As anyone who follows me knows, I have been obsessing over this movie since it came out on Friday. I now love it with a fiery passion and I will fight anyone who talks shit about. Having said that here are some things that I’d like to see in the sequel (because it WILL happen and I HAVE to believe that)

Lara Jean walks up to Peter in front of his friends, says “Hi” and kisses him hello and he grins at her and he is star struck because the whole “no kissing” thing is officially out the window

Lara Jean and Peter go on their first real date and they show PDA but it’s in a cute way…i.e. holding hands, more hand in back pocket, kisses on cheeks, snuggling up to each other…but seriously when are they not cute?

Peter accidentally finds Lara Jean’s envelope full of condoms from her Dad and says something like, “Damn, Covey…if I knew you wanted it that bad all you had to do was ask” and she’s embarrassed and they have a good laugh over it

Lara Jean and Peter have a hot makeout session after Peter lifts her up and puts her to sit on a counter top and when she asks what he’s doing he says, “Well you’re so short, I had to split the difference” then she rolls her eyes at him and pulls him down to her. This is definitely all that I could think of them doing when I saw Lara Jean sitting on his kitchen counter and Peter holding on to the counter near the sink for dear life so that he wouldn’t reach for her

Okay but the importance of romanticising soft kind thoughtful boys who are open about their feelings and sweet in general cannot be overstated. More romantic leads who check in on their girls , who don’t care about being seen as “whipped” , who go out of their way to bond with little sisters and moms and dads , and who don’t try to change the girl they’re with at all. We need to romanticise soft kind boys, so that young girls see soft kind boys as the ideal romantic partner. Teach young girls through media that being with the asshole guy isn’t what they need, teach young girls to find kind boys who actually talk to them about real stuff, who watch the movies they like, who never tease them or mock them, who stand up for them and are never ever embarrassed of them, who notice their smarts and their personality, who understand their fears and their struggles, and actually care about them. If we make that the ideal Love Interest™️ character more young girls will see that as someone to strive for, and maybe less of them will settle for guys who treat them poorly because of it.

Peter Kavinsky Was Into Lara Jean The Whole Time: An Analysis

Literally from the very beginning Peter was… so very obviously into Lara Jean Covey, and so here is like, a moment by moment look into that! (With gifs, because obviously. Credit is in each bullet point, with a hyperlink to the gifsets i got them from!)

1. Literally every time he calls her Covey I just… melt. Soft nicknames that aren’t really nicknames (using a last name insead) is so endearing. this isnt really a Thing™ but i wanted to just … gush about it for a hot second.

2. Literlaly starting in 7th grade, i’d say he noticed her and probably had a mini crush on her. When she spun the bottle and landed on him, he wouldn’t let her spin again. According to LJ, him and Gen “only wanted to kiss each other” but given the chance to kiss her, he took it. Now that may just be 7th grade crush cuteness, but he also remembers the kiss 4 years later, which means it was just as memorable for him as it was for LJ.

3.When he comes up on Gen teasing LJ, he tries to make an excuse for her, and then he checks her out and leaves. We later find out that he actually really liked her outfit and remembered the encounter, and thought the way Gen treated her was shitty. His attempt to go out of his way to linger back and make LJ feel better, and the fact that he totally noticed her outfits and how cute she was BEFORE the letter.

4. When LJ almost runs Peter over with her car, he comes up and stops to talk to her. He could have just rolled his eyes and walked off but instead he comes up and leans in, is decidedly flirty and sweet, with some light teasing. Later we hear Kitty say that “she could tell Peter liked her”,  which… man little sisters right? (Gif Credit: @leagueicons)

5. When he gets the letter, he comes up to her to let her down easy, clarifying the whole time that he’s flattered, that he remembers the kiss, but that “him and Gen are in a weird place”. He never outright tells her he isn’t interested in her, or anything (other than to say it “wasn’t going to happen” which is kinda whatever), which isn’t definitive but I think it’s kind of telling that he isn’t just like “I don’t see you that way” or anything like that.

