I can't move on

Challenge: explain how Schneider and Vertin could work canonically in spite of their short time together.

This previous post I made helps flesh out their dynamics but I want to talk about how the two could fall in love with each other. It might help put the rest of this post in perspective.

Unconventional lover theory:

Perhaps Schneider didn't fall in love with Vertin per say, but she saw what they could be. What if she saw enough to say that one day she'd fall in love with this person if she had the chance. Vertin didn't have a long time with Schneider, but in their short time she displayed everything Schneider wished for. It's about impact rather than time, especially since they met in extraordinary circumstances.

So going off of that, if Schneider feels that one day Vertin will be someone special to her due to her character...

Why can't they start right now? Does love have to be done in a specific order for it to be real? Schneider herself is a rather unconventional person so, perhaps this line of thought isn't weird for her.

One day'll fall she'll fall in love with Vertin, so what's wrong with indulging in their relationship now? Whether it's after the first date or 10 dates, if they end up together then why not love each other from now?

That is to say, she doesn't love Vertin; she loves the Vertin she'll inevitably fall in love with the down the line.

Time is short. She has shit to do. They can figure out the middle part along the way but she's looking at the end-game.

She loves the future they could have had together.

Unfortunately she also knows they don't have time to build that future.

As for Vertin, she isn't in love with Schneider either but she feels she could be. Vertin doesn’t know this is the last time she'll see Schneider and thinks in a more conventional sense where they'll get closer day by day. However, Vertin can't have anything "normal" so she's robbed of that possibility. She tries not to think about what ifs since she can't change anything, meaning she ruminates on the past and reality of the situation.

Vertin's fixated on the loss she suffered in the past.

Schneider focused on future she knows they can't have.

But, perhaps in a convoluted way, they started falling in love the moment they actually looked at each other in the hours before the Storm. When their visions aligned in the present.

some of you may have already seen this, but I'm very much admired and touched and saddened at the same time by these voice lines from Schneider. she addresses Vertin so wonderfully...let it be here

please bring her back. please let her be alive. let's resurrect her and create a better life for her? i want to walk with her in the orange tree garden. i want to be able to avoid her death. i want her to never be in pain

I have a headcanon: Schneider has been living in Vertin's suitcase for quite some time now, and the timekeeper is used to Schneider using her gun for some reason or no reason at all. however, Schneider still asks Vertin before she shoots if she can do it and if Vertin would be startled by the sudden loud noises. i think Vertin would answer her with something like "it's ok"

OOOOOOOO I think Vertin likes to stroke Schneider's hair or touch her face and hands. and they also like to hold hands together!! and when Schneider's hands are cold, Vertin gently takes them and warms them. and also Schneider often kisses Vertin's hands, her wrists and fingers, each of them in turn

just a very sweet and touching flirt :)

I think Schneider would definitely put some feathers on Vertin's hat. or Vertin would do it herself secretly, but wouldn't tell Schneider because she was embarrassed and she just hoped Schneider would notice it herself. of course, Schneider would notice it right away

I think Vertin gets very embarrassed when Schneider says it and she still can't get used to the nickname, maybe she doesn't know how to react and lowers her gaze or hides her face behind her hat or looks away. maybe she would like to call Schneider something special too, but she doesn't know what romantic nickname to come up with because she has no experience with it. but Schneider likes it when the timekeeper just calls her name in her quiet and calm voice. and then they kiss

HELLO???? DO I NEED TO SAY ANYTHING HERE? CAUSE I TURNED INTO A PUDDLE AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO SAY

In any case, I think Schneider would have respected Vertin's feelings and her comfort. it's unlikely she would have done anything without her consent

Hi everyone, I am now hyperfixated on reverse 1999!!

so now that's all I do in my silly life :)

So, I'm going through the last section of the quest story, and I want to share what made me cry

❗possible spoilers❗

I really liked Schneider from her first appearance in the story. i relate to her with a lot of empathy and sympathy. i was very hurt and bitter and bad when she died

and now I know about her family. how they just wanted to find a shelter where they could stay safe in the midst of all this chaos, but the foundation denied their request. i.e....Schneider was a HUMAN, and she, as well as her family, needed SHELTER. THE OFFICIAL AUTHORITATIVE ORGANIZATION literally said to them «paupers, f**k off», WHY??? WHY?

LITERALLY those DAMN foundation people sent her a this letter, WHY? WHY DID SHE DESERVE THIS? and the excuse was "uh, we don't have the capacity to accept people from all over the world" YEAH ????? REALLY??? it's SO cruel, it's HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE

If she and her family had been given shelter, she would be alive. but because of.... I don't know what was in people's heads...but she is dead, SHE DIED horribly and unjustly because she had nowhere to go

I sat with my face in my hands and curled up into a ball, and cried after all this, and then my head was empty

OMG HELP?????? THIS moment broke my heart so much and hurt so much, I really felt very sad and also I was too quiet and didn't talk to anyone like I usually do in moments like this 😶

also this moment gave me goosebumps and I was very surprised because I hadn't seen a plot move like this before

....there's gonna be worse moments in the story, right? 🙃
