Bro is fighting for humanity, but they don't want it

i'm a paper engineer, a huge part of my job is finding out ways to replace plastic components with cardboard alternatives.

this post fills my heart with hope. i genuinely DO NOT want people to like the box products come in, i want you to recycle it or leave it to biodegrade after it did its job of protecting the product and instead focus on enjoying and displaying the actual product you bought

collector mentality is so difficult to work around because now toys need to come in packaging that is -itself- collected, so now we see products come in yet another layer to protect the packaging (like corner protectors) and it all just means more waste

we NEED more boring boxes

i spent a decade slowly convincing clients to switch out plastic windows and clamshells and coming up with all these clever card alternatives to reduce plastic in the world and then the trend of "unboxing experience = product" came in and undid my life's work in an instant :(
