gotta be honest with you, i'm not too sure about this thing ppl say of "conservatives" being irrationally opposed to "trans people just existing" or whatever. i guess controversial take but no they actually have very concrete reasons to oppose bodily autonomy and the destabilization of sexual roles we represent considering their views on sex/gender and social reproduction overall actually. obviously we must oppose those views as they are 1. wrong and 2. oppressive but like. it's not like they just chose a random minority to hate. i mean otherwise why do you think it's specifically us.

NINE INCH NAILS - THE ONLY TIME London, UK // May 24th, 1994
Actually I'll never forgive Punk Rave and Killstar and fast fashion brands for tricking people into thinking that being goth or punk or emo is expensive. Babygirl the only goth brand names you need to know are Rit, Good Will, Etsy, and Studs and Spikes, we used to shove safety pins through our ears and then they started selling earrings that look like safety pins for 15.99. We used to dye thrifted wedding dresses black and they started selling gothic gowns for 300 bucks. We used to put studs on boots we found in the back of the good will and they started making Demonias. DIY or die wasn't perfect it can be exclusionary to disabled people but whatever the fuck we've got going on right now is so much worse. It's not any more inclusive to the disabled and it is exclusionary to the people who made punk, to the people who made goth, to the people who made emo. If you've got the funds and you don't want to do diy pay someone else to do it for you but please let it be a small artist or a friend not some guy in a suit who's made it his business to gentrify punk. You can turn flats into platforms with flipflops, hotglue and gumption don't let anyone tell you different.
i actually want to kill myself because im so far behind in life.
even if it is bait and said by a younger person, this genuinely does hurt to read on ngl...

Hard to believe Nine Inch Nails' classic The Downward Spiral is 30 years old today! Here is some detail photography I took of the original album cover painting by Russell Mills for the 10th anniversary deluxe edition release, which I had the unique honor of designing, and somehow that is now 20 year old.
Everyone has that one album that hit at just the right moment of adolescence to change their perspective on music and get them through their teenage angst. The Downward Spiral was that album for me, released as it was in 1994, when I was a freshman in high school (and an absolute banner year for music/films/games all around). I must have stared at the artwork for hours over those years, without even much detail to draw from on its tiny 5â CD slip case. So five years later, when I found myself inexplicably working for Nine Inch Nails, it was surreal to see the actual original painting in the flesh, hanging as it was at the time in Trent Reznorâs office at Nothing Studios, New Orleans.
I was struck by how much dimension and texture there was in the artwork that never translated on that tiny slipcase printing, how much detail was happening in the physical materials of the art: Flies, moths, wires, blood⌠I had been staring at this âpaintingâ for so long, yet suddenly it was like I had never seen it before. I also noticed that it had aged - the wires had wilted over the years, drooping down from their original position as captured in the original album cover (interestingly, judging by the photo posted today by NIN, the piece has since been restored); a tooth was missing from the other main piece.
That experience stuck with me and it was the first thing I thought about when the task of re-imagining the album package fell upon me in 2004. I wanted to re-photograph the artwork, subtly updating the cover to show that ten years had changed it physically, much like our perceptions of art and music and memories change over time with perspective. I also wanted to dig into the previously unseen details of the work and explore it with my macro lens, so that fans like me, old and new, could have new layers of texture to pore over for hours while listening to a legendary album.
Happy birthday, old friend.

Learning anything about marine mammal training will make you re-evaluate so much of your relationship with your own pets. There is so much force involved in the way we handle domestic animals. Most of it isnât even intentional, it just stems from impatience. Iâm guilty of it myself!
But with the exception of certain veterinary settings where the animalâs health is the immediate priority, why is it so important to us that animals do exactly what we want exactly when we want it? Why do we have to invent all these tools and contraptions to force them to behave?
When a whale swam away from a session, that was that. The trainer just waited for them to decide to come back. If they flat out refused to participate in behaviors, they still got their allotment of fish. Nothing bad happened. Not even when 20-30 people were assembled for a procedure, and the whale chose not to enter the medical pool. No big deal. Their choice and comfort were prioritized over human convenience.
Itâs almost shocking to return to domestic animal medicine afterwards and watch owners use shock collars and chokers and whips to control their animals. Itâs no wonder that positive reinforcement was pioneered by marine mammal trainers. When you literally canât force an animal to do what you want, it changes your entire perspective.
I want to see that mindset extended to our domestic animals.

Communication is a human right! We demand access to whatever form of communication we choose, including unconditional access to Augmented and Alternative Communication technologies.
We demand autonomy over our own bodies and rightful decision-making powers over our own lives as we see fit.
We demand freedom from police brutality and all forms of abuse, including seclusion and physical and chemical restraint in schools and hospitals, and we demand freedom from all forms of violence, including filicide.
We demand that the shameful Judge Rotenberg Center in Canton, Massachusettsâand all other institutions like itâbe shut down. #StopTheShock
ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) is conversion therapy for autistics. We demand freedom from all oppressive âinterventionsâ or âtreatmentsâ and quack âcuresâ for Autism which seek to rob us of whatâand whoâwe are.
We demand unsegregated access to an education alongside our peers.
We demand access to our own communities and our own cultures, and we demand access to knowledge of our peopleâs history!
We demand meaningful employment and an end to sub-minimum wage for all disabled people.
The way we move is political, and we demand freedom from all pressures to âbehaveâ in accordance with neurotypical standards. Embrace the stim! Â
We must commit to cross-disability solidarity and cross-movement solidarity.

