Can you believe Taylor started an era entirely about being seen on Lesbian Visibility Day, following up Delicate whose video was about being invisible to everyone except your Lover. Truly the gayest thing ever
god i know………… LESBIAN VISIBILITY DAY!!!! she spent all of lesbian visibility day yelling ME! OUT NOW!! after she’d spent all of rep era talking about being seen for who she truly is and even made the concept of invisibility fully literal in the delicate video in case her saying it in words in the rep prologue wasn’t clear enough for people… after she confirmed that delicate was for the gays and even brought back invisible.mp3 from her fucking debut album as a secret song and made a speech explicitly connecting invisibility with being closeted and coming out. and now the whole bridge and emotional climax of her most emotional and intensely personal song yet is her just repeating “they see right through me can you see right through me i see right through me” over and over… y’all……
this coney island analysis though, i’ve never heard this perspective before 😭

This is very interesting and explains a lot. Thanks for sharing!

See full vide below:
2 - The infamous interview with Jack Antonoff talking about how much he loves working with gay women. Here is the link to the audio from @thekaylordiaries:

This is all I could think of right now but please add more

ive been thinking about the plotholes in the 2016 met gala narrative. Its absolutely crazy that no one seems to question the whole swiftvin-hiddleswift-toe timeline and we obviously know that none of the above relationships are real. but another strange thing i only just noticed is that why was joe alwyn, up and coming new actor with no lead roles or recognition was even doing at THE met gala…how did he even get an invite..i doubt he could pay $30,000 even if he got an invite from somewhere
Yes, this is a curious question that has been discussed previously. I believe he was there with an actor. But someone else can chime in with more details.

we begin our story in new york. there once was a girl known by everyone and no one. her heart belonged to someone who couldn’t stay. they loved each other recklessly. they paid the price. she danced to forget him. he drove past her street each night. she made friends and enemies. he only saw her in his dreams. then, one day, he came back. timing is a funny thing, and everyone was watching. she lost him, but she found herself and somehow ... that was EVERYTHING.
Now I know why Taylor put a harmonica in Betty...
I wrote the Exile > MTR > Happiness anon and would like to elaborate/clarify what I meant as I was rushing when I sent the original anon. All my opinion of course (so no disrespect to anyone).
Taylor said the focus of folklore was the love triangle between Betty/James/Inez and that evermore was the sister album—both albums are telling that entire story. So because of this, I think you have to really listen between the lines.
I never said Karlie and Taylor have “seen each other out recently” nor am I saying that they broke up (they’ve shown VERY recently that they haven’t). I’m saying that these three songs are about someone she broke up with *before* she started dating Karlie. Exile is about finally leaving a toxic relationship. Why would Scott care if he saw her in a picture with her arms around someone else laughing? Why would he tell her it took her five whole minutes to be in someone else’s arms after they’d just had a fight (for example)?
MTR is the conversation after the breakup in Exile. “You had to kill me, but it killed you just the same—it had to end even though neither person wanted it to. It hurt her to leave and it hurt the other person to watch her leave.
“Hear my stolen lullabies” is a metaphor for hearing her voice, not her literal songs. Her voice haunting this person, even though she’s not there. Her screaming at the sky because the other person isn’t there so she has no one to talk to. They gather stones never knowing what they mean—some to throw (pick a fight), some to make a diamond ring. They don’t know if it’s gonna be love or war. Like in tolerate it when she says “I greet you with a battle hero’s welcome”. When someone comes home from war, you don’t know what version of that person you’re going to get. Also, what exactly would Scott be giving her a diamond ring for?
“I can go anywhere I want just not home”—she can go anywhere but home because she can’t be around or face the person she just left in Exile. Just like in Happiness, when she says “I pulled your body into mine very g—damn night, now I can’t fake niceties”—she can’t be “just friends” with this person after something like that (sleeping together). Champagne Problems—how evergreen our group of friends…don’t think we’ll say that word again .
She accepts the end of *that* relationship in “Happiness and chooses to be happy. There is happiness (with Karlie) AFTER that previous relationship and there’s also happiness BECAUSE of that person/relationship. Had she not left that situation (as much as she may not have wanted to..as that’s the price she paid) she wouldn’t be in the one she is now—7 years of heaven. How even across their “great divide” or breakup, there was a bright spot—a glorious sunrise (from St. Louis). Dappled in flickers of light from the dress she wore at midnight (she was buried in that dress in the LWYMMD video…which she wore to the 2014 Met Gala that she and Karlie attended). She left it all behind for happiness.
It’s time to go is knowing when to leave a generally toxic situation whether it’s a job, romantic or platonic relationship. When you’re at a job for 20 years and you don’t get the promotion, the boss’ son does. When you notice your partner look at another person a certain way, not as friends even though they say otherwise, you have that gut feeling…
…or when you expect something different from your partner and it’s the same thing over and over and you’re lost again with no surprises, only disappointments…
and finally, when you’ve been asking to own your work for years only to be shot down every single time and have them sold to someone else out of spite. <—this is why I said this was a Scott song because it references her old label drama.
You are welcome to believe this. But, also, see this article:
Taylor Swift says dispute with Scott Borchetta and Scooter Braun felt like divorce
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the Grammy-winning pop behemoth confirmed that songs "My Tears Ricochet" and "Mad Woman" were inspired by her former Big Machine label boss Scott Borchetta and music industry bigwig Scooter Braun.
Well... there’s that. Why is Taylor like this? 😂
