Just wanted to document the cracks in these nails. I just put them on yesterday, and they’re already cracking. They will eventually cause a bad tone.
There are many factors that could cause the cracking. I do a lot of work with my hands even when not playing the guitar. I also probably wash them too much. However, I still believe these nails crack really really fast.

I have been very busy and tired lately. I really hate that it is hard to find time to practice. This is extremely frustrating. It worries me.
I am learning Luis Milan’s six Pavans. I am getting this one (no 2) under memory here. Now that I know all the notes, I’m trying to decide what to do with repeated material. In the first example I played it all in my standard default tone color. When I restarted the piece, I went more ponticello on the repeated material. I believe that less-extreme color change with more dynamic changes may be what I need. I’ll try that in a later post. Probably tomorrow.
Day 9
Very short video today. I’m very tired from having to run around doing Hurricane-Michael-related work. However, I am pleased that my right hand angle of attack is beginning to stay towards the left side of the nail.
Today I’m playing with a lap guitar support which allows me to sit with both of my feet touching the floor (instead of having the left leg raised with a footstool). I noticed a lot more squeaking with this position, as well as my left hand landing too hard, which results in a slapbass-like sound.
Dear #classicalguitarists, what are some fun exercises and etudes for developing a solid p, i, a triplet in the right hand?
For instance, Asturias, Llobet Folias (3 & 4), Brouwer Estudio Sencillo no 4, Giuliani No. 2.Any suggestions and advice is appreciated.
Thanks!

Changed my strings and cleaned my fretboard with mineral oil today. Not pleased with this performance, but I have to move on to other pieces.
Had a lot of trouble with squeaking and intonation today. It rained a little while ago.

Patching this minuetto by Francisco Tárrega. Says to play the entire piece with pizz. It’s so tempting to play normally.

Meant to post this one last night. Still been a little too busy to mane a decent video. In the moving-back-to-school process. Stressed.
Day 7
Feeling better about my tone and volume control here. I need to be more aware random noises before I play the first note.
Variation 2 from Seis variaciones sobre un tema de Luis Milan by Nin-Culmell.

I’ve been worried about school everyday since my home was hit by Hurricane Michael last October. I had hoped to graduate in May, back before the storm hit. It’s over a year now and I’m still living in a travel trailer. There have been many hurricane-recovery-related tasks that have greatly interfered with my practice and studies in school. I’m even more worried now.
Anyway, I’m doing some slow practice here in this video. Beginning to commit the piece to memory. It’s easy to find where I have trouble with memory here (jolts in the performance). I have taken note of these instances and will work them out.

Feeling better about this variation tonight. I think one of my problems last night was the strings were old. My nails were in bad shape too. I changed my nails today and feel better about my tone from them as well.