6. He is then COMPLETELY FLOORED when she Attack Kisses™ him on the track. He just sits there, totally fucking in awe of her. She gets up (and thanks him? God she’s so cute.) and then runs away and he tries to get her to stop and then is just like “holy. Shit.” (Gif Credit: @peraltas-jake)

7. THEN HE GOES TO HER HOUSE? Like boy REALLY wants this to be a conversation, because she LIKES him and he needs clarification, I love a soft boy. But then he’s at the diner and he’s like, almost offended that she DOESN’T like him, and then he finds out she wrote other letters and he’s so ‘curious’ like he has to know who stole her heart? And then he finds out that she wrote love letters to people she loved in elementary school and he’s just WILDLY endeared by her like the look on his face is just like “omg she’s so cute”. AND THEN HE DRIVES HER HOME IM A MESS. his face when she admits it’s her bike is hysterical. He’s just like “oh good lord what am I gonna do with her” (Gif Credit: @hazystrangers)

8. Then he drives her home, and is like… way over invested in whether she likes Josh and she tells him it’s not his problem and he’s like “wait but…” and then SUGGESTS THEY FAKE DATE?!? lol boy is …. already deep in it. And then she goes inside and josh sees and he plays it up before she’s even said anything. I love a protective boy. His little “looks like it” is so SMUG. (Gif Credit: @leagueicons)

9. When she shows up on the lacrosse field and agrees to their crackpot plan, he looks THRILLED and just kisses her? Right there? He just wanted to kiss her so bad you can not convince me otherwise. And then he just lets her be dorky and is so endeared. (Gif Credit: @itsbettyjughead)

10. Then they make a CONTRACT? And she says no kissing and he’s just… so upset. He totally loves smooching her and was excited to keep doing it and was super disappointed when he wasn’t going to get too. Then he immediately says there needs to be some way he can touch her … boy… you LOVE HER. and then they plan a fucking double feature and he pretends to be annoyed but he so isn’t. 11. THEN PETER IS SO SOFT AND SINCERE ABOUT OFFERING TO WRITE HER NOTES?? And then he tries to backtrack but boy we see you. And then he says she has to come to parties and stuff, because he wants to spend time with her? And then puts in a “contingency” for the ski trip because you know he was SUPER hopeful that they would be still together. (And then they shake hands and he’s just… enamoured) (Gif Credit: @stydixa)

12. He actually WRITES her notes? Like he could have just been handing her pieces of blank paper but instead he wrote sweet and super specific Little notes about how much he likes her. Boy did NOT have to do that, there was no need to do that.  He noticed her intelligence, he noticed how pretty she was, he talked about their real connection. He wrote her loves notes from day 1.

13. Um he’s super nice and sweet with her little sister which was entirely unnecessary to their fake dating but it was certainly a good way to impress her I mean idk just a thought

19. Ummmm he takes her scrunchie because her likes her hair down? And puts it on his wrist? And takes photos of her? And makes them his phone background? Boy did NOT have to go all in on the details but he was FULLY committed. Plus he’s just so… sweet with her at the party, urging her on and bringing her drinks and taking selfies with her. 20. (He is also pretty wildly annoyed with Gen every time they interact, including leaving the party almost immediately after she accosts him in the bathroom)

21. He leaves the party kinda early, and takes her to get food, and then spends the whole time just trying to get to know her and complimenting her. Like fake dating does not require post public outing bonding, peter my dear. And they talk about his dad and her mom, and about her fears, it’s so soft, and his just direct willingness to try and open up to her and talk about real stuff is lovely. He feels safe with her.

