crouched in front of the fireplace, carefully stacking logs with an intensity that made it look like he was preparing for battle rather than a cozy evening. His plaid flannel shirt was rolled up at the sleeves, revealing his scarred but capable hands.
âNeed some help there, lumberjack?â you teased, leaning against the doorframe.
âNot unless you can make the wood light itself,â he shot back without looking up.
âMatches are a thing, you know.â
âMatches are cheating.â He struck a piece of flint against steel, and sparks flew. After a few more tries, the fire roared to life, casting a warm glow across the room.
âVery impressive,â you said, walking over and sitting cross-legged on the rug. âWhatâs next? Are you going to chop more wood with your claws?â
He smirked, finally turning to look at you. âIf you ask nicely.â
Reaching into your pocket, you pulled out a Santa hat and plopped it onto his head. He frowned, his hand immediately going up to pull it off.
âLeave it,â you said, grabbing his wrist. âItâs festive.â
âItâs ridiculous,â he grumbled but didnât take it off.
You tilted your head, grinning. âYou secretly love Christmas, donât you?â
âDonât push your luck, kid,â he muttered, but there was a twinkle in his eye that told you otherwise.
You shouldâve known asking Peter to hang the lights would end in chaos.
âPeter, slow down!â you yelled, watching as he zipped back and forth across the room, leaving a blur of glowing string lights in his wake.
âThis is efficient,â he called back, draping the lights haphazardly over the furniture. âYou said you wanted them up fast, right?â
âI also said I wanted them to look nice!â
He stopped abruptly, standing in the middle of the room with the lights tangled around his torso. âNice is overrated. Messy is more... artistic.â
You crossed your arms, giving him a pointed look. âYouâre tangled, arenât you?â
Peter looked down, as if just noticing the strands wrapped around him. âUh...no?â
âUh-huh.â
He sighed dramatically, throwing his hands up. âFine, maybe a little.â
Laughing, you walked over and started untangling him, trying not to laugh too hard when he pouted like a child.
âYou know,â he said as you freed him, âif youâd just let me do my thing, weâd already be done.â
âAnd if I let you do your thing, the mansion would probably catch fire.â
He shrugged, smirking. âWorth it."
Unseen Beauty

Love you and enjoy kits! Requested by @hulkingharbor
You find Kurt sitting alone on the mansionâs steps, his tail curled tightly around him, head lowered as he absently traces patterns in the stone. His usual cheerful demeanor seems to have vanished, replaced with a quiet sadness that tugs at your heart.
âKurt?â you say softly, sitting beside him. He looks up, and thereâs a flicker of surprise in his yellow eyes before he quickly glances away.
âAh, Iâm sorry,â he mutters, trying to muster a smile. âI did not mean to be such⌠gloomy company.â
You shake your head. âYouâre never gloomy company. But somethingâs obviously on your mind.â
For a moment, he hesitates, and then, as if he can no longer hold it in, he sighs, his shoulders slumping. âItâs just⌠some things people said,â he murmurs, his voice tinged with lingering hurt. âThat I look⌠frightening. A âmonsterâ.â He swallows, the words barely audible. âSometimes it is hard not to see myself that way, too.â
Your heart aches at the pain in his voice. Without thinking, you reach over, gently touching his hand, offering silent reassurance until he finally meets your gaze.
âKurt, thatâs not true. Youâre not frightening; youâre beautiful.â
He blinks, caught off guard, and a faint blush colors his cheeks. âYou donât have to say that, you know,â he says, half-smiling, though thereâs a flicker of hope in his eyes.
You smile, holding his hand a little tighter. âI want to say it. The way you smile, the kindness in your eyes, the way you care about everyone around you⌠thatâs what makes you so beautiful. And anyone who doesnât see that? Theyâre the ones who are missing something.â
His eyes soften, and he looks down, a small, genuine smile breaking through the sadness. âYou really think so?â
âAbsolutely,â you say, your voice firm. âEvery part of youâyour laugh, your heart, even your tailâmakes you who you are. And who you are is beautiful, Kurt.â
Slowly, his hand relaxes in yours, and his smile grows, warmer now, with a hint of his usual brightness. He lets out a deep breath, the tension easing from his shoulders. âThank you,â he whispers. âYou do not know how much it means to me.â
You squeeze his hand. âAnytime, Kurt. Youâre precious to me. Donât let anyone convince you otherwise.â
As he smiles back at you, the sadness fades, replaced by a quiet gratitude and a spark of confidence you hope will stay with him long after tonight.

A soft whimper stirs you from sleep, faint yet unmistakable. Blinking, you sit up, the dim light from the hallway spilling just enough into your room to reveal a figure curled up in the chair by the door. Even in the shadows, the familiar silhouetteâhis curled tail, his fur-covered arms hugging himself tightlyâtells you itâs Kurt.
âKurt?â you murmur, voice soft so as not to startle him.
He flinches, his head lifting slightly as his golden eyes meet yours, still clouded with remnants of whatever nightmare had him in its grip. His hands shake, gripping his arms as though grounding himself. His voice is barely a whisper. âI⌠I did not mean to disturb you.â
âYouâre not disturbing me,â you say, easing yourself off the bed and crossing the room. Kneeling down in front of him, you reach out, gently resting your hand on his. âDid you have a nightmare?â
He nods, looking away, shame edging his gaze. âIt⌠it was about the circus,â he admits, voice tight with remembered pain. âSometimes, it still haunts me. The cage, the⌠the crowds, their faces full of fear and hatred. They treated me like an animal, like a⌠monster.â His voice cracks, barely able to hold back the shame that lingers from all those years.
You squeeze his hand. âKurt, youâre not a monster. You never were.â
He closes his eyes, as if the words are something he wants to believe but hasnât fully accepted. âIt was not just their words,â he says, his voice strained. âTheyâthere were nights I would not get food, times I was⌠punished. I still feel the ache from it sometimes, like phantome in my bones.â
Your heart aches, and without a second thought, you pull him into a gentle embrace, wrapping your arms around him. He tenses, surprised, before finally allowing himself to relax into your touch, his breathing gradually evening out as he settles in your arms.
âThey were wrong,â you murmur softly against his shoulder. âThose people were cruel, Kurt. But youâre safe now. Youâre with people who care about you, who see you for who you truly are.â
He sighs, his head leaning against you, seeming to absorb every word. âIt is⌠hard to remember that sometimes,â he says softly, his voice vulnerable in a way youâve rarely heard before. âI know I am here, but⌠it is easy to feel like I am back there again.â
You run your hand down his back gently, hoping to chase away whatever ghosts linger there. âThen Iâll be here to remind you,â you say firmly. âWhenever you need, Iâll remind you that youâre loved, that youâre worthy of kindness, of respect, of happiness. I wonât let you go back to that placeânot in your mind, not ever.â
He looks at you, and this time his gaze holds something like hope. âDanke,â he whispers, voice thick. âI do not know what I have done to deserve someone like you.â
âYou donât have to do anything, Kurt,â you say, giving his hand one last squeeze. âYou just have to let yourself be loved. Can you do that?â
After a moment, he nods, leaning into you a little more. For tonight, the shadows from his past fade, and as he drifts back to sleep beside you, his breathing finally at peace, you know he believesâif only a little bitâthat heâs safe and loved.
