I'm happy to hear !!! From both of you !! Right now I'm loving it really and my friends are all helping me out. I have another character from the same universe that is inspired by Metal Sonic instead! Metal is a bit of a Silver and Espio situation but I know a bit more lore lol. The universe is set in the Advent NEON game which is a Sonic based game so by all means it felt more than due for me to get the knowledge either way in order to get a better understanding of both the settings and my characters. I'm currently writing the lore doc with my sibling and will continue to do so as I play and read more about Sonic and media alike! All while excitedly waiting for Advent NEON to come out this year !! Side note, I'm starting to love the idea of Golfball having Sonic blogs, so have a doodle as a thank you! I'm all hyped up to scroll for more essays while I play the games!!
Hallo! Sorry for the prob long ask that I'll end up writing, I'm a bit of a yapper! Hope I don't disturb you while busy!
I've always been interested in Sonic since I was a kid but never enough to go full brainrot about it. Like, I remember forcing my parents to wake up earlier so that I could watch Sonic Underground every morning before kindergarten, and then equally force them to watch Sonic X every day on YouTube on the SmartTV during lunch. But that was about it, never really played the games (if you count Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games for the DS lmao) or read the comics. THAT IS until right now thanks to my online sibling and my other friends who encouraged me to explore this fixation that was not allowed to fully bloom. (I started with Sonic 06 like the masochist I am and also because I love Silver but never even attempted to consume a single media of him. Same for Espio but that will come later once I touch other Sonic games after 06)
I apologize for the detour, but what I wanted to say is that finding you, blurredblu and other blogs alike is actively doing WONDERS to my knowledge, and to that I thank you. Especially because one of my OCs is supposed to be an avid Sonic fan (another reason for me to get more into Sonic) and hence mimic aspects of his personality out of admiration and/or coping. TL;DR thank you so much for all your work and essays! The way you and blurredblu speak and explain is exactly how I see Golfball (my OC in quesiton) defending his claims and sharing his knowledge lol! Thank you!
thanks so much! I'm very glad you got something out of my posts. analyzing Sonic is very fun and enriching for me because it helps me understand exactly why I love Sonic so much. I'm sure @blurredblu appreciates the shout as well! they have a way with words and inspired me to write my first essay about Sonic. :)

Small Dad says that the doctor says that I have a extra tummy where food doesn’t go but everything else does and that’s where all my bug friends go. I don’t eat Big a lot because he’s too big especially after I eat a lotta food. But I ate this morning so it’s ok.

While the Arcanine was talking, Star had decided to roll themselves up off of the ground, shaking off the dust and taking a moment to relocate their pet beetle Big before picking them up and letting it crawl on their back. They were honestly getting very bored of these random strangers talking to them and a little hungry as well, thinking they should probably head back home for a snack.

A Stink bug? What stink bug? Where???
Confused, Starflower looked around, then looked back at the Arcanine for a moment and followed his gesture to Big, who at this point was resting in their fur.
“St—“
“STINK BUG?!”
It was as if a switch had been flicked in that moment. One would’ve thought Star had used Hyper Voice with how loud they suddenly barked at the Arcanine! Whipping their tiny body around and huffing at the dog, they continued their barking in full force.
“BIG ISNT A STINK BUG, YOU BIG POOP-HEAD! STINK BUGS BELONG TO THE “PEN-TOMATO” FAMILY! BIG IS A HERCULES BEETLE AND THEY BELONG IN THE “DYE-NASTY” FAMILY!!”
They honestly couldn’t believe the nerve this dog had. The bugs were clearly two different species! They don’t even look alike! Aren’t they an adult? They’re supposed to know everything!
“BESIDES, BIG DOESN’T SMELL LIKE YOU DO, STINKY! HE DIDN’T CALL YOU NAMES SO YOU BETTER SAY SORRY!!”
Nearby, Stars’ screeching hadn’t gone unnoticed, quickly catching the ear of the older Vulpix as they whipped around toward the sound.
“Oh gods—“
Taking off towards the loud display, they clumsily burst through the brush and landed into the scene at a short distance, immediately focusing on the tiny kit in the middle of their tantrum apart from the dog sitting before them.
“STAR!!”

The Arcanine looked about. This was the last place... right? As he tried to recollect, a throbbing in his head made him grumble under his breath. That Vulpix, a bitter thought as he paused in his search. That Hana actually did something... nice, despite their first encounter. It would be best to quash- something caught his eyes, a small Vulpix kit with a unique fur pigment. A squint. Pink and stardust... "Hey kid where's your parent?"
Admittingly, the child wasn’t expecting the hulking figure of the dog to cast such a wide shadow over them. Had they not realized they were being spoken too, they could’ve mistaken him for a tree, compared to their relative size.
Huh???
Starting from his paws and eventually craning their neck upward until they eventually toppled over, the child would struggle to see who was addressing them, considering they sun shined just behind their shadowed glare. Not bothering to get up, they would give a snort.
“…”
“Why are you so big, and stinky? You smell like dirt poop…”

They barely started to think about it when a slice of cheesecake was presented to them, it’s sweet aroma filling their nose and thoughts immediately. It smelled nothing like cheese, but still deliciously sweet and enticing. Leaning forward with their tongue sticking out, they give the treat a curious lick.
You could almost see the moment the sweet taste hit them like a truck, as in the next moment the dessert was gone in a whole bite, almost taking the limb along with it! You’re not entirely sure if they chewed at all with how fast it was eaten.
That was the best cake I’ve ever tasted ever.
Gimmie more? Please?? I want more!
Their eyes were wide and even more dazzling, their tail wagging a mile a minute as they pleaded with the swirlix.