22. He remembers that someone else asked her to homecoming a YEAR ago, like he paid attention to her before any of this.

26. He’s so concerned when his mom slips up about her mom, and then they have such a deep and lovely conversation about their parents and he just… feels so comfortable with her? He just opens up with her and you know he wouldn’t do that if he didn’t actually like… love her. He’s also so intent on making sure he’s there for her when it comes to stuff about her mom. He’s so present and he’s so sincere.

28. Their fight pre-ski trip is just PACKED with Peter Loves Lara Jean vibes. He’s like… jealous Lite when he sees her with Josh, and then he just… won’t let her break up with him. He wants her to come on the trip, he wants them to be together, but he just can’t seem to get it out there. As SOON as she starts talking about ending it he freaks out and tries to stop her. 29. We find out about all the bus stuff when we find out that he really likes her, but the preparation for that had to have taken a while. Trips all the way across town, talking to kitty in private to get the info he needed, buying snacks for them. He really had feelings well before the trip and was going to make an effort to put it out there on the trip before it got weird.

30. He’s also a little salty that she wasn’t being sweet with him, I love the line in the hot tub when he says “what am I supposed to be sweet to you when you just don’t sit with me on the bus ride up here”. Like he really wanted this weekend with her and is so sad that he didn’t get it, but is so thrilled when she showed up at the hot tub. Boy made so much effort for this girl, it’s lovely. BONUS: Excuse me but… when were they NAPPING together to get that photo? Napping together is so not a Fake Dating requirement.

There’s also all the hot tub stuff, but that’s when we find out he really likes her so there’s no need to Go point by point after that, but THAT LOOK HE GIVES HER IS DEVASTATING. Boy has been strung out since day one. “There’s no one like you Covey” END MY LIFE. He just didn’t want to stop kissing her I can’t handle it.

9) LJ feeding him in his mouth and him feeling bad about finishing her lunch and buying her food from his money, which he had said in the contract he wouldn’t do *cough* bc that part wasn’t acted at all *cough*

10) Peter’s friends clearly liking her and stating they didn’t like Gen and Peter feeling happy and proud about it

Bellarke and THOSE over the shoulder shots.

All season, we’ve had many, many shots of Clarke from over Bellamys shoulder.

Right from the very first reunion hug, they shot her face from over his shoulder. But at this point they are facing each other.

It’s only after he tries to get her to open up at the campfire, and she doesn’t,

the shots are then filmed from over his shoulder, but his back is turned to her. (Or could it be the arrival of his girlfriend?)

Anyway, there’s a lot of them. She’s always there, that’s the way they chose to frame it, as if she’s always in the back of his mind.

We all know the infamous over Bellamys shoulder shot of Clarke, reacting to the first time she sees Bellamy and Echo kiss.

Then there’s Clarke making a deal with Diyoza in 5x07:

They also film her from over his shoulder as he walks away from her in 5x09, leaving her screaming for him as he’s on his way to give Madi the flame.

They use it a lot. But he never turns back to look at her.

Not until this moment.

Above, here Clarke is again, over Bellamys shoulder in 5x13. This is when Madi decides to go and talk to him. And then she tells him. About the radio calls, about how much Clarke cares, and finally, he turns to look at her.

He’s finally ready to look at her, and acknowledge that she’s always there, in the back of his mind.

Again, as time is running out and they are waiting for their friends, as Clarke calls for him, they film her over his shoulder. Again, he turns to look at her, and tells her exactly why he can’t go. He can’t do it again. It was too painful.

Later, when they’re safe, he lets her know she’s forgiven and asks her to come to the bridge. But as he walks away, again, he looks back over his shoulder at her.

Like he wants to say something.

And again, once more, on the bridge, there she is. She’s there because he asked her to be. He needs her there.

And the final ending shot, over both their shoulders, of their new world. Bellamy is the one that brings her in towards him.

Sorry for the crappy screenshots, but I thought this was worth throwing out there, it’s a very interesting framing choice! If anyone finds any more let me know, I’ll add them to the list!

