Finally! I completed game Stray! It's a great story, great art, and… CATS! I saw a trend where artists redraw themselves as robots with their pets (example: artzypaw.tumblr.com), so I decided to try myself too. Art in progress :"D Preview:
Hey Tumblr, I know peoples Stray ocs are normally the robots, but mine is a spirit because like what if when the doors finally opened and the kitty left like- what if a spirit was awoken by the pure power of the sun and those fleshy critters dying, to help unite all the 'classes' of robots together and rebuild their little town and stuff like outside the dome, wouldn't that be swell?
Anyways Lavi the Spirit.
Well it’s stray oc time despite me being like an hour into the game
do you have any tips on drawing stray companions/robots?
im vry cmfused
Hello! 🤖
While working on robots in general, I suggest to have fun and experiment with different brushes to get cool texture effects (rust and scratches as signs of the time and the environment they live in, incorporating different materials as shiny surfaces, opaque joints, smooth and rough parts).
Also, to add different technical details such as bolts, cables, engravings, antennas etc to make them different from one another and unique.
As for Stray companions specifically, what I love the most is incorporating aspects of their personalities and backstories in their designs, such as colour scheme and smaller details: what do they like? How do they express it? How can it be reflected on a visual plane? That's when they really come to life 😊
Hope it helps a bit! Have a great day 🌸
And finally, Pumpkin and Nova 🧡💫 the family is complete!