Isn't it weird that Azula was all but said to have been abused and/or tortured in her asylum yet no one in-universe or outside seems to care or think how it could have negatively affected her? For a show that handled so many difficult topics with grace (ex. genocide, child abuse, ableism, sexism, etc.), it seem weird that the ATLA franchise seems to perpetuate harmful stereotypes about mental illness.
It is unfortunately not weird at all, because of something I call âThe Azula Biasâ, and because the comics are poorly written due to the writerâs failure of understand what made the original show so important in the first place.
There were some problematic aspects surrounding mental illness on the show, but nothing even close to what the comics did. Azulaâs breakdown was, for the most part, something to show us that she was a literal child soldier who had been neglected, groomed, and abused. Zuko and Katara were talking about âputting Azula in her placeâ before the Agni Kai, yet the music made it all sound like the tragedy it was, and Zuko clearly felt no joy with his victory. He was watching his sister cry with a somber expression, and Katara literally had to give him emotional support. That happened because, at that moment, Zuko finally understood that he was not Ozaiâs only victim.
There were plans for a Book 4, and one of the stories it would involve would be Azula healing and redeeming herself - with Zukoâs help. That would be the perfect way to have that happen because Zuko knows what itâs like to be raised by Ozai, to be constantly put under pressure and having to sacrifice everything to please that man, only to get no reward because nothing is ever enough for that bastard. Zuko made many mistakes and he knows he could have ended up like Azula if things had been difference, so it makes sense that he would now understand that it might not be too late for his sister. It would be a natural conclusion to their story.
The problem is that the main writer who was planning on this, Aaron Ehasz, was not involved at all with the comics, meaning there was a considerable chance that that storyline would be botched. Which unfortunately was exactly what happened.
Instead of trying to help Azula because he cares about her and finally understood why she did the things she did, Zuko now seems to only have kept her alive because A.The writers gave him all the power and personality of a doormat and B.Theyâre related and killing family members is a no-no. Zukoâs motivation to be in his sister life are the old bullshit of âYou can never, ever, ever cut ties with a family member and you are obligated to forgive every bad shit theyâve done to youâ instead of it being something he chose to do because he loves Azula, empathizes with her, and finally understands why she did the things she did.
On this bastardized version of the story, Azula is not Zukoâs sister. Sheâs not his antagonist or his enemy. Sheâs not even an obstacle he has to overcome or a plot-device. Sheâs his burden, a cross he has to bear - which is how many people view their disabled/mentally ill relatives, and the writers validated that. Kiyi, one of the few likeable characters on that shitshow, was literally the replacement sister/daughter. The perfect child that Azula failed to be. The writers even try to disguise this by having the characters say that Azula is delusional when she claims Ursa had Kiyi to replace her, but that doesnât change the fact that this exactly why they created her. They gave the ânormalâ family members a cute, ânormalâ kid to compensate them for the âbrokenâ one.
Azulaâs mental illness was treated as a replacement for her personality, and even as more reason for the characters and the audience to hate her, even though she had no control over what she was doing. Even the way she was drawn was meant to look scary, like she was nothing but a threat that had to be dealt with, and her pain was something we should either ignore, or even cheer.Â
Zuko locked her up in a terrible institution that abused her, and didnât visit her until he needed something from her? Thatâs what she gets for being a bad sister! Thatâs karma for you!Â
Sheâs constantly being physically assaulted by the other characters? Sheâs Azula! Of course theyâre doing that to her! Sheâs dangerous!Â
Ozai groomed and abused her? Well, Ozai is a monster who is horrible to everyone. She ainât especial.Â
Ursa neglected her? Oh, but she didnât mean to, so itâs okay that it happened and that sheâs not trying to make things right in any way.
What do you mean Iroh she have at least tried to help her? Nobody could help her! Bitch crazy!
The writers werenât telling a story about a mentally ill 14 year old finally getting the love and support she needed, and learning to be better with the help of her older brother who is truly sorry for everything that happened and wants to give her the same chance he was offered. They were using her as a way to make Zuko look like a saint, and their target audience was those fans that seem to believe that Azula is a robot who has no emotions, and was built by Ozai solely to make Zukoâs life harder, so anything that is done to her is okay - itâs not like sheâs human or anything.
the amount of women out here theorycrafting heinously pseudoscientific and delusional copes for why the men they date act like they donât give a fuck about her makes me want to tear my hair out. i lose 6 months off my life every time i hear about âanxious attachment.â please get real
he ignores you for days at a time because he doesnât care. he ghosts after sex because that is all he wanted from you. he strings you along but refuses an exclusive relationship because he does not want to date you. he wonât introduce you to his friends because you are not one of his friends. he doesnât do his share of the housework because he thinks you should do it. he acts inconsiderate because he does not think about you. his words donât match his actions because the words are lies.
postulating about his âattachment styleâ and his âunhealed traumaâ and his âneurodivergenceâ and the deep conflicting reasons for his behavior is a waste of your fucking time. he acts like he doesnât like you because he does not like you, and because he can get away with it. yâall are making up a whole different man in your head because you so badly want to believe he isnât a womanhating parasite. you are imagining a soul in the dried up corpse of a roach. you are projecting depth and vulnerability onto a dog shit wedged in your shoe. stop giving losers the benefit of the doubt PLEASE i am on my knees like a dog BEGGING all women