I know a lot of us wanted THIS SEASON to be the one where Bellamy finds out about the radio calls and spends the entire season pining after Clarke while not sure what to do about Echo… I think we’ve been set up to do that next season. 

And by doing this they’ve made the stakes a lot higher. 

Before it would have been just an immediate regression to what had happened 6 years before praimfire 2.0 - and would have made the separation and the six year gap entirely pointless.

Now we’ve had at least some time for them to hit the ground, reacquaint themselves to each other, and be shocked by how much is different and yet how much is the same. 

It’s also given the audience more time to accept the new and important relationships in Clarke and Bellamy’s lives. 

Although it removes the momentum that had gathered by the end of season 4, I think it will make what comes next all the more rewarding by how hard we will see Clarke and Bellamy fight for it.

Like… does Bellamy remember how he roared when he jumped on Dax while he was firing at Clarke? Does Clarke remember her whisper “he’s killing him” as she watched Tristan knocking Bellamy down? Does Bellamy remember how relieved he was when Clarke made it back in Camp Jaha? Or does Clarke remember how her whole face light up when she saw Bellamy after the she escaped Mt. Weather?

Does Clarke remember the sting of “I was being weak. It’s worth the risk” and the hurt in Bellamy’s eyes? Does Bellamy how his hips danced when the first person he spoke to from inside Mt. Whether was Clarke because of course she would be there waiting for him to radio back! And does Clarke remember how she tried to hide her panic from the other when they lost contact with Bellamy? Or the sigh she let out once they reunited inside the mountain and he was alive? Do they remember how they were fighting back their tears as they were saying goodbye?

Does Clarke remember how socked she was when out of nowhere Bellamy appears to save her after three months? Or how relieved Bellamy was when he found her alive? Does he remember Clarke begging for his life and then getting knocked out? What about the pain from the stab wound on his leg? Does Clarke remember Bellamy’s face when she told him she couldn’t go back with him? And does Bellamy remember how he froze when suddenly Clarke was back, searching for him, her best friend and co-leader? Do they remember how they fall back to working together so easily? Do they remember all the conversations they had about forgiveness and all they time they were willing to forgive the other but not themselves?

Does Bellamy remember how stunned he was when Clarke told him that she doesn’t trust Roan with her life but he’ll be there and she trust him? Or how worried he was when his team got caught and their plan failed? How desperate he was to find Clarke because he knew she was in danger? Heck, does Clarke remember how she couldn’t form any words once she heard her own mother ordering to bring Bellamy up in order to break her and tell them the pass phrase? Does Bellamy remember Clarke reaching for his hand while she was about to get into the City of Light and how tight he hold it? Or the panic on his face at first when they thought something was wrong and Clarke’s life was in danger but then everything was okay and he was determinate to keep everyone away from her while she was trying to save them.

Does Clarke remember how Bellamy freaked out when he found Echo holding a sword on Clarke’s throat? Or how a weight was lifted from her shoulder once he wrote her name on that list? How it felt to save each other? Does Clarke remember how worried she was every time Bellamy’s team was late from a mission? Does Bellamy remember how his hand was couldn’t stop trembling at the thought of Clarke’s dead body being under that tart by the river? Or later that the grounder threatened to kill her while driving and he couldn’t do much other than keep driving and trying to figure a way to save her? The sigh he let out and the smile he had on his face once that was over?

Does Bellamy remember how getting betrayed by Clarke felt when she and Jaha stole the bunker and left his sister outside? Or the way he looked at her when she pointed a gun at him? Does he remember the way she sobbed and lowered the weapon because she couldn’t do it after all? Do they remember how awkward was for them to be at the same room after that or how easy it was to make up? How stupidly Bellamy crashed the rover because he was smiling at Clarke?

Does Bellamy remember how freaking worried he was when Clarke took off her helmet to save Emori? Or how sure Clarke was that she was going to die anyway? Do they remember how sad their conversation before Plaimfaya was and everything that happened after that?

