My body is in so much pain. I don’t want to anymore. What do I do. The only reason I haven’t killed myself is because I pray my body will get better but it’s just so painful. I want anyone who cares about me or whatever to sort of just deal with it if I die. I have a treatment planned for late November. I hope it is successful, but I told myself I refuse to enter 2019 feeling this way. So no matter how successful my clothing or comics become, my happiness is my priority. I can’t keep feeling like a slave to my body. I just don’t want to anymore. I can’t think of type properly ‘cause I’m high as shit and falling in and out of sleep. I gotta design my banner for AnimeNYC though. Gotta get up :) lol I don’t even want to go go NYC anymore. My birthday is in a few days and I’m too sick to even enjoy some sake or any alcohol to celebrate 21. Life is pure shit right now. So I’ve sort of incidentally ended up making an album. Mot of the bulk of this (compositionally) has been completed for a while, but messing with levels and such for a while. I’m no professional so this is pretty lo-fi; made from my bedroom out of chance, but it’d be cool if some of you guys would check it out. There’s some love put into this for sure! Ah, and also: the last track happened totally incidentally; it isn’t masterpiece or something necessarily extraordinary or better than the others, but I had been contemplating “what’s missing… what’s missing…” for a while now, scrapping other songs and even thinking I wasn’t going to put out an album entirely because something just felt off. My buddy Mat and I were messing around at guitar center and as usually, I obsessively recorded the few bars of piano he played with me lightly playing rhythm guitar under. I think it’s one of those songs that isn’t the best on the album, but sort of makes the album, if that makes sense. Anyhow, thank you for the support always and I’m more than grateful if you even take a look at one of these songs!

I’m just about to get out of bed today; just trying to stay on top of my health but nonetheless, there is more to draw and more to prepare for before AnimeNYC. I will really look into hiring a couple artist friends as assistants for my comics after NYC. Even for screen tones and Black fills. I’m not sure how payment will work considering I don’t make a living yet, so maybe we can plan a Kickstarter release. I don’t know… all I know is: I realize my limitations and have to do my best despite, and I have friends who can help but I need to make it worth their while. Drawing has been really… exhausting lately. It takes a lot from me, and it’s not just drawing in itself; but circumstance. Unfortunately, life currently consists of MUCH more than “just drawing.” I wish it was so.

Good afternoon, hope you’re all having a good week thus far! Remember it’s not even half done so don’t get down about things you haven’t completed yet (￣O￣;)

So - I’m changing my tools for inking (again lol)

I went back to inking on iPad the other night and was like “Wow the Cintiq sucks compared”. The iPad Pro feels so realistic and I can get those… raw ink marks I used to get on paper. The darks just seem… DARKER. I can’t do that in the Cintiq, and the screen just doesn’t feel right compared to the iPad. I absolutely dig the iPad’s intuitive approach and ability to really emulate the feel (not only look) of traditional tools. Though, I will forever miss the sound of a pen nib scraping the paper… But I don’t miss scanning multiple layers, straining over a light box, and whiting out without undo buttons entirely. I think once I’m healthier and have more money/assistants, I’ll be physically able to handle the labor of drawing comics analog.

So yeah - sorry to confuse those of you who asked about which tools I use recently, and whether I draw digitally or traditionally or whatever I do. It’s a healthy mix of both! Pencils are currently roughed in by hand and then scanned and modified on the computer/iPad then inked. I use a mixture of backgrounds from my head, from references I take, sometimes I splice in photographs and even lately I use CG and would like to start working with other artist friends who use CG so we can create vivid worlds based on concept sketches I’ll draw prior. Point is: my process is always changing; just do what you like and what makes you comfortable!

Just want to update everyone who ordered within the time frame of 10/30 - 11/26!

I’ve received one of my boxes of inventory but am still awaiting the second. Once both are here, I’ll begin directly fulfilling all orders of the products in stock; “COOL CAT,” “Super Soft, Super Strong” ringer shirts and sweaters alike, “Sushiboy,” and “Doctor! Doctor!”.

“In Gloom” and “Pink Triangle” both sold out at AnimeNYC due to unexpected reception of both, so there is no residual inventory.

“In Gloom” is made with screen printing and I already have the blank garments here in stock in the room, so I’ve just got to bring those over the the printer. I’ve already started sourcing the bulk fabric for the second batch of “Pink Triangle” hoodies so once my printer receives that, we’ll begin the production!

My only worry is that these may arrive to some shortly after Xmas, because I don’t see these getting completed and shipped on my end within the next two weeks. Initially, my friends Alex and Jonathan were working on this operations-wise, while Alex and I were mutually involved in the creative process with his project 3-Legged Threads. Though, Alex realized he needed to fulfill his own creative desires and chose to depart shortly before NYC (we’re still good friends). While in NYC, some really sort of stressful and troubling instances occurred on both ends, henceforth Jonathan is no longer working on this project with me. Jonathan is credited on the “Pink Triangle” design due to his input during its creation, while Alex came up with the initial sketch we used in “COOL CAT,” along with photographing much of the clothing. I apologize if all of this takes some time, but please remember that printing on its own is a major part of this art form. Shoutouts to @peowstudio and whoever was in charge of the book design at all. I think the way Peow prints their books is great, which is often taken for granted here in North America. Happy to see a sorta manga inspired publisher really focus on intentional and interactive cover design that doesn’t have a “THIS IS MANGA!!” approach. I didn’t show a pic but there’s artwork under the book cover too. I’ll post pics of that when I post my other doodle of another character sometime. Idk I just really enjoy nicely designed books and don’t think I shut up about that at the Peow booth at AnimeNYC lol