I think the first picture was from when I was around 8 too I think. What really intrigues me is how similar it looks to your daughters, especially the headshape and how the neck connects to the face.
Your daughter got quite a good feel for colors, red and blue are complementary and purple is next to blue so it’s a solid color pallete with a pop of yellow. The bright red of the cape pulls your eyes towards it instantly and you just know this is a heroine.
The way she used a thicker outline and a thinner pen for the face? That’s a technique used by many cartoons and comics to make a character pop. The rainbow with thin lines? Makes it look like it’s further behind the thickly outlined superhero, that’s some perspecive right there!
Also for me personally it feels like her girl is in a more dynamic pose than the book one, if you trace an action line from the straight leg to the head you can see it’s nicely curved. The one from the book however is just straight as a board.
The concept of the hero is also very creative, never seen anything like it before in the many superhero mediums I have consumed. Marvel and DC the two biggest superhero comic book creators in the world, who combined have over 2000+ hero’s. There isn’t one with tulips.
Drawing isn’t easy but through perseverance you will go forward. As long as you keep drawing, you will improve automatically and if you improve you can make your idea’s real. Everybody has bad art days where they think that it’s never going to work out, that you failed but guess what that’s not true. You are your own worst critic. Van Gogh thought his painting “night café” was “ one of the ugliest pictures I have done “ and yet we see it as a masterpiece, imagine that.
Never give up, keep going even if you stumble and you will flourish. Not a single gemstone or diamond comes from the earth perfect, it needs to be cut, polished, inspected and much more. Currently, you are that rough diamond but if you keep going you will become that radiant stone that everybody loves.
I know I know I am on a hiatus-ish sort of break so why do you have to see this?
My daughter (8) just picked up drawing recently. This morning, she tried her first superhero girl. She has a book (the left picture) with step by step instructions but as you can see on the right, her drawing is different.
She’s devasted and sad that her supergirl doesn’t look “so good” and that it’s “wrong”. I suck at art and she knows so when I tell her that it’s amazing, she mumbles I say that because I can’t draw either.
I am pretty sure there aren’t any artblrs following me but I know that some writerblrs draw as well so would you be so kind to reblog this with a picture of your oldest drawing or any beginner drawing you have and one of your recent ones?
She’s so sad about her supergirl and I want her to see that no one starts out perfect and that the people who put these step by step books together are really just people who’ve drawn a long long time already.
(btw the orange writing is German and means “Rainbowtulip”. It’s the supergirls name because she likes rainbows and tulips but hates yellow tulips so if she spots someone not friendly she shoots yellow tulips on them. But if she spots someone who is friendly she makes a rainbow for them and also takes a picture for her wall where all the kind people have a picture)

You need to write about a random Scottish sheep farmer in the Highlands. One that can’t read and has no neighbours. Only him, his wife, five daughters and three sons and their desperate fight for survival in complete isolation.
I try not to judge people’ favorite historical figures but I cannot help but side-eye the fuck out of anyone who claims they really like Henry VIII…
Even so, people like Jacquetta and Elizabeth Woodville had several children in quick sucession no problem. I think Catherine’s problem might have been health related because she did gave birth more than once, but her children died really young and I heard it said it could’ve been because something was wrong with her. I don’t remember the particular of that argument, though, sorry.
And I think Anne’s problems might have been more stress related? She was in a bit of a precarious position there and stress does some serious shit to you. Coupled with the living conditions and general health nobles had those days, it isn’t surprising she couldn’t bring her babies to term.

I always figured that was the case for both Catherine and Anne. Back to back pregnancies isnt healthy for anyone. I had a friend tell me that she was advised by her doctor that for some women it can take up to a year for a womans body to fully heal depending up how the pregnancy went.
Yep! back to back pregnancies is really hard on the body. I probably would place my bets on this being the cause of Catherine and Anne’s troubles. Then the last three wives the cause would probably be Henry inability to have sex.

What I hate about Vikings is the idea that all of Aslaug’s sons, save Ivar (and slightly Ubbe) don’t want to avenge her due to her mistakes as a parent (Not even realizing their mother was physical and emotionally abused, and also very neglected which led to her neglect of them), and yet they’re all in favor of avenging Ragnar. Why? Cause Ragnar was father of the year? It’s not like he didn’t constantly abandon his family and was never content with his share in life. Why does Ragnar deserve to be avenged and Aslaug doesn’t.
I smell sexism.
@constantly-nocturnal Ah, I see! Right, that makes sense. That wasn't my intention, though. Honestly, the gif is just there for the visual effect. Though I think my wishing to see the end of those things doesn't necessarily means they have to stop writing it, gif or no. But I will say that this is a rant and if any person stops writing that due to my post I won't complain. It'll mean better fanfiction and I am for that, always.