(I’m not asking if Bellamy remembers how it felt to close the door and leave Clarke behind because I’m sure it’s a memory that will be with him forever.)

Anyway… and this guys, is why I can’t sleep at night. Thank you for coming, see you next week same time :)

i’m gonna put it this way: bellamy has realized his feelings for clarke. fact. but he feels like he’s betraying e/cho, so to compensate for that, he’s pushing clarke away w his words. he needs that emotional distance because he doesn’t want to be tempted, and let’s be real, bellamy blake is as honorable as men get. even as he tries to push clarke away w his words, he’s still keeping her close by doing things he otherwise wouldn’t. he can’t stand to lose clarke, even though he’s trying so hard to push her away. this is the angst that i came for. this is the bellarke that i love, and i’m so ready for them to talk this shit out in the last two episodes of the season. it’s confirmed that bellamy and clarke end on good terms this season, so i have so much faith. tbh, i don’t think we’ll get an admission of feelings to each other in the next four episodes, but i so see one of them canonically confirming feelings for the other to someone else (even though that’s lowkey already happened). anyway, moral of the story, bellamy said that shit abt family because he’s afraid of losing the people who kept him sane up in the ring while he was mourning clarke. he also is hella honorable to his gf. SIDENOTE: anyone else think that he’s pushing clarke away because he can’t handle losing her again? especially now that feelings are legitimately involved. so he pushes her away so that he can’t be hurt again, but does everything to save her bc he CAN’T lose her

i’m gonna put it this way: bellamy has realized his feelings for clarke. fact. but he feels like he’s betraying e/cho, so to compensate for that, he’s pushing clarke away w his words. he needs that emotional distance because he doesn’t want to be tempted, and let’s be real, bellamy blake is as honorable as men get. even as he tries to push clarke away w his words, he’s still keeping her close by doing things he otherwise wouldn’t. he can’t stand to lose clarke, even though he’s trying so hard to push her away. this is the angst that i came for. this is the bellarke that i love, and i’m so ready for them to talk this shit out in the last two episodes of the season. it’s confirmed that bellamy and clarke end on good terms this season, so i have so much faith. tbh, i don’t think we’ll get an admission of feelings to each other in the next four episodes, but i so see one of them canonically confirming feelings for the other to someone else (even though that’s lowkey already happened). anyway, moral of the story, bellamy said that shit abt family because he’s afraid of losing the people who kept him sane up in the ring while he was mourning clarke. he also is hella honorable to his gf. SIDENOTE: anyone else think that he’s pushing clarke away because he can’t handle losing her again? especially now that feelings are legitimately involved. so he pushes her away so that he can’t be hurt again, but does everything to save her bc he CAN’T lose her

Bellamy Blake and Clarke Griffin first see each other on Hogwarts Express: a freckle faced boy with glasses and messy hair, and a blonde, blue-eyed princess already wearing impeccable dress robes by the time they leave the station. 

The sorting hat lingers on Bellamy’s head a while, not sure if it should place him in Hufflepuff or Gryffindor, though eventually he’s placed in Griffyndor to thunderous applause. He quickly makes friends with Harper McIntyre and Jasper Jordan. Clarke gets sorted into Slytherin right away, to the surprise of no one since her mother is a very famous Slytherin member of the Wizengamot. She’s joined by Raven Reyes and John Murphy. 

They don’t really know each other but by reputation: Bellamy is the orphaned muggleborn kid in shabby robes who excels at Flying, and Clarke is the pureblood who’s top of her class in every other subject.

Second year, Bellamy begins to play quidditch and becomes one of the best chasers Hogwarts has seen in years. Clarke spends her time in the library or in charms club, somewhat turning up her nose at athletic pursuits unless her friend Wells is playing for Hufflepuff, but by fourth year she’s definitely begun to notice Bellamy on the quidditch pitch. Not to mention, he’s caught up with her in every subject except Arithmancy. They have a well defined rivalry at this point, sometimes friendly, sometimes not.

Octavia Blake, also sorted into Griffyndor, arrives at Hogwarts their fifth year, and suddenly Bellamy begins to throw his weight around a bit. Clarke sees right through all his false bravado to the core of him–he’s just a scrappy kid using his newfound popularity to protect his little sister. Clarke is pleased but not surprised when Bellamy does just as well as she does on their OWLs.

Sixth year her dad dies, and she takes some time off from school. She hates the way that everyone looks at her when she returns, with pity in their eyes, but Bellamy treats her just like he always has, and she’s exceedingly grateful. 

Bellamy offers to tutor her in the things she’s missed, and she accepts. Somehow, spending hours together in the library turns into taking walks down by the Great Lake which turns into holding hands in the corridors. The others tease them quite mercilessly, but it turns out they’d been placing bets on when then two of them would get together for years now. Monty Green, a Ravenclaw and childhood best friend of Jasper’s, has the winning bet.

Seventh year, NEWT exams are upon them before they know it, and Bellamy and Clarke both achieve exceedingly high scores. Bellamy, after a few years playing professional quidditch, applies to teach at Hogwarts, the place where he’s been happiest in all his life. He becomes the best Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher the school has seen in decades. He’s quite popular with the students as well, being so young and good looking, and many are disappointed to discover that he’s quite happily married to Clarke Griffin, a healer at St Mungo’s who’s been rumored to have the ear of Minister Jaha. 

Bellamy and Clarke still find themselves caught up in rivalry now and again, but lately it’s whether their kids will have Bellamy’s freckles or Clarke’s blue eyes. They’re each secretly hoping for both.

In Defense of Rhaegar Targaryen

I see a lot of people shitting on Rhaegar Targaryen right now, when the truth is we don’t have all of the facts. Yes he did annul his marriage to Elia Martell but you know what that actually does happen in real life. Rhaegar obviously didn’t love Elia Martell and didn’t want to be married to her. Does that make him the monster everyone thinks he is? No it doesn’t. Nowhere has it been indicated that he disowned his children by her. It could very well be that he acknowledged and legitimized them and stuck them in the line of succession behind Jon. I am sick and tired of people demonizing Rhaegar because he left poor innocent Elia. Guess what Elia wasn’t a stupid naive girl, She wasn’t Sansa when she first got to King’s Landing, she was a Viper, a Martell of Dorne. What happened to her and her children was awful but it was done by the Lannisters not Rhaeger, Also all this BS that Rhaegar kidnapped and raped Lyanna Stark. You’re kidding me right? Lyanna has been compared to Arya, do you really see Arya doing something she doesn’t want to do? Do you see here not finding a way to escape if she wanted to leave? No. Me either. Besides Robert Baratheon who had a chip on his shoulder about Rhaegar and Bran and Sansa who don’t know the whole story, no one and I mean no one supports the theory that Rhaegar kidnapped Lyanna. Not Oberyn “Beautiful Noble Rhaegar Targaryen LEFT her for another woman” Martell, Not Barristan “Rhaegar never Liked killing” Selmy. Not even Littlefinger who side-eyed the fuck out of Sansa when she touted the kidnap and raped propaganda about. There is literally no evidence that Lyanna and Rhaegar weren’t in love and that they don’t run away together. Now that doesn’t mean he didn’t make some stupid decisions cause he sure as fuck did. He should have seen the repercussions that just running away and eloping together would have caused. But much like his son Jon, Rhaegar cannot sometimes see the forrest for the trees when he is focused on a particular thing. I.e. Jon’s ides of Marchesque stabbing and Robert’s Rebellion. So if everyone could please think about the whole picture when they say that Elia deserved better and keep in mind that a man who was in love and wanted the best possible life for his unborn child deserved better too.
